I get why everybody is upset at him. Yes, he's not a great man. And, yes, it's wrong of him to let this abuse happen to Gu Yan. BUT! I think it's clear he's in a toxic, abusive relationship. You can see clearly how manipulative and deranged his wife is. Not to mention, she slapped him. She. Slapped. Him. Apparently hard enough to leave a clear mark on his face. This is domestic abuse.
Ooo, I can add to that thought. What if the emperor actually was in love with himself (like Narcissus). So, of course he was also attracted to his "twin sis", who was essentially a mirror image of himself. HAHAHA, I'M SO EVIL!
Shouldn't this be 'dumb blonde'? But, I guess 'silly blonde' sounds more elegant~
I like how Li Yue isn't just casting all the blame onto the female lead and trying to leave her with nothing. She knows what her mission is and doesn't seek to get involved beyond that. Although the damsel in distress cliché isn't attractive to a lot of readers, despite that, I feel like even those characters deserve a chance at true happiness.
I think it's partially about fear of death and living a meaningless less. I don't "believe" in a specific god, more-like I want something to be out there. If there is a god, they are most likely indifferent to the suffering we experience. To them, our suffering is minuscule. We our probably like dust mites to them in all honesty.
Yeah, for the average joe, who just died an extremely gruesome death, I think it'd be strange if she wasn't at least a little bit of a train wreck.
