Not only was Nabari not hiding his secrets—he wasn't even wary of Zhang Zian and Peter Lee when he was imparting his knowledge to Salem. He even let them write down the GPS coordinates of the stone, making them embarrassed.
So what if they knew the GPS coordinates? It was clearly not possible that they were going to give up on their comfortable lives and jobs in the city to snatch work away from them anyway.
Peter looked at the time. Their fifteen minutes were almost up. He spoke through the walkie-talkie then. "Everyone, return to your cars, and get ready to go."
Zhang Zian returned to his car too. Seeing that all the elfins were back, he asked, "The road is still long ahead of us, so does anyone want to go back into the phone? I'll let you all out when we stop to set up camp for the night."
The journey was dull and boring, the desert looking the same no matter where they went. The scenery looked as though it stood still no matter how fast they drove. The moment they entered the sandy area, the car would dive up and down like a small boat in the middle of the sea. It was nauseating.
Even though it was already past mid-afternoon, the temperature in the desert was still more than 40 degrees Celsius. Right at noon, it was as hot as 55 degrees Celsius, the surface temperature of the desert reaching 80 degrees Celsius, hot enough to cook an egg. Even though they were wearing thick-soled shoes meant specifically for the deserts, the heat would travel to their feet after less than a minute of standing outside. It got really hot and humid in the shoe, feeling just as horrible as stepping in melting butter.
The smell of the diesel-powered engine was nauseating to the sensitive elfins too.
The sun reflected off the hoods of the cars. Without sunglasses, human eyes would be damaged quickly.
The most annoying thing was that under such high heat, the air conditioning in the car was significantly weaker. They couldn't even keep it on constantly, or the rapid powering of the cooler would cause the engine to have lower output. They could only turn the air conditioning on when they really couldn't stand the heat, enjoy the coolness for a moment, and turn it off again.
The moment the air conditioner stopped, their bodies poured out sweat again. The heat dissipation capabilities of humans were very efficient, but the pets, with their entire bodies covered in hair, had a hard time.
Vladimir, Galaxy, and Old Time Tea all planned to go back into the phone to rest, their curiosity sated. Pi had originally planned to write its novel on the way with the laptop in its lap, but it was too difficult to type during a bumpy ride. If not for Nabari reminding them of divots to avoid in front, the jerkiness would be worse. They might even have a car breaking down on them.
Now, he realized why Nabari's eyesight had deteriorated so much despite that he was only in his mid-forties. Having to bring people into the desert so often and having to stare at the sand and dry land, it was a miracle that his eyes had lasted this long.
As for Fina and Famous, it wasn't that they didn't want to, but they couldn't go back to the phone. If they had to stop for any emergencies, it would certainly cause a commotion if anyone found them missing.
The one that Zhang Zian wanted to keep in the phone the most was Richard. That damned bird was really annoying, and it wasn't afraid of getting jostled around. With its two claws firmly grabbing onto his shoulder, he couldn't even swipe it out of the way. It absolutely refused to go back in, too. After he dealt with the elfins, the car became much more spacious. The convoy continued forward.
Another hour passed. The plain scenery made people easily tired. The good news was that the sun was already approaching the horizon, and the horrible heat was starting to dissipate. Zhang Zian opened the car window, letting cool air blow through the car, not even caring about the sand that the wind carried with it as long as he could enjoy the cool breeze.
The bad news was that the dry and rocky road that everyone complained about was coming to a stop, and there was an endless sea of sand before them.
Everyone had the same thought—why not just set up camp here and enter the desert for real tomorrow?
But the main channel was still quiet, and the order to slow down and stop the cars never came. It looked like Peter Lee and Wei Kang both planned to keep moving forward while it was cooling off.
"All cars slow down. Close the gap. We're getting ready to enter the desert, so drive carefully," Peter Lee instructed through the walkie-talkie.

Every sand dune looked like a roof, the wind causing the sand to pile up naturally into a triangular shape with two slopes. While on one side of the dune, the other face of the dune was a complete mystery. There might be an even taller sand dune there or an even deeper valley.
The most troublesome thing was that every sand dune's height, angle of slope, and softness of sand were slightly different. It was difficult for a driver to estimate the acceleration that they would have to use.
If the acceleration was too much, they would have too high a speed when crossing the top of the sand dune, and they would end up airborne. They could only pray to God that they would be able to land safely then. If it was too steep or the angle was too different on the other end of the sand dune, the car could flip. If they didn't put in enough acceleration, the car wouldn't have enough speed to climb up the sand dune and end up sliding backwards, either flipping or crashing into the car behind them, or even sinking into the sand.
They could only rely on their experiences then, only able to tell by feel and not something that can be taught verbally. Even Nabali could only hint them by saying things like "high sand dune,""middle sand dune," or "low sand dune." But what were the standards for "high,""middle," and "low"? How much acceleration did they have to give for the high sand dunes? How much for the low ones?
It had already gotten cooler, but every single driver ended up sweating due to how nervous they were. Every single sand dune was a toss-up with their lives, and they didn't know whether they would come down safely after going up.

Zhao Yao, the protagonist of the story, is the most ordinary man you could possibly imagine. “… eh?” The thickset man was momentarily surprised by the question. Then, he shook his head and smiled. “You are the Guild Leader. We obey your commands.”

Phoenix let out a gentle sigh and said, “Back in the London instance dungeon, I personally killed off Dagger. It would be impossible for you to not have any opinions on my actions there. Monster was silent.

“I have this feeling that Chen Xiaolian is quite the outstanding fellow. It is likely that we will be meeting him again in instance dungeons in the future. At any rate… I feel that there is no need for us to hold any grudge against him.” Phoenix sighed.

Monster appeared to be on the verge of saying something. However, at that same moment, they heard a sound.

“Ah wooooo~ ~”

Hearing that, Monster was quick to stand up. He knitted his eyebrows as he observed the distant wasteland that was shrouded in darkness!

“Wolves?”

With the blade in hand, he snorted and strode to stand before Phoenix.

Something that resembled green coloured ghastly flames appeared in pairs one after another across the wasteland. The number of flames gradually grew in number.

They crept closer.

When the flames came closer to them, they saw that those ghastly flames were in fact a pair of wolf eyes!

A pack of wolves!

At least tens of them were slowly approaching under the cover of darkness. They slowly crept toward the red coloured rocky mountain peak, heading for the campfire.

They had their bodies lowered as they crept forward. Then, when they were around 20 meters away from the campfire, they stopped creeping forward.

The wolves all possessed strong bodies. Their slick green coloured eyes cast an oppressive atmosphere upon them. The number of wolves slowly grew as more wolves arrived from behind.

“Strange, why aren’t they attacking?” Monster asked as he curled the corners of his lips and smiled in a relaxed manner.

“A wolf pack must certainly wait for the pack leader to give the command,” Phoenix replied gently and pointed out with her hand.

The pack of wolves split out and a huge grey coloured wolf moved into sight.

This was likely the pack leader.

Physique wise, it appeared bigger and stronger than the other wolves. Its constitution was bigger than the other wolves by a considerable notch. Its curled jaws revealed its sharp row of fangs. Both its front and rear limbs were extremely thick and powerful. As it slowly moved forward, the other wolves slowly backed away as they lowered their heads in a submissive posture.

The alpha wolf moved to the middle and its pair of green coloured eyes looked coldly at the campfire. It then turned toward the campfire and slowly moved forward.

When the alpha wolf stared at Monster with its pair of green coloured eyes, Monster felt irritated and was unable to restrain himself from brandishing his blade while shouting, “You beast! Bring it! This senior just happens to be in need of a wolf skin cloak!”

Phoenix on the other hand, frowned. She retreated until she was beside the campfire and pulled out a burning firewood from it. She lifted it to use it as a torch and said, “Monster, back up a little!”

“They’re just a pack of beasts!” Monster replied in a relaxed manner. However, as he was turning his head to speak those words, the alpha wolf raised its head and howled out!

The howl was the command to attack! In but an instant, two black shadows shot out toward Monster.

Monster was stunned. However, he was not just an ordinary human. He sneered and shouted, “Cunning!”

He casually stepped to the side and the blade in his hand slashed out. A piercing sound could be heard as blood sprayed out from a wolf that was cut into two while it was in mid-air! At the same time, the iron hammer in his right hand was swung and a muffled sound came out as the other wolf was sent flying with a smash. By the time it fell to the ground, it had already become a clump of fleshy pulp. All its bones had been smashed to bits!

However, this did not stop the incoming attack!

Over tens of wolves rushed forward!

Monster roared out and opened up both his arms. With the blade in his left hand and the iron hammer in his right, he became like a human windmill.

Soon, two more wolves whimpered as they were sent flying and a thick scent of blood filled the air.

It was then that the alpha wolf that was located in the middle of the pack of wolves roared out successively.

Phoenix’s eyes flickered!

She suddenly raised her right hand.

A magic wand suddenly appeared in her right hand. The wand then elongated!

It became even longer compared to her person!

Phoenix held onto the long wand and suddenly let out a shout while gently tapping the ground using the wand.

Weng!

A translucent shockwave erupted outward. An arc of light burst out in a seemingly slow motion and the wolves that were pouncing at her were suddenly blasted away by some unknown force while they were in the middle of the air.

With a boom, the arc of light threw more than ten wolves a distance of roughly seven to eight meters away. When they fell to the ground, they either had broken tendons or were coughing out blood. Some were twitching as they continued to lie on the ground.

Han Bi who was spectating from above was secretly rendered breathless. This female magician is indeed very powerful! This area of effect spell was a very useful spell!

With one spell, Phoenix was able to repulse the enemy. Seeing that more than 10 wolves were heavily injured, Monster who was nearby brandished his iron hammer and smashed away the wolf that was engaging him.

Phoenix listened attentively to the sounds brought by the winds. Her eyes flickered and she said, “Not right! I hear something! Someone is coming!”

The sound of engine could quickly be heard coming from the west side.

The roaring sound of engine continued to reverberate through the air and a dune buggy could be seen making its way toward the red coloured rocky peak.

A large number of sand clouds rose up behind the dune buggy.

Seeing the dune buggy, Han Bi felt himself feeling frustrated… dune buggy?

I was sure, when I saw Death, I would be chased by it, all over the multiverse, or preparing like a Manhua novel protagonist to take revenge against Death. I most certainly did not expect a friendly chat, and a gesture of goodwill. But I must be careful, I analysed each part of sentence, as it was spoken, and if any hidden meaning could be drawn from them? I was up against a primordial entity, and carelessness was not fatal, it was giving up! Giving up on all the sacrifices you made, all the suffering you endured, all the hard work, all the plans and plotting, all the accomplishments and all your Desires! I was not allowed to be careless. I could not afford to! I may be ranting, but its not like life can prepare you for a chat with DEATH itself. I may be on panic mode, and it may have hit me harder, harder than even Failure possibly could! I was on my toes, and could not gather my thoughts. My hands were shaking, my skin was cold and jittery, my lips were chaffed, my throat was parched, and my head processed one singular thought: I just met Death, and it helped me! It was not an achievement to be proud of, nor an event to sigh with relief. I just found out every action, every decision and every plot I made could very well have been seen by Death. My lies, my betrayal, my sins, my ambition and my desire was all laid bare before Death. It must even know, the very thoughts in my mind, my reactions, my plots, everything. And the biggest fear of them all! Death may not be necessarily, the only Primordial Entity keeping an eye on me. What if someone sees my actions and decides, "the fool has meddled enough, I must snuff out his petty existence." What safegaurds me then? I may have been safe till now, but I must not test my luck. It may fail me!
I need to plot out properly now, I cannot risk dying just because I was careless. Like the Littany of Fear in Dune, I must have my own against being Careless.

I must not be Careless, Careless is the mind-killer. Careless is the little death that brings total obliteration!

Over a hundred chapters in, and the end of the second volume(82 Chapters!). For those who read my first Afterword, you'll know my goal coming into this was to introduce more characters, Blessed, and how they interact, interfere, and affect the MC's choices.
You'll know that I started this novel for it to be a tad bit darker, gritty, while intent on developing side characters in a unique and interesting way. This has still been my modus operandi, but volume two didn't turn out as I hoped. The feedback has been a mix of positivity(thanks to you all) and negativity(which in hindsight, I could understand). 
I feel like my intentions and desires for this volume became twisted by my unintentional want to connect two characters and highlight a struggle. While I don't regret creating this type of uniquely and rarely seen relationship and interactions between two characters, I will definitely seek to improve upon it and my clarity of writing going forward. I fully apologize if it was an uncomfortable or distasteful read for some.
To be clear: Coming into this, I had a concrete plan. Explore the world, introduce the concept of other Blessed into this world, meet new side-characters that will impact the MC, have the events or people in volume one affect or drive volume two, and develop unique and strange relationships with others that are both divisive and thought-provoking. And while that was completed, even if not all of it was positive, it was done. The only issue was perhaps it wasn't executed in the best way possible, and I admit that.
There were times I questioned myself. I wondered if I should write it like this, should I continue with this path, or should I scrap the entire thing and rewrite volume two completely. Then someone sent me a very enlightening message: "Novels have good and bad moments, you just have to ensure that your novel is great in the end. You'll find your flow."
Only then did I have an epiphany; I'm writing this novel with an end goal in my heart, and every word and chapter is a learning experience. As I move forward towards that end goal, I can only hope to bring forth better developments and changes for you and me. In the end, what matters is that the novel is a great, unforgettable experience that I want it to be and know it can be. A volume that isn't liked by some doesn't mean it's over. It just means I'm still finding my flow, and so is the overall novel. 
So I want to start volume three with a fresh mindset while keeping in mind what made volume one great and volume two a little unenjoyable. I'll drive this forward and hope that I can make volume two seem like a blip and bump in the overall heart-shaking journey that's to come. By eclipsing it with the future! The awesome, exciting, and hilarious scenes, clashes, revealments, character developments and world exploration, while simultaneously improving my writing and ability to convey what I want to all you phenomenal readers.
Alright, I've said all I needed to say on that. Now I'll explain my goal for this next volume!

Kaleb sprang into action at the warning and turned to run back down the dune. Unfortunately, athletics had never been his forte and the sudden decent of the dune was more than his coordination could handle. Kaleb's feet tangled as he tried to gain balance and he fell head first as he rolled down the rest of the dune. He came to a stop at the bottom lying on his back looking up at the dune he had just descended. He was battered but Kaleb felt, with relief, that nothing was broken, although his scrapes that he had gotten on his landing in this world were bleeding again.
At his landing at the bottom of the dune, the top seemed to erupt as the creature pursuing Kaleb breached the sand with its momentum before crashing back into the sand, beginning its decent toward him. It's appearance was that of a large worm 1 meter wide, with sections of armored carapace making up its body, that were a slightly darker shade than the sand it moved through. Its mouth was like a closed flower split into four petals and, when it broke through the sand with a shriek, Kaleb was able to see the hook like teeth that lined the inside of its mouth and throat.
'Dune Trap.' Rackshar said solemnly as Kaleb laid there stunned. He may have been able to understand that he was on another planet with magic and monsters but it was another thing to see one for his first time. But his amazement was short lived and adrenaline surged through him as he watched the worm's trail of sand coming swiftly down toward him. Kaleb scrambled to his feet and started running in the direction of least resistance, staying in the valleys between the dunes.
'Dune Trap? Is that its name? Why is it called a trap?'
'You don't need to worry about this one trapping you, it's still quite young. They got that name because of the adult Dune Traps, whose bulbous mouth only can get up to 200 meters wide and 150 long and the overall length of their body is many times that. Because of their large size moving through the sand of the desert alerts all its prey and scares it off long before it arrives. So the Dune Trap's expose their bulbous mouths and let the winds cover them with sand making them look like a dune at which point it will wait for prey to cross it before opening to devour them.'
'You mean any of these dunes I walk across could kill me?' Kaleb said in surprise as he warily examined the dunes around him as he ran.
'No, a full grown Dune Trap would never waste its time on you. You are so small that you wouldn't even be a snack for it. Dune Traps will sometimes wait for years for suitable prey before exposing themselves. Also they are quite rare so you aren't likely to ever come across one.' Rackshar tried assuring him.
'Then my luck is really holding steady at rock bottom' Kaleb thought to himself as he looked over his shoulder at the young Dune Trap steadily gaining on him. 'I can't let this turn into a endurance contest'.
Kaleb situation was looking grim. His breathing was ragged and his legs felt wobbly like jelly, adrenaline was the only thing keeping him going.
'I need to think of a way to lose this worm. If its as long as Rackshar hinted toward than its mobility underground should be low, it will probably have trouble turning.' Kaleb thought as he rounded a dune to see the valley split onto either side of a dune in middle and a plan formed in his mind.
Kaleb slowed his speed as he veered toward the right fork. The Dune Trap came at him quickly and, as it neared, Kaleb turned with his heart threatening to beat out of his chest, and ran directly at the Dune Trap. Sand sprayed from the ground as the Dune Trap's head sprang from the earth, its mouth flaring open with a screech, launching itself at Kaleb. Kaleb dove to the left with all his might but his lack of agility showed its ugly face once again as his right leg was clipped by the Dune Trap's charge sending him sprawling with some ugly gashes on his leg from the hooked teeth. As he looked at the ugly lines of his wound Kaleb knew he would have lost the leg if the Dune Trap hadn't been throw off by Kaleb's unexpected charge. It had mistimed its bite leaving Kaleb only wounded.
Crawling off the ground Kaleb began a limping run back the way he had come, away from the two forks, keeping the Dune Trap's still submerged body between himself and the left fork that he hadn't taken. Blood was streaming from his leg and he was starting to feel light headed but Kaleb knew if he stopped now he would die.
He waited until the Dune Trap re-submerged its head and continued its pursuit, making a wide u turn to chase him. Then Kaleb dove across its submerged body and ran toward the left fork. He heard a frustrated screech from behind and took a quick glance over his shoulder to see the Dune Trap's resurfaced head thrashing around trying to turn itself toward Kaleb, but it was unable to as its armored sections bunched in the attempt to continue its rotation.
'Just as I thought', Kaleb thought with a relived sigh as he kept running. 'Its body is rigid because of its armored carapace and can't make sharp turns, especially underground.'
Kaleb knew that this was only a delaying tactic. The Dune Trap would untangle itself and continue its chase but he had bought himself some time and distance, to hopefully think of a more permanent solution.
It only took a few minutes before Kaleb turned to check his trail and saw the Dune Trap's telltale sand mound in the distance. He knew he needed something and needed it fast, as his speed continued to slow down from the blood loss and exhaustion.
"Nan ci!"
A shout suddenly startled Kaleb from his thoughts. As he looked for the source of the voice Kaleb saw someone on top of a dune off to his left franticly waving their arms.

Torn from his comfortable life, his love and even his World; Kaleb is forced to a dangerous reality due to his lineage of Dragon's blood. 

In this new World where magic and power reign supreme, Kaleb is thrown into a society of dark truths, where the strong prey on the weak and the Dragons and their decedants are hunted even by the Gods.
