Àine said has she rubbed her temples and Tori was no better, her hair was a mess and her psychic abilities are getting out of control. "damn it!" Tori yelled as she slammed her hands on the table. "Maybe I can be of help ladies." Alfred said walking into the library. "I suggest that you and your friend here should go to Salem, and do your research there." That confused Tori and Àine everything about witches started there. "Dad what could possibly be there? All the answers are answered we need updated information on this witch covenant." Tori answered her father. "Wait lass your father could be on to something maybe just maybe, the witch trials could be held in Salem their homeland. Think about it witches still exist and somewhere in Salem there's a HQ so maybe just maybe." Before Àine could finish Tori answered. "There's a head witch and Agnes is just a pawn a second in command doing the hard work. We have to get Junior and Takashi they'll want to hear this." Tori said. "Father are you coming with us? We could use an extra hand." holding her hand out to her father who no doubt was going to yes. "Oh nonsense an old man like me would just get in the way but, if you insist the of I would love too join. Been a while since I been to Salem give me ten minutes to get ready." Alfred said as he moved quickly upstairs. "He seems happy for our trip to Salem." Tori said. "Yeah lass but we have to contact the fellas." Àine replied and Tori telepathically contacted her brother but then Junior and Takashi appeared. "Any good news?" Tori asked. "No but you remember Steven the guy turning animals into were beast?" Tori nodded her head. "Well he's found a way to turn humans." Tori and Àine both gasped in shock. "Don't we handled it he locked in a cage with his latest experiment, he's probably bear food now. Anyways what about you two any good news?" Junior asked lighting up a joint. "Well bad news is there could possibly be an head witch and the trials are being held in Salem. Good news is we can definitely stop the witch trials of and father is coming with us." That made Junior sit up and looked at his sister. "I hope it's not problem my dear son I mean its been a while since I worked at case, I could use a good case to work." Alfred said as he came down the stairs with his luggage only if was floating. "Father you're using telekinesis that means you're serious but also this is not a case, I already have to protect my sister from witches and save the world. I have Àine to protect also Takashi can handle himself but he's my best friend to many loved ones already." Junior explained to his father. "You're worried about my last case aren't you son? How I almost died fighting a demon well I didn't and I saved lives you worry about family, we can handle ourselves in our own ways son I'll be fine. Well all be fine and besides any covenant that wants my daughter is unacceptable." Alfred said and looked at his son who came a long way from a door step baby. "I watch you grow up from a boy to the man I see now besides I never worked a case with my children before. You're turning into the hero detective you've always wanted to be." That made his son feel like a kid again. "Detectives we have witches to kill and a trial to stop let's get going we need to be prepared, in case there figure out we're on our way to Salem I know silver can kill them but." Junior raised his left hand and used his telekinesis to levitate his joint. "We have abilities of our own now let pack up and head out." 
Hilda was sitting at a park watching her next victim as he was jogging. "Sitting here stalking your next victim I see." A female spoke to Hilda who quickly jumped up and turned to see who the lady was. "Quite rude to speak things you don't know about who are you?" Hilda asked. "My name is not important but a witch possessed by a demon now that important. Tell me Hilda what's this demon name?" Hilda didn't know the demon name it never told her so she bluffed. "None of your business now unless you want this demon to wake up and cause hell-" The unknown lady released a powerful amount of psychic pressure, causing Hilda to fall to her knees she couldn't move  and tried to use her demon powers. "I wouldn't do that if I release even one more percent of psychic pressure, it will crush you making your death horrible feeling even bit of pain as you die. As you die the demon will take over and will send it back to hell. You came across a guy named Junior and his sister Tori and I want info." 
"Just got off the phone with an old friend of mines we have some where to stay." Alfred said. "That's final alright Tori do your thing. Àine and Takashi are you ready?" They both nodded. "Salem here we come." With that they all disappeared.
Àloe awoke to find herself in a Forest confused about how she got here. "My sweet child welcome to the banshee community." Aloe turned to see an old lady 



As witch hysteria decreased in Europe, it grew in the New World, which was reeling from wars between the French and British, a smallpox epidemic and the ongoing fear of attacks from neighboring native American tribes. The tense atmosphere was ripe for finding scapegoats. Probably the best-known witch trials took place in Salem, Massachusetts in 1692.
The Salem witch trials began when 9-year-old Elizabeth Parris and 11-year-old Abigail Williams began suffering from fits, body contortions and uncontrolled screaming (today, it is believed that they were poisoned by a fungus that caused spasms and delusions). As more young women began to exhibit symptoms, mass hysteria ensued, and three women were accused of witchcraft: Sarah Good, Sarah Osborn and Tituba, an enslaved woman owned by Parris's father. Tituba confessed to being a witch and began accusing others of using black magic. On June 10, Bridget Bishop became the first accused witch to be put to death during the Salem Witch Trials when she was hanged at the Salem gallows. Ultimately, around 150 people were accused and 18 were put to death. Women weren't the only victims of the Salem Witch Trials; six men were also convicted and executed.
Massachusetts wasn't the first of the 13 colonies to obsess about witches, though. In Windsor, Connecticut in 1647, Alse Young was the first person in America executed for witchcraft. Before Connecticut's final witch trial took place in 1697, forty-six people were accused of witchcraft in that state and 11 were put to death for the crime.
In Virginia, people were less frantic about witches. In fact, in Lower Norfolk County in 1655, a law was passed making it a crime to falsely accuse someone of witchcraft. Still, witchcraft was a concern. About two-dozen witch trials (mostly of women) took place in Virginia between 1626 and 1730. None of the accused were executed.

SALEM: The road was muddy from the rain. The horse was well rested and we made steady progress. No passerbys. The air was filled with the smells of rain: mud, dead leaves and wet sunshine. The grass glistened, like morning dew.

By the afternoon it was time to think about where stay. I had no place in mind and no place to go. On this particular stretch of road, there were no travel inns. We'd have to camp tonight. But the ground was wet. The only choice was to sleep in the cart.

With a witch.

I glanced behind me.

Elina was unusually quiet. Instead of sitting in the front seat, she had chosen to lie among the corn in the back. She stared at the sky, her silver eyes reflecting the vast blue.

At first I enjoyed the silence. But then it began to bother me. Because Elina would always be saying something. To get under my skin. To bother me.

But she said nothing.

Eventually I broke the silence.

"What are you thinking about?" I asked.

"Hmmm..."

Nothing more. I looked back. Her expression was vague. Her eyes looking at nothing in particular. She didn't seem bored. But something else.

Melancholy. That is what I sensed. Or something along the lines of that. I don't pretend to understand women. Much less witches.

Although Yulia would say that is precisely why I'm not married.

...

Anyways.

I said, "Are you thinking about what Julia told you? What awaits you in Merkelborough?"

"Hmmm..."

"Or how a witch can love a witch hunter?"

"Hmmm..."

I don't think I can get her to talk. At least not about what Julia told her. The more I asked the worse it would get. Because if I showed interest, then she'd continue to use that information as a bargaining chip. For something that isn't a commodity. Trust.

Let's see if she's willing to talk about something else.

"You said witches need to find a human lover in order to...reproduce."

"Mh-hmm..."

"Which means every witch has parents."

"That's right."

"Are witches raised by a mother?"

"Yup."

"What happens to the father?"

"He tends to die. One way or another."

"Oh." Then I asked, "Where is your mother?"

Silence.

There was some shifting and rustling behind me. I looked back and saw that Elina was sitting. I couldn't quite discern what emotion she wore on her face. Her unnerving silver eyes carried no emotion, and yet in their endless depths I saw something. Magic, wisdom, a whirlwind.

She said, "I don't have a mother."

"What do you mean?"

She didn't answer. Instead she got up and sat down beside me. She nudged me with her elbow. I helped her wrap her cape around her and then pulled the hood over her head.

She said, "Someone is coming."

ELINA: What a shameful display. To think Salem saw through me. Managed to guess my thoughts. My feelings. Even for just a moment. Even if it was by accident.

Shameful.

Although I couldn't help it.

The rhythm of the cart, the smell of the rain, the splashing of mud. The last time I traveled like this was with my father. How nostalgic.

Traveling with Salem has its own advantages. Like with the person we met moments later.

A horse drawn cart was faster than walking. We caught up to a girl traveling on foot.

I glanced at Salem. This was going to be fun. Because something in his eyes changed when he saw her.

The girl's eyes were sky blue and her hair was long and blonde. Her smile as sweet as honey and her words like a timid song. She was the type of girl Salem liked. Because she's the type of girl all men liked.

Salem wasn't wise enough to be suspicious. And his usual instincts were overruled by an even more primitive instinct.

Heh-heh~

At first she looked normal to me. Perfect even. The way she tucked her hair behind her ears, the shy look in her eyes, the rhythm of her words, the lips that begged to be kissed. She was less of a person and more of a fantasy. Which was suspicious.

But my eyes couldn't see anything wrong about her. So I focused a little magic to my nose.

Hmmm…

Should I warn Salem? About the danger. But where would the fun in that be?



Emira 

I hold out my hand to Kalum, and he takes it without hesitation. 

"I told you that I would win!" I say as I pull him up, with a lot of help from him, and he wraps his arm around my shoulders. His sweet summer rain scent washes over me and I relax into him. He places a kiss on my head. 

"Well done Em. You're not as rusty as I expected." I smack his chest. 

"Rusty?" I gape at him. His eyes tell me that he knows he messed up. He opens his mouth to speak but I cut him off with a chuckle. Natsuko, Stella and Hanna join in. I stand on my toes and kiss his cheek. He visibly relaxes and I laugh harder. Alex walks over and silence falls over us. 

"Team Two wins as Emira beat Kalum." Cheers erupt from my team. The other team claps sadly. "Alright, for round two-" 

"Kids!" All heads turn to the voice that calls from the edge of the field. Luna. The serious look on her face kills our celebrations. We run to meet her. Ben runs the fastest and grabs one of his mother's hands. 

"Luna, what's wrong?" I ask. Luna looks at us each and takes a deep breath. 

"As you know, every coven in the world is led by a Fifteen and these Fifteen gather to discuss demons, laws and a thousand other things that we don't have the time to discuss." She waves her hands. "Last year, they were supposed to gather here in White Cove. But due to the demon attacks and the fact that we had to send Emira away, they never came. This angered some of them as they felt cheated out of meeting the Aether Witch, which is done when the Aether Witch comes of age." All eyes turn to me. I take Kalum's hand. I think they want to do more than just meet me. 

"Why do I feel like they want to do more than just meet Emira?" Kalum speaks my exact thoughts though I know I didn't tell him that telepathically. Luna looks at me with worried eyes. 

"Because the coven that got the most upset is the Salem Coven from Massachusetts. And they have a history of kidnapping past Aether Witches and trying to steal their magic, a process that usually ends up with the witch dead." Kalum's grip on me turns to iron. "Since this coven comes from Salem, they claim that they have the strongest claim to the Aether Witch as that was where the first Aether Witch was born. As everyone knows, Salem is full to the brim with the spirits of the deceased. Most of these spirits are deceased witches. The oldest and strongest of those witches have joined with the now living witches of Salem, making them incredibly powerful." 

"Ok, but why are you telling us this now?" Hanna steps up next to me. 

"Because they are here now." 

"WHAT?!" Everyone stares at auntLuna with our jaws touching the ground. 

"And they have demanded a meeting with the White Cove Coven Fifteen." I take a deep breath and meet Luna's gaze. 

"Then it's best we not keep them waiting." 

"Are you insane?!" Kalum spins me around to face him. "The Salem Coven is known for kidnapping and killing Aether Witches. And now you want to go meet them?! You're not going anywhere near them!" 

"I am not insane." I keep my voice level and calm. "And you are not incharge of me, Kal." 

"Maybe not, but forgive me if I don't want to lose my soulmate again after just getting you back!" Kalum exclaims. I squeeze his hand. 

I know, I say into his mind. I don't want to lose you either, but you won't lose me. I promise. 

"You can't promise that." He whispers. 

"I know, but you are forgetting that we have incredibly powerful friends and family. I won't stay hidden. But I won't go take unnecessary risks." I look at my friends, all of which have concerned looks on their faces. "You heard what Luna said. They got angry because they couldn't meet me. So let's not make the same mistake twice." My friends look at each other, then back at me. I sigh and look up at Kalum, his ocean colored eyes are full of concern. "I promise to be careful and to not go anywhere without a member of the White Cove Coven." He look at me with worried eyes. I sigh. "I, Emira Spring, Aether Witch, swear it by the power in my blood and the Goddess' Grace." He looks at me for a good three seconds then nods, accepting my vow. I nod back and look at Luna. She nods and turns around, leading the group out of the field. I start to follow but Kalum pulls me back to him. 

"I have something for you." He holds out his palm and in it lies a small golden seashell on a golden chain. I take it out of his hand and hold it up so it glistens in the sunlight. "I found it a year ago and made it into a protection charm. I was going to give it to you on your birthday but then everything happened all at once and it was too late. Now you need it." I clasped it shut behind my neck and let it hang next to my crystal necklace that contained the Book of Shadows. 

"Kal, I love it. Thank-" He crushes his lips onto mine and kisses me like I am the air he needs to breathe. Fireworks explode inside of me and I melt into him. His lips devour mine and he tips my head back to deepen our kiss. A fire burns in my lungs as they start to protest the lack of oxygen in them. Kalum pulls his head back and I suck in as much air as I can. He leans his forehead against mine. I close my eyes and listen to us panting. 

"Don't leave me, Emira. I can't bear to lose you again."
