Oops.. i am sorry i was absent yesterday. Well, there was nothing so special about yesterday and I was also feeling kind of tired so i thought it would be better to get an early sleep. 
Weather is very foggy and cold here. I am loaded full of warm clothes. And I don't know why, my head is spinning a bit today. I wanted to sleep today also, but I can't take such long breaks. I already had one last day. So I thought it would be better to talk to you first before going to sleep. And that's why, I am here.😉😁

About today, it is intensely interesting. Tomorrow afterwards, I am going to write my exams. Although these exams doesn't matter even a bit because they are practice exams for finals, but the school is taking it very seriously. 
Teachers are forcing every student to attend these exams OFFLINE. And you know, this is the pandemic time. None of us had a proper class. All the classes were taken online, which I call nothing but a formality. Because believe me, no one is ready to write exams with such a lame study. We weren't studying, we were just pretending. Like we do in holidays. That's why, no one wants to write exams offline. 
Everyone is seeking for an online option, because in this way, atleast you will get a little help and improve your marks by improper means. I know it's wrong, but when you are in my condition, or in condition of any student from my area, the only thing that matters is how much marks you score. 
No is gonna check your skills. For them, that piece of paper describes what you really are. No one is gonna check your callibre. That's why, students have to do it unwillingly. You can see, how struggling life we have. No one is going to understand you. They will keep high hopes on you, and if you are not able to stand of their hopes, you are useless, cheap..a f*cking unnecessary load on earth. 
Well, that's why I had to convience teacher to allow me to write my exams online. And I was trying all the combinations by which I could convience him. Suddenly, two days ago, some people in my neighborhood got tested Covid positive. Now it's not a thing to be happy and I am also not an insensitive person, but believe me, when I heard this, I was really happy. Don't consider me as a bad person lol, because I am not. I was just happy that I got an excuse to tell the teachers that why I can't leave my house. Danger has surrounded me. Well.. all these things were hypothetically possible because no one.. literally no one is taking covid-19 seriously in my area. The teachers also are saying that I don't care if there is a covid positive student sitting next to them. They just want students to appear in school and write their exams. This was a problem here. But believe me, I am a guy who can find solutions of any problem. 
Luckily (tho I feel ashamed saying this), the family which is covid positive, is the family of a senior officer of my father. And he is a doctor. So, everyone is taking more precautions. 
In today's online class, me and my other three classmates (ex-friends) stopped at the end to have a talk with the class teacher. We four students are the star of the class, the best students you can say. That's why, we planned to talk to him after class in private.  When all students left the meet, we talked to sir about it. I had already talked yesterday on this topic to him(sorry, I forgot to tell you earlier) and convinced him to let me write my exams online by using the excuses. I was just there to company my friends ( it's easy to say, so let's use the same word) and ensure completely that we all are going to write our exams online. 
My friend Venessa, her grandfather died some days ago. I am really sorry for her loss. So, she is attending his funeral in village, far from us and the school. So, there is no possible way that she can attend the school and write exams offline. So, her matter was also clear. 

Now, the other two left were Derek and Ayesha. They are always rumoured to be lovebirds. Derek is my bestfriend (you can say). When schools were open and we were intensely close, anyone could say that I and Derek are non-identical twins. You could always find us together. And Derek had told me once, also it was obvious to all.. that he has a crush of Ayesha. And I think Ayesha also knows this. Still, they are also good friends and very close. So close that I think they has started dating, tho I don't have enough evidence to prove this. And they go to same tutoring classes.
 Last night,I gave Derek the idea that they both can say that their tutoring teacher and one of the students have been found Covid positive and they are home isolated. That's the same they did today, and after some chit chats with teacher, we were allowed to write our exams offline. Earlier, there was another guy also in the plan, Hermes. But, he betrayed at the end and tomorrow, he is going to write exams offline, while we can write our exams online. 
 Phew, Such a long story.
Well, it needed a long demonstration anyways. I also had to compensate for yesterday's absence, and I think this is enough for that haha.. And wait, My head is spinning no more. Whoo.. literally talking to you makes me calm and relax. You are boon to me, my dear cutie. Love you.

How did I spent my day?
Here, me and self.. discussing about everything that happened today.

Yuuki decided to meet another party after 3 days, he needed to write 'Sword Art Online', before he met them. He needed to prepare everything and made his company run as soon as possible. He said goodbye to both Mihari and Minamo.

"Is it fine to buy that company?" Ruki was quite worried for Yuuki to buy that company on a whim.

"Do you have some good writer on your mind?" Tsubasa thought that Yuuki knew some light novel author, so he decided to buy that company.

"Don't worry about it, I'll write the light novel after I going home," Yuuki said.

His words made both girls stunned.

"You'll write a light novel? Aren't you manga artist?" Ruki was dumbfounded.

"Yeah, I'll write it, be sure to buy it when it has been published," Yuuki said.

Tsubasa looked at him with admiration gaze, Yuuki could do anything fight, manga, music, game, and now, light novel? She was wondering if there was something he couldn't do.

They walked for a while until Yuuki decided to separate from them, he needed to write his light novel after all.

"I'm sorry that I couldn't go with you to celebrate your success on publishing manga," Yuuki said.

Tsubasa shook her head, "Don't worry, I understand," though, she felt quite disappointed.

Yuuki patted her head, "How about you, we celebrate it later, I'll also bring everyone there."

"Really?" Tsubasa looked excited.

Yuuki nodded, "Yes, let's do it, we'll make a great party there!"

"Good, I'll also invite my friend from my dorm, right, Ruki?" Tsubasa looked at Ruki.

Ranko and Eriri didn't say anything it was still shocking for them for Yuuki to buy a company.

"Publishing company, especially for the light novel," Yuuki said while looking at Utaha.

Utaha was stunned but also blushing, "I-is it for me?" She was a light novel writer, she thought Yuuki bought this company for her since she would publish her light novel.

"Well, there is also that, but, I also want to write my own light novel there," Yuuki said while lit up his cigarette. He smoked it for a while and went to his laptop, his answer made everyone stunned again, they had never thought, he would make his own light novel, he could do anything. They were wondering if there was something he couldn't do.

They were still in their own thought until they woke up for a while and noticed Yuuki was writing his own light novel. They were curious what kind of light novel he would write.

Utaha looked quite vexed that Yuuki could make light novel and she sighed when she was on her own thought until someone pulled her. She was being hugged by him.

"Your novel is great and as your number 1 fans, I'll guarantee it, believe in yourself," Yuuki kissed her forehead.

Utaha nodded at him and liked being spoiled like this by him.

Yuuki looked at Ranko and told her to get closer, he felt she was quite jealous by Utaha.

Ranko nodded and also hugged him.

"If you have something, you'd like to do just do it, okay, I'll support it," Yuuki said.

"Hmph, though, I only want to take care of your child," Ranko said while smiling.

Yuuki's eyes lit up and held both of them on his arms.

"Kyaa!!" 

"Don't worry, if you want a child to let make it now," Yuuki was smiling.

"Wa-wait!!"

"Wait!!"

"Eriri, you can continue to draw or go home, I'll take care of both of them," Yuuki said then left her behind.

Eriri was alone in the room felt quite lonely, it wasn't like she wanted a boyfriend too!!!

Online literature was still in its infancy, the current system was far less mature and sound than it would be in a couple of years, and the available subject matter wasn't rich. Everything was still in it's growing stages, and there were few clear set genre distinctions, many of the genres of the future hadn't even been properly formed yet. 
In theory if he wanted to write a new novel, he could, after all, there were the many genres of later generations to pick from but in reality though Jiang Cheng had a lot to consider.
The first problem was the real issue. Although the era of the Internet had begun, various new phrases and expressions were just emerging, it wasn't as developed as it would be in a few years. 
The culture and framework for certain types of stories just weren't in place and it would take more than one novel to create them. For example system novels, slice of life, video game novels and the different forms of cultivation novels which would be formed in the future didn't really have a place in the current literature world.
They would be formed over time naturally as things developed, which was why he created Starting Point Literature to get a slice of the cake, but trying to think of a novel to support Starting Points launch he realised a lot of novels and ideas just wouldn't blend or be deemed acceptable by others.
Looking to [Stories About The Ming Dynasty] wasn't reliable because the language was simple and at grassroot level, in order to appeal to the general public. Plus the book was about history, which was a pretty universal genre. Novels which were rich in "popular expressions'' and jokes from the future wouldn't work as well. 
Then came the subject matter. Jiang Cheng was a very cautious person, so cautious that he made sure to become an expert in Ming history in order to write [Stories About The Ming Dynasty], he wasn't willing to write about topics he didn't understand.
Finally, there was the issue of writing standard. Jiang Cheng's writing was great, and he was currently being praised as a model for everyone, so those quick cash grab novels or poorly written novels were of the table.
In this way, he narrowed down the genres he could write down to; Martial Arts, Xianxia, Magical Realism, Romance and History.
Among them, in the history category he had already written [Stories About The Ming Dynasty] so he didn't want to write another history novel. At least not until the series was completely published.
Magical Realism, he just felt was too broad plus he didn't really like the genre. 
For the Romance category there was [Autumn's Concerto] which was coming out as a TV show next year so he decided to skip it as well.
Therefore, only Martial Arts and Xianxia were left before Jiang Cheng.
Jiang Cheng loved the two themes very much. Needless to say, martial arts, who didn't dream of learning martial arts and becoming the next Bruce Lee when they were younger? Plus martial arts culture was already an integral part of Chinese culture. As for Xianxia, ​​it was actually essentially an extension of martial arts. Mythical fantasy built on the basis of martial arts.
Jiang Cheng was very optimistic about the two themes, and was slightly unwilling to give up either. However, his energy was limited. He only had little more than a month left before he had to head to school, just about enough time to write another book.

Martial arts novels weren't easy to write. Without profound planning, understanding of traditional Chinese culture, and a martial arts background, it was nigh impossible to write a good novel. A good martial arts novel often took several years to write, for example [The Legend of the Condor Heroes] was still constantly being revised by Jin Yong.
Then....should I choose Xianxia? Jiang Cheng questioned. 
In fact he already had a novel in mind, for Xianxia, the novel [Zhu Xian]. 
The novel [Zhu Xian] had a pivotal position in later generations of online literature. Once published in China, it soared to the Chinese, Hong Kong and Taiwanese bestsellers list. With it's imaginative and powerful narrative, it quickly became the pinnacle of Chinese Xianxia literature. It even became famous overseas after being translated.
Throughout the novel, love, affection, friendship and the battle between right and evil was brought together, the writing was beautiful and the story was vivid. With more than 30 million views online, it was hailed as a pioneering work in a new generation of domestic Xianxia novels comparable to the legendary [Story of Swordsman from Shushan Mountain], a masterpiece of Xianxia.
The plot of [Zhu Xian] had its ups and downs and the characters were distinct. It provided a unique take on a Eastern Xianxia world at the time, with grand and detailed world building. The love story was especially famous. One of the questions repeatedly explored in the book was 'what was good and evil in a world without benevolence, where the strong reigned'.
The love story between Zhang Xiaofan, Bi Yao and Lu Xueqi touched the fans of [Zhu Xian] and caused the creation of fandoms for each. People actively argued online over who they shipped more, and why one female lead was better than the other. 
The story had love, family and friendship and the way it dealt with each was thought-provoking and unforgettable. It wasn't simply a hack and slash novel like most cultivation stories would become like in the future. 
However, [Zhu Xian] wasn't flawless, and there were still issues. The most distressing and regretful thing for readers was how long Xiao Ding took to update and finish the book. The ending of the book also left many things unsolved and created plot holes.
But despite the few flaws, [Zhu Xian] was still a classic among Xianxia novels.
However, if Jiang Cheng were to write the book, he couldn't make the same mistakes, he would have to make up for these deficiencies.
But, Jiang Cheng was confident he could edit, fix out any plot holes and create a satisfying ending. 
But despite this, he still couldn't make up his mind to write [Zhu Xian].

My first book, 'Moon Rabbit: Threaded Fate' tells the story of a young woman who encounters a celestial being that fell from the skies (you guessed it, it's the Moon Rabbit lol) and one of the people she knows is Han Jing. He's a twenty-four year old young man who is still living with his parents and spends the majority of his time on his phone.

But why?

The 'why' part led to him spending the majority of his time with online strangers, strangers that are much more than what they seem. One of the first web novels, or manhua I've seen here in Webnovel is Cultivation Chat Group and it inspired me by a good portion. Especially when the WPC #114 - Smartphone came up. 

I only actually won 7th place there, it was a rough competition haha.

If you've read the first portion, you can definitely see that I'm having fun with the concept. Honestly, it shouldn't have even taken the Virtual Reality portion but due to popular demand, or rather a comment by one of the Readers _Kaitlin_, I adjusted and catered to the Virtual Reality portion.

And I don't regret it, it may have sidetracked from my original purpose, but it's also enjoyable on its own. I first started publishing Races: Online on May 14th, 2020 and it's actually December 14th, 2020 and it's the 7th month anniversary of the book. 

I realized that just now lol.

As of today, it's only 178 Chapters which is small in the Webnovels, I have no idea how people write a thousand chapters and you guys keep reading it—but here we are. Honestly the Minimum Guaranteed System is what encouraged me to write this too, because it's COVID and I'm a newly graduated Student who can't get a job (You: Is the Author projecting herself with the MC?!). 

In the Philippines, $200 is actually a nice amount of money that can cover my internet bill, some food and such. Nothing extravagant, and it's a reason why I do two stories for me to get $400 lol. But yeah, I'm not exactly sure who adds 'Notice Me Reader-chan' into their libraries but there we have it.

The Author Note at the end of the chapters can't satisfy my own urge to write my thoughts lol. Hopefully I'll be able to look back on this and see how far I'll go, or at least reminisce on better times. And yeah, I'm actually procrastinating from writing my own chapters by writing this ahaha. 

But yeah, Han Jing somehow happened to be an accidental MC that called for his own story so here we are, Races: Online. I've read a lot of webtoons too, more so than web novels, so you might see instances where you'd get a lot of references to other mediums. (It's not pirating -.- gah)

On the funny side though, ah, maybe I should write about actual racing cars, I got a couple readers confused by the title heh. We're even at Magical Academy Arc right now oof. You know, maybe I'll do this more often. Journaling is quite helpful for mental health.

this is a continuation of previous chapter author note, my experience as writing a fan fiction- and writing overall.

At first I honestly do not know how the hell my fanfiction will turned out to be, I just yolo it and tried to write down what's going on inside of my head into a document and published it.
it was rough at first, however, as I continued to write and write, I started to get a hang of it and somewhat improved my writing skills as it went on.
the Sword Art Online arc- Castle in the Sky, was in my opinion, my proudest piece of work- I wish I could really say for the other volumes though.

a final thoughts from one of the fanfiction authors who wrote a ridiculous amount of words within Webnovel, to those who inspired to write a fanfiction.
Just do it! but I prefer if you stocked up a large number of chapters first though, less you want to stress yourself out to my level.

but worry not, it is not the end, I'm currently working on a legit original using what left of my free time after a long day of hellish suffering on a facility one called "School", along with an editor buddy of mine(so grammars might not be an issue) whom I found online.
it won't be release for a while though.

Leonard Lu, a 21 years old Asian Male. He is a shut-in loser in life who is addicted to playing games, reading light novels, manga/manhua/ and manwha 16 hours a day, 7 days a week since he was Freshman in HighSchool. 

Everything changed one day when he was having a cup of instant noodle for lunch while going through a sketchy forum he founded on the internet which hosted by a person who names himself “God”. The forum was for discussing the topic: “What would happen if you threw a certain loser in life into a fantasy world?” 
Weirdly enough Leonard himself was the only guest that was on the forum- and he also had a habit of wanting to be the first one to reply. He promptly replies with a sentence to “GoD”:
“Many possibilities- the loser will either die because of his incompetence or thrive if he’s lucky- depends if he has one of those cliche cheats or not, an example would be a cheat system.” 
Instantly “God” himself reply to him: 
“Then what would happen if I throw you into that situation? With a cheat system of course.” 
Leonard then replies absentmindedly:
 “I will become a god who would act on all my desires.” 
“God”’s response is: 
“I wish you luck then, mortal.” 

Before he could process the meaning behind those weird last words, Leonard chokes on the instant noodle that he was eating, then dies alone, in his room.

'Ah shit. Only 2 minutes? I'll need to be quick to defeat this guy. If not, I'll just be dead meat.'
Alex said as he ran head on towards the man. He could guess that his current strength was similar to the man's. But this main reason to attack now was as this might be his only chance at defeating him.
Alex had a plan.
He rushed to the man's head one; the man did the same.
*BOOM!*
The two punched, hitting each other's fists.
Both were blown back by the force, but Alex managed to get up as soon as he fell.
"ARG!!!!!!" The man screamed in pain. It seemed like they fell on his back, which caused the dagger to sink in deeper into his back, hurting him even more.
Alex knew that this was the perfect moment, one quick attack to the man's jaw and he would be unconscious.
"Let's end this here!" Alex roared as he once again ran straight towards the man.
The controlled man couldn't move, his legs were shaking, blood drenched his body. He could do nothing but await his fate.
*Bang!*
A swift kick to the jaw.
It was clean and precise, the enhances speed and strength by the Might was just amazing.
'Is he unconscious?' Alex said as he watched the man's body slide across the ground by the force of his kick.
Alex quickly hurried to the body. He needed to take his dagger as well as check if the man was unconscious or not.

'After hearing these words, Alex felt relieved. He knew that this meant the man was unable to fight him anymore.'
Alex walked to the man's body, a small dagger had penetrated the man's back very deep. It was close to the spinal cord, which meant that some important arteries and veins were cut. If the man didn't get help soon, he would die from bleeding.
'It looks like I can't take my knife out, it's the only thing preventing him from bleeding even more.' Alex said as he looked at the dagger. But as soon as Alex saw blood, another thought came into his mind.
'Wait, the girl!' Alex quickly ran towards the girl and checked her pulse.
*BOOM!* but before he could, the doors behind him flew by sheer force. Someone had forcefully opened it.
"Alex! Are you okay?" A familiar voice entered Alex's

Alex ignore the prompt of him gaining expansion, looked towards the source of the sound. As soon as the doors opened, a woman ran inside, a gun in her hands.
"I'm fine. This person seemed to be under some influence or mind control. At first he sounded human but then he started to say things like, 'I'll kill you human!' or 'Foolish human'… He didn't speak like he was a human himself. But it doesn't matter, you can question him yourself. I didn't kill him, I just hurt him. A lot." Alex answered to Hana. He then looked towards the girl and said, "Save this girl first! Her pulse felt so weak, and she has lost a lot of blood…"
Hana shook her head, "You might have already guessed, but this was a test, just gone completely wrong… We don't know what happened so you will be questioned. I can't do anything about that. I will do the questioning myself so you don't need to be worried about harsh treatment. For now, just follow me." Hana looked towards Alex with a serious expression.
Alex nodded, but then looked towards the man, more specifically the dagger in his back. "My weapon is lodged into the man's back. I didn't remove it as it could cause more damage and might have been the fatal blow and killed him. Will I get it back?" Alex had no other weapon, plus the skill he acquired from the reapers required him to have their Dagger. He didn't want to lose it.
Hana looked towards Alex with a hint of surprise, "I'm surprised that you defeated Rhino. If you have that much power, that means you could be useful to us. So we will give you your weapon back, don't worry. But it might be examined before. I don't know. My mind is just currently filled with many, many questions. All of them are about you, Alex. This situation is very confusing." Hana said as she waited for Alex.
"Now, hurry up. The soldiers will clean up the place and keep Rhino locked up. He will then be interrogated, but you don't need to know all the details."
Hana looked outside and said in a louder voice, " It's clear. Rhino has been dealt with, no casualties. Suspicion of Reapers being involved in this. I will take Alex_01 for questioning on what happened."
Alex looked outside and was surprised to see a lot of military outside, standing ready. Hana seemed to have a lot of influence over them.
"MAAM! I disagree." Another familiar voice yelled.
"Captain, I know you well enough by now. But do remember that I am your superior as well as the head of investigation. I have all the rights to call the shots here. Last time you did the same by trying to refute my words on taking this one to the facility myself. I ignored it. But this time, I will remember your actions. Speaking of remembering things, Do you remember my powers after I awakened? Or is your refutal for another reason?" Hana replied in a stern and angry tone. She seemed to dislike how the man spoke to her.
"Uh. No ma'am! I apologise for doubting Maam's powers. This will not happen again." The man quickly apologised by bowing down. Alex was just surprised to see his actions. He was even more surprised by Hana's words. 'What is her power? I don't even know yet… To be someone who is in charge of investigations… she must some special powers…' Alex said to himself as he looked towards the woman's back.
"Go and do your jobs. Call in more medics as well. Rhino is hurt." Hana said in an annoyed tone as she walked outside. Alex quietly followed behind.
As Alex followed, he could see that the facility was under some kind of lockdown. The windows were covered, blocked by iron curtains. Letting no light enter or escape. There were helicopters in the air. Military personnel with weapons had their aim on Alex the entire time he followed Hana.
'It seems like they still don't trust me. The only reason they didn't use force on me must be because I'm with Hana.' Alex took a deep breath of relief. He couldn't imagine how the military would have taken him if Hana wasn't there, especially after he saw how the captain was still glaring at him.
'What did I do to him anyway?' Alex questioned by the captain disliked him so much. It seemed dumb that he would just glare at him like Alex was some type of criminal.
"Don't worry about him. That damn captain is only acting like that because of the past. He can't seem to let go of what happened. It's partially my fault that your getting glared at like that, but It's okay. If you were able to take down Rhino, you will be important to us. I will explain more than we travel to the questioning faculty. But once we enter there, you will be the one that will do the explaining, not me so be completely truthful, I have my ways to know lies." Hana opened the door of the car and smiled towards Alex.
It was the first time Alex saw Hana smile that way. He could help but replay the memory of her smiling in his mind. 'How can a woman be this beautiful?'
"Are you going to enter the car or just continue staring at me?" Hana said as he pointed to a seat.
Alex laughed awkwardly and quickly entered the car.
Hana just shook her head and entered the car after Alex, "Men will always be like that."
Alex just smiled and waited.
"Okay, I guess you already had a hunch that it was a test, right?" Hana asked.
"Uh, I did guess that it was a test. Everything seemed too conveniently placed. How could people not think that it was a test?" Alex said as he remembered the situation. It was all too perfect: Dark lights, a heavily injured person and a big bad guy.
Hana nodded, "It was indeed a test, a cliche one, but cliches are used for a reason. They work."
Alex agreed with Hana, cliches work.
"But if it was a test, then why do you need to question me on what happened. Weren't you all watching on video? It would be dumb to make the test but not have anyway to watch the test while it goes on, right?" Alex asked Hana.
"You are correct. We did have cameras hidden all over the room, but all of them were jammed. As soon as we found out, we tried to open the doors to find out what happened, but everything was locked. We could have come to save you as soon as we realised something was off, but it seems like you didn't need it."

It's about learning a new habit: Writing. Every. Day.
I've long been inspired by an idea I first learned about in The Artist's Way called morning pages. Morning pages are three pages of writing done every day, typically encouraged to be in "long hand", typically done in the morning, that can be about anything and everything that comes into your head. It's about getting it all out of your head, and is not supposed to be edited or censored in any way. The idea is that if you can get in the habit of writing three pages a day, that it will help clear your mind and get the ideas flowing for the rest of the day. Unlike many of the other exercises in that book, I found that this one actually worked and was really really useful.
I've used the exercise as a great way to think out loud without having to worry about half-formed ideas, random tangents, private stuff, and all the other things in our heads that we often filter out before ever voicing them or writing about them. It's a daily brain dump. Over time, I've found that it's also very helpful as a tool to get thoughts going that have become stuck, or to help get to the bottom of a rotten mood.
750 Words is the online, future-ified, fun-ified translation of this exercise. Here's how it works:
★ All online and private
In the past, looking for a spare notebook was probably easier than looking for a computer. Not anymore. I don't know if my hands even work anymore with pen and paper for any task that takes longer than signing a check or credit card receipt.
★ It's not blogging or status updating
I've tried writing my 750 words a day on Livejournal, Wordpress, PBWorks, Tumblr, and all of these other sites designed around putting content online. It hasn't worked for me. I fear that I might accidentally forget to mark daily pages as private. And it's just weird having my private brain dumps out on various sites that are designed to be more social. I don't need to title my entries, or tag them, or enable comments, or any of that other stuff. This is writing, and it's online, but it's not blogging, or Twittering, or Facebook status updating. This is between you and you.
★ 3 Pages = 750 words
I looked this up. 250 words per page is considered to be the standard accepted number of words per page. So, three standard pages are about 750 words. Of course if 750words.com hadn't been available, I would've totally found a way to prove that 249 words per page was the accepted standard. It really just comes down to the fact that this amount of writing feels about right. You can't just fart out 3 pages without running into your subconscious a little bit... 750 words takes a bit of effort, and it never fails to get me typing thin

You can also see how others are doing points-wise if you're at all competitive that way. How I see it, points can motivate early on, and eventually the joy of writing will kick in and you'll be writing without any external motivation at all.
