Hi everyone I was planning on releasing a new chapter today, but my brain stopped halfway through writing it. I always hate when people discontinue their stories and I am always like if I write a story I never will.

I was planning on discontinuing, but I chose to not discontinue my story, I am only planning on taking a break. I might update from time to time during that period. I just want to let you all know. This is a couple of tips for any future writers who are planning on writing a story. I suggest to have a plot and know what to write next.

This might have been my mistake. I just chose to write for fun with no plot no nothing. Hence why it has led me here. No inspiration to continuing onwards.

I also would like to say its stressful. Its stress to figure out on when to update or what to write. I just started in person school and its very stressful on trying to get up in the morning.

I also got a three month old dog. I take half responsibility over her, but I am in charge of her when its night time, which means taking her out at night to the bathroom. This causes me lack of sleep and helps cause no motivation.

This is not just for writing. Its in my every day life as well. Like doing homework or getting ready for school, or doing a simple chore. All I want to do is sleep.

These are some of my tips for you guys and some downsides of writing. I hope you all can understand where I am coming from. I hope you all have a amazing day, afternoon, evening, or night!

It was one sunny morning when the Writer noticed the Artist more than necessary.

The writer noticed how her flatmate was sneaking glances at what she was doing – typing – and asked her several questions involving writing. She had to clear it to the Artist that she cannot provide writing tips; she sucks at giving tips.

It wasn't like the Artist was subtle either. She entered the Writer's room, without permission, and watch the Writer do her thing. 

Type.

Type. 

Coffee. 

Type.

Answer some questions.

Browse cat stuff. 

And coffee. 

And while doing so, the Artist was taking notes of the things she could use.

The Writer, noticed how the Artist was quiet yet jotting notes about something, removed her headphones from her head and turned to the Artist. The sound of a foreign rock band -Japanese - was loud that it can be heard from the earcups.

"What are you doing?" the Writer drawled with a raised brow. Her eyes narrowed and focused on how the Artist had her tongue poking at the side of her lips while taking notes. A habit the Artist has when she was working on something important.

The Artist stopped writing and faced the Writer a carefree grin. "Hmmm, nothing. Just jotting down notes."

The Writer didn't believe that the Artist was 'just' taking notes. The way those eyes of the Artist gleam when she was writing on her pad paper, her smile showing her dimples, and the nodding of her head as if she got an 'aha!' moment. No. It was not 'just' taking writing notes. "And why, may the goddess Sága guide me, are you taking notes? As far as I know, you're an artist and not a writer." 

The Artist stopped writing and placed her pen on the pad paper. "Caught on, huh? And hey, we Artist can write too!" the Writer eyed her skeptically and she sighed in defeat. She played with her pen, rolling it in between her thumb and index finger. She then looked at her paper and the scribbles on it. "I'm trying to write something. Something I can't really draw. Well I can draw it but I can't seem to capture what I need to express." 

The Writer eyed the Artist and saw that she was indeed serious. "Okay? So you wrote it yet? What were you trying to write anyway?"

"Yeah. I'm writing the part of describing a scent. Like you know, a cologne scent to be exact." She stopped playing with her pen.

"Describe it?" the Writer moved closer to the Artist. Their topic piqued her interest. It was uncommon for her flatmate to even ask about writing tips or write something other than her character dialogues. The Artist, as the Writer saw her, was talented and can express anything in her works. So to see her asking for writing advice? Inwardly, the Writer was smiling; flattered even.

The Artist took a deep breath and began to explain the gnawing need to be written on paper. "I know the brand. I know the name of the scent. I can draw the container. But to express it?" she looked at her scribbled notes and squinted her eyes, trying to decipher what she already wrote. All of them doesn't fit what she needed to let out. "It's smells kinda like grass? I think. A freshly mowed lawn early in the morning?" she was unsure of how to describe it.

"And you have a start. Comparing it to a lawn is a good way to express it, all you have to do is to write it on paper." the Writer was impressed at how the Artist was able to come up with those words. 

The Artist shook her head. "No..."

"What do you mean, 'no'?"

"It's still not enough to express it." The Artist, smile replaced by a serious expression akin to the Writer's usual stoic ones, faced the Writer and held her hands.

The Writer was taken aback by the sudden change of atmosphere and couldn't help but gaze back at those rare serious stares of the happy-go-lucky Artist.

"That cologne... When i smelled it on her, my nose buried on her neck, I felt nothing but pure bliss. It made my heart skip a beat, my eyes to close, and my lips to curve upward; savoring the scent at each intake of breath. There was a gnawing feeling inside me, temptation to inhale it even more and hold her closer to me. Like every part of me craved for her scent like my life would perish without it," said the Artist, pulling the Writer's hands near her lips and placed a gentle kiss on both the Writer's knuckles.

The Writer was speechless. Stunned and speechless. 

When the Artist released her hold on the Writer's hands, she faced the stunned woman with a childish smile. An innocent one as if she didn't do damage to her flatmate's mentality and emotions. "Soooo did I do it right? The whole express thing?" she asked with a puppy-like curious expression on her face.

The Writer snapped out of her daze and knitted her brows. Reeling in her bearings, coming to a conclusion that she was being teased by the Artist, she whipped her right hand towards the direction of the door. "OUT!" she growled, glaring at the Artist in annoyance.

The Artist, guessed that she went overboard with the kiss, laughed and left the Writer's room. 

After Artist went out and closed the door, the Writer leaned back on her seat and clutched the fabric on her chest.

"Dear heart.... That was... Goddess Sága..."

This is my first time writing a journal, I wonder what I should write? Well, I can start with an introduction I guess?

My name is April, I was born in May. I am currently 19 years old. The reason I am writing this is because I was recommend to write a journal by my therapist. So I guess I should maybe write what i'm thinking about?

I bought a cactus ball two days ago, I was again recommended to take care of the cactus ball by my therapist. She said it would help with my need for order and a schedule as well as help me emotionally. She said it would give me a sense of control. I don't understand why it would help emotionally but I will try anyways. 

I don't understand much about taking care of plants, I just know that I need to water it and give it sunlight, but I wonder how much? Well, I guess I can just look it up. 

I'll go do that now.

It's been five hours, I decided to write because it's suppose to help me emotionally. I don't feel very good. I was just thinking about if I should go to my friend, Charles, and see if he knows how to take care of a cactus ball or maybe he can give me tips. He really likes plants.

But as soon as I opened the door and saw a bunch of people, I froze. I don't like strangers, I don't like them looking at me. I decided not to go out, I don't often go out, especially after I moved. My friend said to live near him to help with this problem, but I don't like it still. Did I fail him? I don't know, I really don't know.
I guess writing did make me feel better. Maybe I can just go tomorrow? After all, it's getting late. Yes, let's go tomorrow.

I prefer writing in the morning, however theres not much to write about if you just woke up. That kinda makes me feel down. Wonder why? I guess I can just ask my therapist.

My therapist said that it probably means I don't feel like i've done anything, it's the fealing that I am not doing enough. However, what can you do in the morning? I guess I can excercise, or... maybe I shouldn't write that down.

If you're like most people, you find vanilla ice cream quite inoffensive.
You neither love nor hate it — i.e., it doesn't inspire strong feelings in you.
And if you're eating vanilla ice cream, it's unlikely you're raving about it to anyone.
Now I want you to think about Ben and Jerry's Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream.
I bet that ice cream inspires strong feelings in you!
I bet if you had a big bowl of that in front of you, there'd be a huge smile on your face and you'd want to tell anyone who'd listen how good it is.
What's this got to do with writing?
Well, many of us have perfected the art of writing "vanilla ice cream."
Vanilla writing is both technically sound and inoffensive.
Vanilla writing "does the job" in the absence of anything better.
And the truth is, perfecting the art of writing "vanilla" is necessary if you want to earn a living as a writer.
The economic and time constraints imposed on us by our clients, plus our need to invoice quickly (so we can put food on the table), dictates that we need to be able to consistently churn out writing that is technically sound and "does the job."
Vanilla writing pays the bills.
But sometimes, we want to produce writing that really moves people and inspires them to take action.
Sometimes we want our writing to provoke such strong feelings in people, they feel compelled to tell their friends, "Hey! Read this!"
Sometimes, we want to produce the writing equivalent of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream.
The good news is, there's a way to turn vanilla into chocolate chip cookie dough. You just need time, and a few extra ingredients.
The power of editing
Most people see editing as the process of turning a messy first draft into something that's publishable. And yes, editing does do that.
But to me, "publishable" is the equivalent of "vanilla."
To me, the real power of editing activates when we take writing that is vanilla (does the job) and turn it into chocolate chip cookie dough (something people rave about and want to share with their friends).
Yes, the editing process for the latter involves a few more steps than you're used to, but I promise, it'll be worth it.
Before you can turn a piece of vanilla writing into chocolate chip cookie dough, however, you need to be sure it really is at the vanilla (i.e., technically sound) stage.
You also need to meet these three requirements:
You know exactly who the ideal reader is,
You know what promise you're making to them, and
Your piece contains all the key information required to deliver on the promise.
If you have all of this in hand, it's time to edit!
Step #1: High-level pass
This is the stage where knowing exactly who you're writing for, and what you're trying to say is crucial.
Because the first thing you need to do is go through your draft and delete anything that is not relevant to the promise you're making.
When I first started putting this post together, many of the things I talked about were general writing tips. They were great tips, but completely irrelevant to the promise I was making — which was how to edit, not how to write.
The second thing you need to do is check your examples.
If the ideal reader for your piece is a doctor, but all your examples are about builders, you need to change your examples. (If you don't, your piece won't resonate.)
Finally, you need to check your sub-headings.
If you promise "5 secrets to great writing" in your title and all your sub-headings are actually "5 mistakes people make when they're writing," then you need to either change your title or your sub-headings.
Step #2 : Structure
A neat and tidy structure for any piece of writing is a three-part structure: beginning, middle, end. Or, my personal favorite: hook, build, payoff.
Let's start with your hook
First, check you have one. The hook appears very early in a piece, and must capture your reader's attention.
(Which is why you must know who the reader is.)
For example, I hooked you at the start of this article by connecting editing — something many writers don't like doing — with ice cream, which pretty much everyone likes eating.
If your piece is missing a hook, and you're not sure how to give it one, I break down five common hooks here.
It's also worth noting that writers often bury their hooks two paragraphs into their content.
I can't tell you how many "first two paragraphs" I've deleted in my time. All that backstory you're giving, the reader doesn't care.
Start with the bit that captures their attention, and then carry on from there. (If you really need backstory for context, you can introduce it later.)
The next structural element we need to look at is our build
This is where you introduce your idea to the reader and show them "what is."
Then you tell them why they should care by showing them "what could be."
In the introduction of this post, I showed you "what is" — vanilla ice cream. It's "does the job" writing.
The problem is, no one's Instagramming vanilla ice cream or telling their friends about it.
Then I showed you "what could be" — chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream.
Basically, I sold you the dream! Now I need to deliver on that dream.
And I do that via …
The final structural element: the payoff
Many writers think their final line is the payoff, but that's rarely the case.
More commonly, it's the six points, or the 10 tips, or the 15 secrets. Essentially, it's where you deliver on the promise you've made in your title.
Everything I'm walking you through right now, this is all payoff. I'm giving you practical actions that turn your vanilla draft into chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream.
What do you do if your structure isn't quite right?
If the proper information is all there, it might simply need re-ordering.
But more often than not, this is the part of the editing process where you need to do some re-writing and "hole filling."
Step #3: Remove roadblocks
Roadblocks are things that make the reader stop and go … "Huh?"
It's important to remove these because there are so many things our readers can be doing today. Any roadblock we throw up might make them decide it's easier to go check out stupid memes on Facebook.
What are some common roadblocks?
The first is unnecessary repetition.
This is pretty common in books or articles where an author is battling to meet a word count. So they'll say the same thing five different ways.
It also happens when a writer isn't 100 percent clear on what they're trying to say. So they share a single thought in a few different ways, hoping one of those ways will resonate with the reader.
Don't do this.
Make your point once; make it well. Then move on to the next one.
The second common roadblock is a big word that could be smaller.
Mark Twain (apparently) said:
"Don't use a five-dollar word when a fifty-cent word will do."
It doesn't matter how smart your readers are; they will always prefer a small word to a big one.
For example, you wouldn't write "utilize" when you could just write "use."
The third roadblock is jargon.
We all know about jargon because we've all been frustrated by reading it. But often, when we're doing corporate writing, it's not possible to remove it.
You need to use your judgement here. If jargon is putting unnecessary distance between you and the reader, then edit it out. If they're clued up on the topic, a little bit of jargon is okay.
In-jokes are another common roadblock.
These are fun if everyone gets them — but they seldom do. Remember, the people who don't get the in-joke will feel both stupid and distanced from you.
So you'd use them if you're deliberately trying to create a divide between people who get it and those who don't. In all other situations, you'd consider their use carefully.
Awkward syntax is when a sentence is grammatically correct but still sounds weird. In those situations, I always re-phrase the sentence because things that sound weird stop readers in their tracks.
The final most common type of roadblocks are sentences or paragraphs you love because they're awesome and make you sound super-smart.
You know you could cut them out because they're not actively contributing anything, but you leave them there anyway.
These are called darlings. And we all know killing our darlings makes our writing better.
Step #4: Smooth your transitions
This is a very hard one to give practical advice on, but I need to mention it anyway.
If you read through your piece and it doesn't feel like it flows very well, but your structure is sound, then you may need to use linking words like "but," "and," and "however" between your sentences.
Smooth transitions between paragraphs and sections are also necessary to keep the reader moving along. Harsh transitions where there is no obvious link between adjacent paragraphs act as a roadblock.
If you can't smoothly link two paragraphs or section, consider splitting them via sub-headings. Or do what Malcolm Gladwell does and put three dashes between the end of a paragraph and the start of a new one.

That day, during an apocalypse, Willow died on the front lines of the medical battlefield. Volcanoes erupted, earthquakes shook the mountains, and plagues devasted the people. It was the very definition of the end of the world and she stood futilely at the the edge of it all riddled with symptoms of the plague and ashes till she became one with it. She was one a famed doctor of many fields and the best physician of the best medical company in America. Yet, that all crumbled down the day she learned the existences of celestials and heaven. Who would've known that the company who she was working for was on of the masterminds of the apocalypse or that she was one of the pawns that helped them kill so many people?! 
   Abandoned by everyone and stranded in China as she passed, her only regret was her own weakness in the situation and was left with silent cries of the dead. Her guilt. However, after the end of her life, a hand appeared before her offering her a second chance at life as well as the shocking truth of the world but for a price, a mission involving the imprisonment of the God of the Underworld. Can she stand up again and complete her mission or will she shirk back into her shadows and lament at her own weakness again? 
   Just when she thought that everything was futile, she discovered that she was being stalked by a shady guy! 
   "I can help you if you want to succeed in your quest, but you must come with me." He said. 
   "Um, how about no."
   "Then, I'll take you away by force, if I have to!"
   "A challenge? Great! I've always wanted to see how much my bombs have progressed!"

Something I get asked quite a few times is to give some tips to start your own novel. As such (and because I think it can be helpful) I decided to write this short auxiliary chapter. Bear in mind that everything I am saying came from my own experience while writing Broke, and what worked for me might not necessarily work for you. Still, a few tips never harmed anyone.

TIP 1: Write everything. I have literally dozens of half-a-page stories, about everything you can imagine. Most of them I won't ever touch again, but that's how I started Broke. Some of you probably know I wrote and dropped a few novels before finally finding my calling. 

TIP 2: Try to have a consistent release schedule while at the same time maintaining the quality. That is a tad difficult, and I struggled a lot at the start. But readers won't stick either with a story poorly written and barely understandable, neither with one where they don't know if the next chapter will me tomorrow or next month. Nobody can tell you what your schedule has to be. It's pretty much trial and error, until you find one where the time you spend writing, revising, with your daily activities, work, study, and what else can be combined into some kind of routine. In my case, it's once very other day.

TIP 3: This one is more about grammar itself. I never had an editor or something of the kind, and I don't plan on having one. But you have to pay attention to grammar, especially if English is not your first language. This might be a bummer to some, but your first chapters will almost certainly have bad grammar. Only practice improves it. You have to check and revise a chapter before you release it, and stop worrying too much about it after. When you have time, later, you can go back to rewrite it.

TIP 4: Also grammar. Don't repeat the same word too many times in a row. Too make it easier to understand, take my novel as example. When I am referring to the clones, I also use the following words: troopers, soldiers, brothers. When I am talking about Ragout: Togruta, Jedi, padawan. Some kind of repetition is inevitable, but try not to overuse a word, since it make the novel feel stiff.

TIP 5: Accept criticism and suggestions. I don't mean you have to follow everything yours readers want, nor that you have to take an offense and be quiet about it. You saw by yourselves how I deleted racist, political, or just extremely rude comments. But constructive criticism, ideas and opinions HAVE to be always welcomed, even if you don't use them.

TIP 6:  Interact with your readers. Answer their comments and doubts (as politely as you can, even if the comment isn't that flattering), upvote the ones you like, and so on.

TIP 7 (and last one): Have fun. I know this sounds like a pep talk, but it's important. Remember, above all else, that you are writing for fun, or for a hobby (if you start to make money out of it, which isn't my case, it's a whole new story). If writing starts to have a negative impact in your life, take a break. I myself spent days without writing if I am in a bad mood, because I know the chapters won't be good.

Well, I believe that's all I have to say. I've wanted to write something like that for quite some time now, because I went through a lot, and grew a lot, while writing Broke. I wanted to tell you all about my experiences, a little bit to brag, I admit, but mostly I genuinely think they can be helpful to new writers. And, if you do start writing, comment about it in this chapter (not on the normal ones, please). I will love to support you like you all support me.

About the story:

Clone trooper CT-4063 is a fresh and shiny trooper directly from the clone facilities in Kamino. 
He is also one of the thousands of clones that take part on the first battle of the Clone Wars.
Go with him as he carves his path to the high comand.

Important warnings:

I had a sudden moment of inspiration, and decided to write it down.
I am not doing this to became an author and I might stop at any time.

PS: this is a Star Wars fiction
PS2: There will be no harem or romance whatsoever, essentially because it would be too different from the lore, and also because I don't like it very much.
PS3: The protagonist won't have any Force powers.
PS4: The first chapters are small, but it gets bigger as the novel go on. As such, the first chapters are in a process of revision to make them more adequate to the rest of the novel. However, the novel doesn't stop because of this.

Zhang Zian was Pi's only friend. The other elves in the pet shop could talk but Pi couldn't, and Pi was the only elfin that could type, so Pi found it difficult to communicate with others. Zhang Zian had always been worried about Pi. When he couldn't keep it company, who could relieve its loneliness?

In China, it was forbidden to have primates as pets, so Pi couldn't appear before humans. Zhang Zian couldn't explain to others that Pi wasn't an animal, it was an elfin, ruling out the possibility of Pi making friends in real life. 

Zhang Zian felt that the Internet was a good space to make friends. As the saying goes, on the Internet, nobody knows who you are.

Pi carefully thought about his suggestion, nodded, and typed: I'll try it.

So, Zhang Zian helped it join the group established by the readers. The application was approved almost instantly. The readers in the group were so exhilarated seeing that Pi had joined the group.

"Are you the author?"

"Are you really the author?"

"Are you actually the author of Pet King?"

Everyone asked questions one after another.

Zhang Zian looked at Pi with encouragement. Having just learned the skill, Pi captured the screen of the platform for authors on the Qidian website and sent the image to the group. Then Pi typed: Hello, everyone. I'm the author of Pet King. Thank you for your support!

The readers were even more excited, expressing their love of the book and their curiosity about the author.

Pi was bemused, not knowing what questions to answer first or how to answer them. Fortunately, the group's manager helped Pi in a timely manner. 

[Killed by A Sword]: Everyone, don't harass the author. You'll delay Popo's writing. 

Zhang Zian was surprised. They've given Pi a nickname?!

"Eeek."

Pi smiled. It seemed to like the nickname.

Pi found that the readers were very friendly. Whether they were discussing the plot of Pi's book or talking about their life experiences, they were very polite, which was completely different from what Pi had imagined. Every once in a while, Pi would slip in one or two sentences to express its own opinions. Each comment from Pi was praised by the readers, who would subsequently ask Pi a series of questions or urge Pi to release more chapters, making Pi feel overwhelmed again. 

As Zhang Zian watched the interaction between Pi and the readers, he knew it was a great idea to ask Pi to join the Book Group.

While chatting with the readers, Pi refreshed the website from time to time. Previously, the number of readers who had put Pet King in their libraries was 9,853. Now, the number was increasing.

9,887.

9,923.

9,945.

9,972.

Finally, the number became 9,999.

Zhang Zian held his breath, and Pi minimized the chat room window. Their eyes stared at the number, waiting for the moment when it became ten thousand.

However, reality was different from their expectations. When Pi refreshed the website once again, the number decreased to 9,998.

"Eeek."

Pi lowered its head. Every time it saw the number decline, it'd be so frustrated and thought that the readers gave up reading the book because of its poor writing. 

"Pi, raise your head."

Zhang Zian patted its shoulder, comforting it. "Pi, you have to remember that your novel isn't the Renminbi and it will never be liked by everyone. You should know that only two out of ten customers actually decide to buy my pets. Money means nothing to me." 

Pi raised its head and pointed at its chest. The gesture meant: You should be ashamed of what you just said.

However, Zhang Zian's joke had helped Pi regain its confidence and courage. Pi quickly forgot the one reader who had just left and refreshed the webpage again.

"Eeek!" Pi danced with joy. 

"Finally, 10,000! High-five!" Zhang Zian raised his right palm.

Pi lifted its small pink hand and gently hit Zhang Zian's palm. Zhang Zian wanted to celebrate, but his cell phone suddenly rang.

He took out his cell phone, thinking that it was a message from an acquaintance or merchant. He was surprised to find that Pet Hunter had opened with new three tips. 

[Game Tips]: Congratulations! Your Molecule Monkey has collected enough Strength of Faith to upgrade!

[Game Tips]: Your Molecule Monkey is currently an Elite level elfin. After upgrading, it will become an Elite/Premier elfin. 

[Game Tips]: Are you upgrading now? If you choose "No," you can upgrade it later.

[Yes/No, remind me later]

Zhang Zian was stunned. It was his first time encountering the upgrade of an elfin. 

His palm was still touching Pi's, so Zhang Zian could feel its temperature that was slightly higher than that of humans. He looked at Pi, who was staring at the computer screen with joy and refreshing the page with the other to see the number increase.  

Zhang Zian glanced at the computer screen. The Add to Library number had become 10,031.

Although he didn't pay attention to the time, he believed that the game's upgrade option popped up when the number had reached 10,000.

Was that a coincidence?

"Pi, I'm going to the bathroom. Stay here by yourself for a while. By the way, don't just chat with the readers, start writing," he said, taking his hand back.

Pi nodded and excitedly launched the Word document. However, the novelty of joining the group hadn't yet passed, and Pi still occasionally looked at the chatroom.

Zhang Zian entered the bathroom, closed the door, and said in a low voice, "Navigation Elfin, are you there?"

[Navigation Elfin]: At your service.

A flashing light appeared on the screen of Zhang Zian's cell phone. 

"Navigation Elfin, is this 'upgrade' the kind I imagined?" he asked, thinking that the Navigation Elfin would be able to understand what he meant without explanation. 

[Navigation Elfin]: Yes, the upgraded Molecule Monkey won't disappear, unless it's downgraded due to losing its Strength of Faith.

"Are there any side effects?" he asked with concern.

[Navigation Elfin]: There are no side effects.

There was no reason that the Navigation Elfin would lie, Zhang Zian believed it. "Thank you, I have no other questions."

[Navigation Elfin]: Enjoy playing your game!

The light disappeared.

Zhang Zian took a deep breath, and clicked "Yes."

[Game Tips]: Your Molecule Monkey is upgrading. Please wait!

Hello everyone! Lievel here!

Remember I promised about posting at least 2 - 3 Chapters a week? Unfortunately, I can't do that anymore. Why? It's actually like this.

When I started writing this book, I was a complete newbie who had absolutely zero writing experience.

This story that started out as my 8th Grader delusion, was something I wanted to share to the world despite the fact I hadn't read any writing tips or watched any in youtube.

However, when I started to watch guides to writing and explanations to show, 'not tell' kind of videos on youtube a few days ago, my mind practically blanked out at how badly written this book is.

I realized it now, and are currently writing a remake on the story.

I want everyone to immerse themselve in the dream that I once had in my days back, so I'll be making a complete change in how the story is approached.

I'm really sorry if any readers want to continue reading, but I'll post the first two chapters of the remake as teaser.
