Vincent growls, "I'm going to count to three," and then stops. The rest of it is up to him. Without my presence, he will find me... and I will regret it.

I'm familiar with the game, and the only way it can end is with shattered bones. Mis wolves will take over and make me pay if I don't show up. Even if I do as he commands, his wolf will still seize control and I will be the one to pay the price.

'One!' He snarls, his tone stern.

I dig my nails into my palm till they bleed as a tear slowly slides down my cheek. Even as I write this, my bottom lip trembles with the weight of more tears. I want Logan to understand how much he's causing me pain.

Vincent counts to two as he gestures for me to come over to where he is. I can feel his excitement building. He craves the number 'three,' and he's hoping for it.

Emma woke up to a sleeping Lily right beside her. 
Emma shook Lily's arm gently at an attempt of trying to wake her up. 
"Lil, wake up! Assembly starts at about an hour or so," Emma whispered as Lily opened one of her eyes. 
"5 more minutes," she said as her eyes once again dropped to a close. 
"What time did you stay up until for you to be this tired?" Emma asked curiously to her half-conscious best friend. 
"3 AM," Lily admitted, eyes still closed and head still buried in pillows. 
"Well, that must mean you didn't get enough sleep," Emma realized. 
"Well. I'll be ordering breakfast soon. Any specific requests food-wise?" Emma asked.
Lily nodded in her sleep. 
"Caffeine," she muttered. 
Emma nodded. 
"Okay. Coffee it is, then."
After ordering their breakfast, and a short wait later, the two girls sat across each other, savouring their breakfasts. 
Lily had freshened up and looked radiant in a button dress, suede pumps, and a coat. 
Emma had freshened up, wearing light makeup, keeping it cosy in a brown monochromatic look. She wore a turtleneck, pairing it with a midi skirt and pumps and wearing a coat draped over her shoulders.
Courtney and Winnie walked past the two girls, macchiato in hand and designer coat in the other. 
"Look at you losers. Having breakfast made by some random chefs. My breakfasts are always made by private chefs daddy hires to cook," she boasted as she took a sip of her diabetic macchiato. 
Emma rolled her eyes. 
"Well, no amount of money your daddy can pay will be able to buy you a better attitude," she said snarkily. 
Lily snickered. Emma had completely obliterated Courtney with her words. 
Courtney scoffed. 
"Watch what you say, peasant," she replied as she stormed out of the room, Winnie in tow, and right behind her. 
At the word 'peasant', Lily had instinctively stood up to defend her best friend, but Emma waved her hand, signalling Lily to back off. 
"How do you deal with people like her?" Lily asked, quite startled at how calm her best friend was. 
Emma shrugged calmly. 
"We're bound to meet people like this in life. We just have to make sure to not let them get to our heads," she said as she continued eating breakfast.
Meanwhile, with a furious Courtney and Winnie, in a rage, Courtney had fished her phone out from her coat's many pockets to place a call.
A short while later, a voice picked up, and Courtney placed the phone beside her ear. 
"Hello? Yes. That thing I requested? I want it to spread like wildfire. Make sure everyone sees it. Especially the girl," she ordered as she walked to the dorm's elevator, Winnie right behind her. 
The two girls entered the elevator, and just as the doors were about to close, a smirk curved on Courtney's face heavily covered with makeup. 
Hours later, James, Emma and Lily were situated on the seats of ZALE's private cafeteria. 
It was their break after assembly and classes, so they decided to spend their time in the cafeteria. 
Emma and James sat beside each other, being all lovey-dovey as they fed each other food, while Lily played the perfect role of the single third wheel who watched their acts of PDA and wondered when was the time she could snag a prince charming herself. 
The fourth seat was empty, as Connor, who was the very same guy who had asked Lily to dance with during their very first waltz class, was caught up with something and would be late. 
As expected, he arrived late, but he had prepared some shocking news to inform the trio of.
"Emma! Just the person I was looking for. I have something to show you," he said as he approached the three. 
Luckily, he hadn't noticed the two feeding each other, or James would never hear the end of it. 
James stared uneasily at the magazine Connor held, wondering what was it that his brother wanted to show her. 
"Connor, hi. What is it that you wanted to show me?" She asked. 
He took a deep breath.
"Emma, you made it to the ZALE magazine, how you did...I guess you'll have to see for yourself.
The serious expression on Connor's otherwise good-looking face only worried Emma even more, as he took the magazine in his hands and placed it on the table. It was ZALE's weekly magazine. And what was on its cover shocked and enraged the trio. 
"Maid's daughter turns out to be royal from wedlock and is now attending ZALE for the whole semester," Emma said aloud, reading the headline of the magazine. 
At the front and very centre of its cover was a picture of Emma edited it to make it look like she was trying to hide her face. 
Emma and Lily stared at the cover, the both of them knowing everything in the cover was true but appalled at who might've found out about this piece of news and had the audacity to get it to the front cover of the ZALE weekly magazine. 
James looked enraged, but what shocked him even more, was how Emma was too calm. 
"What. Is. This." James stressed out, teeth gritted. 
Connor frowned. 
"This week's cover for ZALE's weekly magazine, apparently," he said as he seemed just as upset as his half-brother. 
"Who would do such a thing?" Connor asked. 
Emma sighed. She looked at Courtney and Winnie perched nearby. 
As much as she wanted to admit that many people would, she knew exactly who found out about her parentage and exposed her was.
"I have my suspicions," she admitted.
James turned to Emma. 
"Is this true? Are you truly a maid's daughter? Or is this some made-up nonsense?" He asked. 
Emma slowly nodded, nervous at how he'd react. She had mentioned she was born out of wedlock, but she never really mentioned who her mother was, and what she worked as.
"I wanted to tell you, but it would've been weird if I suddenly mentioned that. In all fairness, I did mention I was born out of wedlock," she said as she stared at her face on the magazine placed on their cafeteria table. 
Lily shook her head. 
"Just because this cover is true doesn't make it any less invasive and wrong," she said as she glared daggers to Courtney, knowing she had something to do with this. 
James clenched his fist, while Connor remained silent. He was usually one to observe from the sidelines, and only join if necessary. 
"Agreed." 
Emma smiled. 
"Well. There's nothing we can do about it, can we? If the people that did this had ill intentions of wanting me to react in a way that would only further proceed to humiliate myself, wouldn't it only give them even more satisfaction if I overreacted and went berserk?" She reasoned, a hint of terror in her voice. 
Lily nodded. Even if this wasn't the route she wouldn't have taken, she knew her best friend was one to keep quiet now but get her revenge much later. 
"My best friend is one smart person. I know she won't let some magazine cover get in her way so easily," she said as she smirked, proud of how her best friend handled things.
James was still utterly shocked at how she reacted, and Connor still remained silent, not wanting to anyhow intervene.
James spoke, breaking his silence. As much as he wanted to pull her into an embrace, or bring her to some paradise where she couldn't get hurt anymore, he couldn't, and since both Lily and Connor was here, they'd have to dial down the PDA for the meanwhile.
"Well. Emma, you're right. But, we still have to find out who did this. First, it was Lily's poisoning. Second, it was this magazine cover. Someone is out to get you, and matters will worsen," he said, worried for Emma's safety. 
The last thing he wanted was for her, out of all people, to get hurt. The fact that she would have almost been poisoned, and now was close to being humiliated and exposed privacy-wise, he didn't want to admit, but it terrified him to his very core.

Dead End Again

Nothing.

Stuck back where we began.

I hate how John got the easy job of destroying a ship, and we're chasing dead ends, and wasting time.

This sucks.

Not wanting to sit around we plant grenades in places to destroy the base. The source really only took out the power.

"Any suggestions?" I ask.

Silence.

"Back to the marines then" I sigh. At a jogging speed we make our way back using the normal route to ensure it's really clear.

The marines are more jovial when we return.

"Great job spartans!"

"Finally a little peace around here. Haven't slept for days."

Quietly I walk off towards the war tent.

The people are talking when I step in, and I stand near the holograms. There really isn't anything else here.

"Pelicans will be here within the hour, and your going to Utgard, Harvest's capital, to evacuate civillans. I'd enjoy that hour" he says to me, and I leave.

Hm leaving already.

We're kind of fighting a war Creature.

I am aware. Just can't even sit down for a minute or so.

We have an hour. Don't you pay attention? 

"We're leaving soon, so enjoy the peace" I advise sitting down against a tree.

In our small gathering we sit quietly. There isn't much else to do, so we just wait. For reason I find calamity in reloading then unreloading my weapon.

I'm not sure why, but it just feels relaxing.

Anna is asleep, and I can't blame her. It's only been a couple days, but I'm worn. I've haven't slept at all.

We get dropped in a courtyard, and immediately retreat to the cover of a building. I don't know what to do. Adams just said that we were being moved. He didn't say what we were doing.

How do we evacuate civilians?

I don't know what to do, but we need to do something.

"Keep an eye on the radio" I spoke moving behind the back of the building. We need to make it to some sort of civillan area.

The area is clear for now, but we keep moving. We have to been sent here to evacuate, and I intend to complete my mission.

To be honest I haven't seen anyone. How can we evacuate them if they are hiding?

We reach an area with plants, and benches. Most of them are dead, and the benches on fire. However, I do start to pick up some movement.

The dots are yellow which could be civies, or aliens. 

No, aliens are red.

We follow the dots, and reach a set of stairs heading below ground. It looks barricaded from the inside. It's possible that Marines are holding out with civillans.

It looks the the enemy has moved on, but I don't want to be too loose about it. We've learned already that they have the numbers.

"Should we knock?" Mathew questions as I scan the buildings.

"We should split. Could be snipers in those towers. Maybe one team make a perimeter, and other will make contact with the people." Eddie puts in stepping in between.

"Kilo make contact. Tango with me."

"I'm takin' point boss" Hailey spoke up, and I just shrug. I'm not too fond of everyone else making my decisions, but we're a team.

Mathew takes the rear, and we jog in a diamond formation back to the safety of the buildings. It's much better cover. With our armor being black we're harder to spot.

Jogging, we follow a road until it reaches a main road then make a right. It's clear until we reach the second corner.

I can hear a humming noise approaching from the left, and I don't recognize it.

"Ours?" Sophie wonders, and I shake my head.

"We need to move the people Dylan. They came back for a reason. They'll be sitting ducks."

I motion for us to retreat, and we make a break for the enterence. I knock twice before entering, and immediately headed to Kaleb.

"There's five Marines for thirty civies. Transports are waiting, and we can take the tunnels. They go below main street, and into a library. It's where they've been getting access to supplies." he explains.

"Teams. Fifthteen a piece. Marines can divide, and conquer. Anna, and Ian make sure our route is safe." I instruct.

The highest ranking soldier address the civillans, and tells them to gather their things. We're moving now.

Sylvia with bring the rear this time as I join Kilo this time.

Most of the civillans are mid-aged with children hiding among them. It'll take time, but we can move building by building.

I follow behind Tango leading my group, and we only stop to wait for the 'all clear. '

Waiting patiently I look over everyone until Ian pokes down to wave at me. We move three minutes behind the other team.

"Dropship behind us." Anna tells, and I climb out of the hole into the library. Anna is up on the second level with a DMR.

Ian leaves to rejoin Sophie, who is leading Tango, to help them progress. Anna waves her hand, and motions to the door below the balcony.

I wave back at the group, and let them pass me before I walk next to Sylvia.

"Take no chances. If we have to we'll divert them away."

"I'm quick for a Spartan boss. I can do it. I'll be safe" she promises.

Leaving the library we enter the main area of a mall. Anna directs us to a store where we leave through the back door. Stopping to check the radar I do a head count.

Good so far.

"Left" I whisper motioning with my fingers then pause behind a doorway. I follow beside a civillan, and watch the street. 

Anna stops us before we leave the library to cross the main road. She drops down from the second level.

"Sylvia is dealing with a sniper. We might have to find them cover in the event that the sniper called in our location" she explains.

"Take cover. Now!" I order them, and we move furniture to make our own places to hide. 

My rifle is pointed towards the street, and my finger inches. I'm ready, and eager too. 

There's a small sort of thrill in killing. The power, and strength. It makes one feel unstoppable. Kind of how I feel now. 

"Their coming!" Anna yells finding cover as she knocks a shelf over. 

"How many?" I question shifting. 

"Two elite battle groups with a grunt squad."

"Ian, Anna. Go long range, and buy us some time. Mathew get them out!" I yell, and move to the opening. I use my DMR to take out a couple Grunts with a headshot. The rest of them scatter.

I duck down to get a better view, and break the shields of an elite. It jumps to the side, but I have to reload. It's shields return, and I can hear them communicating.

Behind me the room is clear, but I hold my position firing upon the group. I fall back when my helmet starts beeping. My forearm has some purple crystal impaled.

"I think we have a sniper. Where are we on reaching the transports?" I ask poking out with more caution. 

I finish off an elite after a sniper round broke it's shields.

"We moving through a apartment building, and we still have over one hundred meters before the hangar."

"I got the sniper boss. Make sure you get tended to" Ian calls. 

"Boss got injured?" Destiny interupts, and I shake my head while shaking my wrist to sooth the pain.

"Yeah. Just my wrist. It's fine. Move up snipers" I grumple moving towards them.

The civilians are resting, and I look around. Some of my spartans are missing. 

Destiny grabs my arm, and looks at it. She throws the crystals away, and puts pressure on the wound. 

"I don't have a bandage, or I'd bandage it for you." she says turning my arm. I shrug, and wave the pain off by shaking it. 

"See if you can get in to contact with an UNSC forces using a pelican. Maybe we don't have to walk them all the way" I ask Destiny.

I join the snipers by the window. Staring at the streets below I sigh mentally. I'm already drained.

"Most coms are down, and the ones left are distress calls. We have a group of marines barricaded, and under attack from a Phantom." Destiny says joining us.

"They'll be pinned until enemy forces can reach them." I murmer.

Time for a split op then?

Yes. I'm worried, but we can't leave them stranded until the predator strikes.

Is Mathew ready to command?

He has to be.

"Tango. Gear up. Civilians need to get movie before those transports leave. Kilo with me we'll rescue the trapped Marines" I explain waving Ian to remain with them.

"I'm counting on you Mat" I finish before we pause at a hole in the wall.

I motion with two fingers to move forward as I watch for snipers.

"Stay low, move fast" Sylvia urges pausing behind a car for a millisecond. 

I follow behind at a quicker pace then join them behind a building. We make a formation, and double time towards the objective.

As we get closer I can hear the Phantom's main weapon firing over, and over.

The Marines are ducked in the basement of a destroyed building, and there's a hole in the wall where they are shooting from. 

We slip inside by what's left of a door, and move to the hole to return fire. I get a headshot on the Grunt, but pull back when the cannon directs its fire on me.

"Supposedly we were getting an evac, but haven't been able to reach anyone, and that was over an hour ago" a women spoke to me, "Corporal Clarissa, but I go by Lisa."

"What's the deal here?" Destiny questions.

"We evacuated civilians, and then command told us to meet up with Bravo company from the Infantry Division, but they're across the courtyard taking refuge in a power plant" she explains as the Phantom retreats.

We can't leave them Creature

No, but what about the others. We need to rejoin them.

The Marines gathered their things, and Tiff grabs my arm.

"We'll escorts them won't we?" she asks, and I shrug.

"Don't know. We can't save everyone in a war" I whisper.

She stars, but I can't see her expression behind her visor.

"No, but we shouldn't abandon the ones that we can" She replies, and I sigh. I can't argue with that, but I've never been separated from my team.

I knew it was going to happen, but the thought brings pain to me.

"We'll make it quick" I tell her, and we let them lead the way.

The courtyard is mostly on fire, and the ground is cracked. There aren't any trees anymore, but there was corpses. 

Civilians, and Marines.

We jog behind them, and reach the building, but there's no company.

"They were here. Fresh tracks in the rubble. Heading down towards the ONI building there." a male Marine deciphers pointing to a structure.

"We better go. Now" Destiny says looking at me, and I nod.

We're going farther, and farther.

I get a sick feeling in my gut, but we push on.

They move slower, but cautious. Taking cover behind buildings before moving up. We trail behind, and locate gunfire nearby. 

Well this time it's close enough to hopefully mean something.

"Mathew to Dylan"

I freeze immediately, and stop in my tracks.

"What's wrong?" I ask motioning for them to continue.

"We've reached the site, and the transports are all gone except one." Mat explains.

I relax a bit, and breathe a little. 

I rejoin the others to take down the Covie party. Mostly elites, but we have to take cover to avoid possible sniper fire.

"Flare! Flare! I can see a flare!" shouted a man pointing away from the fight. I pull him under cover, and return fire at our attackers. They were shooting at someone.

More than likely UNSC soldiers.

"Move. We'll finish here" I order Lisa, and her men. It takes a nudge, and a little covering fire to get them going.

"Kilo! Move up!" I shout taking out the easier targets.

Just elites. 5 of them.

"One elite per spartan. Make it count" I add, and vanished behind a building to sprint around the side of the building then down to street. I made it behind the group. I stop, and put my rifle on my back.

Elite on my radar. Assassination.

I grab my knife, and move silently. For some reason I sneak better on my tippy toes.

I pause at a corner, and Sylvia tapped me.

"Mine" I mouthed pointing, and she slips around the other side of the dumpster. I look at the elite again, and he's moving from side to side to avoid fire.

I move behind him, and I realize how big elites are. I have to jump just to climb onto his back. Finding a place to plant my feet in his armor.

I have to hold two hands while he turns, and swings his sword backwards to knock me off. I slam my fist down on his helmet to gain enough opening to stab the elite in the neck.

Landing back on the ground, and roll back behind cover.

I can feel the rush of adrenaline in my body, and I stand up to move back. I want to kill another.

Where's Ian?

I wonder peeking around the corner, but to my disappointment there aren't anymore.

"Boss I see our strays. Three Marines, and a bunch of civies. Four to be exact." Tiffany says waving in my direction. The group emerges, and we return to join the other half of Kilo.

"Double time. Keep your heads down" I order as we take a shortcut.

"Spartan 116 to Lisa. We're on the way to the LZ. Has the pelican arrived?" I ask bringing up the rear to make sure we don't have stragglers.

"Affirmative, but you need to hurry."

"We're almost there." I answer. 

The LZ is a street, and I can see the soldiers waiting by the pelican. I gently give an urging push on the people in the back.

"As fast as you can! Go!" I urge keeping up with them easily. I've got the energy to run, but I can't.
It's a mixture of fear, and excitement. I assassinated my first elite, and I'm still aching to hear from Mathew.

I hope he's okay.

The war for the Covenant has taken it's toll on both soldiers, and civillans alike. The Spartan IIs are no different losing their lives, and families. Red-Kilo is no different with the exception of being recovered from a Insurrection cell. They'll join Red team in their journey aboard the Spirit of Fire.

I often come across fics in my 'collection' on here that are one continuous storyline. They go on hiatus for a few days and within no time at all, because I will read other fics in the meantime, I forget what it was about and the entire new chapter makes almost no sense at all.

This often happens when people take a break in the middle of a mission or adventure for example. That causes all contexts and new names to be lost.

As a result, I often drop the fic because it clearly doesn't interest me anymore, as else I'd have remembered what was going on.

So, let's take a look at how WN goes to work

What can we do, to get our newly published works noticed?

If I look at my own behaviour, then I notice that all the new fics and novels that I find, are through keyword based searches and sorting on the recently updated ones.

Why is that?
For me, its because the other options make little sense to me. Searching on power stones, collections and trending makes no sense when you are looking for brand new stuff.

However, does that even show up in the updated list?
Frankly, I'm not sure that it does so immediately.

So what can a brand new author do, to be found more easily?
If we look at publishing wise, then I think a good precaution could be to upload 2 chapters. Perhaps 1 is an auxiliary or prologue, and the second the first full chapter or simply your second chapter.

This also has several benefits. If you don't catch the attention and hook your readers interest in the first chapter, then they're likely to move on.

That's why your first chapter should always be made to do just that.

If we look at news articles, you'll notice that they're build up by doing exactly that.

1. Attention grabbing title
2. Summerised introduction paragraph
3. Detailed substance there of.

So how does this look if we translate it to a WN story?
Let's try!

2. My Harley roared as I gunned it through the deserted streets, the apocalypse right behind me. Thousands of zombies, of the fast and mutating kind right on my heels. I had been a mere factory worker at J&J making medical implants hours ago when something went horribly wrong. 

3. Somewhere something had gotten out, a patient zero, a bioweapon, an experiment. I don't know. All I knew was that my colleagues and I were producing silicone medical implants when suddenly my boss stormed in snarling, jumped across the room and ripped little timmy's throat out with his bare Teeth before charging at Monica, aiming to infect like a rabbit beast on a mission.

As you can see, this format whilst not the most common one, does actually work. Even when writing, it pulled me in and almost made me forget that this was an random example and not a draft for a new novel. 

This is the format that we read in blogs and the news papers. Sensationalism at its finest, and we swallow it up each day. 

The reason that this works is because we have become impatient. The first 10 seconds we see something, we make a decision whether to continue for a little more or not. 

We judge prematurely in 10 seconds. 

This is why in my country, we aim for 30 second commercials with this same formula. Because after that? No one pays attention. 

This lead to apps like tictoc where in the space of 10 seconds we judge a video. The beauty of tictoc is that we rarely do not watch a video in its entirety if it looks even remotely interesting, and stories are just like it.

An honorable mention in this, is to NEVER waste chapters on baby and childhood periods if it is not necessary. 

Usually that entire amount of relevant information from that time period to your story can be summerised into a single paragraph with the same level of effect.

So make use of the update function, and apply 3 step sensationalism to the start of the story. What else? 

Image. 
There are stories on here that I just couldn't bring myself to read because of the cover image they used, and stories that I read that absolute werent worth my time, simply because the cover image was that good. 

Your cover image is like product packaging. Webnovel did a good job of providing a neutral text based cover image for those who do not want to fork out the cash for an original cover and don't have the talent to make one. 

One of the most important lessons I have learned when judging books by their cover is if they show characters on them. 

In fanfics with the original characters, that's not an issue when they feature said characters because you already have that image of them. 

In non visual original works however, I find that not showing a recognisable character, or face goes a long way to make the book look more mysterious and interesting. 

Because the moment you place the face of a character,  you trigger the judging part of the brains. Just like in tinder when you first open it and are picky. You swipe no more often than not. Untill you get so desperate to get a match that you are willing to chance it. 

Thus, no matter how cool you think the cover character is. You want to hide the face or make it unrecognisable. 

A good example to use is the cover used by: The Mech Touch by Exlor here on WN. The cover character looks interesting but since you can't see what they really look like under the Visor, it doesn't trigger judging mode. 

It is for this same reason that I recommend to always choose either Iconic looking images, such as a grungy looking hand in zombie fics, or unrecognisable characters to people going for book covers. 

Learn from your own bookshelve and see what sorts of covers the books you bought have. I am willing to bet, that most do not have a face on them and if they do, it's been stylized to be less confrontational.

- 2 posts
- 123 Sensationalism
- Mysterious book cover

What else? 
- Publishing frequency. 
If you write a story, but have too large a spacing in between posts, then you will loose readers.  Even if you post 70 pages worth on the app once a month, you will loose readers. 

The reason is that on WN you're not the exclusive novel or fic people read. You're one of the dozens at a time. 

Thus, it's best to post a chapter of about 1500 - 2500 words (10 - 20 pages on the app ) with a few days in between each update then it is to post infrequently. 

You need to remain in people's minds, and preferably release 2-3 chapters or more a week to do so. If you can't write that often or fast, then don't worry.

You can use timed releases, binge write untill your muse is gone and release each chapter whenever you time it. It's even possible to write now and set up a release schedule for next year! 

In many cases, going about it like that, with a buffer time between you and when your story is due is better as well. It gives you breathing room, your fans won't have too much influence on your drive to write with shitty comments and you get to write the story you had in mind. 

This is both self assurance and protection, a way to remove the stress and just work at your own pace, just the way you want to. No stress. 

Just look at the earlier mentioned Exlor. He has a release rate of 3 chapters per day. That's insane! Yet he's able to do it because he writes ahead. 

All the negativity and distractions are way behind him when he gets them, because he's already at least 40 chapters ahead. He does his own thing, and I wouldn't be surprised if he's further ahead than even that.

Finally, there is the legibility provided by proper formatting.

I'm not a star in that as you see, the Inkstone editor does not seem to corrospond with what my reader displays.

But I have a few simply tricks for you to apply none the less:
1. Small paragraphs of 2-3 sentences tops.
2. White lines before and after each person talking.
3. Never use capslock
4. Look at your favourite WN entry and copy their formatting.

I hope these suggestions and ideas help you get your story out there. I know I'm not perfect and that most of this is based on self assessments and my own experiences both on the app and on my job in the visual creative industry.

Thoughts and Idea's with regards to fanfictions, builds for characters, weapons and more.

I'm not an author, my interests in a concept don't last long enough to write it and I am admittedly not the strongest in writing a decent dialog.

I'm someone who is Hyper Aware of a lot of things, and one of them is if something severely lacks. Whilst I can do art Inspite of that, I just can't bring myself to write dialog that doesn't feel perfectly natural.

That said, I do often write drafts for stories, sometimes I even manage a chapter worth of dialog that any author would be proud to own, but when it's about the baseline that I achieve for my dialogs, then I prefer not to publish.

However, I do have ideas, so many ideas and thoughts on things that I feel the need to express them. Hopefully, they will be of help for authors, who are feeling stuck or unsure how to develop their story, or want to write one but are unsure about what to write.

So, long story short. What follows are drafts for fics and stories. Ideas on how to build a convincingly strong character without needing all those rediculously overpowered bloodlines and abilities.

Ideas on how to develop abilities and exploit them, that you might not have thought to try.

Because let's face it, a creative mind can make even the simplest of abilities into a versatile master piece.

All of those things, you will find here, sooner or later. So have fun, be inspired or horrified at what you read. ;p

I woke up and did my regular mornin schedules while my mom did hers.
Friday? 
Friday was my favorite day of the week because it is the gateway to Saturday which is my best day of the week.
My mom prepared my brunch in my little food basket and put some puff puff as snacks for me.
My mom's puff-puff is the most delicious.
This is how she makes hers:
Ingredients
3 milk Cups All-purpose Flour
2 to 1-1/5 Cup Water
2 Teaspoons Yeast
1 Teaspoon Nutmeg 
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
Half Cup of Sugar
1 Cup Onion (Blended/Grated)
4 Whole ata rodo 
Oil
Preparation
1. Blend or grate the Onion and pepper set aside.
2. Add all the dry ingredients together in a large bowl, mix together and set aside.
3. Add the blended Onion and Pepper. Begin to add water a little at a time while mixing the batter.
4. Once the batter is smooth and lump free, cover it up with a plastic wrap or a tight lid and leave it to rise for 1 hour.
5. Pre-heat the Oil to 350°F and scoop a little bit of dough, you can make it bigger or smaller if you wish and drop into the oil.
6. Fry both sides until golden brown.
Tada! magic right?
My mom is the best cook in the world.
Her cooking is so delicious that you can bite your tongue. 
Through the nice aroma emitting from the outside kitchen, the message passed was that jollof rice was what she cooked for me.
This is how she prepares her delicious jollof rice:
4 Tablespoons of vegetable oil
1 Tbsp butter
4 Fresh tomatoes 
1 poundedTomato paste
4 Red onions
2 Red bell peppers (tatashe)
crayfish
4 Habanero pepper (scotch bonnet) 
4 1/2 cups of long-grain parboiled rice
2 cups of chicken stock
Spices:
Dadawa
salt
cayenne pepper and black pepper
white pepper
Bay leaves
curry powder
garlic or onion powder
ginger
thyme leaves
INSTRUCTIONS
Heat about 4 tablespoons of vegetable oil and butter in a medium-sized pot on medium heat and throw in some chopped red onions. Allow the onions to fry until the redness starts to slightly fade off.
Next, pour in your tomato paste and let it fry with the onions. Make sure to stir the paste consistently to avoid burning. Do this for about 10 mins, or until the paste fully fries in the oil. Add in your crayfish for an extra tasty flavor.
Blend some tomatoes, onions, habanero peppers, and red bell peppers together until you achieve a smooth consistency.
Pour in the blended mixture into the pot and fry it together with the tomato paste.
Add all your spices (BUT DON'T ADD SALT YET) and mix. Cover the pot and allow the tomato to fry in the oil. Add more oil if necessary. You really want to let the tomato fry to remove the slappy sour taste, so make sure you don't rush this process. I would recommend letting it fry for about 20-30 mins. Be sure to continuously stir the mixture to avoid burning.
At this point, while the tomato is frying, begin to wash your long grain parboiled rice. Make sure to get rid of as much starch as possible by washing the rice until the water used becomes very clear. This helps to avoid the rice from sticking together when cooking.
Once the tomato is done frying, add your chicken stock to the mix and taste to see if it requires any salt. Add salt if necessary and mix.
Now add in your washed rice (and a bit of water if necessary to cook the rice) and mix it together with the fried tomatoes. Turn down the heat to the lowest on your burner and cover the pot. I personally like to cover the pot with aluminum foil before putting on the lid just to make sure the heat stays within the pot without escaping from the lid hole.
Allow the rice to cook for about 30 minutes.
After about 30 minutes open the pot and properly combine all the ingredients together. Cover the pot again, and let it cook for an additional 10 minutes or until the rice has fully blended in with the mixture.
By the way, if you want the smokey taste of most party jollof rice popular in Nigeria, cooking on firewood, or using a stainless steel pot would give that extra flavor as well. Lol

. She has two methods to cook it. the former was firewood method and for the latter is the oven or hob method
 
 Ingredients
4 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tbsp butter
14.5 pounded tomatoes paste
2 red bell peppers
6 tomato 
3 large whole red onion
1 cup chopped red onion
1/4 cup blended crayfish
4 Habanero peppers (based on how spicy you want)
4 1/2 cups long grain parboiled rice
2 cups chicken stock
1 tbsp Dadawa
1 tbsp salt
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper and black pepper
1/2 tsp white pepper
3 single bay leaves
1/2 tbsp curry powder
1/2 tsp garlic/onion powder
1/2 tsp thyme
1/4 tsp ginger
Instructions
Blend tomatoes, red bell peppers, habanero peppers, large red onions until consistency is smooth and set aside

Wash the rice thoroughly to rid off starch and set aside.

To a medium-sized pot on medium heat, heat canola oil and butter 

Throw in chopped onions and allow to fry for about 5 mins or until redness starts to fade

Pour in tomato paste and allow to fry for about 10-15 minutes, stirring continuously to avoid burning. 

Add in your blended mixture, crayfish, dadawa, cayenne & black pepper, white pepper, bay leaves, curry powder, garlic, thyme. Mix and fry for about 30 minutes, continuously stirring to avoid burning.

Add chicken stock and salt. Mix and allow cook for an additional 10 mins

Add in washed rice and a bit of water (my mom rarely does it ), and reduce heat to low.

Cover pot with aluminum foil, to avoid heat from escaping through lid

Cook rice on low heat for about 30 mins 

Once cooked, mix thoroughly to combine ingredients 

Cover and let cook for an additional 10 mins.

To get the Jollof flavor, turn up the heat and let the rice burn for about 3 mins. (Be careful with this step, so you don't burn the whole rice) 
For spices: Add as much or as little depending on your preference and taste choice.
the "firewood" taste, you can use foil, make a little cup on top of your rice & heat a piece of coal…pop that in your foil cup & close the lid…let it smoke a little & take the coil out, guarantee you will love that…you can also do this with all the other smoky dishes.

Then the dodo:
Ripe plantain
vegetable oil
salt.
Method
Dice the peeled plantain or can cut it into any shape you want
sprinkle a pinch of salt on it and mix it up
Steam the vegetable oil inside a deep pot
Then fry the salted plantain to deep brown color

Add it to your assorted jollof rice and enjoy the goodness of life.
My mom took me to school as usual and gave me a word of advice and left me on my own to fight my own battle.

As the machine was running, Lance went over to the book cover press, he needed a cover for the book. As soon as he got close a window popped up.

Lance found that interesting, As long as he had the bound book he could easily produce the cover. He went over to the computer and started printing another copy. As he waited for that to finish, he went back to the binding station and grabbed the finished book. He placed it on the book cover press and selected the title. The machine took the bound copy and started to make the cover. 

Lance picked up the pages from the printer and did the same as he did with the first. The cover press had finished and Lance picked up the finished book. It looked almost exactly like the original. He decided to inspect it just to make sure.

He did it, The book was an exact copy, and able to teach the class. He was ecstatic, this opened up so much for him now. Not only can he learn classes from books, but he might even be able to give those to his team mates. He quickly finished the second copy. 

He rushed from the study and knocked on Elandra's door, "Hey, I got the book ready for you." Lance stood just on the other side holding all three books. 

Elandra came to the door, "Oh? that was quick." She expected it to take him a couple days or longer to just make one copy. 

Lance handed the book to Elandra, "If you learn it, let me know." He then rushed off downstairs to give the other copy to Sharna. 

Sharna was still sitting in the living room. She was practicing the other magic spells they had to learn. With the help of Lance, she was able to learn one of the other orb spells rather quickly. She sat with a fire orb floating in the palm of her hand. 

"Oh? That's pretty good." Lance came from behind and startled her. The orb disappeared in a cloud of smoke. "I'm sorry." He felt bad, she was so focused and he interrupted her. 

"It's okay. I was able to learn it. Anyways, what's up?" She was trying to hide the fact that she got spooked. 

"Here." Lance held out a copy of the book.

Sharna reached out and took the book, "You were able to copy it?" She was kind of surprised. He wasn't gone that long, and he was holding two books. 

"Of course." Lance had a big grin on his face as he walked around the couch and sat down. 

Elandra came down as well and sat in her chair. "We should call this the meeting room." She placed the book in front of her on the table and looked to the three. "So, what are we going to do now?"

Lance looked to the book in his hands. If it was similar to the spells, then he should learn it and see if he could impart any knowledge he learned. "I'll learn the class, and see if I can speed up the process for you." 

Sharna held the book tightly, "Alright, then lets try this." She looked around at everyone, finally stopping on Lance as she watched the events about to unfold. 

Lance took a deep breath. He focused on his basic knowledge currently, he used this as a baseline. Then he opened the interface and learned the new class.

The book disappeared in a colorful display of lights. Lance's understanding of the class begun to grow. He could not only understand what ESP was, but how to use it. After studying the changes in his mind, he opened his eyes and turned to the two. 

"Okay, so. ESP, or Extra-Sensory Perception is a trait of the mind." Lance begun explaining as best he could about all the changes that happened. "I'm able to feel the life force around me, and my senses are heightened. Even my thinking speed as increased a bit." 

Elandra was listening while reading through the book. "So ESP is all psychic. You can learn how to manipulate objects as well as read minds and sense danger." She was beginning to understand the contents. 

Sharna was reading through her book as well. "Not just sense danger, time seems to slow for the user." Her understanding was becoming apparent as she continued. 

Lance watched the two girls. He kept a close eye to see if either of them learned the class. Sharna was faster at reading than Elandra, but it was still taking a long time for them to read the book. 

"I get it!" Sharna shouted in excitement. "ESP is a power very similar to Mage's. The only difference is that one is for battle, and the other is more for support and defence." She was almost finished the book.

"No, an ESP power can also be used in attack if you use it right." Elandra was still trying to keep up with Sharna. Slowly though, she was learning how to use these new powers and how they could help her in combat. 

Lance scanned the two to see if either of them has learned the class yet. Unfortunately, after almost an hour of waiting, nothing yet. 

Sharna shut her book and placed it on the table. She then stood up, closed her eyes and spun around a few times. While keeping her eyes closed, she started to walk around the room. 

To Lance's amazement, she avoided everything while blinding herself. She continued to walk around for a while till she got behind Lance. With a big smile, she threw her arms around him and gave him a hug, "I think I've done it." 

Lance did a quick scan, and there it was. Sharna had a new class, ESPer. "Yeah, you did. Congrats." Lance was quite happy. Her having a new class meant so much. 

Not wanting to be beaten, Elandra stayed focus on her book. She was going to learn this new skill, one way or another. 

While Elandra was still studying, Lance picked up the book Sharna read and inspected it.

To his surprise, he could still use the book, even though someone else learned from it. Now he would make copies only so he could teach Elandra and Sharna. And maybe sell the extra copies later on. 

The room remained silent as Elandra continued to read. Vixen, Sharna, and Lance all watched with bated breath for her to finish. After another half hour, Elandra shut her book and let out a breath. "I think I done it." She closed her eyes as she tried to sense her surroundings. 

Lance quickly scanned her and he could see the new class as clear as day. "You did it!" He was even more excited now. They all had a rare and unique class, and best of all, they will only get more powerful. 

"Hey, so, with these, 'classes' how are we going to make them stronger?" Elandra became curious. Even with these new classes, she couldn't figure out how to level them up. 

"That's what I want to test tomorrow." He knew he could max it out right now, but he wasn't going to share that with them. "I get experience from killing monsters, as do my tames. I'm hoping its the same for you guys."

Elandra thought this made sense, "Alright. The mission is up if you two want to accept it. We will meet at the gates tomorrow afternoon." And with that taken care of, she headed back upstairs. 

Sharna looked down, "Do you really think that will work?" She wasn't good at fighting monsters. If she could get stronger, she would do it. But she still felt that she was going to hold everyone back. 

Lance rubbed Sharna's back, "This will work. I promise." He wanted to reassure her. Lance would do anything he could to keep his friends safe.

Gabby looked at what Mia is pointing at, the Snap!'s magazine thrown on the floor where the front cover side is up. Gabby could not stand Mia's behavior anymore. First she threw his magazine that he and his staff had worked hard for, and now she is demanding for another version?

Fine!

Gabby calmed down and faced Mia with a calmed expression, but his anger can still be seen "Alright Mia, we'll make another version of the magazine" Gabby simply said and picked up the magazine to shove it harshly on Mia's hands

"Please do not just throw our magazine full of hard work on the floor, especially not in front of me!" Gabby warned and went back in his office

Mia was satisfied no matter how harsh Gabby was to her, at least she got them to agree to make another version of the magazine without Amy's photo inside!

Amy was listening to the conversation earlier. She didn't intend to, she just happens to have come out of the comfort room and she will be passing the lobby to get back to her office, but instead of going to the office she went in the editing room

"Are we really going to make another version of the magazine?" Amy asked Leah, the girl she met the first time she came to this studio

"I guess. Gosh that Mia girl gives me headaches. First, she didn't arrive last time, then she causes trouble when we are going to release the magazine, and then now she dares to demand a new one?"
Leah complained and the other staff in the room agreed with her

"Yeah, like how are we going to do that? This magazine was already sold out everywhere, how would the second version do that if they are just the same?" Carl asked, one of the editors

"It won't be the same and I'm sure it will surpass the rates of this first one"

"Gabby!" all of the staff was surprised when he suddenly came in and joined their conversation

"What do you mean? And why did you even agree with her?" Amy confusedly asked what was Gabby thinking about

"We will make a version her fans wanted it to be" Gabby simply said and explained to Carl what he must do

All of them liked what Gabby had thought of, besides, it's not Mia they should satisfy but they should satisfy their audience

Mia went home happy 

Seeing her smiling from ear to ear, William asked what did she do "I just convinced the boss of Snap! to remove Amy's picture" Mia proudly said

"Are you sure about that? They are not stupid to release the same magazine again, the change is only a tiny detail" William is worried about what will happen this time will also not be as Mia expected

"They must keep their word! Gabriel did say he will make another version of it" Mia said. She thinks William is just overthinking things, she is good at negotiating things, Mia is very sure that the next batch of magazines the stores will display in their stands is the new version where Amy's photo will not be found inside!

Ally went home disappointed

"What's wrong with you?" Carol asked seeing Ally sulk on the couch and kicking the floor to push herself up

"Mia George had a new magazine where she is in the front cover. Based on the discussions online, Amy was also in that magazine. I really wanted a copy of the magazine but it is already sold out!" Ally explained and continued kicking the floor

"What did you say?" Carol could not believe what she heard. Amy was in the magazine?

"I said, Mia George had a new magazine and it's sold out!" Ally repeated what she said. At this time Carol just noticed her daughter was drunk

"Not that! About Amy, and why are you drunk?" Carol asked again

"Oh, because... My brainless, stupid, abandoned sister... is in a magazine!" Ally was drunk after finding out Amy got a page in the most awaited magazine easily while she had not even appeared in any important articles other than the news about her being a boy. Ally was not thinking right so she is releasing her anger by throwing pillows... to her mother!

"Hey! Stop that, you little drunk idiot!" Carol called the maids to bring Ally up her room and get her back to her original state

Amy is in a magazine? What could have that woman did to appear in those? Carol would also want to buy that magazine to just tear the picture every time she is angry at Amy

...

Everyone that hated Amy wants her picture out of the magazine, while Mia's fans and others who bought the magazine compared the two women's picture and wanted to know what it would look like for Amy's photo to be the cover

At first, when they found out Amy stole Mia's front cover, they wan to teach Amy a lesson to know her place and that she is a nobody to modeling, and now they think Amy is better than Mia

Well then, Gabby will give them what they wanted!

The timing of the magazine being sold out is just right so they stopped the production for now and publish the batch of the second version of the Snap! magazine tomorrow as a surprise...

But Gabby posted on the site of Snap! a hint, "Because of all the love that our first magazine received, we made a special version of it, I am sure everyone will like this one" with his statement, he posted also a blurred picture of the magazine cover

"Oh my gosh! A special version!"

"I'll make sure to have it!"

The post immediately received so many positive feedback, this will make sure the sales of this second version will exceed the first one

...

"I told you, they will keep their word!" Mia said to William as she read Snap!'s post

"Yes, but the blurred out picture is not like yours..." William pointed out as he looked closely at the picture "They wanted it to be a secret, they could have used a different photo of mine and changed the colors" Mia said, she was getting irritated why William is thinking those negative things? Can't he just be proud that Mia was able to negotiate with Snap!?

...

Ally was now back at her normal state and seeing the post, she was excited she still have a chance to have Mia's magazine!

She'll just have to wait tomorrow and ask her assistant to but it for her before they sold out again

Shameless. Thrown out. Not needed. No one cared about. A MISTAKE!
