[Name: Kevin]
[Cultivation: Human Level 4]
[Skills: Resurrection of the Dead, Ability sharing]
[Servants: 3/4]
"I really broke through," Kevin exclaimed as he stroked his hair in confusion, "But what the hell happened back there?"
Although he was happy to have reached the fourth level of human, the unease in his heart wouldn't let him celebrate.
Kevin was also left wondering what had forced such a reaction between Okura and him. After all, it's hard to force a breakthrough, but not so much that you break down right after, especially with someone as strong as General Okura.
"Nonetheless, I need to focus on my mission, let's just ask Okura when there is a chance," Kevin mumbled while putting on his white mask.
Kevin was sure that one of the hunters brought by Oliver will be his dear friend, Bud Dolton. It would be rather awkward if Sophia's father recognized Kevin, after all, that man despises Kevin with all his heart.
Kevin doesn't like him either, so keeping his identity a secret wouldn't completely destroy the chemistry between them.
*Ding*
The elevator door opened, and Kevin immediately walked ahead into the familiar white room. However, instead of the scientists scattered around the area like last time, they were replaced by heavily armed people.
"Yo, we thought you were dead already," the crimson lady called out loudly, attracting the attention of everyone, "There have been some crazy earthquakes"
"As you can see, I'm still alive" Kevin replied to the laughing Clara as he glanced at two girls next to her, who were dressed in red clothes that covered their entire bodies, "Does your guild only consist of girls?"
"Indeed," Clara murmured as she bowed, "But we can always make an exception for you."
"No need," Kevin replied without many notions.
Clara was a seductive and beautiful woman, however, Sophia was definitely on a different level, better inside and out. Kevin would never cheat or even think about cheating.
"You're so boring, why are you even wearing a mask? Are you afraid to show your pretty face?"
'Is she really a guild leader?' Kevin wondered before replying, "Indeed, you never know when foxes like you will attack."
"HEY, I AM NO--"
"Your equipment isn't so bad," a sudden voice interrupted Clara, "Which blacksmith made this blade?"
Kevin diverted his gaze to the side.
"I'm sorry to inform you, but he's already retired," Kevin replied tenderly.
"Glen, don't interrupt me or I'll personally cut your tongue out" Fire burned in both of Clara's eyes "And you, kiddo, I am not a vixen"
"You never change, Clara. Maybe you should have taken your medicine before coming here" Oliver suddenly appeared in the middle of the group as he flashed a bright smile.
Veins popped out on Clara's forehead while fire engulfed from underneath the ground as the temperature suddenly heated up "Could you repeat yourself? I didn't hear you."
However, Oliver didn't seem bothered by the heat at all.
Calmly, he reached his hand forward, and immediately a slight wind arose. The force of the wind grew stronger with each passing second until the fire slowly began to diminish.
Kevin stared at this scene with astonishment.
Mages, people who have a natural ability to control the different types of elements. They can be considered the strongest god's power users for several reasons.
Mages' powers are extremely versatile, their powers can be used at close and long-range, but most importantly, their attacks can cover a group of people, which is deadly during the war.
They are highly regarded by humanity and get most of the resources for free. Yes, it's that simple, if you're born with the powers of a mage, breaking through to the supernatural level isn't that hard.
That's the cruel side of society, if you're born with a celestial talent then you're sponsored by the government while others are left to fend for themselves.
Humanity's resources are slowly dwindling while the battles in the frontlines are growing tense, so the government is careful about allocating supplies.
This can be considered harsh, but Kevin finds it quite normal; after all, he himself would rather invest in something that will surely pay off one day rather than something that might not even yield a profit.
Of course, there are also special god power users that have an ability that is valued even more by the government, such as Titan's shield.
Kevin should also fall into such a category now, but because of his dull cultivation talent, he hasn't been given any support yet.
Little did everyone know, that Kevin had already broken through to the fourth level within a matter of some days. Although it can be considered an unimaginable achievement, it's still a puny result compared to those heaven-defying talents.
"Enough," Glen groaned angrily as his body covered in golden fur, "Fighting between guilds is forbidden."
"Hahahaha, Glen, you also want to join into the fun?" shouted Oliver while pointing his hand at the enraged Glen. Immediately, a sharp wind filled the entire area, causing even the calmly standing Kevin to back away a few feet.
"Didn't it say the guilds were on good terms?" Kevin cursed while pressing the bracelet on his wrist, instantly letting the dark costume envelop him wholly.
Kevin didn't want to get hurt before going into the underground, he also didn't want the chairmen of the guild to get any injuries either as they were responsible for his safety. However, there seemed to be no way to prevent that from happening.
"They're always like that" an unexpected reply from the side creeped the shit out of Kevin.
'Wait, this voice ...this..oh no' Kevin cursed in his mind finally predicting his worst dream come true, 'Sophia's father'
"Oh yeah..haha" Kevin muttered something to himself in panic, but after seeing the dark-haired, masculine-built man staring intently at his hair, Kevin panicked even more.
"You look familiar, have we met before?" Bud pricked up his ears even more.
"I'm sorry, I don't believe we have, sir," Kevin replied humbly.
"Hmm..alright, sorry for such a question. Your hair just brought back some disturbing memories," Bud stated, eyeing Kevin again. "It's nice to meet you, I am Bud."
'Disturbing memories? 'It seems Sophia's father really doesn't like me,' Kevin mused before replying, "Zelgius."
*Ding*
A soft ringing echoed through the room, forcing the talking Bud and Kevin to look towards the elevator. However, the fighting trio didn't seem to hear the sound, so they proceeded to argue.
"They're at it again," Adam said with a smile as he stepped out of the elevator, "General Okura, could you please calm them down?"
Okura, who was already back on his feet, without even a pinch of blood, stepped out of the elevator as well. Kevin stared at the man in delight, noting that the disturbance earlier hadn't caused any serious injury.
Or at least that's what it looked like from the outside.
General Okura looked at this scene with a slight embarrassment, someone like him, a general of the army, a man who fights bloody battles every day, is now being used as a conciliator of a battle.
*Boom*
As soon as Okura extended his hand forward, the air tensed, making it hard to breathe. Everyone in the vicinity was stomped on the ground as if they were being harassed by a giant elephant. Even Bud and Kevin, who were on the side, were not spared either.
Although Kevin had trouble standing up, he could still see the struggling Bud, which brought a smile to his face. Even the strong have to bow when they see a king, which in this case, was Okura.
After a few attempts, Kevin gave up trying to get up and just conceded defeat. The current strength between Okura and Kevin is like heaven and earth, a fact that Kevin clearly understands.
'Still....controlling gravity is such a strong skill,' Kevin said in his head, seeing how even the trio of chairmen couldn't get up from the ground.
"Have you calmed down?" Okura dissolved gravity with a flustered smile, "Since everyone is here, let's go, Adam lead the way"
The trio immediately got up from the ground and gave each other deadly looks before heading towards their respective groups of three.
Clara with the two girls dressed in red.
Glen and two giants, who were clothed in strange robes that covered their entire bodies. It didn't seem like pieces of gear, which left Kevin in wonder.
And last but not least, Oliver and Bud.
"Why are there only two of you?" asked Adam the carefree standing Oliver.
"Our third person is already at the place"
"Wonderful," Adam stated with a smile as he pointed towards the exit, "Shall we begin our mission?"
Everyone nodded with eyes gleaming with determination and took a step forward while Kevin slowly made his way towards the General.
"Kid," before Kevin could screech out a question, Okura already stopped him, "I know you have a lot of questions and I'll be sure to answer them. But now is not the time, we need to focus on the mission, so be patient"
Kevin still wasn't satisfied with such an answer, thinking that this general would just disappear after the mission without actually clarifying anything.
However, it's not like he could do anything about it.
"Power....I need more power"
