This is a review up to the free chapters, as the author said to read them first before deciding whether to drop or continue. I really don't get what is the focus of the novel. The genre is cultivation mixed with elemental magic. Usually those novels revolve around a mix of fighting, power progression and relations. But i don't see any of that in this novel. All the fights up to chapter 102 are one-shots by the MC and described in no more than 3-4 paragraphs. The only fight that wasn't a one-shot was against a girl, only because he didnt know the advanced version of using elements. 5 days after that he could slap her and kill her like any other. So fighting is below average. Power progression, is even worse. Cultivation is split into planes. The first plane took about 40 chapters, and the author obviously wanted to skip it because mc skipped to the end of the energy plane from start. All he lacked was quantity, so no power progression in first 40 chapters. The second plane, is about understanding intents, but this was also done poorly. It can be summirized in a sentece of "MC took x days to comprehend basic/intermediate/advanced/master intent". Nothing else explained. As for relations, the best relation is with his wife, which is basically: mc saves wife, wife stays with mc to be protected for a few days, 10 days separation and then both are suddenly madly in love with each other. Couldnt be more forced. So story wise this novel is below average to me. Writing quality is readable after chapter 90, but author needs to edit all earlier chapters as they are a mess. Commas used instead of periods, senteces with wrong order of its parts etc. Still readable, meaning you dont have to decrtpt the meaning but needs editing.

Translation quality: readable, but still not good enough. Especially the choice of tenses makes reading a bit awkward. Updating stability: 14ch/week. Enough said. Story development: Two basic flaws on thr story development, that make the novel below average. First, the rare of his advancement is too quick. Maybe the author didn't want a long novel, in which case he could just create less cultivation levels, instead of having him that fast. Secondly, the story is too repetitive. He goes from secret realm to secret, maybe a a few minor or major competitions just to show how awsome mc is. Character Design: neither the mc or the side-characters have much depth in them, which tbh can be expected in chinese novels. Worl Background: Take China, have it be the whole world and change the name of the planet and you got your world background. There are other planets, but they only serve as young masters, but on a planetary scale. A lot of blatant racism, for example when the eternal night clan left the university MC is, it was said a lot of times how the university became purer. All in all, read it only if you got nothing better to do, and you like the pet taming theme, but don't have many expectations.

Interesting story on the cultivations genre. It is a parody of the genre, in which mc has reached the Mastery of the dao in various subjects, like cooking, but doesnt realise it, so we see his interqction with various cultivations as he unconsciously uses his powers to affect the world. The problem with the novel is that it becomes repetitive very fast. There is line that divides a humorously naive MC, to a very stupid and ingorant one, and after a while, this story's MC passes that line. I mean he has been having important guests for a while and hasnt realised that they react strangely to him. This is not naivety anymore just plain stupidity. It was a fun read for thefirst 100 or so chapters, but after that it got boring.

This is an average story with a good premise, but bad implementation. The translating quality is decent, but has a few glaring flaws that annoy you the more experienced in english you are. Every time i read the phrase "his mouth spasmed" my mouth TWITCHES from the cringe. I don't know why the translator used the word spasm instead of twitch, but it a wrong usage of the english language. The world background is decent. It is rare for a cultivation novel to have an intergalactic background, so that's a plus for the story. The story style is bad, in my opinion. The author doesn't know when to use humour and when not. That's clearly shown in the trial arc, where 2/3 of the chapters are the reactions of the people watching the broadcast and only 1/3 is his fights with the beasts. This disrupts the flow of MC's actions and destroys any tensions that might have been built up. The characters are also one of the flaws of the story. The MC is a superficial idiot, with thoughts of 10 year old. The sister is your typical thsundere female lead. The siblings romantic relationship(cause this is where its going) is ridiculous, while it's been supported by one of the parents. For the rest of the characters, we don't know much. Alice seems like a nice character, but not much is shown till chapter 90. MC's cheat ability is interesting. It is his way of gathering resources, so while its OP, i've seen a lot worse. One surprise on this part is that he shares the resources he gets from his cheat with his sister, unlike in most novels where the MC keeps his ability a secret even if he could use it to help his friends. All in all, it is an average story, that you can read if you are looking for something that does not need any brain cells.

I agree with you. This is an average novel at best. The brother-sister relationship is off putting and cringy, but not the worse i've seen. As for balancing the 5 star reviews, I'd say that it is pointless. I find it more helpful to leave an actual review(around 2,5 to 3 stars for this one), than leave a 1 star one to balance the 5 stars. Those who read reviews to select a novel will probably ignore both extreme reviews.

Yeah from the moment he leaves school the first time till the second recall, i don't think i found any logic behind MC's decisions and behaviour. Even small things, like how he talked to the dragon after it helped him with his cultivation were frustrating to read.

Maybe he is not his self for a good amount of time after, i dont know i haven't read further than 3 chapters after the recall. I reread chapter 121 and indeed half of it is about him sulking. BUT that half chapter describes 5-10 minutes after his recall. Maybe it's just me and i misinterpreted the chapter wrong. Anyway, this is just a personal opinion and shouldn't discourage you as you've done a great job in the rest of the elements. Keep up the good work!

This novel has an interesting take on the monster taming/cultivation through monsters genre, since the focus is running a pet shop and working towards improving his strength through that. While interesting, it has a few glaring flaws that make this novel average at best. The biggest flaw is the system. Systems in general are supposed to be a way to help the MC get stronger, in other words they are a tool and its up to the mc how to use them. In this novel, the roles are reversed, with the mc being nothing but the hands of the system. Nothing, would have changed if you put any random person in place of the mc. Anyone can send the pets to their deaths unlimited times as training, anyone collect quality pet food if dying in the cultivation planes is either free or cheap. The system offers no freedom of choice to the mc, to the point that the mc is limited even in his thoughts. The automatic conversion to energy points should have been a choice of the mc on when he needs energy points and when money. There are, also, various incosistencies,. For example, at some point mc wanted to hire employees, but the system said only pets are allowed to work for the shop. A good chapters later, this is forgotten, as he hires both an official and a temporary employee. The second glaring flaw is mc's personality. The further the story goes, the more arrogant the mc becomes, which is baseless considering the fact he himself was given everything he achieved by the system or by joanna. Even in the mysterious realm, which can be considered one of the few achievements on his own, he wouldnt have reached that far if the system hadnt stimulated the whole area and all the monsters before he entered. To conclude, if you can ignore the system problems and you are looking for something to read, then give it a try.

One of the better monster taming/training novels out of there and one of the few that's finished. The translation quality, while readable, has some mistakes here and there, mostly in the tenses used. Story wise there plotholes and inconsistencies. The author is influenced by many chinese clichés, but didnt bother making sure whether they can be used in his story. For example, the cataclysm happened 3 years ago, but the author keeps talking about how the mc is the youngest breeder, youngest trainer to get a lord tier, etc. 3 years are not enough for age to play any part in someone's achievements. The system is also problematic, in my opinion. While in the beginning of the story it helps MC in a positive way, in the later part of the story it made the mc too overpowered that makes you lose interest. All in all, if you are into monster training/fighting novels, then this one is definitely one you shouls give it a try.

I wasn't expecting the mc to be able leave the academy, but he should feel bothered about it and not act like nothing happened. A chapter, with him trying to go back and be rejected for whatever reason or to be seen as worried about her would have made tremendous impact on character development.

I won't bother reviewing the other aspects of the novel. Its generally mediocre or bad. What distinguished this novel as one of the worse novels out there is the cheat system mc aqcuires. We can all agree that when we start a Chinese novel we are prepared to put up with plot armor(some more some less). However, in this novel his cheat system is literally plot armor. An example: Several powerhouses were searching for something in a huge lake(i think it was a drop of blood?). So our mc casually activates his cheat, walks to the edge of the lake, randomly grabs some water and, what do you know, the drop of blood is grabbed along. This novel is not worth anything more than 1/5

I've dropped this novel at the point when they are building the boat. I won't talk about the good parts of the story as they have been mentioned in many reviews, but only what i didn't like about it. First thing i didn't t like is the MC. His actions and they way he plays don't feel to me like an old mans at his 60s-70s, bases on how seriously he acts and plays the game. Secondly, the pacing of the story is bad. On the one hand, the story doesnt stay stagnant and things do happen, wether its crafting, fighting or interacting with people in the game(npcs or players). On the other hand, its ~200 chapters and the GAME is not even open for the public, and from some other review its not at ~400 chapters either. Lastly, i don't like the game you created. For me multiplayer games comes hand to hand with competition, whether thats pvp or getting a first clear on a dungeon. And your game destroys any chance of competition the further it goes. You have players with literally months of advantage before the game opens, 5 of them that are destined to be the best of the 5 elements of the game from the very start and then you get all 5 of them together to form a guild. How is anyone gonna compete with that? Moreover, the "slots" for the main questline are filled before even the game goes live. The first plotline has to do about the war of two sides if dragons through their champions and 2 of the "good" ones have already been picked by chapter 200. What made me drop the novel was that lack of fairness and chance for the general player to compete for any kind of lead in the game.
