Chapter 167 - I Want Some Pan Fried Tapioca Cakes Too

"Dear, how to make tapioca flour? I want Jennings to make some pan-fried cakes and steamed multicoloured cakes too. They sound so delicious and only Jennings' daughters had tried them before... I want to try them also..."

Heather was sitting there beside me while I was looking at the spiral waterwheel drawn by one of the Shadow members according to scale, the diameters of those brass pipes as well as the number of revolutions till it reaches the end of the spiral in the centre.

I had called for Eagle to get some help when Heather was flitting around and getting information to feed inside her Gracehaven's Mighty Cookbook And Baking Recipe Book.

"I think you need to crush and pulp the tapioca to extract the starch in liquid form I think. Ask old Kayla dear, I'm not sure how they make it into flour or maybe diced and dried and then run them in a millstone or something?" 

Actually, I was clueless on how they make such flour because all I know how to get flour is to run it through the grain huller and then mill it using the millstones. 

I patted Heather's head and she once again flitted to old Kayla like a butterfly. I turned to Eagle and the young Shadow member and watched how meticulous he drew it on a piece of paper without making a single mistake. 

He even had all the dimensions drawn out properly and this was just for the spiral brass pipes. He dare not make a mistake because this technical drawing would be sent to the delivery guys to pass it to Marcel to order from the Engineering Guild in Corral. 

Only they have the materials and the technology to heat and bend the 1-inch brass pipes to turn it into a spiral. Old Jack was already busy smelting to make the fork, the hub and spindle as well as the 8 spokes for the waterwheel.

He had gotten the specifics drawn and prepared by one of the Shadow engineers when they took the design away to make an intricate but easy to understand technical drawing with its detailed specifications. 

Ben and Frank were busy designing the 'A' frame, the bamboo skids and the floatation devices while having mugs of beer in between.

They too had the specifications for the 'A' frame, the height and distance for the two spiral wheels that would work in tandem. The most important part is that the floatation design would float and not take in water and then sink sideways at all...! 

Two men worked at the 'A' frame floatation device and when it was ready and waiting for the hide glue to set itself, they checked once again to ensure that the ends of the fork should be properly aligned and it would be 7½ feet high or above and not under. 

I felt very prideful for those 3 pioneers, from 3 different families and had merged to meet one another in the forest when they ran off towards safety until they met and nearly clobbered me to death. 

Hahaha. God...! Those memories remained etched in me as I remembered how I wore my cloak backside front and had the hood hanging over the front so I could store those berries I picked, to eat and run at the same time. 

Thinking back, a simple encampment had now turned into a village and it was just over 4 months ago. A lot had happened and there were significant changes and everyone still kept at their work, role and responsibilities as well. 

These men ought to receive a medal for their dedication and contribution. Pioneers... How would we able to survive without them...!

"Old Kayla, help me, please. How do you make tapioca flour? We have tapioca right, growing in our vegetable garden? How do we make tapioca flour from real tapioca? Do we need to mill them like what Mars told me just now?" 

Heather was exasperated as she asked so many questions at one time. Old Kayla was surprised and she asked about the deal with tapioca flours as the flour would be used to make puddings. 

"Yes! Yes! Puddings and cakes! Jennings said she could make pudding and I want to see how she makes the rainbow-coloured layered steamed pudding cake. Hehe. It sure sounds delicious...!" Heather replied happily and from far, I could see her jumping excitedly like a small girl but her front was like a big girl and if she keeps jumping, that white bouncy mass in front of her would soon pop out from the drawstring of her dress...! 

"Alright, my dear. Please calm down. You are making the men choke on their beer with your jumping and squirming about...!" 

"Alright, once this tapioca had been harvested, the outer bark and second skin would be removed. Then it would be washed 3 times until the water became clear to clear its toxicity."

"Then it would be pounded until it became a mass and squeezed using a 'sock'. Once the liquid had been squeezed out, it would be left in a flat tray to be dried out. Thus what's left would be tapioca powder." 

Old Kayla explained while Heather was listening and forgetting to record it in her recipe book. After realising her mistake, she profusely apologises and asked old Kayla to repeat.

"Then what can we do with the pulp? Do we throw it away or use it as feed for the animals?" 

"Haha... The pulp could be mixed with steam corn kernels, mixed with a bit of sugar and patted down and pan-fried...! That's what Jennings was telling you about."

"Add some colouring and taste by boiling screw pine leaves to get the extract and colouring and add them together. Add a sprinkle of salt to taste and there you have it...! Pan-fried tapioca cake...!" 

"Owh...! So it's like that then. The extract becomes flour but since we need the extract to make the rainbow-coloured steam pudding, then we don't need to dry them at all, right old Kayla?"

"The extract could be mixed with screw pine extract, add some sugar and we have the first base colour for the pudding and it's green? Then how to get white extract?" Heather was seen scratching her hair like she got a terrible itch and badly needed a hair wash...!

"Add more leaves and more water and more sugar... Hahaha. Its the base extract and water so basically what you need is maybe like 25 pounds of tapioca to make a pudding for like 6 to 10 people."

"Might as well you dry the liquid to turn it into powder and store them. The patty pan-fried cake is good enough to share with at least 10 to 12 people depending on how many servings they take. Hahaha."

Old Kayla laughed at how Heather looked now with her scraggly hair after she had scratched on it like a half-crazed woman. "Ask my husband to make a grater, he knows what it is. It's used to grate cheese and other stuff." 

Heather flew to old Jack's store and asked if he was free. He was basically pouring from his head down his back and chest from the heat of the blacksmith furnace.

"Old Jack, I asked old Kayla just now about tapioca and she said you could make a grater for us. What is that and how does it look like?" 

"Ah... Does my dear child want to know about a grater? Well, a grater has two uses. One is used for grating tapioca as what she said earlier and the other grater would have a bladed surface that could be used to slice potatoes, onions, tomatoes and all that kind of vegetables."

"The tapioca grater she mentioned is made of tin and it had all those sharp surfaces with tiny holes in them. So once you rub the hard tapioca, it became a kind of pulp."

"The other one would look like it had a slanted cut off in the tin and when you run a potato on it, it could easily be sliced. Normally, the blade is so thin and close to the surface that you could make chips out of it...!" 

"Did my wife mentioned about the pan-fried tapioca cakes? It's been so long since I've eaten that. Hahaha. Really loved the time when she just loved baking and tinkering in the kitchen. Just the two of us, you know." 

"Owh... So you also knew about the tapioca pan-fried cakes too... Waahh...! I want to try that too. I'm writing the recipe book, old Jack and I just discovered from Jennings first and now I realised 3 people also knew about the tapioca pan-fried cakes too."

"Guess I have to wait for you to make the baking tins from those tin ores then." Heather looked a bit dejected because she can't have those cakes before the grater was even been made from old Jack's store. 

"So Jennings also wanted me to make the baking tins as well, eh? Well, not bad. At least I've got work to do once the tin ores come in. Alloy paddles, iron waterwheel parts and so on."

"Heh... I'd be downright busy once the time comes. Don't worry, I would put up those baking tins Jennings wanted me to make. How many baking tins did she mention to you?" 

"I think she was mentioning about 320 of such tins because 1 layer could fit 16. This would be her next project to promote the types of bread to other towns." 

"320 baking tins? That many? What are the sizes then?" old Jack eyes were wide open and his mouth made a perfect 'O'. 

"8 inches all around and 3 inches high. The baking tins would be like paper-thin. So you think of tin and iron mix together would also make a new metal?" 

"Of course not, tin and lead could make something of different metals together. However, the tin and iron combo would be able to produce an alloy that might not rust that easily. It would be pliable but not as soft as copper. It would be able to make a good baking tin, graters, slicers and paddles too."

"Old Jack... I'm going to return first. I'm not good at chemistry and I don't know what is metal and what is alloy and surely I have never seen tin before in my life." 

"So long old Jack. I talk to you once I clear this muddlehead of mine." Heather swaggered back to her seat next to me and she looked a bit lost. When I asked her and she replied the reasons, Eagle interrupted and said she should have concentrated more in her class back then. 

"Well, it's always back to the drawing board then." I declared as its a good way to keep continuing education even after we had completed our studies.

It was a beautiful new morning , the village was rising up cheerfully , greeting every single one of each other as the happy villagers come to what they do most of the time on the village. Do what they do. 

But one person stood out the most on the village.. the town was well known Because of that person being in the town in the first place. A girl....

A girl named Belle. A lot of people called her beauty , why? Her beauty was almost as stronger and powerful as all other girls were , so many girls was jealous of her looks even if she looked only just like a simple girl , and of how she was the most attention on the village. Greeting everyone on the town was the first thing she'd on the early morning. They told that she was very kind and generous, and almost as if the Nature spoken to her while the breeze used to pass through her leaving. 
But one man was even desperate to make her to be his , to be his lover , his wife...

To only be his and his only.

Gaston. Gaston was desperate to make Belle his. He always does tried to make Belle notice how much of a 'good' husband he would make for her , but she would always decline , and he didn't understand why.
A lot of girls liked him , so why must Belle have to be so persistent on ignoring him? But that didn't stop his feelings for her going away , he was just so Desperate to make Her.. His one true love. 

He couldn't wait for the moment for Belle to fall in love with him, he wanted to make Belle instantly like her , in a way showing how she can be a great husband to her. She always seems to know about what Gaston is gonna do next , or say. So he has to become unpredictable. 
But how exactly? Well...

Gaston started to reflect himself for what others see him as. He knew they see him as great , powerful and very handsome charming man , but for Belle... He didn't know. He walked back in forth in his room , thinking of ideas on what to do to make Belle fall in love with him at once , and noticed something about him. About his actions lately. 
He seemed prideful as people whispered into each other , he did notice a couple of people saying to each other that Gaston was a selfish man , but that wasn't true , was It? 
He has been great and all that but he started to overthink as he usually does to make a plan... To make a real plan that would work out. Unlike all his others plan of impressing Belle , it only impressed girls that wanted him , but he didn't want them. He wanted Belle to notice him , how strong , how powerful , how rich he seem and was. 

He was greater than all the other men In the town so why can't she notice him as the way the other girls notice him? Why can't she see how much hard work he's been doing to make her fall in love with him? 
He had been through a lot of trouble by the cause of impressing and making Belle fall in love with him. But that doesn't really seem enough , for him. It's already enough to prove a woman that a man truly loves the lady , the way he passes any danger just to get to them and prove to them they are loyal enough to be worthy to be their husband.
But for Belle... She thinks it doesn't really matter if the man who loves her Is rich or poor or just both , all that matters to her that she has someone who'll truly love her , not by her beauty , but by her passion and love. 

Gaston never really seemed to get the idea though. But he will now..



Or Will He?

Waking up at 4.oo pm, feeling confused trying to figure out where I was, then as memory rushes back bringing me back in full alertness that I was at Doc resident. Aware that I no longer had the headache, rising up I took out the bunch of keys from my luggage and went outside. 
Picking up the traveling case from the floor, resting it on the table trying all the keys. All opens except the combination lock, taking a knife, trying to prize open the lock but everything I did was useless. Seeing nothing was doing, quietly I turn feeling such despondency as the tears flow. "Why are you not answering my prayer? I know you are hearing me, help me to understand what is happening Lord! Suppose I have a family who needs me, who depending on me, how would they know that I am hurt?" 
Hearing how broken she was and the way she was crying I return to my room, thinking 'what can I do to help resolve her problem. After a while I heard movement out in the hallway. 
Maybe if we go for a walk she might like that and from looking how she dress she have good taste. The big white house might draw her attention away from her problems. Walking out his room being energetic, she was in the kitchen drinking a cup of tea. In the dining table I notice her traveling case, knife, screwdriver even a hammer. "Was she trying to open it? Is that the reason she was crying?" 
Sitting opposite to her at the kitchen table, "how's the head feeling now?" 
"Much better," she responded but her head remain bended. 
"I was wondering how about we make something light to eat then we can take a walk down the street?" Getting no response. Stooping before her, "I don't have the answers to your problems but I know you have to trust Him, He will take care of your family, things will work out He has taken care of you so far." 
Unable to hold back I turns towards him, wrapping my arms around his neck, "I need them." 
Unable to say anything to comfort her, I just hold her in my arms, feeling the tears soaking my jersey but said nothing. 
When her crying subsided I asks softly, "do you want another cup of tea?" when her head shake indicating no, "then let us go for a walk." 
She looks so vulnerable not expecting her to say yes, but then she stood up and said "just give me a minute to change." 
"You a looking good, there's no need to change." 
"Sorry, I cannot leave the apartment looking like this." 
Thinking nothing is wrong with the way she was dress, but then she have her own principles. Hearing the sound of something being slammed down, I looked up wondering what the noise could be. Only to realized that her traveling case is no longer on the table. Few minutes later she came wearing a track pants a sweat shirt and her sneakers. 
Taking two bananas and two apples, giving me one each as she said "let's go." While walking we eat the fruits. 
Then I notice she pull the hoody over her head and touch me as we started jogging. I knew she was hurting for her family, there was desperation written all over her face. If I could ease her frustration slightly I have to try. I wanted more time to get better aquatinted with her, but seeing her anguish and how thorn apart she looks. I know I will have to put aside my desires and help her get home. 
Almost reaching the enormous white house, observing she slowed down a bit then halted. She was looking around her as if the place was familiar. I wonder if she remembers something. "My Lady, have you remember something?" 
Not answering, she cross the road, seeing a bench she sat down but her eyes keep scoping around. The house has drawn her full attention. I knew she had excellent taste. Her face started to glow and there was a smile, noticing how she inhales some deep breath, as the words came out softly "the presence of God is in this place. I sense a peace as though I am home. Thank you Doc I feel much better, I must be all worked up, having no identity plus the stupid case won't open but as you say I need to trust Him. He must have a plan." Placing my hand in his we walk back to the apartment. Going to my room I took out a CD and slip it into his stereo system. The music causes me to come alive. In the kitchen as she prepared the meal, from one dish to the other dish, having heard the song played so many times she sang along.

Nathaniel listened to how she sings, her voice sound so sweet just like the CD. Thinking she must be almost finish. The aroma seeps through his door causing his mouth to water. Unable to concentrate anymore. I shut down the computer. 'All those dishes make me think of when Mom visit," deciding to use the dining table, it is only use when Mom is here. Removing her purse from the table placing it on the space saver next to the stereo system, removing the knife and screwdriver she had on the table. Getting a rag, I wipes down the table then set the table with plate's fork and spoons and glasses. Putting the dishes she already prepared on the table. In the kitchen I ask, "My Lady what do you need help with?" 
"Can you empty the rice and we need to make a fresh salad" 
Emptying the rice in a dish, I searches through the refrigerator, finding cucumber, cabbage, carrot and tomatoes. "I have these but they are not too fresh."                                    
"That's all right it will do until tomorrow." Helping shred the cabbage and carrot, she gives me the cucumber and tomatoes too slice up while she slice an apple and quarter some grapes. Seeing he was finish with the cucumbers and tomatoes, I give him the others too toss in. Asking him to open the tin of baked bean as I chip the seasoning finely. Nath notice how briskly she work but her face looks very pale, she was constantly wiping her face.                 
As soon as she throws in the bean and seasoning she said, "Give this a few minutes and take the stove off." Seeing the way she was holding her head as she walk to her room.                    
Fifteen minutes pass since she went to her room. Thinking 'what could be keeping her, I have already cleaning the cupboard and all the utensils she use for cooking.' Being concern I walk towards her room. "My Lady," knocking then I opens the door. Seeing the way how she was leaning over a bucket holding her head. "Has the headache return?" When she nodded "let me get you a pain tablet?"                                                  
"Doc do you have a pressure machine?"     
"Yes!" Standing up I get her some water to rinse her mouth then went for the pressure tester. On my way to her room the doorbell ringing. "Goodness who on earth can that be? I don't really have visitors." Unlocking the door, "Mark, Gail please come in, Mark do you have your medicine bag with you?"                                              
 "Yes"                                                    
 "She is not too well."                                             
Gail looking at the both of us as Mark went for his bag. "We were in the neighborhood and decided to drop in, so what is going on? Is there something I should know about?"                 Holding her hand I led the way, standing at the door way. Gail stares at the woman lying on the bed with a wet cloth over her forehead       
 "Doc I need something to soak my head this pain is excruciating and overbearing."                                        
Gail whispered, "Who is she?"                                    


“Excuse me.” 
“Can I help you with something sir?” 
Turning in a rage, “will you give the young lady that get wet, this money for me please?” 
“I am sorry Sir, but I cannot do that.” 
“Then kindly check and see if she has fainted or something, the length of time women takes to change.” 
“Sir, you don’t understand, the young lady left almost ten minutes ago.” 
“Was she badly hurt?” 

He tried to relax realizing, 'Jezell was right, the young lady makes me feel on edge, but why? Seeing her in the mall for the first time, when she collided into us, it was not planned it was an accident, she seemed to be in a hurry to get somewhere, but why were she smiling even when Jezell was rude by showing her the third finger. No one has ever gotten under my skin like that before and it irritates the hell out of me, then her running in front the car, I know it was not on purpose. I could see she was in pain but why didn’t she say something, someone else might have shouted at me because I was wrong, and why was I so ignorant, I didn’t even know it was her.’

After receiving Tian Xu's message, the sect's pharmacologists gathered at the Invincible peak. 
The youngest pharmacologist of the Magnificent Flame sect was a middle-aged man, while the rest were all elderly men with snow-white hair. They were all looking around confusedly. 
"Why did Elder Tian Xu gather us at the Invincible peak?" 
"I have no idea; I was still doing research when I was called. I have to rush back after." 
"I was making a cauldron of mystic-low class pills that were almost ready. But due to the interruption, the pills are now a more inferior class, such a waste." 
"So what? The earth-low class pills that I was making were about to succeed, but I failed due to me being surprised by elder Tian Xu." 
"Haish….." 
"Are all of you here?" Tian Xu said, walking out. All the pharmacologists here were the pillars of the sect. If not for their hard work, the Magnificent Flame Sect wouldn't have the pills they needed to cultivate. 
"Greetings, Elder Tian Xu."
'Mmm." Tian Xu nodded. A frog could then be seen jumping from behind him onto his shoulders. 
"Are these the greenies I'm teaching?" The frog said arrogantly. 
But as soon as the group heard its words, they started scolding it. 
"Damn it. What on earth even are you? How dare you humiliate us?" 
"I know, right. We painstakingly refine pills for the sect. How dare an animal say that we are greenies? We can make even earth-class pills!" 
"Greenies? Haha. What a joke. I've spent the past twenty years making pills, and the success rate of my human-class pills is 50%. Which of you here is better than me?" 
Tian Xu remained silent. He left all this to the frog. 
All the pharmacologists here had significantly contributed to the sect, and Tian Xu was very thankful for their selflessness. They even gave up their sleep to make pills at times. 
All just to help the sect's disciples improve their cultivation. 
"All of you, shut up!" Hearing their words, the frog nearly burst into laughter.
"50% success rate for human-class pills? I've never seen such failures like you all! You're even worse than greenies." 
The frog sneered. 
An elderly man with white hair glared at the frog angrily. "This damn frog, watch your mouth! Do you know how experienced a person must be to get a 50% success rate? What do you mean by worse than a greenie? Are you able to make pills at all?" 
"I don't." The frog shook its head. "Because I don't bother to make human or mystic class pills. Those are for the weak." 
Unhappy shouts rang across the peak immediately. 
"Arrogant!" 
"Presumptuous!" 
"Did elder Tian Xu call us here to get humiliated?" 
"I'm going to cook it." 
Tian Xu watched expressionlessly. He didn't feel that the frog was too much, as he knew that lady luck was shining on the pharmacologists to learn from it. 
Theoretically, it was impossible to make heaven-class pills when one didn't understand laws. 
Pill-refining was a technique that required a lot of practice. Understanding theory wasn't enough. 
"Shut up, all of you!" The frog shouted angrily. ~Indeed, all of them are murderers! I've been living for tens of thousands of years. I'm basically your ancestor! Disrespectful murderers!~
The crowd fell silent immediately. 
The frog opened its mouth, revealing the Alchemical Cauldron of Wood and Fire. Suddenly, a strong medicinal smell was emitted from the cauldron. 
The pharmacologists' expression changed. 
"Such a strong smell. This cauldron is unlike any other cauldron I've seen." 
"Yes, This cauldron has been used to make many pills. It should be considered a treasure. But what is that frog trying to do? Is he trying to make a pill in front of us? Somebody like him…." 
But before they could finish their words, a shocking scene took place. 
The frog threw a few ordinary herbs into the cauldron and melted it. 
"Hmm, greenies. Let me show you how powerful I am." 
Frog opened its mouth and spit out flames that turned into a dragon. It flew several rounds above the cauldron before breathing fire, turning the cauldron red-hot. 
The frog then used a few simple techniques, and within no time, the place was filled with the scent of pills. 
"This..." 
The crowd's eyes widened in shock. They weren't able to believe what they had just seen. 
"What technique did this frog use? Why haven't I seen it before." 
"How could it be so fast. That's way too fast!" 
The frog opened the cauldron, and a pill floated out. 
"This is a Human-class pill. Look how easy it is. And the success rate is 100%," The frog said nonchalantly. It opened its mouth, and a few herbs flew out of its mouth. 
The pharmacologists were flabbergasted. 
"Is it going to make more pills? Without cleaning the cauldron? Won't it result in impurities? One must have firm control over the refining to succeed!" 
"No, it must have made use of some technique; this is impossible otherwise." 
Just as they were pondering, the frog opened the cauldron again, and a few pills floated out. 
"It's so easy to make mystic-high class pills." 
The sect's pharmacologists were all dumbfounded. It was as if they had seen a ghost. 
They were always extremely cautious when making pills, as they were worried about making mistakes. But now, it seemed that the frog was making pills as it wanted. 
"This...." 
Suddenly, a strong medicinal smell diffused out. Every sniff one took made them feel energetic. 
"How strong this smell is! Is that a...." 
They dared not guess what was inside. ~We feel energetic just by sniffing. This is only an effect that earth-class pills can create. ~
~How could this be? How skilled must he be? How far away are we from him! It's impossible to catch up with him!~
"Open!" 
The frog said. With his ability, he could make earth-class pills perfectly. But it was a bit too hard for him to make heaven class pills.
When it made use of the secret technique previously, something did go wrong. Laws might really be something that he can't overcome.

"Who is he?"

Tian Xu watched this scene unfold. He looked calm, but he was greatly shocked as well. He was filled with admiration for the frog. 
~Even a Saint convent sect pharmacologist can't compare with it! Look at how it made an earth-class pill. It looked like it was an effortless task.~
"Look how simple it is. Due to the ingredients I used, I could only make an earth-low class pill. If the ingredients were better, I would be able to make an earth-middle class pill."

The crowd that was boiling with anger earlier was now in awe. They admitted defeat willingly. 
"This is the pet of peak leader Lin." Tian Xu spoke up. "In the future, it will teach all of you how to refine pills. Learn well and use these skills for the sect." 
As soon as the crowd heard Tian Xu's words, they were elated. 
Previously, they thought that the frog was too arrogant. But after watching the frog, they realized that it was actually a master at refining pills. The difference between them and the frog was like heaven and earth. 
"Yes." 
The group nodded. They looked at the frog in admiration. 
The frog looked up proudly. ~Look, are you all impressed?~
~If not for my cultivation, I wouldn't even give a damn about earth-class, heaven-class, or god-class...~
~That's too much. Take away the god-class.~
"It's not difficult to be my apprentice. But since I'm going to teach you all skills, I will be considered your teacher, so you have to bow to me." The frog jumped up.

But due to its size, it didn't seem that powerful. 
"Apprentice greets teacher frog!" The crowd said with respect. 
The frog nodded in satisfaction. "Great. I will teach you how to refine pills from now on. But since all of you are trash greenies, I'll teach you the basics. I will punish anyone not paying attention." 
Even though the frog called them names, the group wasn't unhappy. They were filled with excitement instead. 
It was their honor to be taught by a master. 
A few days later. 
In the secret chamber. 
"This is so slow." 
Experience points: 23992050
The increase in experience points was too slow. Adding onto the previous points he had, it was only about 20 million. He needed more to breakthrough to Heaven Star Border Stage 5. 
Lin Fan was so vexed that he was at a loss for words. 


Lin Fan was transported to another world, into the body of a normal disciple. Given the environment he was in, Lin Fan faced the risk of being killed at any time. However, something was out of place.

There are a lot of One Piece fan fictions around here, but most of them are left uncompleted.  And here is the common mistakes One piece fanfic writers make often :-

First, they give the MC a huge training period from the beginning to raise their power to become acceptable, therefore missing on the golden opportunity to add some comedy to the story.  Not just that, but they usually make the MC overpowered from the beginning, which makes the MC looks like an unmotivated bitch that just want to watch Luffy and his adventures without doing anything major.

Second mistake is sitting boundaries...  If you ever gave your MC too much power, stop trying to stick with the main plot.  There is almost no way for you to stick to the plot while not making your character boring.  I saw this line said by almost every fanfic MC "I want to join straw hat crew, because I want to watch the series unfold with my own eyes" or something similar.  Imagine having the knowledge of the plot, and the power to do whatever you like, but you always decide against telling people the plot because "I don't want to hurt their spirit" bullsiht.  You should have typed "I am a lazy writer who can't adapt to adding a new character to the series".  The thing is, an MC is called an MC, because the story is centered around him, not Luffy...  ( I could talk about this issue for years, and I won't be able to give it its right ).

Third mistake.  If you ever made the MC overpowered, and now you regret it, don't nerf him for no reason.  It is a common mistake that a lot of authors do, even in other fanfics, not only one piece.  If your MC became overpowered by a mistake, try to find entertaining ways to make him face a challenge, take Enel being unable to hurt Luffy for example.  Give your MC someone that counter him, or if you couldn't find any, then don't stick to the original series and create a plot in which your MC is doing things that are entertaining, instead of laying back and doing nothing.  If your MC is way too overpowered to the point that no one can stand a chance against him, then don't try to milk the fan fiction and prolong it; add comedic scenes instead of making it serious.  Everyone would give you thumbs up if you slapped Akainu to another dimension, then went there and slapped him back to One Piece world.  

Here is different story formulas that you can use...

If you wanted to write a story where the MC gets a certain amount of wishes from a god, write as follows:-

Write a backstory, and then you can say that the MC was hit by a truck... or if you want, you can make the most absurd reason of death.  Just for the sake of comedy, lets say that Akainu was teleported by god by a mistake, and he slapped the MC too hard, that the MC's body popped and showered the whole road with blood.

Now you have established that the MC hates Akainu for killing him for no reason.  Next, let the god offer you wishes and apologize as usual.  Or you can make the MC very vicious and extort some benefits from god, up to you.  Don't give the MC a lot of wishes, just give him 1 or 2.  In the case of this example, I will let him have one wish.

During the anger of the MC, the MC will think of an ability that counters Akainu in theory, because his goal is to kill Akainu.  For the sake of creativity I will choose (Shido Shido no Mi) also known as Temperature fruit.

Keep on mind of the following issues (Bodies in our world is way weaker than the bodies of One Piece world.  Which means if you were to send your MC there with his own body, then even a baby can bitch slap your MC...  I don't know how many people are overlooking this point...  And the training excuse is just stupid.  They don't have mana in the air there or anything that benefits the body, thus, training there will be the same as training here...  How long does it take someone to be enlightened in this world?  it takes decades of religious training to have a calm mind, let alone Haki and bullsht, so please stop sending your MCs with their original body to One Piece's world, because the only way you can argue against my point, is by saying that the world in there has more oxygen percentage in it's air, thus making creatures stronger, which can be countered by "A lot of oxygen means bigger body and higher metabolism, but we see a lot of characters in one piece eating like normal human beings")

Since you need the body from the one piece world, it is favorable to choose reincarnation.  Being born anew as a child in the world of One Piece.  If you choose to reincarnate him, make sure to mention that he was given birth to.  You can choose whichever family you want.

As for the childhood, you can either skip it outlining what happened during that period, or you can use it to add some comedic value to the story by using a chapter or two to give context to the MC's childhood.  For example, the sense of achievement that the MC felt when he started crawling, or walking!  Or you can give him one line as a baby like :-

MC's mom "It is a good morning, isn't it (Insert MC's name here)?"
MC "Ga!"
Seagull extending his hand asking for money payment for the newspaper
MC "Ga!"
A fire burning the house, while everyone is panicking the MC is like "Ga!".
While it might sounds unfunny here, if done properly, it would be as funny as the peanut butter baby. (link in the comments XD)

It is better if you don't make your MC either strong, or weak, as he should be normal, as strong as a 1m berries pirate or something like that.  If you wanted to continue the comedic scene, you can make your MC weak, and make fun of his weakness, but don't over do it, because no one likes a weak MC that has a weak character.  Despite talking about how it is better to make your MC in the middle, not strong or weak, for this example I will make the MC overpowered after childhood, to assist those who fell into the mistake of making the MC too OP.

Lets say that our MC's weapons right now are as follows: -
1- The knowledge of the plot.
2- Mehh mastery over the temperature fruit ( can start fire on flammable objects, while freezing a bottle of water )
3- Introductory level in both Kenbunshoku and Bushoku Haki.
4- A strong body.

That is enough to make him strong enough to rival a 30 million berries bounty pirate, if not stronger.

Now, the MC have 3 things he can do, be a pirate, join the marines, or be a pirate hunter.  The easiest early setup to develop an OP MC character is to make him be a pirate hunter, thus I am going to follow that example.

As the MC becomes a pirate hunter, (Insert a story here of how the MC got his boat or ship by either getting it as a gift from his family, or hunting a pirate that was terrorizing the people in his village and handing him over to the marine).

After the story of how the MC got his boat (Insert a story here of how the MC started hunting pirates, trolling them and destroying them easily cuz he is OP.  example, make the MC light the pirates' ship on fire XD, and when they jump in the sea, he make the water around them cold, making them suffer from Hypothermia, dying a slow death by either burning or freezing).

An important thing that most of the people miss, is how the MC spends his money...  You don't know how many authors talk about how the MC stole the treasures of the pirates, but never mention how the MC spent them.  I am pretty sure their MC hid the treasures by putting it inside his ass!

As for ways to spend money, it contributes to the MC's character.  You can make him spend it buying the best food ever, or saving it to buy a fake Zoan fruit in the black market, or maybe buying a high end products that will assist him, the same thing Usopp does with his money.  You can use the money to bribe marines, hire pirate hunters, there are a lot of options because Money = Power.

The way the MC spends his money is also considered a part of his character, so don't be inconsistent of making the MC a man of justice, and then make him buy from the black market.

After the adventures of the MC, include shortcuts of people who are now paying attention to the MC.

As the MC is going to be OP (cuz of the example) he will have to train before every fight, thus having no problem destroying his enemies.  If you want to extend your story, you can make the MC interact with characters of the main series, but don't make it too boring...  A lot of chapters with no action might lead people to just drop your novel.  For example, say that you want to troll Crocodile.  Instead of killing him (and your MC can kill him easily because he will be OP when he meets crocodile), you can do a hide and seek game with him, by changing the weather using temperature (search more about the subject before writing about it, a google search will take you at most an hour).  Ruining Crocodile's plan, will make him frustrated and he will act irrationally, then you can make your MC look cool by making fun of him in the middle of the fight.

The goal of the MC was to take revenge on Akainu; So you will have to align the events that occur so you can create opportunity for that to happened.  As for how the MC can use temperature fruit to counter Akainu is very easy.  Once Akainu turns to lava, the MC will freeze his lava into rock, and once Akainu converts back to his original form, he will be hit with a severe coldness that his bones will tatter.  Remember, he heals himself with Lave, so everything he tried to heal, he won't be able to, because the cold temperature will cool his lava instantly (aka, the MC can control the temperature of the lava itself, making it sold in an instant, because the MC is OP)... and while you are at it, you can make it so the MC can make a space very hot that he can open portals between world, slapping Akainu to another world, and it will be known as the story where the MC is slapping Akainu across dimensions... Some say that Akainu is still being slapped to this day, stuck in a never ending cycle of being slapped through space and time.

For those who want to make a fan fiction or the MC reincarnating without wishes, or the MC being born in the one piece world without the knowledge of the plot, or even the MC being reborn as a character, I will give examples for those, in the next chapter of Voidne's Books of Ideas!

Novel ideas I have, but have no time to write.  Sharing those ideas in the hope to support people who are getting into writing  but cannot think of any plot.  I will be glad if you used my plots as references, and am going to support you if you ever needed any suggestions. 

Not saying that my ideas are the best.  I am a human, so my ideas might be flawed, but they should be good enough for new writers at most.

Seeing we already come with the breakfast bowls in a tray on our hands, make my father in law a bit surprised.
"Son, that's really fast. I thought you'll be done making breakfast in the next fifteen minutes but you already finish now"
"There's still some leftover from last night feast, father, so I can make the breakfast faster"
"Hohoho…let me see what you make this time son"
I bring the bowl in my hand and serve that for my father and brother in law after that me and Ming Er sit on our own seats. When they open the lid that covers the bowl, fragrant aroma from fried meat and eggs released from the bowl and fills the dining room.
"Ooohh…what an aroma! What is this dish name, son?"
"It's duck meat rice with egg, father. There's a meaning behind this dish too"
"What is that?"
"The meat symbolizes the mother and egg symbolizes the children. As is says, when a duck mother takes her ducklings out and meet the enemy, the duck mother will pretend to be hurt and distracted the enemy sight to her to make her ducklings have a chance to escape. This dish symbolizes the unity of a family, in this case, Ming Er re-unite with her family"
After explaining the meaning of this dish, I hold Ming Er hand, she smiles happily hearing my explanation.
"Well said! Son, I never thought you can make a dish that has deep meaning like this. Very good! Now let's eat, don't let this dish get cold"
We start to eat quietly after that. No one is making a sound, everyone chew and digests the food in their own hand. When the breakfast finish, I can see a satisfied expression on their faces. My father in law starts to open the conversation after put his bowl down.
"Son, you should re-open your restaurant. It's too pity if your cooking skill keep buried like this"
"That's my plan father, but the customer thing still my main concern"
"You can change the restaurant's name and the outlook of the restaurant. That will attract the customer to come right?"
"I still worried if those lowly people from the chain restaurant come and make trouble, father. They like to use dirty trick to make a ruckus in the restaurant like pretending there's a bug in the food, intentionally dirtying the restaurant and even causing trouble with other customers. I'm worried about customer safety father, I can't put security guards in the front door. First, it's uncommon, second, that will scaring people to enter"
"I see. How about moving to another town?"
"The chain restaurant has many branches in many cities. That won't work father"
Ming Er that following my conversation with her father suddenly sounding her opinion
"If the customer not coming, why don't we become the one who comes to them hubby?"
"Hahaha, Ming Er, you told your husband to become a food peddler? Pulling cart and sell food on the street?"
"Dad, that's an ancient way to sell food. Now it's modern era, besides food stall only can sell one or two dishes, that's not profitable"
"Oh, so what's in your mind wifey?"
It seems Ming Er have an idea on how to make a new business. It's surprising that my wife is also a smart woman. I feel lucky to have her as my wife.
"We can sell food on the truck. We make a food truck, we come to the crowded place like park or school or construction site, places which have many people and people that need to eat, with the truck and sell the food to them. With the truck, we can move easily and cover large areas. I'm also will create an account on Instagram, YouTube, and other social media to promote our food truck"
Food Truck! 
What a brilliant idea! That's simply a portable kitchen. I can cook inside the truck and can sell it wherever the truck stops. I can't hold my urge to hug and kiss her. My father and brother in law only laughing at that. Ming Er blushing with that sudden kiss from me in front of her father and brother. But after that, I remember something.
"Wifey, that's brilliant. But your husband can't drive a truck"
"Hubby, you forget my brother here is a truck driver? He can teach you how to drive a truck"
"Yes. I can teach you driving a truck and help you get the driving license, brother. If necessary I can be the temporary driver for the food truck"
My brother in law speaks his agreement on Ming Er proposal.
Ah, that's right, I almost forget my brother in law is a truck driver. But how to make a food truck?
"Thank you brother, but how to make this food truck? I don't have any knowledge of how to make this"
"Leave that to Shao He, son. Consider this is our investment in you. We provide you the food truck, you just say what you want to install inside the truck, what kind of stove or what kind of refrigerator, just say it and you will have that installed when the food truck is ready"
"Yes, I know a place to modify truck since I have many connections in the truck business, brother. You just have to learn how to drive it later"
"Thank you, brother, father"
"You welcome son. Now you should speak with Ming Er on how you two will run this business later. I will go to the field and Shao He will go to his workplace. If you want to discuss this again, we can talk later in lunch"

After saying that my father and brother in law leave the dining room to go to their workplace, leaving me and Ming Er in there.
