I suppose it is a matter of whether you consider exact midnight to be the very last moment of the day before it, or the very first moment of the day after it. Logically, the remainder of the minute identified as 12:00 AM is the first minute of the day, but The exact moment it switches could be either day.
I think it depends on the mythology you are looking at. I am by no means qualified to speak on the subject, though, as I do not know much about most mythologies.
