"I've read so many romance-genre works, and the outgoing, lively nice guy, never ends up with the girl. I've always wondered why. This is a story about me, a serial romantic who buries myself in romance books, and my very own nice guy."

A/N This story is written in first person and dedicated to all the nice guys in movies, novels and dramas, who didn't win.

I smile and allow myself to flow in the fun. At night, all the people of the capital light lanterns and display fireworks. It's a beautiful sight. The aromas of various foods fill the air. The stars in the sky shine brighter than ever. I think of XiaoLong again. His black hair glimmering in the moonlight. It's over. They lied to me, I betrayed them. I don't want anything to do with them.
"Daughter YingYue, do you like the festival?" my mother asks.
I smile, truly, "Yes! It's amazing!"
Even the maids and servants smile. I had a good night's sleep that night in a comfy bed, not too hard, not too soft.
 The next morning, the maids greet her in a good mood.
"Hello, I'm Ji and this is Zhe and Qu. We are your maids." 
Their pleasant pure smiles warm me as they dress me and tell me about the kingdom. I reward them with some snacks after they tell me about my position. 
First stop: the Royal Library. I walk in, swiftly and accidentally bump into someone. 
"Oh, sorry…" I say automatically.
I glance up. It's an old lady.
"I- my apology, your highness, I was too careless," the old woman apologizes, kowtowing.
I stammer, not used to being addressed as 'highness', "N-no, it's fine, please get up."
She gets up and I realize she's the librarian from a tag on her shirt.
"You are the librarian?"
"Yes, how may I help your highness."
I flinch again, from being called 'highness'.
Finally, I can't take it anymore, "Please just call me YingYue, librarian. I would like some books about the history and politics of Ri Kingdom."
"A-alright…" She leads the way inside and finds some books to start.
At first there was awkwardness between us, but as time flew by, we became really close.
"So Yue and Ri Kingdoms are in close relations?" I ask warily.
"Yes, Princess," the librarian Lu responds, " It is because our kingdoms are so close and only separated by a measly river that could easily be crossed."
I frown a bit. 
"Is there something wrong, Princess?"
"No, and I told you to call me YingYue, not princess."
"That I cannot do, it is already informal for me to call you princess."
I sigh. These people… I gaze around the library and pull some interesting books off the shelf. Ooooh! A romance novel! 
"Ah, princess, that is a true story, about the past of the kingdom," Lu tells me wisely, "It might not be to your taste."
"A romance novel is a romance novel!" I squeal in delight.
Lu looks as if she wants to tell me something, but doesn't.
"I'd like to check these books out," I continue. 
Lu writes them down and smiles.
"Thank you!" I say, respectfully.
"No, it is my job," Lu responds humbly.
I skip out of the library as a cool breeze hits my face. Ah! It feels so nice out today! I walk into the royal garden and lie down on a bench. I open my book to start reading. 
Crunch! 
"Who's there?" I immediately demand instinctively.
"Calm down it's me," It was Commander Yang, "I'm assigned as your personal guard until further announcement." 

-This story is clean, no mature content, there are PDAs (but not much) though, but nothing deeper than that. :) for our young readers out there (P.S Warning: there is violence)-

Volume 1:

QiLing, now YingYue, goes on a honeymoon with her beloved. However, instead of relaxation and joy, they find eccentric secrets and ghastly ideals.

"Certain times, it's really fun to discover the inner feelings; we may get lost sometimes but we can find a way out.
Because we never know what will happen next. We live in present but our heart leaves in future."


We went inside Dal.Komm Coffee café, it's my favorite café and basically I come here when I have a fight or arguments with my mum or dad due to regular issues. I come here and write songs.

This is one of the place where I feel peace at it's level; because no one bothers me here or nags me for what I do.

We ordered coffee. Our order came in no time. And while looking at the coffee; I was staring at her too. Until she broke the ice, "Ahh...Am I not weird for not asking your name till now?"

"Basically, no. you're not weird." And I smiled at her.

"I'm always a curious bird. I'm Jeon Sihyun. Nice to meet you." And she again smiled;

"I'm Han Min. Nice to meet you too." She was still smiling genuinely at me. "So... Sihyun; let's discover each other. Discovering each other will be fun. Even though we met today, yet I wanna know you more; cause it seems fun discovering each other."

"Sure, why not. So... Min. I'm here on a break cause... honestly I'm fed up. Like... everyone in my family keeps on saying that I shouldn't waste my time on books and dancing. But all of my happiest moments are related with books; even when I write or read and when I dance or write songs. I wanted a pause so that I will discover myself and start working on what I love. So, here I am to spend some days without letting anyone know and that's the reason I need to return tomorrow only." I let her complete, I didn't wanted myself to interrupt her; she was looking a bit sad earlier while saying but when she mentioned books and dance she smiled; this shows how much she loves Dance and books.

Who doesn't like books? They are interesting and lets us escape from this cruel world.

"So, you write books? And even lyrics? You're damn talented Sihyun" I asked her.

"Nothing like that Min," she was smiling shyly. Her shy smile was cute  "I do write books and lyrics.. like; it's like I wanna comfort everyone with my songs. I want that whenever anyone listens to my song; that person will be feel comforted and will appreciate his existence. " Her purposes of writing songs made me curious about her more; and books too. 

"What kinds of songs do you write and which genre books do you like?" I asked again like a curious bunny.

"You won't laugh? even if I say my weird fantasies?" I nodded as a reply

"I love fantasy and romance basically, I write books keeping the theme as fantasy and romance like how life changes when a girl meets her soulmate. And about lyrics; I do write lyrics about love and pain. And recently, I've been writing about how a girl overcame her breakup and started relying on a boy and that boy loves her; that helps people to have the hope of love in life. While writing I never think whether people will appreciate me or hate me for my works yet I love writing cause I think maybe in life I'll get someone who will appreciate me one day" she said with a mixed feelings. Somewhere I feel both of us are going through somewhat same situations. "So, Min, what's your hobby?" she asked me with her curious looking eyes.

"I read books and play guitar and even sometimes when I feel fed up I start writing songs and with the help of my hyungs I compose songs too. But books and lyrics comes first above everything. But all of these things seems useless infront of my parents but I love doing all these things. I love music because MUSIC HEALS." I heaved a sigh. and she started sipping her drink.

"That's actually great; you know Min. But don't worry, I understand how you feel" she said while sipping her cappuccino. I looked outside and it was nearly evening and she followed my gaze and also looked outside and when I saw her she was AWE-STUCK. I bet she had fallen in love with Busan beauty. And looking at her like this I came up of an idea.

"It's nearly evening, the sun must be kissing the sea; watching the sun kissing the sea; and that kiss is always worth; and the beach side is the best during this time as well. So, Let's go Sihyun." Hearing this she hurriedly completed her drink and both of us got up. 

We went to counter to pay and I paid. I'm a regular customer her so basically the workers know me very well. They are more like my acquaintance. While paying; the guy at the counter named as 'Yohan' smiled at us and said, "Hey Min, dude you finally came here with a girl. Is she your girlfriend?" 

"Aniyo!" I protested him. I saw both of us were smiling and Sihyun looking down and blushing; her cheeks flashed a cute pink tint. Again Yohan said "But both of you do look!" 
And then he approached Sihyun "You know, Min never brought a girl with him. You're the first one and you should feel honored." and smiled. Eventually Sihyun started laughing and I felt embarrassed.

"Enough Yohan. Bye" I said and we left the café. Sihyun was walking infront of me.

"Mass is not proportional to volume.
A girl as small as violet... a girl who moves like a flower petal...
Is pulling me toward her with more force than her mass.
Just then, like Newton's apple, I rolled towards us without stopping until I fell on her with a thump.'
My heart keeps bouncing between the sky and the ground. It was my first love."

Something was going on my mind and I wanted to say it and I was about to call Sihyun and say but then I thought it would be better if I let it out. So, I did, "Sihyun, will you be my girlfriend?" and she looked back at me with a smile on her face.

"I hope I can be with you for just one day."	

It's a story of a boy and how he met a girl for the first time and wanted to spend the first and last day with her. Something was there between... them. They had somewhat similar story; they shared the same taste in books, music. Even though they met for the first time and the feelings were new to them yet they felt each other very comfortable.
After they spend their first and last day... will they meet ever again? Or their fate has decided something else?

Romance is a very popular genre in Webnovels. The first thing that come to mind when we talk about romance are the CEO novels. Even though we don't want to admit it, they are the mainstream romance stories in the Webnovel website. 

So why do people love romance stories? I hope you find the answer while reading this chapter.

Elyon knew that "Romance" is not his strong point. He writes a fantasy story with romance, but he can't tell if the romance will be able to attract female readers. Out of curiosity, he asked some of his fellow authors the question "Why do you read romance stories?"

Here are their answers…

Kyosei: Because I am single. 

Reili: To fill my empty void of a love life.

Minrei: Because romance let you feel what is to be loved, plus it is universal you dont need to learn magic or cultivation in order to read.

Bajj: Due to lack of romance irl.

Murakami: I read because I enjoy the friction and conflict between the FL and ML. The insistence vs resistance is naisu.

Qin: I reads romance only for ideas and info.

VlassisBehrakis: I don't read romance novels.

[A/N: Oof I asked the wrong person.]

Elyon then  ̶a̶m̶b̶u̶s̶h̶e̶d̶ asked some readers about their opinion about romance novels.

Yin: I read romance novels because I want that kind of drama to happen to me in real life. But I know it will never happen haha.

A Certain Irresistible Meowlin: I wonder why? And I do read romance novels. Though the chance of me dropping them is also the highest out of all the genres. Every so often I come across a scene that makes me just want to squeal and fangirl.

Elyon decided to dig deeper and asked a few of his senior "romance authors" some questions about their reason for writing romance stories.

The first question is… Why did you choose to write Romance Stories?

Anjeeriku: I'm comfortable writing romance stories compared to other genres. I'm a helpless romantic person and I like novels that can invoke other people's feelings.

Bajj: First of all, I like reading romance story. It was the reason why I read books before and reading other genres comes after. All in all, due to these romance fiction books, I got the opportunity to read more great books with different genre.

MishaK: That's what I read, so write that too.

Zehell2218: Because as reader, I want to read romance novel so when I write, I write romance since my motto is I write what I want to read.

Ikazainudin: The easiest genre. Everyone can relate.

End_of_Era: It wasn't a full on Romance, it was slice of life with romance which I feel was necessary with progression of the characters.

The second question… When you were making your ML and FL, did you imagine yourself as the lead of your story at any given point in time?

Anjeeriku: I would be a liar if I said no. There were instances that I'd put myself in my FL's shoes. Whenever that happens, my writing feels more passionate and truthful that sometimes it was hard to know where my fl starts and where I end. 

Shen Yi, LMD's ML was based on a person I've lost, The One That Got Away so it was sometimes hard not to self-insert whenever there were scenes that need to invoke feelings from readers. 

Bajj: I believe that every character the author was making and breathing life into it, a part of him/her is added to its character. But me imagining of being the ML/FL, never. I'm too pure for that. Kek

MishaK: Yes I did but sometimes. Otherwise you can't infuse emotions in your characters. It is important to understand your characters.

Zehell2218: Yes, I imagine myself as the lead. Of course, I tweak it a bit, such as in age and appearance. But mostly, the characteristics is similar to me.

Ikazainudin: FL and ML character based on what I want to be irl. Yup. I imagine that will be my love story.

End_of_Era: Yes, my leads had some ocassional self insertion.

The third question… If you were to choose some other genre aside from romance, what would you pick?

Anjeeriku: Fantasy. I always look up to those authors who can write fantasy stories/novels well. I believe writing a fantasy novel is harder than writing romance.

Bajj: Horror/thriller/Action. Read GGGB godamnit! [Good Girl Gone Bad]

MishaK: I am writing a Fantasy romance aside from regular vanilla romance *smile emoticon*

Ikazainudin: Psychological/horror and maybe children story.

End_of_Era: The new genre I'm writing is fantasy/violent .

Anjeeriku: I'm sorry for not being inconsistent with updates. Y'all know I love you, but a little consideration and patience as I face this rough patch in my life would be very much appreciated.

Ai~ there's a few more that I won't add to the list because it will create a wall of text. Well anyways, the reason why I read these stories is to get an idea on "WHY" the ladies love to read them.

Let's just say that it's a unique way to see a world in the eye of a lady (if you are a man of course). When done properly, the execution of the story can capture the hearts of anyone, even male readers. I believe that no matter what gender you are, as long as you find the story interesting then it doesn't matter whether you are a guy or a gal no?

Perhaps, when I'm not too busy to write my stories, I'll once again pick a romance novel to read. Hopefully, I will find another hidden gem that will bring unexpected surprises to anyone who are lucky enough to find them.

"Ha..." It was the nth time that I was sighing.

I had been in my room, sitting up in bed, reading a book. There was also a pile of storybooks on the table by my bedside, all read.

After the Debutante Ball, there had been absolutely nothing to do.

A lady's duty was to hold social events, such as tea parties, and build better relations with the right families. However, for a person like me, who had no friends as of this moment, I had no one to invite. No one had invited me either.

'And the situation with Beatrice's little sister probably made people less willing to want to have anything to do with me...'

I knew it was inevitable for the situation to reach every noble's ears. High society was quick to spread any 'interesting' recent events.

The words I had spoken to a 15-year-old girl might have seemed harsh. Not to mention, after my words, Clara had run off as if she were scared.

'Ah...' I glanced at the pile of books on my bedside table.

"Let me just put the books away for now." I picked them up and made my way to the Bellona household's own library.

"Should I take up a hobby?" I muttered to myself. "But what?"

'Gardening?' I shook my head. I didn't have a green thumb. If I were to try growing my own flowers, I was sure they would wither or fly somewhere with the wind. And that would only bring trouble to the gardeners my family had hired.

'Cooking?' I shook my head again. There was no way my worry-warts of a family were going to let me near a fire. Let alone into the kitchen. We had chefs as well. Me being in the kitchen would only be disruptive to their working environment.

'Don't tell me all I can do is sit still and look pretty? Don't I have any strengths?'

I sighed again. 'Ah, I'm here.' I had reached the library.

The guards stationed by the door helped me to open the door, also asking if I needed help carrying the books. I politely declined them with a smile.

"Here and done!" I said quietly, placing the last book at the correct shelf and slot. "Ha..."

"That's quite a sigh, Young Miss." I turned to face the librarian, William. He had been picked up by Father when he was a child. After finding out about his talent in literature, Father had built a library and made him the librarian. As of now, he was 25 years old.

"Sir Librarian," I said, acknowledging his presence with a nod. 

"How were the books I recommended, Young Miss?"

"They were an interesting read, thank you very much."

He grinned, showing the dimples in his cheeks. "I'm glad you liked them. It seems that Young Miss favours romance books, hmm? Any man caught your eye?"

I rolled my eyes, smiling at him playfully. "I'm only interested in them because they're something I don't understand."

"Hmm?"

"Why would people be so stupid to fall for someone who doesn't love them back?" 

All the Romance books I read had one constant factor — a second female lead whose only role was to strengthen the bond between the male and female lead.

"Why would they lose their minds over a single person who never saw them and forget all about the people who actually cared for them?"

I was also asking myself those questions. I hated that I could relate to the feelings of the fictional characters so easily.

After been given another chance, I had spent my time reflecting on my past actions.
I still didn't understand why I had fallen for Liam so easily. 
Love at first sight? Preposterous.
Perhaps it was more accurate to call it an obsession with his pretty looks than love.

"Young Miss..." William's voice had become softer and more serious. "Who you love can't really be controlled. Your heart just wants what it wants. By the time you notice it, the person has already taken up a space in your heart."

"Even if you want nothing to do with that person?"

"Humans want the things they know they can't have the most."

"..." Silence filled the library.

"I see." I smiled.

"Since we're talking about romance, we can't forget to speak about the love you have for Michelle, can we?"

He turned red at once. "That's—"

"You two would make a cute couple."

He nervously asked, "Truly?"

'Okay, changing the topic, successful.'

I nodded. "The two of you are nice people. Furthermore, the both of you have worked in our estate since you were young."

William and Michelle had been brought into the estate since they were young. Technically, they were the most experienced workers, only losing to the old butler, Ladon. Due to that, they had also grown up together, helping each other out, and as such, they were quite close.

"What's standing in the way for you to confess to her?"

"My cowardice," he said, laughing sadly. "I'm scared of rejection."

"... I see." I averted my eyes from his face, cursing. 'Why was I so stupid to talk about this?' William looked down.

"I'm sorry." I didn't know what else to do except for apologising. William chuckled. "What are you apologising for, Young Miss? You didn't say anything wrong. In fact, it makes me happy that you think I'd look good with her."

"It's the truth," I said seriously. William smiled. "And that's why, you don't have to apologise, Young Miss."

We stayed silent for a little longer. "Then, I'll get going now," I said. I didn't know what I was going to do after this but it would be bad if I were to disturb William while he was working. "Do your job well."

He grinned. "Of course." With that, I turned and left the library.

'Ah... Should I have asked for potential hobbies?' I had completely forgotten about that.

"What should I—" 

A loud sound rang my ears. Suddenly, something dropped in front of me, piercing the ground.

A sword.

'Another step and I would have been skewered.'

I was pale as I stood frozen in place. Perhaps I had even stopped breathing for a while.

"Evin!" Elder Brother came rushing towards me in worry. His shirt was soaked in sweat. He had been practising the sword, that much was obvious. "Are you okay, Evin? I'm sorry. The sword. I shouldn't have practised here."

Before I could reply, a familiar voice filled my ears.

"Hah. This is our usual practice place. She should know better than to come near here." Aiden Gaia, Elder Brother's closest friend, was there.

"She didn't know that," Elder Brother shot back. He looked anxiously at me. I gave him a small smile.

"You still look pale. Shall I accompany you back to your room?"

I shook my head. I was trembling. In fright, as well as in excitement. I had finally found out what I wanted to try doing.

"Brother. Please teach me the sword."

"S-so, Kurosawa-san, I never got to ask you before, but what's your favorite kind of literature?" Yuri looked up at me but still kept her head tilted enough so that her hair covered her face and the slight blush on her cheeks.

Yuri's shy nature is both cute and troublesome at times. I'm not gonna bite her if she makes eye contact with me, ya know?

Oh well, I'll just have to open up her shell a little~

"Hmm, let me think about it," going into a thinking position, I thought about my answer, wanting to give her a truthful one - you can't open up someone's shell without opening up your own, after all. "I'd say that I like Romance Novels and most kinds of Action/Adventure-based Stories. Though I don't mind a horror book every now and then," coming to a conclusion, I sat down on a chair and leaned into it, looking at Yuri who was sitting on a chair next to mine, "Anything that keeps my attention and is exciting, I suppose~"

Seeing my smile, Yuri turned her head away with a bashful look on her face, while her hands fidgeted with a lock of her long purple hair. 

It seems she's not used to being smiled at by a handsome person like yours truly~

Jokes aside, Yuri right now is incredibly adorable. If I didn't know she suffered from terrible natural shyness and anxiety, I'd be assured that she was shy because she had feelings for me and I'd probably end up asking her out. Alas, this is just how she is.

"W-well, that's nice. I, uhh, like horror stories mainly b-but I wouldn't mind reading some Romance..." she trailed off for a second before snapping her head toward me, "If I give you a recommendation for a Horror, can you, I don't know, maybe give me recommendation for a Romance novel?" she looked hopefully up at me, her purple eyes filled with worry and other anxious feelings.

Seeing her opening up like this, I really thanked my lucky stars that she opened up when talking about books or other hobbies of hers.

Smiling, I nodded my head, "Sure, I don't have a copy of the book, but I can give you a recommendation. It's not strictly a romance novel, but it delves into some pretty complex stuff and it's more of a short story if anything. It's called 'The Grasshopper' and it's by Anton Chekhov--" interrupting me, a small blur came and sat on my lap before wrapping her arms around my neck.

"Hiroki-senpai, you've read 'The Grasshopper' as well? That's my favorite book!*" Karla's face was right next to mine, smiling and I instantly felt the atmosphere between me and Yuri deflate as my purple-haired fellow club member turned away from us and went straight into her book with a complicated look on her face.

(*A/N - Is this a coincidence? Hell no. I just like torturing Hiroki and making Karla aggressively hit on him.)

Seeing this, I couldn't help but think that Karla was way too forward and aggressive...Like seriously, it's getting kinda annoying...

Looking down at the troublesome girl on my lap, I couldn't stop the small frown from coming onto my face. But as if she didn't see it, Karla continued to smile and her hands kept playing with the hair on the back of my head.

...She may be annoying but having her play with my hair is pretty nice...No! Stop! Do not be seduced, Hiroki!

Resolving myself, I opened my mouth to speak, "Yuri-san and I were just having a conversation; Don't you think you were rude barging in like that, Kure-san?" my voice wasn't cold or harsh but the annoyance was very clear.

This gained Yuri's attention as she looked at me from the corner of her eye, surprise filling her purple eyes at the fact that I would even bring it up and want to talk to her instead of the girl so clearly smitten with me.

But in classic Karla fashion, the girl on my lap stayed completely oblivious to my annoyance and just continued smiling. However, despite her lack of reaction to my annoyance, I knew that she knew I was annoyed, which made her obliviousness even more frustrating. But she still answered me, but not with the answer I wanted.

"Hiroki-senpai, call me Karla, otherwise I'll get mad," her smile changed into a childish pout and one of her hands came down to my chest to 'playfully' hit me.

And when I say playfully, I mean she hit me with enough strength to break an average man's ribs and sternum. Luckily as you already know, I'm incredibly sturdy. My body's more like bio-metal than normal human flesh at this point.

But it didn't mean her doing so didn't annoy me, even if only a little bit.

"I don't think we know each other enough to be on a first name basis, Kure-san," she flinched a little at the slight edge to my voice and looked a bit taken aback like no one had ever gone against her wishes.

She was the great-granddaughter of the head of the Kure Clan, so she was no doubt a spoiled little princess who everyone doted on. I'm not so nice to just continue to go along with such selfish behavior.

When she went to speak, I cut her off.

"Kure-san, I'm fine with you flirting with me - in fact, I find it incredibly flattering. But you can't just use it as a reason to be rude like this," once again it seemed like she was being purposely ignorant but she stood up and sat on a chair of her own before looking between me and Yuri.

"You're right, Hiroki-senpai, I was rude just then. But I just can't seem to help myself around you!" she giggled as she said this before she looked a bit more seriously at me, "But I'll try if that's what you want, senpai."

Her serious and determined face was quite cute and I couldn't help but pat her head, "That's all I ask...Karla-san," when she heard me call her name, she smiled but I could see the displeasure about the fact that I still added the '-san' honorific. Though overall she seemed pretty thrilled that she'd made at least some progress.

Just when I was about to continue speaking to Yuri again, a solitary knock resounded around the club room before the door to the club slid open revealing a teen boy.

He was of average height with medium-short length black hair. His most prominent features are his set of dead fish-eyes and a short strand of hair that sticks upwards, usually known as an Ahoge in anime. He was wearing the school uniform all males wear but it looked a little baggy on him.

He wasn't too attractive but that wasn't because he was necessarily ugly but mainly because his facial expressions were set in a constant scowl or a cynical smile. In fact, he would be rather good-looking if it weren't for his horrible expressions.

Seeing him, I knew exactly who he was: He was Hachiman Hikigaya, the protagonist of OreGairu (or Snafu, depending on your preference).

Smiling at the guy, I stood up before looking at the rest of the people in the club, "Well, I've got some business to do, so I'll see you guys tomorrow," looking more specifically at Yuri, I winked at her, "You'll have to give me that book suggestion tomorrow, okay, Yuri-san?"

She only nodded at what I said before blushing and burying her head back in her book. Chuckling at her reaction, I could practically feel the animosity from Hachiman. Ignoring him for now, I turned to the others and gave them a quick wave before walking over to Hachiman who was just now realizing how tall and muscular I was.

It was safe to say he wasn't too intimidated on the surface but he definitely felt like I could squash him. Not that I would. I quite liked Hachiman when I watched his Anime. I just felt that he needed a friend to help pull him through his own shitty attitude.

And I wouldn't mind being that friend, given the chance.

Laughing, I looked over at him as we walked away from the club room, "'All popular people should go and die' is what's going through your mind, right?"

He heard my laughter and let out a scoffing sound before looking back at me with his rotten grey eyes.

"Not at all. I just wish they could go and be popular somewhere else," he did nothing to hide his disdain and it caused me to laugh. He looked up at me like I was an idiot for a minute before sighing, shaking his head and looking back in front of us.

Not wanting the conversation to die out just yet, I brought up a topic both of us could speak about.

"So, did Hiratsuka-sensei force you to join this club as well?" I grinned as I saw him flinch at the mention of a teacher the two of us had.

He looked left and then right before looking up at me with a slightly evil-looking grin, "Yep, that old hag said something to get me into the club...I would've said no but..." he looked over at me and I instantly knew what he was talking about:

He was scared she'd strong-arm him into the club via punching him.

I can't blame him. If it weren't for my unique genetics, I'd probably be scared of her punches as well.

Without thinking about it, I put a hand on his shoulder and consoled him, "Don't worry, she's a brute and she did the same thing to me."

Though, she made me feel bad by pleading me to join...

Hachiman seemed genuinely surprised by the contact and had probably been under the impression that I was just like everyone else and thought he was gross or something. But I wasn't and thank god for foreknowledge from the Anime otherwise I'd probably have thought he was weird or something.

His surprise didn't last long, however, and he subtly shifted my hand off of his shoulder but he still had his grin on his face as he reveled in the fact at least one person didn't think he was weird.

I didn't want to burst his bubble but I decided to carry on talking anyway.

"Oh, and the name's Hiroki Kurosawa. Nice to meet ya, let's get along," despite us walking, I stuck a hand toward him, offering a handshake.

Yet again, Hachiman was surprised but he didn't let it ruffle him as he kept his composure and grabbed my hand, completing the handshake, "Likewise, Kurosawa-san. My name's Hachiman Hikigaya."

We kept up some light conversation while we walked. The basics; what year we were in, did the other have any hobbies - stuff like that. He even went on to ask why a big guy like me was joining the Literature Club which was unusual for Hachiman; He usually stayed out of other people's business.

"Uhh, I guess I joined it because I want to read books and discuss them with others who hold similar interests. Plus being in a sports club would be too boring," I casually replied to him and he seemed to think over my answer, analyzing it for anything he could use. Guess that's Hachiman for you, always analyzing people and finding weak points in their armor so he can hurt them if he needs to.

Not that I really minded him doing so. In fact, I admired him for it. There's nothing wrong with preparing yourself against possible enemies. Though I do think Hachiman could learn to relax a little.

And though I didn't tell him my main reason for joining the Literature Club, I have to say that what I told him isn't a lie. I do want to discuss books, poems and other forms of literature with the club members - it'd be fun.

Hachiman, finishing his analyzing of my reply, looked at me with a curious face before voicing that curiosity, "What do you mean boring? Don't you like sports or something?" his suspicion was clear and he could no doubt see my muscular body - so he knew I was physically fit and probably worked out a lot (though he didn't know that this was purely to do with genetics, his assumption was pretty sound anyway). 

After thinking for a few seconds on how to say this and not sound incredibly arrogant, I gave up and just said it how it is.

"No, I quite like sports and most physical activities," my statement only confused him further, but I carried on speaking, ignoring his confusion, "but I'd simply crush anyone I came up against. Whether it's in terms of physical ability or talent, I'd remain unbeaten. It'd be boring because I'd lack any kind of opposition. Books, as long as you find something just right, won't get boring. So, my choice is pretty obvious when you think of it like that," I finished my lengthy answer and just looked ahead, ignoring Hachiman's raised eyebrow at my arrogance.

We continue walking as I sensed Hachiman trying to figure out how to reply to my comment. At first, I could see that he wanted to call me out on my arrogance but as he looked at my body, he could tell that what I was saying wasn't completely full of arrogance.

In the end, he settled with this, "Well, at least you know your strengths. Though I think you would be surprised if you actually joined the clubs instead of just making assumptions that you'd crush everyone you came across. You're not the only talented person in the world," he didn't mean offense by what he said. It was purely what he thought from an objective point of view.

Laughing, I slapped him on the back, knocking the air out of him and making stumble forward a bit, "Ha! I guess you're right, Hikigaya-san. But don't worry, I'm not arrogant enough to think I'm unmatched in the world. Yet."

Smiling, I laughed once more before Hachiman came to a stop next to a door in front of his. I could see the grin on his face and I knew I was on my way to befriending him. Or at the very least getting him intrigued with me before finally becoming friends with him.

I was bound to be surrounded by girls, so I needed some bros and Hachiman was definitely worthy of such a title. I knew at least that he wouldn't betray me, and quite frankly that's all I need.

He slid the door open and walked in. I walked in shortly after him and saw two people waiting for us.

One of them I recognized immediately as Hiratsuka, who looked over at me with a slightly guilty look on her face.

The other one was both unfamiliar and familiar to me. What I saw was a beautiful teenage girl with waist-length black hair which is tied with two red ribbons by each shoulder and angular blue eyes. She was currently sat down on a table opposite Hiratsuka, looking down at a book.

She had a cold facial expression, yet it didn't take away from her beautiful appearance. She had a definite female figure despite having a small-ish chest, with his hips being wide and her waist being thin. She was extremely attractive.

She gave off a weird vibe as she felt both petite and fragile while giving off the impression that she was big and strong. It was quite a weird thing to look at but oddly enough it added to her beauty, making her seem like royalty or something.

When she looked up at me, her sharp and cold blue eyes cut through me and I felt my heart beat a bit quicker.

...Man, I must have something wrong with me if I'm feeling something for this ice-cold chick...!

Making a Deal with a God you apparently helped in a past life isn't something you do every day, but if given the chance, would you make a wish that was a little over the top? 

Well, no matter what you'd do, Hiroki Kurosawa got his wish granted and woke up in an apartment in Japan and within minutes, he realized his bigger wish had come true; he was in an Anime World!

(Hey, Author here, this novel isn't going to be anything too serious - it's more like a wish-fulfillment novel if anything. So, if that ain't your kind of thing, you can skip this novel~)

She received her first paycheck from Ardor and knew exactly where she wanted to spend it. Nathan took her to the bookstore where she met Kelsey for the first time. She took a cart, knowing she will be buying more than a few books.

She went straight to the Fiction shelves. She studied the covers, picked out the most interesting titles, read the synopsis and followed her gut instinct whether to put it in the cart or put it back on the shelves. She could do that for hours, while Nathan was in the Business section because that's what he was reading lately.

She saw him reading by the store window. The sunlight penetrated the glass and made his skin looked golden. He was looking down on his book, he pouted his lips. The world around him seemed to disappear, he wasn't aware of her watching him. He was like her when he reads, she thought. She could spend hours in that store, and he wouldn't be bothered waiting for her.

She turned to the Literature aisle, looked at the top shelves where all the dead poets lined up. She already owned most of the books. She tried to reach her favorite one but it was too high. A longer arm aimed for it from behind her, a scent of Nathan's cologne followed it.

"I've never read this one before," he said standing really close to her.

"That's my favorite, I left it at home ... I'm thinking to buy another one, just in case."

He laughed, "Just in case of what? But that's a good strategy though, always have a backup ... I want to read this ... I guess I've found the culprit, this was exactly where I met Kelsey the first time, she was buying books for you, wasn't she?" he looked straight into her eyes.

She shrugged with a smile, "Guilty."

"So ... if you had come with her that summer, I would've bumped into you instead of her?" he wondered.

She pursed her lips, "That's highly likely, this is a great store ... but then you wouldn't be dating the hottest girl in Gastonburry."

He looked down, lost his smile, and let out a long exhale. "Right."

"I think I'm done here," she said.

He looked at her half full cart, "Wow, that looks awesome, are you going to read them all in one night?"

She laughed, there were close to 20 books in her cart, "That's for the whole month or maybe more 'cause I need to do my report."

He grabbed the cart and took the poetry book that was going to be his new favorite, "This will be my bonus for you, let's check-out."

"What? I can't let you pay for that ... that's a lot of books," she refused.

"You deserve a bonus for all the work you put in, anyways, these books are going on my shelves, you won't be taking them back to Gastonburry, would you?" He had a point.

"I guess not."

"Great, so that's settled ... we'll have a reading fest tonight, I'll fix a nice dinner, we'll get some wine, we'll read, and then music, and then desert ... and then we can talk about it 'til sunrise ... you know, a stay at home nerdy weekend," he sounded excited.

She laughed, it sounded like a dream. It was something she would enjoy by herself, and now there's someone that enjoys it as much as she does. She remembered him saying, 'There's nothing sexier than a girl who reads.' Dido.

Home made gourmet looked so easy in Nathan's hands. She sat by the kitchen island, reading one of their new books while cooked. "Wow, I'm liking this one, it's gonna be hard to put down," a wide smile spread across her face. She was four chapters in, the story was already clutching her.

"Oh I know the kind ... I wanna read that one too, no spoilers please," he was seasoning his food, flipping his tools like a pro.

Her face was covered by the book, eyes glued to the pages. Once in awhile she made humming sounds, a chuckle or an exasperating sigh. He smiled amused, splashed some white wine to the fish, then poured some for himself and some for Julie. "It's that good, huh?" he offered a toast. She quickly finished the last line, clinked her glass with Nathan's, then marked the book and closed it.

"It's really good," she gulped her wine.

Their eyes met. He wanted to tell her how much he loves looking at her getting lost in a story, but his face said it all.

"If you like suspense thrillers ..." she tapped on the book, "This is the best I've read in years ... but I have to finish it to conclude the entirety of it, and then I'll tell you all about it."

He laughed, "I'm gonna read that right after you finish, do not attempt to spoil that for me ... I'm gonna read some romance after this, you know, to infuse a little romantic spirit into the tragic stricken love life of mine."

"Oh, come on, long distance relationships are not tragic, although, it is kind of sad to spend Friday night with a book nerd at home," she giggled.

"Trust me, it's tragic, and this is not even close to sad ... I actually prefer this than a noisy night life, and it's better with company."

They clinked glasses to that.

They started eating while discussing about books they've read, their favorite authors, movie adaptations, and everything else other than their tragic love life. After dinner, they sat in the living room area with their book of choice, and spend comfortable silence together. Commenting on what they were reading once in awhile, and went back to it right after.

He really did read a romance novel. He read only selected few, he said. But nonetheless, he was reading it. Julie never came across a guy who reads as much as she does, a romance novel especially.

Two hours into their reading session, his phone rang.

"Hey," he picked up.

She could tell from his tone, it was Kelsey.

"What?" he sounded surprised. He stood up from his reading position, and walked to the front door.

"Surprise!!" Kelsey's voice can be heard from the living room.

"Oh my God! Hi!" Nathan replied.

The silence that followed can only be assumed that they were kissing. She would've jumped to welcome her but she didn't want to interrupt their kiss.

When she finally stormed into the living room, they hugged and screamed. "I miss you so much! I thought I'd crash into your island weekend here and get a taste of that New Year's party I missed," Kelsey said with twinkles in her eyes. She looked around and saw all the books and wine bottles, "Wow ... you two are really going all the way tonight, aren't you?" she laughed.

Julie glanced at Nathan who was standing idle by the dining table, unsure of what he needed to do.

"You want some wine, Kells?"

"Oh, yeah, I could use a pre-drink, come on let's get dressed and go to that rock n' roll bar you told me about," she took the glass from Nathan's hand.

"Now?" he asked.

"Sure ... why not? I did came all this way for the weekend, Gastonburry was a bit dull ... so I thought I pay a visit to my hot boyfriend and let him take me out on an island night life," she came over to Nathan and kissed him.

"Yeah ... I think you should catch up and check out The Rockabillies ... or other bars you might like, I'm just gonna stay home and read tonight," Julie said. Nathan gave her a sharp disagreeing look.

"Yeah, babe, let's get out and have some fun, a little dancing, some island cocktails, and then we come back and catch up some more," she bit her lower lip and ran her hand under his shirt. She caught his lips and engulfed them in her kiss, Julie looked away.

"Julie, you sure you don't want to come?" he tried.

"No, you guys go ahead and have fun ... I'm just gonna finish this one and drink all your wine," she lifted her book with a grin.

"Oh don't mind her, she won't put down her book even if it's the end of the world," Kelsey pressed herself against Nathan, he couldn't possibly say 'no' to her after she took an eight hour flight just to spend the weekend with him.

"Okay ... let me change first," he took her hands out of his shirt and went to his room.

"Did Preston told you I was coming?" Kelsey threw herself by her side.

"No, I was as surprised as Nathan was."

"Good, I told him not to tell you, he said if he called you he would definitely slip up, so he wants you to call him after I get here."

"He's not out clubbing on a Friday night?"

"Nope, he's waiting for your call ... he's been brooding lately, its annoying, he's not much fun without you."

Nathan came out of his room in a long sleeve shirt pulled to the elbow. He wore his favorite washed out jeans and smelled like a Friday night. His eyes fell to Julie's, hoping she would change her mind or begged him not to go.

"Great! Let's go!" Kelsey jumped to her feet.

11 PM Friday night was her best time. Nathan looked down, there was no chance he was getting out of this one.

"Have fun guys! I won't wait up!" Julie waived at them.

"Thanks babe, we'll catch up tomorrow, 'kay?" Kelsey kissed her cheek.

Nathan didn't even say his goodbye, just a simple waive and a disappointed look on his face.

"Don't forget to call Preston," Kelsey added as she slipped her arm around Nathan's.

Julie caught a look from Nathan's eyes. "I won't," she said.

They stepped out and Nathan slammed the door just a little too hard.

"Lucas, be on your guard I got a report that the prince were seen at downtown yesterday."

"Relax Elea, I'm sure everything will be fine. besides, if anything were to happen I know you can handle it." Shrugging off the warning, Lucas walk out of the waiting lobby towards the arena.

"I wish that would really be the case Lucas, I really do." He muttered to himself before leaving the other way.

The moment Lucas enter the arena the crowd went wild, and even wilder as his opponent entered. when they stand 30 meters apart, the referee calm the audience then spoke.

"Ladies and gentlemen, this would be the last battle for this tournament, I hope all of you are able to enjoy yourself these last few days. As for you, honorable champions, you all have done well to reach this far. Now, once more you will show us your courage, your strength! Let the match begin!"

"Vanessa how could you left Martin for that jerk Alvin! Didn't you said you would love him till death!"

"What?! The reason Vanessa was so in love with Martin is because of a charm spell and Alvin is actually the one betrayed?!"

"Sigh... This book is just as trashy as the others but at least it distract me a bit, well let's go back to magic practice."

If you are wondering about what happened, don't give it too much thought, there is just so much one can do in a dungeon.

Most of the books I've found was a trashy romance novel or yet another trashy romance novel, I think it was around two thirds of it? The rest of the books is either magic tomes, skill books, alchemy comporium, blacksmithing books, plant catalogue, mineral catalogue enchantments books, recipes books, history books, bestiary, etc.

There are some books to learn languages and market pricing catalogues and there are also some magic scrolls laying around, but the boon of all these is some research papers about the space element and time element.

The ideas are rough and mostly guesses but hey it's better than nothing. according to the papers, time is a force that free, formless but is etched into every matter and element, it is infinite yet finite, it is what affect every change and transformation of all matter be it solid to liquid or liquid to gas or gas to solid or any other way around. but time by itself cannot achieve this by itself and that's where space comes in.

Space, is both exist and non-exist, space is mass and mass create matter. Space contains time and time contains space, with the stimulation from time space may contract, tear, fold, or merge but time without mass would freeze then seize to exist.

Personally I think it's inaccurate but again it is better than nothing, these papers also state some spells for both time and space but I am still unable to use them.

The papers mentioned some untitled biography of some unnamed authors with an experience of being "out of time". According to them after failing their time or space related experiment the people around them started to forget them, things that written with mentions of their names disappeared, and after awhile they themselves started to fade into nothing. The experience is depicted as some energy seem to slowly corrode their body and breaking it apart but they could feel yet at the same time not feel the part that has fade away.

The papers speculate that these "out of time" phenomenon is caused by the failure of those experiments disrupted the stability and connection of time and space within them, allowing another element to invade their body.

What this element is are still not know and even it's existence is debatable for the lack of evidence and facts to proof it.

Leaving that aside during the last.. few days maybe, I have made a lot of progress in magic and learned a few spells in the six elements especially the dark element.

[shadow hands]!

Casting the newest spell, around six black tentacles made of shadow rises from my shadow. There are just no effort used for the dark element, it is almost like they are part of me unlike the others.

Dispelling the tentacles, I sat on the only chair in the room and stare at the crystal pod, my curiosity has been nagging me to open it but I felt like I should prepare first and so my magic training.

Never checking skills sure make you surprised once you check the progress eh. The weapon masteries are probably from using the weapons until they broke, the hiding and thin presence are probably from my hiding days and from stalking prey now days.

Well all these are nice but spending time reading and cursing those novels are probably the most helpful, I don't hear voices in my head, I don't have urges to kill, and I'm civil enough to not laugh like a maniac when killing.

"Damnit!" Cursing, Lucas block his opponent quick jabs, his weapon broken long ago.

The hit disoriented Lucas focus and he took two step back before his opponent sweep his feet, grab then fold his hand behind him as they pun him down.

"Surrender." He commanded with a somewhat forced deep voice.

"Never!" Lucas bark as he struggles under his opponent.

"Alright then."

"Aaaaaaahh!" With a loud snap he howled in pain, his arm numb. He then felt pain behind his head and everything went dark.

And his soul is not his own.

The characters will be based on Arabic names and Muslim background with a western hint as I am a Muslim girl bought up in a western country so I would honestly write based on what I am most familiar with and nothing is going to be accurate. it is purely based on my imagination on a newly found continent. 8th Continents... (Dramatic effects don don don) XD Also I am not Arabian, just Muslim but I really like Arabic names so it's going to be long, cause Arabic names are long. And anyone with arabian backgroud feel offended by unintentional words. I apologize.

I am a college student doing my first year. I am going to be v busy so please don't be mad about 5 chapters a month. Since I have to write, edit, make it sense and do college work and get good grades so I can go to a good uni. you guys get the catch.
