Trollogistics looked up at the sunlight glinting off the crystal spires of Chronopolis. The whole place was more than a bit over-done but he supposed you needed at least a few truly fantastical cities in an MMO as big as Otherworld. He just wished he was in the mood to appreciate it.

That bastard mole had really backed him into a corner. Granted, hauling his goods to market had made Troll some decent money but his business had really taken off when he'd started picking up and bringing back cargo for the Hounds along the same route. Now Win Mills had broken into their base and robbed them before bailing. That left him to try and clean up the mess.

"I told you I'd bring the mithril, so I'll bring it. I'm a businessman. We signed a contract I'll uphold it. Just because you and my client are fighting doesn't mean you and I are fighting. You're both my clients and I'll treat both of you equally." Troll said into the voice chat. That last part was a lie, but it sounded good

Win Mills was a gold mine for him and things would only improve in the future. On the other hand the Blood-hounds had just been something he'd picked up on the side to improve his margins. The money was good but he wasn't going to kill the goose to get the eggs.

"No, I've got it right now. I just have to catch a portal back to Kishik. I'll have the goods. The question is if you'll have the money. A ton of mithril ingots isn't exactly the same as barrels of apples." He said.

"Yes, I am doubting you. Rumor mill says you just had all your vaults broken into. So I'm a little worried about your end of the deal." Troll said reasonably. It was a cheapshot but he didn't feel like pulling punches. These guys were pissing him off.

"No I'm not backing out. I'll be there in a few days…. No i don't know where he is and even If I did know I wouldn't tell you." He said sharply before ending the call.

With his main client out of action he had to find himself some real work. Even if this deal went through it was only take him a few days and last time he talked to Win the boy said he was working on a class quest and it might be weeks before he got back to farming.

The halfling walked back towards the wagoner's guild. In a city the size of Chronopolis most of the requests were snatched up instantly but he might be able to find something to occupy him for a while if he was willing to take something long distance. That sounded good to him. All this teleporting around wasn't doing his skills much good. To level he needed to be on the open road.

Troll walked up to the counter and looked over the board of requests.  Most were simple package deliveries or low-margin hauling jobs from various NPC's. A few were bulk transport requests from guilds who wanted goods moved from one warehouse to another or back to their guild-halls. Nothing high-value, just the stuff they were willing to risk on an unknown driver. Then he saw a crumpled and blood-stained parchment stuck to the side of the board and hidden by a request to haul 40 bolts of wool across the city. As soon as his hand touched the paper his interface flashed.

Trollogistics started at the pop-up as he ran the numbers in his head. The gold rewards would be pretty marginal after he bought the swords and armor. Even if he bought the cheapest crap he could find it would still cost him 5 or 6 thousand gold. The time was more of a problem. He still had to get this mirthil back to the Hounds and that would take 3-4 days. It would make things tight but that big of an XP reward, as well as whatever else he'd get was hard to pass up.

He nodded as he gave the mental accept command then turned and headed back out into the guild's courtyard. He needed to get moving.

Winston rode his camel, Jeffrey, into the Riverlands. He regretted buying the mount. It had been an impulse decision but the camel was much faster than walking even if it wasn't at all suited to the rolling grasslands and streams he was in. Still, the animal was docile enough and the sun was shining so it wasn't as if Winston was having problems.

No, he was honestly just lost. Without a farm to get back to and with his only real game objective being a quest he didn't have to complete for three levels he just didn't know what to do with himself. He was supposed to find a dungeon but each zone in otherworld was large, at least 100 square miles and that was some of the smaller ones. Riverlands was closer to 700 sq miles. Finding a dungeon would likely take weeks, or even longer without a specific quest to guide him there, but Winston's quest only mentioned the zone, not the location.He supposed he'd have to hunt for quest info in the most time honored MMO fashion. He'd have to hit a tavern.

Winston followed the road and found a small farm village. The village was little more than a dozen small wooden houses and an inn. A Guild had set-up a guild-hall just outside the city but it looked more like a large manor-house than a keep or defensible structure. Winston rode by it and took his camel up to the inn and slid off its back. He stumbled around for awhile as his legs worked out the kinks. Then he tied Jeffery to the hitching post outside like he was a normal horse and walked into the bar.

The time in West-Empire seemed to mostly line-up with the RL so it was close to dinner time in game and the bar was at least half-full of people eating and drinking. They were all NPC's. Mostly human farmers in rough homespun and a black-smith with soot stains and burns in his shirt and beard. Winston found himself an empty table, ordered some stew and cider, and listened to the NPC's chat.

The food was good and he got a few lines on quests. Orcs near the road to Green's Pasture, wolves killing the cattle. All bog-standard quest hooks that Winston knew he could get just by asking but he wasn't a fighter and killing orcs and wolves didn't sound very fun. Winston gave up and logged out for dinner. 

When he got back in the game the inn had mostly cleared out, leaving a few of the most persistent drinkers. Winston sighed and left as well. Seemed he'd have to try his luck somewhere else. The sun-light was starting to fail as re-mounted. He could have just bought a room in the inn but he'd just sleep in the woods. He'd re-summon Bog and let her watch over his body as he got some sleep.

As he left the town he passed the guild-house again and saw a tiny elf-woman swinging a scythe at a small patch of what. Winston's eyes went up. He'd never seen another player farming before but with her fancy mage-robes she couldn't be an NPC. Winston rode closer and he hot a better look at her. She was short, with short blonde hair covering her pointed ears and disheveled appearance. She was wearing some sort of mage-robe but it was dirty and sweat streaked and she had a dab of mud on the end of her nose. She was kind of adorable.

"Problems?" Winston asked with a laugh.

She looked up at him and was startled for a moment before she scowled at him. That made her small delicate face even more adorable and Winston had to remind himself he had a girlfriend. Not to mention this was only her in-game appearance. She was probably a middle-aged housewife with three kids. 

"What do you want? I'm trying to work here." She said. Winston could see that. He could also see the girl had no idea what she was doing. Her form was terrible and she wasn't accomplishing much other than exhausting herself.

Winston shrugged from his spot wedged between his camel's humps. "Was just find a place to log for the night when I saw you out here working. Just thought I'd see what you were up to. What do you need the wheat for?" He asked.

She sighed, as if answering his question would somehow make her situation worse. "I'm a chief and I specialized in pastries. I need tons of flour to practice and bake with but its ridiculously expensive and that's if you can find any at all. So I thought I'd go direct to the source and grow my own. I mean farming is a skill too and it can't be that hard right?" She said bitterly.

"How much wheat do you need? You could hire me for a day or two. Wheat's only a 12 hour growth cycle." Winston offered.

The girl raised an eyebrow. "Look kid, you're a little young if your trying to help a damsel in distress to get closer to me." 

Winston shot her a sardonic grin. "I figured as much myself. Besides, I've got a girl and she'd have my heart between two pieces of bread if she thought I was hitting on an elf in game. No, I'm looking for a dungeon in this zone for a class quest so I'm going to be here for a while and I've got a fairly high farming skill. So It'll give me something to do while I stumble around the zone looking for the dungeon."

The girl, or woman, didn't look completely convinced. So Winston slipped off his camel and dug out his staff. He raised it and called out. 

"Summon Farmhand!" Light swirled as stamina, magic, and faith poured out of him and coalesced into a scarecrow golem. Winston pointed at the elf. "Grab her scythe and finish harvesting this field. He commanded.  The woman jumped a little as the golem walked up to her and held its arms out. She handed over the tool and stepped back as the scarecrow started in on the wheat with the precise mechanical motions of an automaton.

Winston walked over to her. "See, this is much easier on everyone already. Now we can let my golem work while we hammer out a deal." He said a bit smugly. He didn't have a great deal of confidence when it came to Otherworld in general but he had absolute faith in his farming.

"I see.." She said wryly. "How much is this help going to cost me."

Winston shrugged. "Again, it depends on how much flour you need. I mean, realistically I could probably do almost 500 bushel of wheat a week, but unless you're making scones for the entire zone, no-one needs that much wheat." 

"You can grow 500 bushles of wheat..In a week? Then why the hell is it so expensive?" She asked with wide eyes.

"Because no one farms and cooking is a pretty popular profession." Winston said.

"How am I supposed to pay you when you could make thousands of gold a week. I can't afford that." She said.

"And I can't sit here farming all day everyday. I've got school and I'm doing a quest. Let's say you want… 200 bushel of wheat.  That's worth what…. 2000 gold on the market. You pay me 1000 up front and I'll get you enough wheat to last a month or more." She opened her mouth to object but Winston talked over her. "Yes 1000 gold is a lot of gold for a casual player, but if your a decent chef you can make it back easily. Besides I'm nearly Practiced in farming. The wheat I grow will all be high-quality and some might even hit superior. Your not just getting a good deal. That's practically a steal." 

That made her wairy again. "Superior quality wheat is worth hundreds of gold a bushel. You sure your not after me?" She asked.

Winston rolled his eyes. "I just want to do some casual farming while I look around for a dungeon. I'll admit your porcelain elf look is adorable but I prefer women with a little meat on their bones, no offence."

That seemed to be the wrong thing to say and her face darkened in anger but it hadn't been enough to sour the deal apparently. Not surprising with how badly he was getting screwed but that was fine. He wasn't here to farm for real. He could do that once he had his new class.

When given a chance to join one of the top guilds of the VRMMO Otherworld Winston jumps at the chance. 

However, he soon finds out that when they hired him as a guild farmer they weren't talking about killing goblins. 

Forced into working fields for the next three months Winston decides to make the most of it. 

Watch as he becomes the greatest farmer in Otherworld.



AN:  I'm looking at 1 update a week. My chapters are  long. Usually in the 3-5k word range. 

I should be able to keep the chapter quality up at that rate, without tossing in a bunch of pointless filler while I figure out how I want to move the story along.

5 years on, and things does not look good for the 'Happy Tree Farm'.

A young man with short black hair and normal glasses with black rim sat in front of a desk with worried looks.

Alten looked at the two stacks of paper on his desk. The stack on the left consist of bank loans in arrears, with warning letter and foreclosure notices. "Dear Happy Tree Farm, you are 3 months in arrears, please pay promptly" was the title for most of the letter. The stack on the right looks more sinister as they are from loan sharks demanding payment with title like "Alten Lee, pay up now or die!" written in red. Alten wondered if it was written in blood.

"Probably red ink. Haiz." sighed Alten as he took out his eyeglasses and start wiping it in despair while thinking about the past.

Alten had always loved farming. He spent hundreds of hours playing Farmville on Facebook. He spent thousands hours more playing the old PS One farming game called Harvest Moon. Even now, he is playing the MMO game called World of Farmcraft. Since childhood, he had always visited his grandfather's farm during holidays and helped out.

However, farming in game is different from farming in real world as he regretfully found out. For example, in game all you need to do to farm is select seed to plant, then click on the soil, and wait a few minutes, and then you can harvest the crops. In real life however, you need to do a balancing act of adding fertilizer and watering frequently every day, and even then the crops may fail due to insect infestation.

5 years ago, his grandfather had suddenly called him back to visit him in his farm in the countryside. Alten loved the farm life and always visited the farm every chance he got back then. He took a couple of days leave from work, and left for his grandfather's farm. When he arrived at the farm during the weekend morning, his grandfather passed him the deed to the farm and said "do as you wish".

"Grandpa, what's this?"

"I'm retiring, this old bone is too old to continue working on this farm here. Since you're my only relative, I'll just pass it to you. You can do whatever you want with it. Work it, rent it out, sell it.... I'll be going on a cruise ship for old people, heh heh".

Alten looked over the deed and sat in thought for a long time. His grandfather kept busy packing and had conversation with Alten from time to time. A whole day and night passed, and Alten hardly slept a wink. In the morning, Alten went to the kitchen to eat breakfast and saw his grandfather looking dandy with a packed suitcase at his side.

"Well, I guess this is goodbye. I hope you'll do the right choice."

"En! I'll takeover this farm grandpa, and make you proud!"

"Good lad, good lad, heh heh"

A horn toot sounded from outside, and his grandfather picked up his suitcase walked towards the door.

"Well, that's my my Uber, good luck with the farm kid."

With a wistful look his grandfather walked out and stopped at the car. He gave the farm a last long look, before turning and driving off to the port. Alten waved for a bit, and then when the car is out of sight he took out his phone and called his boss.

"Boss, I'm quitting, I'll be giving my 3 months notice letter as soon as I get back to office..."

5 years ago, Alten used to work as a programmer at a large bank. The pay was decent, and the work hours was tolerable. However, he always felt uneasy inside, for though he is a decent programmer, his passion lay elsewhere, specifically farming.

"If given a chance to follow my passion, I really should take it", thought Alten.
 
5 years later, Alten's life is a total mess. 'Happy Tree Farm' used to be a real productive farm when his grandfather were still working it. Everything was working and shiny brand new. Nowadays, the farm has a lot of broken tools and in need of serious repairs. There were so many things that he didn't know about real world farming, he really regretted the decision he made 5 years ago. 

Initially he took out a large loan to buy and repair the tools, machinery, and seeds. The seeds germinated sporadically, and the machine kept breaking down. He was already in the red by the time the second year came around. This is the time when he made another big mistake. Running low on funds, he decided to take out loans from the loan sharks at exorbitant interest rate. Things did not improve though, and expenses kept increasing with every bad weather or machine breakdown.

"Argh! Not again!"

The 'Amazone ED 3000 C' planter that he bought second hand had become stuck. He stopped his tractor, got down and went to the back to look at the planter hitched to the back of his tractor. He scratched his jaw and thought for a while.

"Ah, screw it! I'll get Dan to come over and look at it later, sigh". Dan is the local farm mechanic Alten made friend with since childhood.

He unhitched the planter and drove the tractor back to house. He went into the kitchen and got a can of beer, and decided to unwind the stress by playing World of Farmcraft. He turned on his computer, but even though the CPU light up and started having sound, the monitor is still black. He suddenly got up and tried to reach the monitor cord, but his hand accidentally spill the beer all over the CPU.

"AAAIIIEEEEEE!" Alten screamed as a purple electricity suddenly envelops Alten and his computer, which exploded in a exploding puff of smoke...

Alten wake up with a splitting headache.

"Urgh... what happened? Why am I outside?"

As he looked around he saw that he seems to be outside of the farmhouse and he suffered no injury.

"Wait, why are there mountain ranges to the north? And where did this pine forest to the east come from?! And... is that the sun? Triple sun?!!! And why is that group of birds flying overhead looks like they could each be bigger than a 737 jumbo jet?!!!!!"

Shocked and wonder filled the confused mind of Alten. He did a double and triple take for a few minutes. Suddenly, Alten hears a slight cough and somebody trying to clear his throat. Alten turned and look at the sound and was shocked; standing at the entrance to the farmhouse was an old looking green person with long ears and mean face.

A goblin! The old looking creature definitely looked like a goblin, Alten surmised from his experience playing fantasy RPG game.

The creature spoke.

"Err, hello human. I'm Thak. I'm a goblin."

Holy shit! It really IS a goblin!

I don't wanna get eaten!

"I have a farm in a different world but instead of normal livestock like chicken or pigs I raised monsters like dragon and wyvern for sale"

This is a story about a guy who transmigrated to another world. He have a monster farming system. He started off as a weak newbie, totally clueless, bullied all the time, but by the end of the story he will be OP, whatever that means.  :D

"Are these the friends you mentioned?" The man obviously did not want to talk about how he ended up in prison as he immediately changed the topic.
"Yes, let me introduce you to them." Brother Assist first introduced his mercenary mates. Given how famous each of them was, any gamer would feel the need to express their shock when each of their names was mentioned, and this man was no exception. Even Oathless Sword learned something new from this introduction. He got to learn that Young Master Han was actually Drinking Addict, the legendary strategist that had always accompanied Sword Demon in many MMOs. Oathless Sword could not help but be surprised once more, since he was also a renowned expert by his right.
Brother Assist proceeded to introduce Oathless Sword and Gale Force after the four. In comparison, Gale Force and Oathless Sword were mere landlords of a small village. Compared to the identities of Sword Demon, Royal God Call, and the rest, who were the equivalent of famous martial arts families[1], such as Nangong, Ximen, Beigong, or Dongfang, that were well-respected throughout the land, these two's names were barely worth remembering.
Finally, Brother Assist introduced everyone to the man currently stuck in a cell without much fanfare. "This is my friend. All of you should've heard of his IGN, Southern Lone Blade."
The ensuing reaction encapsulated the difference between the famed martial families and landlords.
When the four great experts heard that this man was one of the Five Unyielding Experts, all of them merely hummed, "Oh", largely nonchalant of the fact that they were now able to put a face to the name.
Oathless Sword, on the other hand, looked so excited that he might just undress himself and jump into the dungeon to commiserate with the man over his misfortune. Career experts like him loved to rub shoulders with all sorts of MMO experts. Why else would he think of following Young Master's Elite when he heard that they were off to visit someone?
Upon learning that this man was actually one of the esteemed Five Unyielding Experts, Oathless Sword had an even stronger wish to inveigle and befriend this person. Although he knew deep down that Southern Lone Blade might already have quite the substantial achievements here in Linshui City and inviting him to Yunduan City would be nigh impossible, he still thought that it was a good idea to make his acquaintance. Who knew if an opportunity to form a sort of 28 Guild Alliance might come one day? And even if they might not have any opportunities to cooperate with one another in the future, he could at least still brag to others over a couple of drinks that he was pretty chummy with an Unyielding Expert. There was plenty of value in that as well!
With that thought in his mind, Oathless Sword quickly squatted down and tried his best to reach his arm for a handshake with the man.
Southern Lone Blade was pretty gracious himself. Although he was in discomfort standing in the water like that, he did not snob his proffered hand. He even apologetically said, "Sorry about my wet hand."
"It'll dry after a shake of hands!" Oathless Sword gripped that hand tightly, almost lifting Southern Lone Blade up.
"There's something that I need your help with this time," Oathless Sword went straight to the point and was ready to let this man whom he just met know about his quest. This largely stemmed from his clear understanding on how to deal and interact with other people. Southern Lone Blade would find it somewhat difficult to reject his request when in front of Brother Assist and the others, who would naturally help him convince this expert to aid them. There was no guarantee that this man would lend a helping hand if Oathless Sword sought him privately later.
Southern Lone Blade was wondering why the man was so enthusiastic in greeting him, but he immediately understood the reason behind this when the man said that he had a request to make. Thus, without further questions, he promptly nodded his head. "Speak freely. Was your equipment stolen? We need to act quickly if that's the case."
"Uhm… What are you talking about?" Oathless Sword was starting to doubt his ears, as Southern Lone Blade's words seemed entirely irrelevant to his plight.
"So your equipment wasn't stolen? There's no rush, then. How much money did they take from you? I'll return you the sum if I have enough on me," Southern Lone Blade said.
Oathless Sword floundered in his cluelessness. He turned to regard Brother Assist with a look of puzzlement even as his grip on Southern Lone Blade's hand loosened slightly.
With furrowed brows, Brother Assist asked on Oathless Sword's behalf, "What are you talking about?"
Southern Lone Blade froze up. Glancing at Oathless Sword, he gingerly asked, "So… You didn't get robbed while you were being ferried over?"
"Robbed? No!" Oathless Sword shook his head vigorously.
"Ahem! In that case, let's just forget what I just said." Southern Lone Blade coughed.
The others already had an inkling of what he was talking about, though. Sword Demon knitted his brows and asked, "What do you do for a living?"
"I… I'm a professional gamer." Southern Lone Blade lifted his head to look Sword Demon straight in the eye. Sword Demon was a famous MMO expert, so any player who bothered to research him would know about his personality. Southern Lone Blade was aware of Sword Demon being an upright and righteous leader in many MMOs in the past, which was rare among gamers. While he was not one to hate people who did despicable acts, Southern Lone Blade would not put it past this man to reject any association with players doing unscrupulous activities.
Everyone got clued in on the fact that Southern Lone Blade firmly fell into this grey area from his momentary loss of confidence in his words. He might be a professional gamer, but the business he was involved with was most likely a shady one.
Strictly speaking, this act of farming other players for equipment was not a foreign sight in MMOs. Now that the gaming industry had developed into the various aspects of profession, production, and organization, the lucrativity of these businesses had also allowed the dark side of gaming to flourish.
Most gamers did not really care much about this matter as long as they were not the victims themselves. Some might even seek to befriend such people so as to prevent themselves from becoming their targets.
MMOs were never breeding grounds for noble and righteous heroes. Even someone as upright as Sword Demon would probably not be too displeased meeting such scoundrels were he not a victim of their predation in Parallel World.
Figurative sparks had already come alive from that stare Southern Lone Blade and Sword Demon shared, but Brother Assist was quick to smooth things out. With a hand across Oathless Sword's shoulder, he laughed loudly. "We're passing by while on a mission. This friend right here is the guild leader who hired us. Since you're familiar with the lay of the land here, he is hoping that you may be able to lend us a hand." During his introduction before, Brother Assist only mentioned everyone's name, so Southern Lone Blade did not know of the position Oathless Sword held.
"Oh, that's why you're here!" Southern Lone Blade was quick on the uptake and shifted his gaze from that staring contest as he once more looked straight at Oathless Sword. "That's no problem. We'll make contact once I'm out of here. Do not hesitate to ask for my help."
"Thank you very much!" Oathless Sword was precisely the sort that cared not for the goodness of any player. As long as the said people were not having any designs on himself or his guild, they could easily become friends. Oathless Sword would even become sworn brothers with Southern Lone Blade now that he was willing to lend him a hand.
"Oh, yes. Didn't you say that you have a juggernaut of a man to introduce me to? It's not any of these guys, is it?" Brother Assist had only introduced the six men by their names. He knew who Young Master Han was the moment he mentioned the moniker 'Drinking Addict'. Seeing how Brother Assist introduced everyone equally, it was clear that none of them was the special guest he was expecting.
"Heh..." Brother Assist laughed dryly. "You may have already met that person."
"Eh?" Southern Lone Blade was confused.
"He's the Video Mage," Brother Assist confessed.
"That guy who caused me to be sent into prison?" Southern Lone Blade was very agitated. The sound of the stirring water was proof of this.
"I'm afraid so." Brother Assist glanced at his companions, and everyone agreed with his assessment.
"Let's put it behind us since we're all friends." Brother Assist began to appeal for Gu Fei.
"Mhm!" Southern Lone Blade hummed in the affirmative. Everyone was quite surprised to see him agree so easily.
"In that case, we'll be leaving. We'll discuss the matter further after you're out. How long are you in for?" Brother Assist asked.
"Four hours," Southern Lone Blade answered.
"Alright, we'll take our leave first, then." Brother Assist was prepared to lead everyone away. Sword Demon turned out to be the quickest to leave without a hint of hesitation. Brother Assist was actually worried something unpleasant might happen if they stayed any longer, so he hurriedly expressed his wish to leave. Oathless Sword was the only one who showed any sort of reluctance. Nevertheless, since everyone he knew was about to leave, it would be far too shameless for him to stay here with this man that he just met.
"Guild Leader Oathless, you don't mind talking to him alone about your guild's quest, right?" Brother Assist asked Oathless Sword the moment they stepped out of the prison.
"Yeah, no problem. Thanks!" Oathless Sword nodded his head with appreciation.
"Oh and… He's a standard professional gamer, so if he thinks that the matter is somewhat difficult to accomplish, he may seek payment for his services. I can't really help you on that end, either; after all, a man has to eat! I hope you won't mind!" Brother Assist added.
"I understand perfectly. It's no problem!" Oathless Sword did not seem to mind this in the least.
"That's all for now, then!" Brother Assist bid Oathless Sword farewell for the other members of Young Master's Elite.
Sword Demon's expression was still somewhat conflicted, finally asking Brother Assist after the five of them walked quite a distance. "Just what exactly does your friend do, anyway?"
Brother Assist seemed to have already anticipated this question. "All I know is that he has always been a professional gamer. I have no idea this is the particular scope of work he is doing here in Parallel World."
There were plenty of professional gamers out there; there were the hardworking gold farmers, the more capable sellswords, and the business-attuned individuals that focused on trades and resale… Some focused on one aspect of the business, while others did them all. These were considered to be the more honest forms of professional gaming. Inventory di Free World Online tidaklah memiliki batas layaknya beberapa game MMO lainnya. Hal itulah yang membuat orang-orang terkadang lupa kalau ternyata mereka sudah memiliki item tersebut, tapi masih terus mencari. Bahkan terkadang ada beberapa orang yang tidak sengaja menyimpan seluruh item-nya, karena lupa. Maksudku, beberapa orang itu termasuk aku sendiri.

Nana berjalan mendekatiku sambil menyimpan tombak emasnya. "Aku rasa sudah cukup."

Aku mengangguk, "Aku hanya butuh lima, jadi sisanya aku berikan padamu."

"Eh?" Wajah terkejut Nana benar-benar membuatku ingin tertawa, tapi aku harus menahannya karena itu tidaklah sopan.

"Iya," Aku melanjutkan. "Lagian aku juga tidak akan mengupgrade senjataku."

"Te-Terima kasih, Hiro."

Jarak kami hanya sekitar satu meter.

Kami sama-sama membuka sistem menu kami. Nana mengklik menu terima dari Hiro, sedangkan aku mengklik kirim ke Nana.

Saat aku melihat jumlah adamantite panas yang aku dapatkan, ternyata jumlahnya lebih banyak dari yang aku kira. Seratus lima puluh.

"Ada apa?" Tanya Nana.

Aku rasa dia memperhatikan ekspresi terkejutku, yang aku yakin terlihat sangat konyol dan juga menjijikan.

Aku menggeleng, "Tidak ada."

Aku menyisakan lima adamantite panas, dan memberikan sisanya pada Nana.

Nana tersenyum senang saat menerima item adamantite panas itu dariku. Karena jika seluruhnya di jumlahkan, Nana mendapatkan kurang lebih tiga ratus adamantite panas yang aku yakin itu akan lebih dari cukup untuk memperkuat tombak emas miliknya.

Aku rasa sekarang lah saatnya bagiku untuk menyebut senjata milik Nana adalah tombak dewa emas.

"Kalau begitu," Nana menutup menunya dan manatapku. "Sekarang kita selesaikan quest-mu, Hiro."

Aku mengangguk, "Baiklah, ayo berangkat."

Nana mengangguk semangat, "Iya!"

Pandai besi di lantai satu.

Dalam jarak beberapa puluh meter, aku bisa melihat Eliz yang duduk di depan toko pandai besi itu. Dia membenamkan wajahnya pada kedua kakinya.

Dia bahkan tidak sadar saat aku dan Nana berdiri di depannya.

"Eliz!" Panggilku.

Eliz perlahan mengangkat wajahnya. Dan saat dia melihatku, dia langsung berdiri dan menggenggam kerah bajuku. "Kenapa lama sekali, Hiro?!"

"Maaf."

Lalu mata Eliz melirik ke arah Nana, dan dengan cepat Eliz mundur sampai punggungnya menabrak tembok toko pandai besi di belakangnya.

"Ke-Kenapa si atlet coklat bisa ada di sini?!"

"Jangan panggil aku begitu!"

"Atlet?" Aku melirik ke arah Nana.

"Ah? Iya." Nana menatapku seperti dia malu atau semacamnya. "Aku atlet lari."

Tanpa sengaja, aku melirik ke arah kakinya yang memakai celana pendek. "Oh, pantas."

Nana membungkukan tubuhnya dan menutupi kedua kakinya sebisa mungkin dengan kedua tangannya. "Ja-Jangan melihat kaki-ku seperti itu. Aku memang tidak seksi."

Eliz mengangguk paham, "Iya, kau memang tidak sek-"

"Tidak!" Potongku. "Sebenarnya aku tidak terlalu peduli. Alasanku melihat kaki-mu adalah karena aku teringat saat pertama kali kau menyelematkanku dari Riko. Kau begitu cepat."

"Oh."

"Jadi itu alasanmu bisa secepat itu?"

Nana mengangguk dan mulai berdiri seperti biasanya lagi. "Sebenarnya kecepatanku tidaklah secepat itu, tapi aku rasa sistem FWO menganggap kalau kecepatanku di dunia nyata itu secepat angin di dunia ini."

"Hmm, keren."

"Hiro!" Eliz memegang tangan kiriku dan menggandengnya. "Kau itu suamiku, jadi seharusnya tidaklah wajar jika kau memuji perempuan lain."

"Suami?!" Nada Nana terdengar marah dan aku rasa Nana hampir saja menarik tombak dewa emas-nya.

Eliz mengangguk penuh percaya diri. "Benar sekali! Jadi jauh-jauhlah dari Hiro, etlet coklat!"

Aku melepaskan gandengan tangan Eliz dan berjalan mundur beberapa langkah. "Eliz! Aku rasa kau tidak boleh mengatakan 'atlet coklat' atau sejenisnya! Nana adalah Nana. Dia punya nama."

"Eh?" Eliz terlihat kecewa olehku.

Aku tidak peduli. Apa yang aku katakan tidaklah salah.

"Bagaimana jika ada seseorang yang memanggilmu si aneh pirang? Apa kau akan menyukainya, Eliz?"

Nana tidak mengatakan apapun. Aku tidak tahu ekspresi apa yang Nana tunjukan, karena aku tidak sedang menatap Nana dan hanya fokus pada Eliz yang tertunduk lesu.

"Maaf." Suara Eliz terdengar lirih.

Saat itu juga, sesuatu dalam hatiku seperti tertusuk sesuatu.

"Maaf." Kataku. "Bukan maksudku-"

Eliz menggeleng lemah dengan kepalanya masih tertunduk lesu. "Hmm-mmm. Kau benar." Eliz mengangkat wajahnya dan melihatku. "Kau tidak salah, Hiro. Aku hanya cemburu saja."

"Ah? Cem-Cemburu? Ke-Kenapa?"

Eliz tersenyum penuh kehangatan ke arahku. "Iya, karena dari awal aku memang menyukaimu, Hiro."

"Tung-"

Tiba-tiba Nana menengahi kami, "Sudah cukup tentang ini! Bukankah kita harus segera menyelesaikan quest-nya?"

Aku mengangguk ragu, "I-Iya."

Tanpa aku sadar, aku membuka sistem menu-ku, dan menekan tombol Log Out.

Aku selalu menganggap diriku adalah orang yang sangat special, special dalam hal tidak di sukai oleh para gadis.

Mengapa aku berpikir seperti itu? Karena semua itu adalah pengalamanku.

Dari aku SD sampai SMA, aku jarang atau bahkan sama sekali tidak berbicara dengan para gadis, karena aku adalah seorang pengecut yang menyedihkan.

Tubuh gendut dan wajah menjijikan, adalah awal kenapa aku membenci diriku sendiri, karena aku menjijikan.

Aku, membenci diriku sendiri, bahkan saat aku mulai menyukai Hanna di SMA, aku masih membenci diriku sendiri, walau aku sudah tidak menganggap kalau aku masih menjijikan.

Free World Online, adalah game VRMMO pertama yang bertemakan dunia yang bebas tanpa hukum.

Long Shen moved his Angelic star fleet into position cutting off the escaping Demonic fleet. Long Shen knew that in order to get the best payout the entire armada had to be destroyed. It was normally an impossible task to take a fleet of ten cruisers and destroy a much larger well-balanced fleet of Demonic ships but Long Shen had become a master of distributing his fleets in such a way that he minimized losses and maximized firepower. It was because of this that he earned his nickname of the Gold Farming God. He always used small fleets to get the extra bonus points from winning against a larger force and he always used the weakest ships he could afford to use to get the weak over the strong extra bonus. As his fleet finished the stage he watched his score skyrocket giving him enough gold to pay his rent for the month. Long Shen quickly moved his gold to the marketplace and set it for a quick sale before logging off. As he pulled his headgear off he saw that all of his coworkers but one had finished their quotas and logged off. The lone gold farmer was a man slightly older than Long Shen with no legs.

"Fucking demons!" The man angrily threw his headgear toward the wall at an incredible inhuman velocity.

Long Shen stared in awe at the shattered headgear and the hole it put in the solid concrete wall. Long Shen walked over and asked, "Hey, Goa Ge, are you alright?"

"I didn't manage to win a single match, I only made the basic quota. I won't get paid again. Fuck this job, why did they force me into a VRMMO job when they know my nervous system was slowed in the war." He broke down and started to cry. 

Long Shen touched his expensive control ring that activated his contact lens popup interactive VR display. He moved his fingers over the display clicking on the link to his account, he transferred enough gold to Goa Ge's account for him to live for the month. Goa Ge looked up at Long Shen and said, "I wasn't asking you know..."

Long Shen nodded and then said, "I made enough just today for my entire month and I still have enough for next month. You got that injury protecting us from the Demons, it's only right that we help you while you are in need yourself." 

Goa Ge slapped his hand on Long Shen's arm and said, "You are a true brother. I won't forget this, you really saved me." He thought for a minute and then asked, "Hey, would you like to learn a cultivation technique?"

Long Shen chuckled and then said, "Come on man, you know cultivation techniques are only allowed to be shared with your family." 

Goa Ge looked straight into Long Shen's eyes and said in a serious tone, "God Shen, I am the last living member of my family and it's now impossible for me to have a child. My family's technique isn't the best, but it's a real technique and it will die with me if I don't pass it on and I just told you, you are a true brother. You are the only family I have in this world. Besides, it's not like learning the technique is going to make you a warrior, at best you might breakthrough to the first stage and get ripped so girls will think you are hot." He wiped his eyes and chuckled, "Come over to my place, I'll teach you. I'll even make dinner for us." 

Long Shen wasn't sure, he felt like he would be helping his friend break his family tradition. Long Shen had no family himself, he had been raised in an orphanage so he thought of family as something that was as incredible as being incredibly wealthy. He then thought of his own real family, the parents that no one had any knowledge about. Who's to say they weren't part of Goa Ge's family? After thinking it over he rubbed his chin and said, "Ok, but in return, I'll teach you how to beat the game. Since we are true brothers it's important that I help you earn enough to live." 

Goa Ge laughed and said, "Exactly!" He slapped Long Shen on the back happily and said, "Follow me, God Shen, you haven't lived until you tried my ma la tang." 

As they walked Long Shen gave Goa Ge pointers on how to use the fleet system to easily make gold. Goa Ge stared at Long Shen like he was listening to a real Angelic General. Long Shen made doing impossible things in the game sound as easy as sitting comfortably at a casino table rolling loaded dice that never let you lose. As they made it inside Goa Ge's place he said, "God Shen, you make that sound easy, but I don't think I am smart enough to do what you advised. I could never react to the changes the way you do. It would be like me trying to win a game of chess against a grandmaster while using a trick from the virtual network." 

"Hmm, maybe that's why my tutorial was given so many one-star reviews." Long Shen rubbed his chin and then said, "Wait, there is one thing I could teach you. Just make a small fleet of cruisers, like ten, then fight the fleet battle on medium difficulty. It doesn't pay as much as difficult, but you'll grind a few hundred in a day that way. As long as you play five days a week grinding that way you'll get ahead." 

Goa Ge looked skeptical but nodded and said, "I'll try it tomorrow. I don't have anything to lose, I have been getting slaughtered in the Shooter MMO even being a trained soldier. The soup needs half an hour to cook, so let me show you how to cultivate. First, sit on the floor in the lotus position. Palms up." Goa Ge waited for Long Shen to get in position, "Yeah, just like that but palms up, yeah there you go. Ok, next step you need to start taking deep breaths. Big inhale, slow exhale. Just like that. Now you need to say the following line, my blood my bones my soul the dragon awakens." 

Long Shen started to speak the line over and over as he kept his deep breathing going between repetitions, "My blood my bones my soul the dragon awakens." 

Goa Ge rolled up closer to Long Shen and said in a steady voice, "Imagine yourself sitting next to a lake. What do you see?"

Long Shen's imagined a quiet mountain lake, the smell of red pine heavy in the air. The waters of the lake were lightly shimmering in the light of a full moon. In the middle of the lake, a giant red sheet of what looked like rock slowly rotated. As Long Shen watched it a powerful voice said, "Build your puny body. Earn respect on the battlefield. A dragon without respect is no dragon."

Goa Ge said, "Anyway, that's it. You just do that every day and if you are meant to be a cultivator you'll open your Dantian and feel Doa qi."

Long Shen opened his eyes and asked, "How do you know when you breakthrough?"

Goa Ge laughed and said, "You'll have a vision of your lake that is so real you'll feel like you are right there. Then you'll hear your martial soul speak to you and give you advice like, 'a bear needs to be strong. Lift weights' something like that."

Long Shen frowned and then asked, "Do you see things hovering over your lake?"

Goa Ge looked frightened, "Wait, did a voice speak to you? What did it say?"

Long Shen nodded replying, "Build your puny body. Earn respect on the battlefield. A dragon without respect is no dragon."

Goa Ge made a strange face, "Dragon? I have never heard of anyone having a dragon martial soul. Normally you get things like bears, chickens, goats, lions, tigers or oxen. One of my family got the monkey which was pretty rare. Rats are rare too. Your martial soul is what determines the martial arts you can practice. There are a few ancient dragon techniques but most people treat them as bullshit invented by posers without a real martial soul. Maybe you could grab a copy from the library and give it a try." He shrugged helplessly. "Soup is ready, let's eat."

They both ate like starving men making short work of their meal. Goa Ge shook his head chuckling. Long Shen looked at him curiously, "What's so funny?" 

"God Shen, you eat just like a soldier. In the military, you only have minutes to eat and return to duty so all of us veterans eat like we are afraid the food will be gone if we pause." Goa Ge chuckled.

"Oh, well, I grew up in an orphanage. If we didn't finish our meal quickly it was liable to be stolen by an older child. I guess it's a habit I don't really think about. I live alone and don't often socialize." Long Shen shrugged.

Goa Ge nodded and then smiled, "You need to unplug and get out in the world some more. Maybe join a gym, lots of gorgeous girls you can meet there."

The next day Long Shen finished his gold farming early and decided to get a gym membership. The voice told him to build his body, and his new brother Goa Ge described it as a great place to meet girls so it couldn't hurt to start. Long Shen was someone who had only ever done the very basic level of physical fitness in school. He had always been playing VR games in any free time he had. Which was why he decided to become a professional gold farmer after he finished school. He was fairly intimidated as he entered the gym, he was clearly the scrawniest person in the building. He walked up to the registration desk and asked, "Hello, I have never been to a gym before, what do I need to do in order to start?"

A large man turned around and looked him over and snorted a laugh, "Little bro, you need a trainer. You're gonna get killed in here if you try to do this yourself. Here, tell you what, we have a special this month. If you sign up for a six-month membership and pay it in advance, I'll personally show you around and spot you."

Long Shen rubbed his chin in thought and asked, "How much?"

He smirked, "Only five large little bro. In six months you'll look like a man though, so it'll be worth it." 

Long Shen frowned at the cost, that was half a month's rent. He knew he had the money but what if he didn't use the full six months. He seriously contemplated leaving but something deep in his gut told him he needed this more than he needed the money. He sighed and then waved his hand over the pay terminal and watched as his balance dropped. He balled up his fist and then asked, "Where do we start?" 

The big man walked around the corner and waved at him to follow. He thought to himself, 'Yeah little bro, after this session, you'll never be back again and I'll get another free commission.' The big man led him over to a weight bench and said, "Here's where we start little bro, this is a bench press. Just lay down here on the bench. I'll throw on some weight and then you just pick up that bar and raise it up and down over your chest." Long Shen laid down as the trainer smirked and started to put weight on the bar. Looking at Long Shen he figured that if he put one hundred pounds on the bar it would nearly break him so he put another fifty on for good measure.

Long Shen started to breathe the way Goa Ge told him and then recited the cultivation line internally. 'My blood my bones my soul the dragon awakens.' He raised the bar and started to pump the bar up and down over his chest. The Trainer stared at him with a look of disbelief. 

The trainer almost forgot to count he was so dazed by seeing Long Shen able to lift the bar. He finally started to count out loud, "Forty-one, forty-two, forty-three, forty-four, forty-five. Don't quit you're almost there little bro! Fifty!" He took the bar from Long Shen and set in the rack. "Great job little bro, you're stronger than I thought you were. Let's go hit the next machine." 

Long Shen followed behind the trainer and did every exercise that was recommended. He was starting to get a little hungry by the end of the circuit so he spoke up, "Thank you for showing me what to do here. I need to go now, but I'll be back tomorrow. Should I look for you, or just use the machines myself?"

The trainer stared at him like he was a freak of nature. He had never seen anyone do a full circuit of his over the top training they usually quit by the second machine. He mumbled, "Yeah little bro, just go through on your own. If you need my help just ask for me at the desk if I am available."

Long Shen was disappointed in the gym, he didn't realize it was so easy. He decided to push himself when he went the next day. After returning home, Long Shen once again sat in the lotus pose and cultivated the way Goa Ge had taught him. The voice still had no other advice for him so he just sat by the lake watching the giant red rock slowly turn. He lost track of time after a while but was feeling sticky so he got up to shower. He went to bed that night feeling like he hadn't even done any exercise.

The next day an excited Goa Ge rolled up to him as he made his way to work for another day of gold farming. He blurted out, "God Shen, it worked, the strategy you gave me worked. I managed to make twice as much as you thought I would!" 

Another coworker laughed and said, "Gold Farming God Shen's strategies are fucked up. He purposely tells people bad information to cut down on the competition. His tutorial is one star."

Another coworker spoke up, "Remember when he told little Xiang to use an unbalanced fleet and fight against bigger enemy fleets for the bonus? Little Xiang lost an entire week's income. Goa Ge, you should follow the company tutorial to grind. That's the way to make real money. Gold Farming God Shen is abnormal. His strategies need him to work."

Goa Ge flipped off the mouthy coworkers and said, "It worked just fine for me, maybe you guys just suck?"

Grumbling they slipped on their headgear and logged in. Long Shen chuckled and then asked, "Hey brother Ge, I forgot to ask you, what are the cultivation levels and how long should they take?"

Goa Ge rolled closer and then whispered, "You start in the foundation building stage. There are nine levels that start with connecting to your martial soul. That's what we did the other night. Next, you'll slowly cleanse your body of impurities. Do this through hard exercise. You want to add muscle and flexibility. When you hit the second level you'll have the strength of two men. When you hit the third level you'll have the strength of ten men. At the fourth level, you'll have the strength of fifty men. When you reach the fifth level you'll make a huge jump in strength and speed. This is when you'll reach the top of your strength and speed. Everyone is different but most people tend to be near the strength and speed of two to five hundred men. The sixth level you'll start to harden your body. The seventh level you'll start to feel your mind sharpen. The eighth level you'll start to heal quickly. At the ninth level, you'll open meridians that will allow you to reach the next stage, energy gathering. As for how long that takes, I have no idea. No one in my family ever made it to the fifth stage. I made it to the third stage by age twenty-five and then I was drafted by the Angelic to fight as a soldier. My father managed to reach the fourth level, but that was about eighty years. He died in the war. I have no idea how long it would have taken to reach the fifth level, maybe a hundred more years?"

Long Shen looked at Goa Ge Strangely and then asked, "Wait, how long do cultivators live?" 

Goa Ge frowned and then said, "The rumors are that people above the energy gathering stage extend their lives for thousands of years. My father looked forty at eighty years old, as a fourth level foundation stage expert. Cultivators tend to die early though, because of the war. Not everyone is as lucky as me to be injured enough to be sent home. Most soldiers died in their first action. Long Shen, if I was you, I'd just cultivate and not worry about any of that. What happens, happens."

Fourteen billion years in the past the Great Dragon God felt his Trillion-year-old soul begin to dim. Rather than delay his demise for billions of more years he chose to self detonate in the great void spreading his body to create a new Universe built on his own DNA. Chris woke up in utter darkness with a splitting headache.

"What happened last night?" He muttered into the nothingness, reaching a hand out to the dark for the lamp switch next to his bed. He switched on the light and winced against the sudden brightness illuminating the mess around his bed. He glanced around his tiny quarter-split micro-apartment and his mouth tightened into a line. "Oh, right." Chris groggily recalled the night before as he sat up and pulled off the clothes he had fallen asleep in.

He had been up all night playing the popular fantasy MMORPG Vorpal Blades and had finally passed out, fully dressed, just before dawn. Chris glanced at the time on his Core before slipping it off and heading into the bathroom shower attached to his kitchen area. He sighed and stepped into the shower. It was late, and he'd slept almost the entire day away, although this wasn't especially unusual for him. Chris spent a lot of time playing Vorpal Blades, farming the most difficult dungeons for loot that he could then sell on RogueNet, the legal MMO item exchange website. He didn't make a lot of money but he'd been doing it for several years now and since he was pretty good at it, it was enough to pay his bills.

The lights flickered to life as Chris moved from the shower to his bed a few feet away, toweling himself off. The apartment was very small, essentially a single room with a bathroom duct-taped to one side. Housing throughout the city was becoming more and more scarce, and home owners had started to take advantage of this by putting up extra walls to build quarter-splits. Splitting a single moderately sized apartment up into four micro-apartments. The bed, kitchenette, and a living room sofa all took up the same single space.

Chris pulled on some clean clothes and waved his hand over his old and battered personal pedestal. A semi-transparent digital keyboard flickered into life and a digital screen hovered above it. Chris started tapping away at the keyboard, flipping back and forth between several windows. Many of them were filled with columns of item names and prices - loot from Vorpal Blades that Chris was selling on RogueNet. Though even more of the rows were simple listings for large amounts of gold.

Chris transferred the money that he earned from the website into his bank account and his mouth tightened as he checked his total balance. "Barely enough to pay for the electrical this month," he said finally, closing out most of the open windows on the screen and leaned back in his chair. "But what else is new."

A knock at the door interrupted Chris's moment of self-reflection.

"Hello?" He called out while moving towards the door.

A female voice called out through the door. "Chris! Hey, it's me!"

Chris pulled the door open and was immediately swept up in a hug. "Oh!" He smiled and gently unwrapped his sister's arms from his neck. "It's nice to see you too."

Lily laughed and walked past her brother into the kitchen area. "I can't stay for a long, I have to go meet some friends." She pulled open a cupboard and peered inside, then pulled out a box of cereal. "I actually have a favor to ask though." She popped open the top of the cereal and shoved a handful of the crunchy food into her mouth.

"Money?" Chris tried not to let the disappointment hang on his face. He was starting to get used to these visits, and Lily barely even made small-talk anymore before asking for cash. "Lily you know I barely have enough to pay rent these days."

"Really? Well I don't need much, just a few thousand. I kinda borrowed some money from a guy and it's not really that big of a deal, but i know he owes another guy and if my marker goes up the chain it might get… well, maybe kinda ugly."

"Is this…" Chris pulled the cereal box from Lily's hands and noticed the way she immediately grabbed her wrist, rubbing the tendons lightly. "Lily is this for Sarcoline? I thought you were done with that stuff. Is that why you're so cool right now? Are you high?"

"What, no! I'm totally done with that. No, I just made a bad bet. I thought it was a sure thing but it kinda went sideways. I'm not taking anything, I'm totally clean."

"I suppose this guy won't take credits?"

"Yeah, only cash. You know how these people are."

"I don't really have cash around. Especially not that much. If you can wait a few days that new game I told you about, Awaken Online, is coming out. The first few days of a new game are always the best for me to sell stuff. The other people who are just starting out are always willing to pay for a little boost to get ahead."

"I still can't believe you make money doing this. It's kinda ridiculous that you can play video games for a living."

"I mean, it's not really much of a living," he laughed and gestured around himself at the tiny, dingy apartment."

Lily smiled softly. "It's better than living on the streets," she replied under her breath, then looked up and put on a bigger smile, "Hey, this place isn't so bad!"

"Oh, I want to show you something before you go." Chris sat down on the floor and pulled forth a small grey box attached to his old pedestal by a handful of wires running into the base. "Speaking of bets, I won this last week. It doesn't look like much, and I never actually expected it to work, but this little guy should be pulling in around a grand every month for us."

"Really?" Lily's eyes lit up. "Is this another one of your gaming things?"

"Sort of. It's running a modified version of the Vorpal Blades game client, with a bunch of scripts and programs running so it automatically farms the in-game gold and then sends it to a different character that I control. Then I sell the gold on RogueNet."

"It's that legal? I mean I know you're allowed to sell gold and items on that site, but I thought running those automatic systems was outlawed."

"Yeah, it was. This thing is totally illegal, but it's such old tech that it's much harder to trace on the modern network. I honestly don't even know how this machine is still running. And it's got all sorts of.. I don't know. Subroutines I guess? There's a bunch of software to make it undetectable. You know I'm not an engineer, I don't know anything about how these things work, but it's definitely working. I've had it running for a few days now and it's solid. It's not very much, but it's making money."

"Chris, that's awesome!"

"Yeah, so between this and whatever I can get in the first week of Awaken Online, I think we should be able to cover this debt that you owe."

"Yeah. About that. I better get going, I'm gonna be late." She scratched absently at her wrist and headed toward the door.

"Lily, wait." Chris grabbed a jar from the kitchen and pulled out a handful of bills. "I don't keep very much cash around, but here."

"Chris, it's..." Lily frowned for a moment and hesitated, before finally taking the money from his hand. "Thanks. I really appreciate everything you do for me." Lily forced a smiled and closed the door behind her.

Awaken Online begins with the brutal slaughter of a simple warrior named Chris. This is his story.

In the early light of dawn as Dark Ember was just about to leave the popular MMO "Dragons Crown" he received a message from a player named Time Breaker. The message read "Dark Ember I have a plan for you all I need is for you to accept the challenge". Dark Ember looked at the message for a moment and thought about what idiot would message something so stupid to him, he then replied with "Sure I'll accept this so called challenge", typing it jokingly. Suddenly he passed out in his gaming cabin before he even knew what was happening.

The next morning John woke up in his bed and he remembered the night before. he jumped out of bed to login to Dragons Crown but noticed his cabin was gone so was everything that he kept in his special room for his complete setup. He then looked around and noticed where he was, he was in his house form when he was only 16 and Dragons Crown was just being released in 4 days. He started to panicking and asked "What the hell is going on why am I in my old room," he then looked into his mirror and almost fainted from shock he then said "Why do I look like I did when I was 16."

Realization suddenly hit him as he remembered the mysterious message from the player named Time Wanderer and his special plan and challenge that he had messaged him. John suddenly turned a deathly pale as he realized he had been sent back 14 years in his life. He then smiled realizing his journey to becoming the most amazing Dragons Crown player had just begun. Like many other games Dragons crown was a popular MMO RPG that had guilds and all the things a regular MMO would have; however, the currency in the game could be traded in the virtual market for credits which had become the whole worlds currency. Dragons Crown was an MMO that stood above all the rest in terms of difficulty in leveling and was also the most unique full dive game to come out in the last 3 decades it was truly a world changing game. 

John realized he already had 11 years of experience into the game and that, even though he started late in the game before, he had an 11 year advantage on everyone else. This was his chance to make it big and to truly become a god among players. He knew that he was going to change the world that he knew so well that it was like looking at the back of his hand. He also knew that he could conquer Dragons Crown and become the first player to ever reach the status of Dragon King. Even in all 14 years of  Dragons Crown being released not a single person had even come close to becoming the Dragon King. The story line and quest that you had to follow were almost endless and even if you did reach the point where you could become the Dragon King it was near impossible to beat the NPC. Being able to become the Dragon King required you to kill the NPC that was the current King. Not only was he already incredibly powerful but he technically was a cheat in the actual game system. The NPC was technically an A.I. that almost never used the same attack twice and was above the highest tier you could become at tier 11. It also had unbelievably strong A.O.E attacks that could decimate armies in a blink of on eye. Not only were its A.O.E attacks unbelievable but its regular skills could still kill multiple people if they weren't careful.Tier 10 players where almost never seen in his old life and the ones that where known numbered only a measly 4 and they where called the Godly 4. They where no ordinary players and even with 10 or even 20 tier 9 players taking down even one of the Godly 4 was almost impossible. Their actual names in the game where the Priest Light Bringer, the Necromancer Death Walker, the Berserker Dragons Wrath, and the greatest of the 4 the Swordsman Angels fire who was capable of taking on all three of the other Godly 4 at once. John then thought "this time it will be the godly 5," then rushed downstairs and grabbed all of the money he remembered he had to go buy a full dive helmet for 5,000 credits.

As he was heading out he remembered that since he had been reincarnated as a younger self his mother was alive. In his original life she had died in a freak airplane accident that killed everyone on the plane over the Caribbean. His eyes started tearing up as he realized he could see her again and ran back into the house calling for his mother. When he found her he gave her a hug full of emotion, he looked into her eyes and said,"I love you mom." He started back on his original plans and started heading to the game store to buy his helmet. He got there and decided he would buy the more advanced full dive equipment. As he was purchasing his Advanced full dive gear he had started to fill anxious. He knew he could already be considered a top tier expert from the game he remembered, but he couldn't shake the feeling that he wasn't good enough to take on this challenge. Even though he was feeling anxious and was doubting his own capabilities, he was brimming with anticipation and joy. The next three days of his new life passed by in the blink of an eye as he was waiting for Dragons Crown to be officially released. Finally Dragons Crown was released on December, 11 2027, and this day would later be known as the biggest change in human life to ever happen in human history. As soon as John awoke from his deep sleep he jumped up to eat and then laid back in bed to start his life in the full dive virtual world again. When he put on his helmet and started up the game he got a notification saying,"please choose class from given choices," he read it smiling uncontrollably and chose swordsman. He then received another notification saying,"Class chose now logging into Dragons Crown please stand by," as he was teleported into the game he got a final notification that asked,"Please chose form given Kingdoms and Empires as to which city you would like to start your journey in. He instantly chose to go to a city in the Star Fallen Kingdom named "The Dark Moon City." He choose to start here as this was where he had started in his previous life and he knew a lot about the surrounding areas and the secret treasures that they held. 

As he was only just starting out he didn't have anything interesting actually as he was wearing all common armor. The armor in Dragons Crown was divided into 9 groups ranging from worst to best they where common, uncommon, bronze, silver, silver-gold, gold, abyss gold, epic, and then legendary. He also started off with 100 bronze coins and there where 4 different types of coins that where available in the game. It started out as Bronze, then it went to Silver which was 1000 Bronze pieces, then it went to Gold which was 2000 Silver pieces, and finally there was Mythril which was worth 10000 gold pieces and where seen every know and than mainly in super guilds and other top notch guilds that where financially supported. This meant that 1 Mythril piece was worth 200,000 silver pieces or 200,000,000 copper pieces which could buy you almost anything in the second world. As he was looking over his inventory he smiled and said,"I'm back and this time the crown will be mine." As Dark Flame finished he blasted off towards a level 5-10 zone called "The Wondering Woods," filled with Water Sprites, slimes, and silver crocks that where the main monsters that where here. There where also elites that where mixed in as well as epic ranked monsters that would respawn every 4 to 5 hours. In the inner most part of "The Wondering Woods" was a lord ranked monster named "The Masked Viper."

POSITIVE REVIEW :

Hands down the best MMO story I've ever read. What makes The King's Avatar stand out are:

1) the level of realism - this isn't a vague fantasy genre meshed into the form of an MMO, these are real people playing a game, and the blend of RL and game life, the player interactions, World Chat, etc. really bring out the flavor of watching an MMO.

2) The insane level of detail - this author is amazing. No other story has this much focus on the reality of pro gaming, which includes physical skill, game knowledge, the ability to strategize and use that knowledge to their fullest advantage... Either the author himself used to be a pro gamer or he has top tier researching skills, but as a casual MMO player I recognize that even imagining these situations goes way above my grade. Recognizing an actual skill gap between myself and the MC - and not just "the MC picked up some magic stuff and became amazing through vaguely described training" - stirs up a ton of admiration not only for the characters but for the author as well.

3) The amazing, lively characters. All of them have enormous personalities. There are a ton of side characters that are hilarious or awesome and that I want to see more of because I know they'll be fun to read about. This is the opposite of most LNs who have disposable, flat, just-there-to-be-puppet side characters, or LNs who have side characters with tons of potential but are never developed (CD, I love ya but you toss out amazing side characters like tissues...) My favorite part of having all these great characters is the banter and the trash talk, especially in the later chapters when the big fish come out. Even the annoying characters have their charm...

4) Finally, it has to be said that the MC himself is pretty great. He's definitely more mature and interesting than most protagonists I've read about. It's a bit hard to describe him, but the way he deals with Sleeping Moon in the early chapters is one of the greatest marks of his personality. If the character were more immature he'd be focused on getting revenge and "saving face"; if the character were colder he'd just ignore everything and go solo lone wolf. But Ye Xiu? He's self-assured, but not arrogant - forgiving because he's there's no point in getting riled - but canny enough to calmly wring out advantages for himself even in seemingly bad situations. The main point is that things don't just fall in Ye Xiu's lap, he works for it and makes things happen the way he wants through experience, knowledge, or just plain old haggling. Of course, the universe doesn't revolve around his decisions, so it's always fun to read about how he has to tunnel his way through the ever-growing mess he's accidentally created for himself.
If you enjoy the concept of MMOs, gaming, and/or esports, I definitely recommend this!

CRITICAL REVIEW :

The main thing that made me stop reading this is the lack of knowledge of the author in terms of gaming, which resulted in unrealistic and extremely shallow game mechanics and/or events.
For 3 slightly more detailed reason why:
First off, this was supposed to be a depiction of the highest of level of gameplay from a pro-gamer, but I didn't see any semblance of it. Most stuff shown here were mainly unrealistic, and then common to slightly uncommon strategies, techniques, and game-mechanics. The author's portrayal of the MC feels like it's coming from a "fan" point of view, not from an actual high level narration/analyst/player. For instance, let's say you ask a boxing fan and a boxing analyst about a certain boxer about what makes him good. Most fans will answer you with "he's so good because he's fast, he's super strong, and muscular", because of the lack in technical knowledge, in comparison to the analyst who will show you stats, mathmatical stueff, physiological stuff, psychological stuff, and so on. This is what it is like to me when I read this novel, it feels like it was written by a "fan-knowledge" level person, which leads me to my next point, the authors lack of knowledge.
The author doesn't seem to know how things work, and generally how games work. One thing I can think on the top of my head is the APM. The MC has unrealistically high APM (3 digits, can't remember exactly), which is only obtainable from either hacking the game, or extremely unrealistic super human level of animation canceling (provided that the game can even perform such mechanics, because you know the author didn't mention it). I don't even know why the author mentioned APM in a first / third person almost shooter type of game in the first place. These sort of stuff breaks the immersion for me. I always notice these small flaws, which makes me skip chapters just to check if the author address them, but ultimately left disappointed because of the lack of explanation, not even a mention about these certain mechanics.
Lastly, too much grinding. People keep saying that MMORPGs are supposed to be grindy, but the thing is, we are not playing a game, we are reading a novel. Sure, you can grind all you want in a game, and it can give you satisfaction once you achieve desired level, or gained your desired item. But when reading a novel, all the stuff about grinding gives no satisfaction at all. All the million chapters spent on grinding could have been spent on world building, character development, plot twists, and so on. But no, half or a little bit more than half of the novel used for grinding. You must be really bored if you really enjoy reading all of them.

Tinggal satu menit dan dua puluh detik lagi.

«Dia» tetap seperti itu untuk beberapa waktu, dan orang-orang di sekitarnya akhirnya melihatnya dan menjadi ribut. Bahkan untuk permainan PK tak terbatas GGO, menyerang di jalan adalah hal yang mustahil. Walaupun bisa ditembakkan, peluru tidak akan melukai pemain atau objek apapun.

Beberapa orang menertawakan tindakan «Dia» yang sia-sia tapi «Dia» tidak terpengaruh, dan terus mengarahkan pistol hitamnya.

Di dalam panel, Zexceed melanjutkan ocehannya.

Tubuh asli Zexceed sedang terbaring di suatu tempat, dengan «AmuSphere» di kepalanya yang menghubungkannya ke studio maya MMO Streaming. Dia tidak tahu bahwa sebuah pistol sedang membidik karakternya di layar TV pada sebuah bar, di pusat perbelanjaan di ibukota dunia GGO «SBC Gurokken».

Mulut «Dia» terbuka, dan berteriak sekeras-kerasnya.

"Zexceed! Kamu si pemenang palsu! Sekarang, rasakan kebenaran dari kekuatan yang sesungguhnya!!"

Dikelilingi oleh pemain disekitarnya yang terdiam, «Dia» mengangkat tangan kirinya, dengan jarinya yang berpindah dari kepala, dada, bahu kiri, kemudian bahu kanan sehingga membuat sebuah tanda salib.

Sambil menurunkan tangan kirinya, tangan kanannya menarik pelatuk.

Di bar yang remang-remang, peluru logam tersebut terbang dalam sebuah garis lurus - dan menghantam bagian depan panel hologram, menimbulkan efek cahaya kecil.

Itulah yang terjadi. Di layar, mulut Zexceed terus bergerak.

Pada saat itu, toko terisi dengan tawaan. 'Ahaha' 'Dia melakukannya' dan kata-kata lain diucapkan dan diantara obrolan yang terjadi, Zexceed melanjutkan kata-katanya.

Setelah membantu Kirito membeli perlengkapan dalam game tersebut, keduanya ikut mendaftar dalam sebuah turnamen yang disebut “Bullet of Bullets”. Mengetahui bahwa Kirito benar-benar seorang laki-laki, Sinon pun menamparnya. Karena merasa dibohongi oleh Kirito, Sinon pun menyuruh Kirito berjanji kepadanya agar terus bertahan hingga Semifinal sehingga dia bisa mengalahkan Kirito dalam pertarungan di Turnamen tersebut
