Online literature was still in its infancy, the current system was far less mature and sound than it would be in a couple of years, and the available subject matter wasn't rich. Everything was still in it's growing stages, and there were few clear set genre distinctions, many of the genres of the future hadn't even been properly formed yet. 
In theory if he wanted to write a new novel, he could, after all, there were the many genres of later generations to pick from but in reality though Jiang Cheng had a lot to consider.
The first problem was the real issue. Although the era of the Internet had begun, various new phrases and expressions were just emerging, it wasn't as developed as it would be in a few years. 
The culture and framework for certain types of stories just weren't in place and it would take more than one novel to create them. For example system novels, slice of life, video game novels and the different forms of cultivation novels which would be formed in the future didn't really have a place in the current literature world.
They would be formed over time naturally as things developed, which was why he created Starting Point Literature to get a slice of the cake, but trying to think of a novel to support Starting Points launch he realised a lot of novels and ideas just wouldn't blend or be deemed acceptable by others.
Looking to [Stories About The Ming Dynasty] wasn't reliable because the language was simple and at grassroot level, in order to appeal to the general public. Plus the book was about history, which was a pretty universal genre. Novels which were rich in "popular expressions'' and jokes from the future wouldn't work as well. 
Then came the subject matter. Jiang Cheng was a very cautious person, so cautious that he made sure to become an expert in Ming history in order to write [Stories About The Ming Dynasty], he wasn't willing to write about topics he didn't understand.
Finally, there was the issue of writing standard. Jiang Cheng's writing was great, and he was currently being praised as a model for everyone, so those quick cash grab novels or poorly written novels were of the table.
In this way, he narrowed down the genres he could write down to; Martial Arts, Xianxia, Magical Realism, Romance and History.
Among them, in the history category he had already written [Stories About The Ming Dynasty] so he didn't want to write another history novel. At least not until the series was completely published.
Magical Realism, he just felt was too broad plus he didn't really like the genre. 
For the Romance category there was [Autumn's Concerto] which was coming out as a TV show next year so he decided to skip it as well.
Therefore, only Martial Arts and Xianxia were left before Jiang Cheng.
Jiang Cheng loved the two themes very much. Needless to say, martial arts, who didn't dream of learning martial arts and becoming the next Bruce Lee when they were younger? Plus martial arts culture was already an integral part of Chinese culture. As for Xianxia, ​​it was actually essentially an extension of martial arts. Mythical fantasy built on the basis of martial arts.
Jiang Cheng was very optimistic about the two themes, and was slightly unwilling to give up either. However, his energy was limited. He only had little more than a month left before he had to head to school, just about enough time to write another book.
After the semester started, he wanted to properly dedicate his time to learning to act plus Shanghai Tangren would be starting filming for [Autumn's Concerto] later on and would likely call on him.
He couldn't pick anything that would take too long to write.
Having a hard time and being unable to choose, Jiang Cheng thought of Jiang Dejun and decided to ask him for his opinion.
Unexpectedly, Jiang Dejun, who had always attached great importance to traditional culture and who he thought would advise him to choose martial arts, actually chose Xianxia!
"Martial arts can be said to have a long history in our country. From the Song Dynasty's [The Seven Heroes and Five Gallants] to [Water Margin], even [Stories About The Ming Dynasty] can be said to be a martial arts novel in some ways. 
However for the Xianxia theme you're talking about, Zhuzhu's [Story of Swordsman from Shushan Mountain] is the closest I can think of but even that was not completely separated from the category of martial arts. 
Martial arts novels in recent years have been given a new rebirth by authors like Jin Yong, Gu Long, Liang Yusheng and Wen Ruian!"
"However, in recent years with the retirement of Jin Yong and the rest and there being fewer and fewer traditional literati in recent years, the amount of decent works being written has fallen. Whilst Jin Yong, Gu Long and the others helped revive and create a new school of martial arts novels, due to their standing and reputations it seems people can't escape the framework set by them!"
Jiang Dejun said whilst sighing.
"You grew up reading novels by Jin Yong, Gu Long and the others, it's too easy for you to be influenced by them. On the contrary, listening to your explanation, I think the theme of Xianxia is very good, it can give you more reign to play with your imagination and creativity, just like you did in "[Stories About The Ming Dynasty]. Of course, this is just a suggestion. It's up to you to decide which one you choose. If you choose martial arts, I look forward to seeing a new take on martial arts that can break down the current framework! "
Listening to Jiang Dejun's suggestion, Jiang Cheng was even more torn.
Martial arts novels weren't easy to write. Without profound planning, understanding of traditional Chinese culture, and a martial arts background, it was nigh impossible to write a good novel. A good martial arts novel often took several years to write, for example [The Legend of the Condor Heroes] was still constantly being revised by Jin Yong.
Then....should I choose Xianxia? Jiang Cheng questioned. 
In fact he already had a novel in mind, for Xianxia, the novel [Zhu Xian]. 
The novel [Zhu Xian] had a pivotal position in later generations of online literature. Once published in China, it soared to the Chinese, Hong Kong and Taiwanese bestsellers list. With it's imaginative and powerful narrative, it quickly became the pinnacle of Chinese Xianxia literature. It even became famous overseas after being translated.
Throughout the novel, love, affection, friendship and the battle between right and evil was brought together, the writing was beautiful and the story was vivid. With more than 30 million views online, it was hailed as a pioneering work in a new generation of domestic Xianxia novels comparable to the legendary [Story of Swordsman from Shushan Mountain], a masterpiece of Xianxia.
The plot of [Zhu Xian] had its ups and downs and the characters were distinct. It provided a unique take on a Eastern Xianxia world at the time, with grand and detailed world building. The love story was especially famous. One of the questions repeatedly explored in the book was 'what was good and evil in a world without benevolence, where the strong reigned'.
The love story between Zhang Xiaofan, Bi Yao and Lu Xueqi touched the fans of [Zhu Xian] and caused the creation of fandoms for each. People actively argued online over who they shipped more, and why one female lead was better than the other. 
The story had love, family and friendship and the way it dealt with each was thought-provoking and unforgettable. It wasn't simply a hack and slash novel like most cultivation stories would become like in the future. 
However, [Zhu Xian] wasn't flawless, and there were still issues. The most distressing and regretful thing for readers was how long Xiao Ding took to update and finish the book. The ending of the book also left many things unsolved and created plot holes.
But despite the few flaws, [Zhu Xian] was still a classic among Xianxia novels.
However, if Jiang Cheng were to write the book, he couldn't make the same mistakes, he would have to make up for these deficiencies.
But, Jiang Cheng was confident he could edit, fix out any plot holes and create a satisfying ending. 
But despite this, he still couldn't make up his mind to write [Zhu Xian]. 

Jiang Cheng a screenwriter is reincarnated to 2001, into the seventeen-year-old body of another Jiang Cheng. 

Clutching onto the dreams of his previous life he attempts to succeed where he previously failed. 

He starts from scratch, as a small-time screenwriter writing television shows and movie scripts.

Reminded by Galaxy, Zhang Zian remembered the matter of that book. Having no time to bicker with Famous, he quickly extended his neck and secretly glanced at the untitled book.
Pi did not seem to mind everyone looking at the content of the untitled book. Instead, it proudly gestured to Galaxy and yelled, "Eeek!"

Zhang Zian wondered if he was looking at the book from the wrong angle.  He walked over and looked at the page from above, but it was still blank.
"Famous, can you see the words on the book?" He turned to ask Famous.
Famous looked down and said with a look of embarrassment, "Is there any word in this book? Isn't it blank?"
Zhang Zian really wanted to embrace Famous, because he was not the only one who could not see the words in the book. However, Famous blinked and said, "It seems like there are indeed words in the book. But they are too vague, and I can't see them clearly..."
Damn it!
Could those words only be viewed by the elves? But why did the words seem so vague to Famous?
"Is there any word in the book, Galaxy?" Zhang Zian asked.
"Meow! There are so many words! It's a fantastic story!" Galaxy nodded excitedly.

"Are those words clear?" he asked again.
Galaxy nodded again. "Very clear!"
Famous started to doubt itself. Why did the words seem so vague to its eyes?
"Eeek!"
Pi flipped the page and pointed to another seemingly blank page and made Galaxy look at it.
"Meow! This is even better!" Galaxy exclaimed again and read the book with relish.
Zhang Zian was really irritated by the feeling that others could see something that he could not. If it weren't for the fact that Zhang Zian trusted Galaxy, he would have definitely thought that Pi united with Galaxy to trick him deliberately. 
Pi flipped the pages swiftly and pointed to those pages for Galaxy, who exclaimed continuously at every new page. Zhang Zian and Famous watched them helplessly. 
Soon, Zhang Zian discovered a bizarre thing. The thicknesses of the pages of the left and right side of the book that was spread out on the floor had not changed. No matter how many pages Pi had turned, the pages on the right side of the book would not decrease, and the pages on the left side would not increase either. 
Pi was indeed turning pages rather than performing magic. From the look of Galaxy, the stories on each page were different.
The number of pages in the untitled book seemed to be infinite.
To be honest, Zhang Zian had expected that this book contained an infinite number of pages, otherwise, the untitled book would not be a book about life, the universe, and everything else.
"Meow!"
Just when Pi was about to turn a page, Galaxy suddenly extended a paw, and pressed the current page.
"Eeek?"
Pi revealed a puzzled expression, staring at Galaxy blankly. It did not know why Galaxy suddenly stopped it from turning pages.
"Meow! Galaxy likes this story the most," Galaxy said solemnly.

"Meow!" Galaxy tilted its head and said to Pi, "Pi, write it out!"
"Eeek?"
Pi was stunned, pointing at its own chest.
"Meow! Pi, you have read many books, haven't you?" Galaxy said. "You have read more books than anyone of us."
Pi nodded bashfully.
Galaxy added, "Meow! Pi, aren't you practicing typing in Chinese?"
Galaxy looked at the newspaper that Pi used as a template for typing. "Pi, rather than repeating the stories of someone else, why don't you type this story? Galaxy wants to read this story. Meow!"
Pi lowered its head hesitantly. Its empty hand was drawing circles nervously on the floor. 
"Meow! Pi, Galaxy believes that you can do it!"
Galaxy continued encouraging Pi, and it tilted its head to consult Zhang Zian's opinion. "Zian, don't you think so?"
Zhang Zian couldn't understand what they were saying. He just managed to laugh, "Well... I think so, too. I really want to read this story."

His words were not entirely false. After all, the dialogue between Galaxy and Pi had roused his interest. He really wanted to read the story that had fascinated Galaxy and Pi.
"Meow! Famous, what about you?" Galaxy asked Famous.
Famous also nodded curiously, "Pi, I will support you."
"Meow! Pi, have you heard it? Everyone will support you. Fina, Snowy Lionet, Old Time Tea, and Richard will certainly support you. Everyone wants to read this story!"
Galaxy seldom said such a long sentence, which had shown the importance that Galaxy attached to this matter.
"Eeek?"
Pi looked at Galaxy, Zhang Zian, and Famous, and then pointed to itself, meaning: Can I do it?
"Meow! Sure, you can!" Galaxy nodded vigorously.
Zhang Zian also echoed, "Yes, Pi, if you don't try it, how can you know that you can't? You may or may not succeed. But if you don't try it, you will never know the answer."
Pi bowed its head. When it lifted its head again, there seemed to be more implication contained in its eyes. 
It jumped on the swivel chair and typed in the Word document: I want to write a novel.
Zhang Zian was slightly surprised, but he immediately said, "Sure, go ahead."
Pi typed: It is an online novel. 
Zhang Ian smiled with excitement. "Writing an online novel… Let me tell you what kind of online novels will become easily popular. You can write such a story: In the Handsome Continent, the handsome guys are the best. Jie Jie took a screenshot of the conversation. "In case this guy wakes up and rethink his life choices!"

What? Still a year? If he hadn't intervened, his sister would indeed be old and grey the day it was finished. 

Yun: >Half a year!< 

Jie²: >Impossible! I still have work! D: < 

Yun: >Quit your work.< 

Why does she think he is sponsoring her anyways? It's so she could concentrate on writing this novel. Unless she makes more money with that work of hers, she can't complain about losing money in this deal. 

Jie²: >My future depends on it! >__< < 

Yun: >Think about it again.< 

Yang Yun did not need to rush her. If she just thought about it, this deal was a no brainer. Actually, he was the one on the losing end. Apart from making his sister happy, there was no gain for him. 

But Jie Jie had a thousand thoughts running through her head. On the one hand, he was right. She wanted the money badly. Who wouldn't? On the other hand, she had all the right reasons to refuse. 

If she quits being a bestseller author to write an unknown online novel, would she still be an author? Jie Jie was reluctant to risk her hard-earned pseudonym. To be an author or not to be? 

Mari was right; the money was right in front of her eyes. She can put her book on hold, go for the fast money option, and come back to work to serialize her book later. But would they still be interested in the book after it went cold for some time? And the film deal, she doubted they would want her a year later or even half a year. They would have settled with someone else's book by then. She might have to start from scratch. Time was also money.

Greedy or naive authors often lose face at the end, when a live-action adaption turns out to be too poorly produced. All their hard work would end up being laughed upon. 

A renowned author, who was her former college professor and mentor, had publicly declared that he would rather eat dirt than having his work taken by the film industry since they were so unreliable and lacked the heart and soul of storytelling, only craving to make money with mainstream adaptions and easy to digest cheap flicks. If she were to sell her book out carelessly, he might remove her from the list of his protégés and never acknowledge her again. 

Honestly, with enough effort, she could write that online novel and help out the screenwriters. The real challenge was the next installment. The publishing company has already signed a deal for a continuation, and a deadline was drawn. Doing all three at once was impossible. Would she be able to delay the due date for the second book? Totally not. 

"But they pay less for the next installment than this guy for the online novel... even if I repay them for breaking the contract I would still make a profit." 

She took a reluctant look at the printed copy of her book, which she has treated like the apple of her eye until now. 

"My dearest, I am about to disappoint you."

The appeal of money was just too strong. Unless she has to sell her body, Jie Jie could not confidently say no anymore. Selling one's skill, that's what people do if they want to survive in this world.

Jie²: >I can do daily updates. But I need all the holidays off. Also, I will have to take leave once in a while on multiple occasions.< 

Yun: >No wonder you took so long updating. Your working morale is genuinely questionable.< 

Jie Jie almost shattered her phone on the spot upon reading that line. 

"This b-...! Does he think I'm lazy! Crazy bas-...!" 

If it weren't for the money, she might have deleted him right away. With trembling fingers, she typed back: 

Jie²: >Mr. Yun, don't get me wrong, I will not slack off and make sure the number of uploads and quality will be to your satisfaction. But there are personal matters I have to attend which are indispensable ^____^ < 

She was so angry that she wanted to sit down and write the whole story in one go now, paid or not, to show this guy how good of a writer she was. 

Jie²: >I will try to finish it the fastest way possible as well, to show you my sincerity!< 

Although she had wanted to take things slowly, now that her success is within reach, taking in this job was somewhat ludicrous. So much money just for a story she hadn't thought of that much in the beginning. She started this story on a whim and as a fangirl. It was still hanging in the air; it's plot and ending still at her mercy. Although there was a rough draft for the next few chapters, she has no backbone to tell this man that he was investing in hot air at this time. Who told him to anyways? He doesn't sound like a fanboy. He hasn't asked any question about the novel itself and showed no interest whatsoever - aside from how fast she could write. 

"I can do it; I can start seriously with this. Since there is no plot, I can develop one. If there's no end, I will think of one. Since I don't know how long it will take, I will adjust it to the shortest time possible!" 

Although she had a guilty conscience deceiving him, this was what negotiation basically was. You try to get the best out of it. He said he wanted the story the fastest way possible. Jie Jie had said a year, but a year was an estimate she picked out of the blue. Half a year as he demanded may or may not be enough, but since she only has a rough outline, anything was fine - she can adjust the length of the story. If she was stumped for time, she could leave out some subplot. If she has too little content, she could add some fillers. 

Yun: >Don't you dare cut the story short. If you lose content or your writing quality drops, I will know.<

Jie²: >What do you think of me, I would never do something like that! You should have more trust in people! ^__^' < 

Ah, she was just thinking about it, ok? Just thinking! In the end, she was still a professional. She would not slight her story, even if it were an online novel. Now that she was paid to write it, she would give it even more thought than before. That's a given! 

Yun: >I will change the conditions and prepare a new contract.<

Jie²: >??< 

A little caution never killed somebody. After talking with this person, Yang Yun decided to change the contract according to a hunch. The more people tell you to trust them, the less they were trustworthy.

And thus the two of them spent the longest time arguing about the contract.

Clear Sky Knife Luo… Little Silver felt like he had heard this title from somewhere; it sounded very familiar!
Because Grandfather Wang had been occupied these last few days with honing his knife skills, Mother Wang was now responsible for making all the meals in the Wang family. Ever since she stopped writing to become a housewife, she actually learned a lot of life skills. Apart from managing the household, she spent all her free time taking all kinds of qualification exams.
Mother Wang had taken especial care with the dishes tonight and had meticulously planned the pairing of the meat and vegetables.
The first dish was crystal radish. This was an imported ingredient which was very expensive. However, it just so happened to be on sale today, and she had bought two of them in passing. One she saved for another time, while she sliced the other and stir-fried it with shredded meat. She called this dish: stir-fried radish king.
The meat dish was vegetable meatballs, also called vegetable lion's head[1]. It was made with a mix of diced broccoli and meat rolled into balls with egg and flour. Broccoli actually wasn't the original vegetable ingredient, but they couldn't finish all the broccoli they had at the Wang family home. As a result, every time Mother Wang left home, she would take a few bags of broccoli with her to give out.
Although broccoli had been used as the vegetable substitute, which made the lion's head less chewy, that didn't stop Wang Ling from enjoying it. Since it was a little more troublesome to make this dish, Mother Wang would usually only make it if they had visitors, which proved just how much Mother Wang liked Little Silver!
Oh, that was right, Mother Wang named the dish: lion's head eating vegetables.
With the remaining two dishes, one was Wang Ming's favorite coral grouper; it was a pity he wasn't there today. The other dish was tonight's soup; it was a mushroom soup made with imported C mushrooms and bottled mushrooms[2], which was very good for the intestines.
"Miss Silver, you're so thin, eat more. If it's not enough, there's more in the pot." Mother Wang smiled at Little Silver as she ladled out a bowl of rice.
Little Silver lowered his head shyly. "It's enough, enough. I actually eat very little, usually!"
Wang Ling and Loopy Toad cast disdainful looks at him one after another.

Holding the bowl and chopsticks, Little Silver didn't dare eat until he saw Wang Ling pick up some food. "That, where's Senior Wang?"
Master's lord father! He remembered that the few times he had visited the Wang family's small villa, he had had very little opportunity to see Senior Wang.
"He's busy writing, let's eat first. He's always like this." Mother Wang smiled helplessly. "I'll bring some food to him later."

He suddenly recalled seeing Grenade-Throwing Senior Immortal reading a book when the latter had spare time at home, and not just reading but also studying from it. Little Silver now completely understood — it turned out that Grenade-Throwing Senior Immortal was reading Senior Wang's novel!
If Master was already so awesome, then how strong was Senior Wang… there definitely had to be some lessons to be gleaned from the novel!
At night, it was Grenade-Throwing Senior Immortal who specially came to the Wang family's small villa to bring Little Silver home, because he was afraid that if Little Silver went back on his own, the latter would be detained and taken to the police station yet again. "I think what we lack is practice!" Little Silver turned off his phone. Although he had only just started reading the novel, he was so excited as he was seized by a strong urge to write.
Previously, Little Silver had wondered if there was a way for him to make money without needing to leave the house! He had looked online for a long time and had only found some positions for freelance typists, half of which were probably fake.
After living at Grenade-Throwing Senior Immortal's place for so long, Little Silver felt that he needed to learn to rely on himself!
And just then, he was hugely inspired by "Senior Wang."
"Grenade-Throwing!"
Little Silver looked at him with a very earnest expression.
