1 PROLOGUE

The time of night was 2:30 and Junior found himself woke looking at the ceiling, as a detective he had plenty of restless nights dealing and solving crimes. His cases differs from what other detectives usually do, Junior was a paranormal detective. His usual cases involves witches, fairies, gargoyles, even evil gnomes. One case even involved mermaids and his experience was way different from what you see in the movies. His case now involves a vengeful banshee though he's never seen nor dealt with one. Junior sat up in his bed stretching and inhaling through his nose as soon as he did he smelled the familiar smell of marijuana, which means his sister Tori was in his house. "Tori?" He said to himself confused, getting out of bed Junior slowly walked to his bedroom door and looked straight down his hallway. Looking in the living room there she was sitting on a stool with a joint and paint brush. "Hey Junior you want a puff?" She asked as he walked out his room towards her. "Yeah, how did you get in here with me hearing you?" He asked taking a few puffs off the joint, he coughed and then started to cough uncontrollably. "You know I can be stealthy with my abilities and your door was unlocked, which is weird for you." Tori said getting the joint back from her brother, Junior was confused as well he never forgets to lock his door. Another smell filled the room Junior and Tori sniffed. "Did you leave a window open?" Junior asked looking at his sister who was looking at the bathroom weirdly, he thought is was the effects of the marijuana until he turned around and saw what she was looking at. Standing at the door of his bathroom was a merman, it's humanoid body was muscled out with slime, fins and scales. "What the hell is that?" Tori yelled making her brother jump and surprising the sea creature, the merman charged straight for the them. Tori instinctively raised her psychic shield the merman slammed into it only to be throw. back into the bathroom" What the hell is a merman doing in my bathroom?" Junior yelled. "Like I would know Junior, I'm high!" Tori yelled back, the merman punched his hand through the door "Tori the barrier must be down, but how? Nothing can break that barrier except-." The door gave in and was broken off the hinges the merman stepped out feeling victorious. Looking over at Tori Junior saw that she was still smoking on the joint from earlier, that gave him an idea. "Tori let's fry us a merman." Junior said using his telekinesis to take the joint out of her mouth. "Hey, I was smoking that!" Tori yelled as he took puffs off the joint too Junior coughed a few times and said. "I Need your fire to cook this guy.-" The merman snatched Junior and threw him across the room Junior slammed into a near by wall. The creature charged for Tori who used her telekinesis to stop it literally. A huge fireball came from across the room engulfing the mermans head Tori let go and watched as the merman screamed in agony. "A damn merman." Junior said catching his breath, as he stood he saw his sister puffing on another joint. "I don't know but with this barrier being down this is a hotspot for more attacks."  Tori said to her brother, he knew  what she was saying was right Junior has certain artifacts that are haunted. Some attract evil spirits even demon. "Right you are." A woman's voice said turning around the siblings saw a hooded figure standing at the entrance of the door. "Who the hell are you?" Tori asked as this woman's presence was very threatening making Tori release her psychic pressure, Junior hated when she does this her psychic pressure was very strong and nauseating especially when he's high. "I'm just an old witch looking for two psychic siblings and it seems I've found them." She said making it clear she has a grudge against them. "For years your family generation has hunted us witches and warlocks killing us in cold blood without hesitation. I have a message from the Witch Queen don't interfere with the witch trials or death will be your consequence." With that the witch body exploded into a flock of crows, they flew out of a window into the night. "Great apparently father has a some witch issues." Junior said as he stood next to Tori and she passed him the joint. "Well that depends since we are adopted so she could be referring to our real father." Tori said. "If what she says is true we need to be on our guard. That was a warning so they'll be back. We need to contact father this could be bad." Tori had said a mouthful but was right. "No we'll wait he will only want to act irrationally. This will be one of my personal cases but we'll keep father in mind." Junior said but Tori knew the real reason why. "Okay Junior." Tori said.
