Chapter 4. Essay competition (2)

On Friday, everyone in the school was more excited than usual. It wasn't just one class but the whole school was excited about the idea to leave early.

There were many students who had already made plans to go to karaoke or a movie with their friends. Several couples had also made plans to go on dates.

It was like nobody cared about the essay competition. It was just a trivial matter for them.

"It looks like winning would be easy."

Kei said to Ren while standing besides him.

"It looks like you have prepared hard for the contest."

"Yeah, I am reading and writing different types of essays for a week now."

Kei said looking a little proud of himself.

"Why are even giving this much value to a essay competition?"

"I told you right, I just wanted to give writing a chance."

"Do you really think you can win this competition?"

"I don't know. I will only know after the competition."

"Yeah, well good luck for the competition."

"Good luck to you too."

Kei said as he indulged himself in a book. It was a light novel to be exact.

Various people will think that Kei was being carefree, reading a light novel before the competition but only Ren knew that Kei had a habit of reading light novels whenever he is nervous.

Ren also didn't disturb him and started glancing around the classroom.

He noticed that most of the students had already decided what to write and some were discussing what to write with their friends.

They all had excited expressions not because of the essay competition but because they will be able to leave early today.

At that moment, the door opened and the teacher entered with a stack of papers.

The entire class fell silent seeing Shiki sensei entering the classroom. The essay competition was basically a test, requiring every homeroom teacher to oversee their respective classes.

"Take one and pass it to the person behind you. You may begin as soon as you receive your paper." 

Shiki sensei said as he passed the papers. Ren received the paper from the person in his front.

The paper was white and there were topics to choose between for the essay. There were various topics like friends, family, teachers, love, school, animals etc.

'What do I choose?'

Ren wasn't able to choose between the topics. He wasn't taking the essay competition seriously in the first place but he didn't knew what you write.

He glanced around at the classroom only to notice that excluding him, all the classmates were writing. Even Kei was writing something.

Some students were also whispering among themselves asking each other what they are going to write about. Shiki sensei didn't say anything to their behaviour.

He wasn't known for being strict in the first place, so he just let them do it.

Ren glanced around at his paper trying to find a topic he wanted to write about. As he was searching for a topic, he vision got struck on a topic at the very corner of the paper.

'Genius.'

It was a topic that didn't stand out much and Ren knew that many people will not write about this topic.

But Ren felt a connection to this word. It was a word that was stuck closely to his previous life.

Thinking about that word, Ren had a sudden impulse to write. It was a entirely different feeling. At first, he didn't take the competition seriously but now he just wanted to write.

It was a impulsive feeling to write but Ren didn't do anything about it. Before he knew it, he had a pen in his hand and his hands were writing something.

It's been quite a few days since he had came to this world but Ren hadn't write about anything. 

He knew that he had said that he will start his second life as a author if he got the chance but after coming to this world, Ren didn't have a impulse to write.

He didn't wanted to write anything half-assed only to fail again. He also wanted to take sometime to adjust to his new life.

Another reason was that he wanted to relax for sometime. In his previous life, he was continuously working, so he wanted to relax for a bit.

He also needed time to adjust to his new life. Due to these reasons, he hadn't wrote anything after coming to this world.

You could even say he hadn't found anything to write about yet but as soon as he saw the word 'Genius', the words immediately started coming out and before he knew it, he had already written on most of the paper.

"Time is up. Submit your paper quickly."

As he was writing, he heard Shiki sensei voice which woke him up from his writing trance. 

Ren glanced around the classroom and noticed that most of the students had already left the classroom. The classroom was empty and there were only four people including Shiki sensei.

First one was Ren, second was Kei and the third was a student sitting in the first bench of the first row.

Ren wasn't able to see his face as he was still writing.

"Didn't you three hear me? I said that time was finished."

Shiki sensei shouted again and this time finally everyone stopped writing.

Kei and the student sitting in the front row hastily gave their papers to Shiki sensei and after taking their paper, Shiki sensei looked towards Ren.

"Amano, your paper."

"Ha….here."

Ren stood up as he hastily gave his paper to Shiki sensei. He didn't wanted to submit his paper as he had not completed it but he had no choice as the time was finished.

As soon as Ren submitted his paper, Shiki sensei left the classroom with the same stack of papers he had entered the classroom with, the only difference was that this time the papers were filled with words.

"Did your essay went well?"

Kei asked him as he came close to him.

"I don't know how it went but I wrote with my heart."

"My essay also went well. I am just worried about it's ending. I don't have enough time to complete it."

"What did you write about?"

"Oh, I wrote about dreams."

Ren didn't remember about that topic but there were a lot of topics and he didn't remember all of them.

"You unexpectedly stayed till the end, huh."

"What do you mean?" Ren asked confusingly.

"I mean, I thought you will just write something half-assed and left like the other students and I will be the only one left till the end."

"Well, I just wrote what came to my mind and you know, there is another person who stayed till the end."

Ren said as he glanced at the other boy who stayed till the end.

"Ah, that's Minami Ryuu."

"You know about him."

Kei looked at Ren with a confused expression as he said.

"How can you not know about him when you are in the same class and he is also very popular."

"Popular? Is he famous."

"Famous? That word isn't enough to describe him. He is super famous. He is handsome, his grades are one of the top and he always excels at sports. He is one of the most famous student in the school."

"Really?"

Ren again glanced at Minami who was packing his bag and preparing to leave.

'I admit he's handsome.'

He was indeed handsome. With brown hair and a sharp and handsome face, he indeed looked fairly handsome. 

"I wonder why that person stayed till the end."

"Maybe, he's interesting in writing."

When Ren said that, Kei had a weird expression as he said.

"It could be that but he is always with his group of friends and there are also rumours about him dating various girls. That type of person would rather spend his time going to karaoke with his friends than writing."

"I wonder but it isn't our place to pay attention to. Let's go home."

"Yeah, do you want to come to my house to play the new dating sim."

"No, I have something to do today."

Fame, wealth, prestige, genius, destruction, despair, loss and failure.

He was hailed as a genius but his arrogance led him to despair. From a genius, he became a failure.

He was just struggling with his life when fate gave him a second chance.

As I previously said , the purpose of this book is to free myself . From my thoughts . But as time flew , I deleted some of them , scared someone could find them , but even more because they were impulses . The end of term exam was approaching. Chantel was not worried about the exam because she was already prepared. Adiepena and Cynthia however had been busily studying their heads off. They were all bright girls, but they were not like Chantel who could easily grasp everything she had been taught within the day and have it stuck in her brain for a long time. Yes, that's how bright she is. 

Soon, they were in the examination hall, writing their exams. Chantel just smiled at the paper when she saw the questions. As soon as they were asked to start their work, she just picked her pen and began to write like she was in no hurry. People were already sweating behind the paper, while others were whispering amongst themselves. Chantel just shook her head, and continued writing. They were writing a core subject, so that means they were all writing the same thing as first year students. 

The paper was over in a flash just the way it began. Some of the students who could not finish due to the fact that they did not know what to write were groaning in frustration. Others who had asked for the answers had began writing quickly before the invigilator got to them and snatched the paper away from them. Chantel just handed her paper to her invigilator, and walked out of the room, beaming with smiles. 

Chantel was sitting under the mango tree again, going through her book when Adiepena and Cynthia walked up to her. 

"Hey girl. What you doing?" Cynthia mocked. 

"Hi, I was just going through the exam we just wrote. You girls look happy. I am sure you guys are very happy about the exams, right?"

"See who is talking? She is behaving as if the exams was so difficult for her. We know that paper was way easy for you than any of us, so stop pretending," Adiepena and Cynthia sat down beside her. 

"Oh come on guys. It was just an English paper. I mean, it was not that hard. I don't get why people were finding it difficult to answer the questions. Anyway, I know you guys have your electives this week, right?"

"Yes," both girls said in unison and nodded. 

Chantel smiled and continued reading her book. 

"Hey, I hear there is an entertainment program on the day of vacation. And I hear other schools will be coming." Cynthia said. 

"Yeah. I have heard about how our school is known for hosting the best entertainment programs in this area. Other schools have been trying to compete with us, but they have not been able to."
Adiepena added. 

"I can't wait to see how it turns out. I really want to attend and see how it is." Cynthia said again. 

"Well, Kevin will be there so I guess I will be going too." Chantel let it slip. 

"What? What did you just say?" both of them looked at her in disbelief. 

"Nothing. It's nothing," Chantel quickly said and went back to reading the book she was holding in her hand. 

Cynthia snatched the book from her, since she was sitting close to her. 

"Cynthia, give me back my book!" 

"Nope. Unless you repeat what you just said. I thought you said you never liked to attend that kind of school functions. So, why are you suddenly changing your mind."

"I know why. It's because of Kevin. Did you not hear her when she said he will be coming?" Adiepena said, making Chantel keep quiet again. 

"Really? Is that the reason?" Cynthia looked at Chantel with a shocked face. 

Chantel sighed and took her book back from Cynthia, who had dropped the book on her lap because of the shock she was having from what she just heard. 

"Yes, he invited me. I said yes because I was curious to know how these functions work. That's all."

"How they work? Come on, it's just some sort of a party. You just go there to have fun. That's it," Cynthia stated. 

"Chantel, are you very sure about this? Are you sure Kevin is the one you want to be with?" Adiepena asked. 

Chantel nodded. "Of course. I know he and I haven't dated for long but, I know he is the one for me. I really care about him and I really hope things turn out better for us."

"I hope so. I really do. Because, if that boy make you shed a single tear, I will make sure to bite his tongue out," Cynthia warned, looking very serious. 

"O-kay. I did not want to have that bloody imagination in my head. Seriously, you don't need to solve everything with violence. The best thing we should be doing is hoping for the best for our friend. She needs our support, not just our criticism." Adiepena advised. 

"Yes I know that, it's just that I can't shake that bad feeling away. I feel like he is going to hurt her. I don't know how, but I know he will."

"Oh come on, Cynthia. I know you don't trust him. But please, don't say things like that about him. He is a good person and I know he won't hurt me. I don't know how many times I should say this."

"Okay o. I am sorry. I will not say things like that about him again. Happy now?"

Chantel just smiled. She knew it would be hard to convince her friends, especially Cynthia, to trust Kevin. But she knew she will be able to do it. She was determined to make that her goal. 

Finally, it was time for the last paper, which happened to be mathematics. Most of the students were already worried and murmuring amongst themselves. Some were just having this passive looks on their faces. As if they did not care about the exams, but deep down, they were very worried. 

Chantel, did not worry about it at all. She had studied a lot and was very prepared for the exam. She and her friends had studied day and night for the exam. Chantel had no problems with maths, the one who had difficulties with it was Cynthia. She never understood most of the topics and found it hard to solve them. Chantel became like her personal teacher, and began to take her through the topics they had studied, one after the other. 

Chantel was actually a good teacher, because, with her help, Cynthia was able to understand most of the topics and could now solve it on her own. Before the day for the exams, Chantel decided to test her friends with a couple of maths questions. They all solved it together before they went to bed. 

So, on the day of the exam, when the question paper was laid in front of Chantel, she said a short prayer. Then turned over the paper when they asked to. When she saw the questions, she smiled to herself and almost jumped for joy. The questions they had solved the night before were the ones lying before her. She turned a little and saw Adiepena and Cynthia both smiling at her. Both of them having that happy and proud looks on their faces. 

The exam was over. Everybody handed over their papers and walked out. Adiepena and Cynthia caught up with Chantel and hugged her tight. 

"Chantel, thank you so much. If it wasn't for you, I would never have been able to solve this question. Thank you," Cynthia hugged her again. Chantel nodded at her friend, and was happy for her. Adiepena soon joined them as they all came together in a group hug.

Chantel has always being a bright girl. Her parents are well to do but she never let that get into her head. Right after her junior high school, she attained a full scholarship to study in one of the best senior high schools. There, she met Kevin, who promised her heaven and earth. But things did not turn out the way she expected it to be and she had to leave school. She hated Kevin for ruining her life, and vowed never to love again. 


Years later, she met Kevin again. But she could not forgive him. Kevin made his quest to get Chantel to love him again, like she used to. Will he be able to get Chantel to love him? Will Chantel give Kevin another chance to prove himself? Find out more from this intriguing story.

Ecstatic moments they're beyond happiness , happiness is beyond each and every smile . The maximum happiness leads to a long time loneliness, being lonely its not like you're being abandoned but you're given space to be strong and be intrepid to prepare for the upcoming joy and you'll rejoice the whole mood of happiness in your life. ( It's Saturday morning after a week without seeing her. I'm preparing to go and write a mock test Mathematics paper one, I wasn't sure whether I'm ready or not because I never had enough practice but what I knew was that paper one was one of my favourite. As I was packing my stationary in the morning I received a message from Sandile). " Good morning broh, I hope you're good. I don't have enough airtime so I decided to write an sms to notify you that I'll knock off my home at 07:30am, if possible please fetch me so we can walk to school together". ( It was already 7 o'clock in the morning  and it's twenty minutes walk from home to Sandile's crib, went to my mother's bed room to say goodbye then I sent to my friend's place). (Door knocking ×2), " Come in" Her young sister replied . (I thought he already left) " Morning Mbali , is your brother available ?" (She was ironing her T-shirt) "Yes, but I'm not sure what he's doing, he has been in his room for a while but he's already done bathing " She replied . " Can you please call him and notify him that I'm waiting" (as I was sitting on a couch). "Sandile! your friend is waiting for you here" she shouted. "I'm coming!" he replied. ( He came carrying his school bag with his left hand and mathematics textbook with right hand). " Hey broh, how's you?" he greeted. " I'm good thanks , what have you been doing in your room , I kept on waiting for you and it's twenty five minutes to eight now" bored. " I was reminding myself with functions boy but don't worry it's all in mind now, let's go" he answered. ( I stood up and on our way out he forgot a pen then he went back to his room and took the pen then we left off to school. we arrived early at school as it was only five minutes left before eight o'clock. Everybody was talking about the challenging topics that they might face in the paper and the most mentioned topic it was functions. Kabelo is one of our classmates so we took him as a friend but not closest friend). "Hey guys I'm sure you're both ready especially Simphiwe I know that mathematics it's your own food " Kabelo stated. " No broh, it's not about being bright here it's all about practice and be prepared when you're going to write, but I doubt that I'm prepared or everybody is prepared because we all know that no one takes a mock test serious" I said. " Eish yah that's true, there's a part in functions that's confusing me broh I don't know if you can tip me before we write on how we do it. The part where you're given two function graphs f (x) and g (x) then they question says 'for which values of x will the graph of f  be greater than the graph of g' ". ( I took my pencil and scrap paper and draw two graphs of f and g on a Cartesian plane) " firstly you're going to compare using the y-axis you check the graph of f where it is on top of graph of g then you mark the starting point where it is greater from the other and the ending point simultaneously, then look at your point and check in which value of x does your starting and ending point lies , write those values down". ( The teacher arrived carrying question papers just after I've explain everything ) " Good morning learners may you please put all your bags in front and be left with only your pen, ruler ,pencil and eraser on your table as I'm issuing our papers ". ( The pressure increased in class because most of the learners wasn't prepared, she gave us papers and answer sheet then we started writing a three hour paper). (Two and a half hour later) "For those who're done they can bring their answer sheet in front and leave the class room". (No one stoop up, until the time was up) " Ok guys the time is up, stop writing!". ( She collected the papers but some of the learners were still writing) " Guys I said stop writing! she shouted ". ( After the collection of papers) " Next week Monday guys you will be writing English first paper but Tuesday you're not writing, so I think we can do corrections for this mock test as we're writing final paper on Friday it's mathematics first paper"she said. "Teacher, What time should we come on Tuesday?" Sam asked . "Well I think we can meet at 9 o'clock in the morning, so that we can not disturb matriculants as they'll be writing Life sciences afternoon we should be done with corrections" she replied . ( The time was pressurized in such a way that I never had spare time to spend with my girlfriend ).

(Three weeks later after the last paper of final exam) "Hey broh how was the paper?" . "Umm the paper was just difficult and I prefer us not to talk about it" Sandile replied.  "But I thought you nailed it , especially on the climatology" I said.  " Well I can say that but you can't make it with only one topic out of four topics on the paper " (losing hope). " I understand broh that was a very long paper , I couldn't even finish it " I commented . "Yeah yeah, Only the results will confirm when the school closes " He huffed. (We went home just after eating lunch , along the way I wished to see her but she was no where to be found, I couldn't stop thinking about her , I felt like the loneliness is with me).

The book emphasis the feelings of a young man who love his girlfriend and still wishing to be with her in future,so he called this book "Destiny to heaven".
Destiny to heaven describes the journey that they will both sacrifice to take together until they are separated by death . A destiny to heaven is more likely to have challenges that might twist your mind and faith until you lose your way to reach your destiny . The love can be expressed in different ways including feelings,but fake feelings easily fade up, because they lack trust and believe. This book gives clarity about true love, trustworthy, honesty and loyalty .
