Suffering from heatstroke, malnutrition and dehydration, he's on the verge of collapse.

From the depths of darkness, a giant ship approached the orange-red planet. The words TS Expedition were engraved on the hull and blended in perfectly with the black armor. Just like a sharp sword piercing through the darkness, it alluded a deadly vibe among the stars.
The bowl-shaped engine ejected a red glow, and then the glow suddenly disappeared.
Under the influence of inertia, the Seagull-class transport ship slowly stopped on the synchronous orbit of Mars.
"The main engine off."
"Secondary engine ignited."
"The orbital parameters have been corrected."
"The feedback beam is confirmed. The center of gravity is normal. Confirmed to enter the synchronous orbit."
"The secondary engine off."
After a series of commands, the serious and tense atmosphere in the bridge disappeared.
A man in a military uniform walked to the captain's side and saluted.
"Captain, we have arrived above the colony! Waiting for your orders!"
The majestic man in the bridge gazed at the fiery red planet outside the window.
"Order the deactivation of the hibernation chamber."
"Roger!"
Outside the bridge, inside the transport cabin.
The lights on the wall began to illuminate one after another as they lit up the rectangular space.
The hibernation chambers along the wall emitted a blue glow as gas escaped from the edges between the hatch and the chamber itself.
The hibernation chambers opened and the soldiers inside opened their eyes. They pushed out of the half-closed hatch doors. Just like what they performed many times in exercises, they rushed to their battle positions in an orderly manner.
The crew in blue overalls headed swiftly to the function bays of artillery, observation, power, and the Marines in gray-white uniforms rushed into the arsenal and equipped themselves with space kinetic skeletons and Gauss rifles. They all waited in the buffer cabin on standby.
Inside the bridge.
The officer returned to the captain and saluted again.
"All hibernation chambers have deactivated."
"Connect the colony channel."
"Roger!"
The holographic screen emerged in the middle of the bridge, and after a series of white flickering images, the image on the screen quickly stabilized.
When the man appeared on the screen, from the captain's calm expression, there was a smile that was beginning to form.
On the other hand, Hong Zewei sighed in relief as he stood in the command room of the colony and looked at the friend on the screen who had finished his captain training one year after him.
Hong Zewei cleared his throat, and with a composed voice, he expressed his welcome to the arrival of the reinforcements on behalf of the colony.
"This is Mars colony. We welcome the expedition force to enter the bay."
"This is Expedition. The first group of Marines is airborne. Thank you for your hard work."
...
When he looked up above the colony, the joy and shock in Zhang Hai's eyes magnified.
The prism-shaped airdrop cabins dragged a blue glow, and left clear trajectories in the sky. They eventually crashed into the desert near the colony.
The dust of Mars was sent high up into the air and the impact wave blew the red sand instantly away.
The hatches on all sides opened and smashed into the ground.
New combat vehicles rolled out from the airdrop cabins as they left trails of dust.
The new combat vehicle was called Pathfinder T-2. Compared to Pathfinder T-1, previously equipped for the colony, the new vehicle had higher tonnage, a hybrid track-design that replaced the rubber tires and rapid-fire guns that fired electromagnetic shells.
These improvements were designed to deal with extraterrestrial armor units that may appear near Mine 071. Except they did not expect that there would only be a weathered ruin under Mine 071 without any thing else in sight.
However, the situation took another twisted turn, and the Devil Worms that emerged from underground caught Celestial Trade by surprise. The one hundred Pathfinder T-2s were then deployed to eradicate Devil Worms which provided armor protection for vulnerable targets.
The movement outside the colony attracted the attention of the Devil Worms nearby.
When the Devil Worms felt the tremors from the surface, they drilled out from the oxygen supply layer. Like the mythical earth dragons that roamed in the ground in old legends, they accelerated to the source of the tremor, before they penetrated out from the ground and bit down on the "new neighbors" they haven't even encountered yet.
"REEEEE-!"
The muffled screeching of the Devil Worms sounded like cries of pain. The two pairs of sickles hit the sturdy armor but only left a crack the size of a thumb.
The large-scale rapid-fire guns began to rampage with glaring lights emitting from the fearsome barrels. The shells accelerated to multiple times the speed of sound, then instantly ruptured the armor of the Devil Worms and turned those bugs into sieves. Devil Worms crawled out from the ground one after another, just like worms after a storm, they bit toward the vehicles.
However, the unintelligent creatures were unable to comprehend the stupidity of their behavior.
The sickle that could slice granite was stopped by the Grade-A steel. Unable to break the armor of the vehicle, it at most posed interference to the attack of the vehicles. But when the bugs realized this point and started their retreat into the ground, it was already too late.
Inside the spaceship, the captain who had ended communication with the colony locked onto the red dots on the satellite map.
Life detection device.
The maximum depth of detection for underground creatures was only five kilometers, but for those Devil Worms that sensed the tremor on the surface and already moved upwards, they were within range.
When the armored units of Celestial Marines completed its assembly, he immediately ordered.
"Depth five kilometers, launch the underground seeking missile!"
"Roger!"
As soon as an order was issued, the crew members in the bridge immediately began to execute.

On the holographic screen in the middle of the bridge, the red dot that was the focus of everyone's attention quickly descended.
When the altitude value jumped to negative five kilometers, the gunner calmly said.
"Hit confirmed!"
Almost at the moment when he finished this sentence, the flame was like rolling magma, engulfing the rock and tunnels with Devil Worms lurking into an ocean of fire.
Thousands of degrees of high temperature even ignited the air, even the metamorphic rock could not withstand such a high temperature, as the rock directly liquefied into magma. The magma dripped into the next layer and formed into pointy stalagmites.
No creature could survive through this purgatory.
Even the species that survived over 3.7 billion years lost to the weapons of the civilized.
The raging flame quickly dissipated.
A string of red dots that marked life on the screen also extinguished.
An officer walked to the captain and stood upright, clean, and neat.
"A total of twenty-seven Devil Worm kills confirmed!"
The captain listened to the report from the first officer, then nodded. There was a sense of pride hidden deep in his pupils.

Watching the scene unfold, the remaining disciples of the Fire Emperor Sect all wore expressions of surprise, their eyes filled with shock.
 
Linglong Huo did not turn around to look at the disciples behind her. Instead, she walked to Qingfeng Li's side and spoke in a respectful tone. "Thank you so much for bringing the Fire Emperor's ashes back. And for helping me kill Wuya Tie in order to avenge my senior brother."
 
Qingfeng Li smiled. "Linglong Huo," he said, "you don't need to thank me. On Earth, I had also received help from the Fire Emperor. All I'm doing now is fulfilling his last wishes."
 
He paused, before continuing. "Is there anything else you need?"
 
Linglong Huo shook her head. With the ashes of the Fire Emperor in her hand, she turned to leave.
 
Suddenly, Qingfeng Li stopped her. "Wait," he said.
 
Linglong Huo turned back to him, her stiffened face betraying a hint of confusion as she spoke. "Is there anything else?"
 
Qingfeng Li reached into his interspatial ring and produced two tomes containing Supreme level techniques, and one supreme level elixir. He handed these to Linglong Huo. "These are for you."
 
Initially, Linglong Li intended to reject the gift. But faced with Qingfeng Li's strong insistence, she finally accepted it.
 
Qingfeng Li did this as a gesture of thanks for the Fire Emperor. After all, the Fire Emperor Sword that he was currently using and the Fire Emperor Sutra that he had practice were all given to him by the Fire Emperor.
 
Expressing her gratitude to Qingfeng Li once more, Linglong Huo turned and led her remaining disciples away from this place.
 
The Second Prince walked to Qingfeng Li's side. "Are we going to go look for the monarch soul fruit now?" he asked.
 
Qingfeng Li shook his head. "Let's go raise our strength, first," he said. "The Crimson Fire Desert is exceptionally dangerous. Aside from self-cultivators from the five kingdoms, there are still other powerful forces."
 
Indicating the interspatial ring, he continued. "I've just gotten a lot of elixirs, spirit herbs, and vitality stones from Yijian Jin's interspatial ring. They can help everyone increase their strengths."
 
The Second Prince nodded, agreeing with Qingfeng Li's suggestion. He, too, knew that they were in grave danger here in the Crimson Fire Desert. And although Qingfeng Li was very strong, he was still only one man.
 
If they were to encounter a group of people, then the situation would become difficult. There was, after all, no way Qingfeng Li could protect the entire group.
 
Qingfeng Li instructed the Desert Giant to lead the way to an inconspicuous dune ahead of them. The dune rose up high on all four sides, leaving a depression in the middle. Looking from the outside, no one would be able to tell.
 
Qingfeng Li took out the interspatial ring he had taken from Yijian Jin. From within, he produced massive amounts of elixirs and spirit herbs; these were Supreme level and Emperor level treasures!
 
He distributed these among the people around him, giving one to each person. Even Black Puppy and Sky-Devouring Snake got their share.
 
"Everyone, quickly absorb the elixirs I gave you to increase your power," Qingfeng Li instructed. "Then, we're going to go find the monarch soul fruit."
 
After he spoke, Qingfeng Li took the lead and sat down with his legs crossed. He took out an elixir for himself; this was a supreme level elixir.
 
This elixir took the form of a sphere the size of his thumb. It was gold all over, emitting a sparking golden light. On the surface of the elixir, there was a hint of golden talisman scriptures blinking within.
 
Qingfeng Li popped the supreme level elixir into his mouth and crushed it with his teeth. Then, activating his Heavenly Immortal Chant, a stream of golden energy appeared within him. It guided the immense vital essence from the elixir into his lower abdomen, and then his spirit core.
 
The space in which Qingfeng Li's spirit core resided was like an ocean, capable of storing a limitless amount of vital essence. After absorbing such a massive amount of vital essence, the space began to expand. At the same time, the spirit core underwent a massive change.
 
On the surface of the spirit core, there appeared two marks. Two marks was the indicator that the sun spirit core had reached the second level of the supreme realm.
Qingfeng Li stood up, the muscles all over his body bulging outward and making him look like a giant.
 
Scooping up a handful of sand from the ground, Qingfeng Li griped around it gently. The dense grains of sand were reduced to a powder.
 
The sand in the Crimson Fire Desert was no ordinary sand, being as hard as Fourth Grade meteor stone. That was why the sand storms in this area were extremely dangerous.
 
But now, with just the power of his fingers, Qingfeng Li had ground them to dust. That is to say, if it was a piece of tier 4 meteor stone in Qingfeng Li's hand, it too would have been crushed to a powder.
 
Looking around him, Qingfeng Li noticed that the Second Prince, Black Puppy, Sky-Devouring Snake, Li Yang, and the Desert Giant were still in meditation, along with the dozen or so black-clad figures. They had not finished absorbing their elixirs.

As a self-cultivator, Qingfeng Li could go a long time without food and water. But it was so dry in the desert; even self-cultivators will lose a large amount of water to evaporation. If they didn't replenish their water in time, their strength could decline dramatically as they become physically depleted.
 
A few minutes later, below the sand dune, others awoke from their meditation, including the Second Prince, Li Yang, Black Puppy, Sky-Devouring Snake, and the Desert Giant.
 
Their strengths had all grown, especially the Second Prince and Sky-Devouring Snake. These two had broken through to the Supreme Realm.
 
Qingfeng Li wasn't too surprised that the Second Prince was able to reach the Supreme Realm. But the fact that Sky-Devouring Snake had a breakthrough made him very happy.
 
He knew of the power of Sky-Devouring Snake; it was an actual ancient godly beast, only it had to cultivate its power from the beginning again.
 
Sky-Devouring Snake was the ancestor of snakes, it had its own super powers. Once it reached the Supreme Realm, its special powers would become even more powerful. This meant that, in the perilous Crimson Fire Desert, they had another way to protect themselves.
 
Qingfeng Li glanced at the Desert Giant, asking, "Where in the Crimson Fire Desert do you think the monarch soul fruit would be?"
 
"Master," the Desert Giant replied. "I've once heard the Desert Queen mention that the monarch soul fruit was located at the heart of the Crimson Fire Desert. There is a very tall mountain, made entirely from golden sand. It's supposed to be very dangerous."
 
Qingfeng Li nodded. "Then our next target is the heart of the Crimson Fire Desert."

Qingfeng Li had a map of the Crimson Fire Desert from five hundred years ago, as well as the Desert Giant for a guide. But the desert was like the ocean, its weather changing without warning. Where, just moments before, it had been clear skies as far as the eye could see, the air was now filled by a raging sandstorm.
 
A black wind swept across the sky, whisking up golden sand from the ground. The sand spun and twirled, forming a series of massive sandstorms.
 
The sandstorm seemed to tear apart the air and the void, shaking up the world around them like it wanted to destroy it all.
 
Luckily, both Qingfeng Li and his group had just increased their strengths by a wide margin. Only then, they could defend against this destructive sandstorm.
 
Through the black sandstorm, Qingfeng Li could see the fragmented corpses of self-cultivators and evil beasts, all torn up into chunks.
 
When Qingfeng Li and company finally made it out of the area covered by the storm, everyone let out a sigh of relief.
Suddenly, Li Yang raised a snow-white hand, and pointing ahead, she cried, "Big Brother Li, look! There is an oasis ahead; it has water. We can replenish our water supplies there."

Being swallowed by the inter-dimensional portal was a physically and mentally traumatic experience for Daniel and the others, one which, despite their cultivation, and Daniel's mental fortitude, none of them had been unable to withstand. 
Mighty tides of natural spacetime essence struck the bodies of the six cultivators over and over again, shaking them like leaves carried through an infinite series of the most violent of rapids. A treatment which resulted in them losing their consciousness before they could get a glimpse of what kind of place they would end up in. 
What followed, was complete darkness.

What woke Daniel up, after an unspecified amount of time, was not a loud noise, nor the feeling of the wind that carried sand past his dried up lips and into his mouth.. But instead, something that Daniel hadn't felt in years-The unbearable warmness of the sunrays. He opened his eyes in an attempt to get his bearings, but the only thing he saw was the blinding light that downed upon him.. A light which he was only able to get used to after several seconds of constant blinking, and which, once gentler to his eyes, revealed a scenery that left Daniel speechless.
Around him were massive dunes of sand as tall as a hundred feet, and aside from the occasional stone that jutted out of the sandy surface to point at the cloudless bright sky, Daniel could see nothing else.
Still hazed by the previous experience, Daniel muttered, "Where the hell am I.." before waving his hand over his head in an attempt to create a cover from the sun. However, when nothing appeared to protect him from these scorching rays, Daniel realized that something was wrong with him. With accelerated breathing, chapped lips, sweat that stuck his clothes onto his skin, and the reduced capacity of his senses.. Daniel suddenly remembered what it felt like to be a mortal.
With increasing worry, he tried to use his powers time and time again, but no matter how many times he tried, not only was there no result, but there was no trace of essence in his body altogether.
*Cough Cough* Before Daniel could even begin to analyze his body, a familiar noise that came from behind him caught his attention. 
When he turned around, he saw the bodies of Rose and the others, who like him, had lost consciousness after being dragged into the inter-dimensional portal. Of the five young women, Rose and Dawn were the first ones to wake up.
"What.. *cough* what is this feeling..?" cried Rose while instinctively covering her eyes with her hand. She and the others had lived their whole lives in a world of cultivation, and because of that, they had never been able to experience the effects that something as insignificant as weather had always been to them, would have on a person.. And that included the oppressive rule of the sun, under which every mortal lived by.
As Cassie, Lilith and Saha woke up, and Dawn and Rose finally managed to get partially used to the light, Daniel staggered in their direction with a dragged pace. "Is.. everyone okay?" he asked with a hoarse voice.
"If you call this being okay.." muttered Rose in response. She then asked, "Where are we? Why can't I feel any form of power in my body? And why is it so hot here?!" What she asked, were the exact same questions that had appeared in the minds of each one of them.
Daniel had a theory regarding the situation they were in, but since he wasn't sure of how realistic it was, in order to avoid creating panic, he simply said, "Help the others up.. We need to find cover." He then approached a recently awoken and still confused Saha, and after grabbing her weak arm, he helped her stand on her feet. Rose and Dawn did the same with Cassie and Lilith, who joined the former two in complaining about the harsh weather conditions.
Aware of the dangers that they were facing, Daniel ignored the complaints of the four young women, and instead, he began to observe his surroundings more carefully. When he stopped, he was staring at the biggest dune of sand. 
With his first objective set, he turned around in order to give instructions, but before he could, "Don't take it off!" he barked in Cassie's direction as he noticed her attempts to remove the heaviest layer of clothing that she was wearing.. One that was covering her shoulders, and her neck.
"Wh-Why?" Cassie asked in response, frightened by Daniel's sudden shout.
"Keep your skin covered, wrap something around your heads, and keep your mouths closed.." muttered Daniel before starting to climb the dune, which crumbled under his feet, making his efforts half as efficient.
"What are you talking about? WHAT IS HAPPENING TO US?!" Asked Lilith with exasperation.
"Oh, that's right.." said Daniel before once again turning to face the others. He then stretched his arms outwards in a welcoming gesture, and said, "Welcome back to mortality." He then resumed climbing while ignoring the confused and constant chattering that was taking place behind his back.
After a few minutes spent climbing with the help of both arms and legs, Daniel finally managed to reach the top of the highest dune sand, on which he stood in hope to spot their hope for survival. Luckily, this hope presented itself in the form of a forest of pointy rocks, underneath which he hoped would be shade, water, and possibly, something to eat.
"We need to go that way!" Shouted Daniel from the top of the dune before relaxing his body, and allowing himself to be dragged by a sand avalanche all the way to the bottom, where the five young women were waiting for him. Then, as the five of them adjusted their clothes in order to follow Daniel's instructions, the six of them began to walk towards the rocky forest.

"I feel so weak.." said Cassie before digging too deep into the sand with her left foot, and falling on her knees. She then added after Dawn helped her up, "What is this awful feeling.. I-"
"You are thirsty. Your body is trying to regulate its temperature by sweating." Daniel said through a layer of fabric which he had ripped from the bottom of his pants, and that he was using to cover his mouth. "The bad side of that, is that in such extreme temperatures, that makes you lose liquids.. Just like opening your mouth, So STOP TALKING."
After about an hour of walking, the group managed to reach the rocky forest, at the bottom of which, to Daniel's relief, were shade and water, but no trace of edible plants or animals. Under Daniel's instructions, Rose and the others took cover under the shade as he approached the closest pond to where the others were resting, and used the curved part of his knee pads to scoop enough water to fill one's mouth.
Once he made sure that the water was not contaminated or poisonous, he approached his five companions, who were now huffing and puffing on the ground, and said, "If it's too hot, you can uncover yourself.. Just as long as you don't go under the sun. Also, if you feel light headed, go and drink some of that water, It will help. Stay here for now, I'll be back soon."
"Where are you going?" asked Rose with worry. Nothing had prepared her and her friends for such a dangerous situation, and now that they possessed none of their power, she felt even more defenseless than she would find herself in front of a cultivator more powerful than her. While in that state of mind, to see Daniel, who seemed to be prepared to handle these sorts of situations, leave their sight, made her panic.
Daniel looked up at the sky, where the sun that was high up over their heads when they had woken up, was now closer to the horizon. "It will be dark soon.. I have to find something to start a fire, and materials to keep it burning throughout the night."
"WHAT?! You want to start a fire with this heath?" Asked Lilith with shock.
"This is a desert. The amount of water in the air is minimal, which means that as soon as the sun sets, it will get cold.. And fast." Said Daniel while rummaging in his pockets in hope to find anything useful. He then turned to look at the five young women, and asked, "Do any of you have a mirror?"
Rose and the others shook their heads before turning to look at one another. Each of them possessed many mirrors, all expensive and of fine workmanship.. but unfortunately, they were all in their spatial containers, to which they had no access to.
"I do.." said Saha timidly before pulling a palm sized mirror from within one of her pockets. A mirror that the blood cultivator that had enslaved her, had used to check the result of his possession the first time he had been into her body.
"Lend it to me." Said Daniel before walking towards her and taking the mirror off her hand. "Remember what I said. Stay here, stay in the shade." he then added before walking further into the rocky forest, and disappearing from their sight.
Once alone, the first thing that Daniel did was to find a patch of shade, and sit on the slightly cooler sand with closed eyes. He then tried to focus on his status.. A thought to which, to his relief, his system reacted to by opening his profile like it would usually do.

What the window that Daniel's system had created in his mind reported, made no sense to him. Starting with the fact that his age had gone from his mid thirties, back to his early twenties.. Followed up by the changes in the section which, in the past, would show his cultivation level and battle prowess, but that now reported at which stage of his life he was, along with the corresponding physical strength.. and ending with the fact that he could not see his own karma.
More confused than he had ever been, Daniel once again closed his eyes, and tried to activate Time is Precious. This time, however, he felt an extremely faint amount of his personal essence appear in the depths of his body, only to disappear right after.
This reaction was extremely brief, but for someone that could understand the behavior of essence as much as Daniel did, it was enough for him to come to a conclusion.. In the world, or more likely the universe where he had ended up in, natural mana did not exist. 
The sand on which he was sitting was made out of finely broken down minerals and rocks, the air that he was breathing was a mixture of gases, and the water he had drunk a few minutes earlier, was what was left of the last rainy day that this desert had seen.
While Daniel had never seen something like this, thanks to his comprehension of space, he was able to speculate that, in this manaless world, essence would act in a similar way as gases, when exposed to a vacuum.. In which case, it would be forcibly pulled out of its container in hope to find an equilibrium of pressure.. And that was what Daniel believed was happening to his body.
Due to the complete lack of mana in the surroundings, every bit of power stored in Daniel's body was being taken away, and pushed into the surroundings in hope to reach equilibrium. Because of this effect, every bit of essence that connected his atoms to one another, and regenerated his cells, was stripped away from his body, turning his body back to that of a simple mortal.
To support this theory was the fact that Daniel's system had recognized him as a twenty-three years old man, which to his memory, was the age in which he had stopped aging, and he had reached complete immortality.
If Daniel's theory was correct, as of now, he was once again a mortal.

Asage was a little angry today.
No one would be able to maintain his cool after learning that the desert trade route that he worked so hard to reopen was facing destruction.
In particular, this natural salt mine.
It was Asage's most profitable resource at the moment. Thinking about the huge amount of money it spent on this trade route, on this salt mine, and to solve the livelihood issues of those lower-class Jackalans, it felt even more infuriated.
It also felt a little wronged.
From Mannheim Coast, across the Nahrin Desert before reaching this place...
Even the strongest Jackalan miner would need to spend 30 days to walk all the way to this place.
As long as it could transport the white and coarse raw salt back to the Kingdom of Grey Mane in the Mannheim Coast, the nobles and high-class Jackalans would buy these wonderful things that could season food. However, the most important thing was that it had not yet made a profit.
It had only been a year since it reopened this trade route and discovered this natural salt mine.
In order to solve the problem in the desert - dealing with the dumb low-class Jackalans - it had to use gifts to impress the only one who could communicate with him, the Jackalan shaman. Just hiring these low-class Jackalans as miners took him three entire months.
Moreover, it spent a lot of money.
Asage thought about it. For this trade route, it had sold everything it owned in the Kingdom of Grey Mane, which made its heart palpitate.
Three thousand silver coins in circulation in the Kingdom of Grey Mane had bought him a military map from ten years ago.
It had invested at least 500 silver coins every month in order to maintain the trade route and its trade caravan.
Now, it had to just give them up for nothing?
Asage's mouth full of sharp teeth snapped tightly together. Its eyes turned from green to red with anger.
"Damn these lowly good-for-nothing Jackalans who should just eat sand in the desert! "
An angry roar came from Asage's throat.
Asage stomped heavily on the ground and kicked the body of a Jackalan who was tying linen bags not far away. Then, it roared, "If you didn't provoke those humans, I wouldn't be in this desperate situation now!"
The Jackalan was kicked away and wailed like a dog.
Its eyes were filled with fear and anger, but when it glanced at its companion who was tied to a wooden stick and had died after being left in the sun on the dune, the anger and ferocity in its eyes were replaced with fear. It lowered its head and trembled.
Asage, a Jackalan who looked the same as the other Jackalans, showed no mercy and did not empathize with them at all.
"Lord Asage, calm down."
Behind them, a few Jackalans wearing mail armor and holding battle axes came over.
Using the Jackalan language similar to the common language of humans, the Jackalan advised Asage, "There's nothing more we can do now. We'd better hurry back. After all, the Grey Mane Kingdom's army has arrived. This salt mine is still yours."
"Yes, yes. Lord Asage, you bought the map from the king and successfully opened up this route to the human kingdom. It is enough to get you a great reward."
These high-class Jackalans who wore mail armor tactfully consoled Asage.
After all, Asage was their employer.
They looked at each other and understood what each of them was trying to say.
A relatively strong and bulky high-class Jackalan said, "Lord Asage, we'd better go back now and bring back news that the human kingdom has also started to set foot in the Nahrin Desert. I think His Majesty the King will gather many brave Jackalan warriors and return here to kill those small and weak humans and turn them into delicious meat jerkies."
"Go back? You cowards only know how to retreat!"
Asage lowered its head. Its eyes were filled with anger, but it did not dare to say it out loud.
Asage had been able to safely cross the Nahrin Desert and get to where it was by relying on the protection of these Jackalan Guards. Without these cunning and cowardly beings, it would have been extremely difficult for him to return to the Kingdom of Grey Mane.
Asage licked its lips and said, "In that case, let's go back."
"This is a wise decision, Lord Asage."
The Jackalan guards nodded quickly and smiles of relief appeared on their faces.
Asage looked at them coldly. It was furious. However, when it thought of the news from those low-class Jackalans, the anger in its heart seemed to dissipate as if a bucket of cold water had cooled it down.
Its green eyes were filled with fear.
The human kingdom's heavy cavalry forces had actually returned to the Nahrin Desert. Moreover, there were also many heavy infantries attached to them. They were all elite troops, and their combat strength was very high.
They had even destroyed the largest Jackalan tribe in the southern part of the Nahrin Desert. It was simply terrifying!
Although they were low-class Jackalans who were uncivilized, dumb, and were unable to join the Kingdom of Grey Mane, they had at least 2,000 people. Even the regular army of the Kingdom of Grey Mane, a fully armed group of high-class Jackalan warriors, would need to make a considerable amount of effort and suffer significant casualties if they wanted to destroy a tribe like that quickly.
However, the human kingdom forces had destroyed the Jackalan tribe so quickly.
"Could it be that these humans have discovered the fact that the Kingdom of Grey Mane had the intention to initiate an invasion?"
Asage gulped.
This piece of intel was part of the Kingdom of Grey Mane's strategic plan.
After the low-class Jackalans that had migrated into the desert 10 years ago informed the Kingdom of Grey Mane formed by high-class Jackalans that a human kingdom existed across the desert, the idea of an invasion was formed.
However, these humans had no reason to know that the Kingdom of Grey Mane wanted to invade and plunder.
"We must hurry up and return now. "
Asage finally made a decision in its heart.
Asage turned its head and looked at the bags of coarse salt that the low-class Jackalan miners carried on their backs.
As long as these white things were transported back to the Kingdom of Grey Mane, Asage would at least receive 1,000 silver coins. Moreover, if it were able to bring back news that the human kingdom had begun to set foot in the desert, it would definitely receive a reward.
Although the high-class Jackalans that formed the Kingdom of Gray Mane were not good at naval warfare and could not fight against the human pirates that came from the sea, in the inland and desert areas, the high-class Jackalan warriors who wore iron armor and held battle axes were the strongest. They could easily fight against three human warriors with the same equipment.
As long as they were the cavalry units covered in iron armor.
Asage added in its heart.
It calmed its mind.
Asage turned its head to look at the Jackalans who were preparing to leave. grabbed a whip and began to shout loudly, to make the tribeless low-class Jackalans that it hired carry the coarse salt that they had mined.
It could not lose these coarse salts that were already available.
Asage was busy all the way until the evening. Finally, the packing had been completed.
Water sacks, food, and coarse salt.
They could have left the desert and headed north toward the uninhabited Devil Desert.
There was no oasis or water there.
They could only endure and persevere by relying on their preparations.
Thanks to the strong physique of the Jackalans, they could bear the devilish zone in the Nahrin Desert. It took them 30 days to cross the desert to get to where they were.
The sun gradually set.
Dusk made the saline-alkali soil golden.
Asage was a little frustrated.
"I really don't know when I will be able to come back." It gently wiped the tears from the corner of its eyes.
Throughout its journey, it had invested nearly 10,000 silver coins. If it were not for the reputation and recouping part of its capital, Asage would have jumped off the cliffs of the Mannheim Coast.
"Lord Asage, let's go."
Behind Asage, 30 Jackalan guards wearing iron armor and holding two-handed battle axes comforted it, "The king will definitely reward you."
Asage sighed and said, "Let's get a move on then."
No matter how rich the rewards were going to be, could it be as much as 10,000 silver coins?
Asage did not believe that would be the case.
However, before Asage could walk more than a few meters forward, the low-class Jackalans behind it, who were carrying coarse salt on their backs, suddenly let out a series of frightened howls. They sounded extremely uneasy.
"What's wrong with this group of low-class trash?"
Asage angrily turned its head towards these low-class Jackalans, it had no intention of treating them as its fellow countrymen.
But when it turned its head back, its pupils suddenly constricted.
Under the twilight of dusk and on top of the dune, multiple fully armed humans riding on warhorses awaited orders.
Although it did not seem like there were many of them, at a glance, each of them was wearing a piece of fine and exquisite armor. Asage instantly realized that they were probably the elite vanguard of the human kingdom that destroyed the Jackalan tribe!
"It's over!" That was the only word in Asage's mind.
On top of the dune, the armored human heavy cavalry had already raised their three-meter-long lances before pouncing down toward them.
The most straightforward killing intent accompanying their charge.


Bags of salt, spices and sugar stacked from inside the shop all the way out into the streets. Merchants loaded with goods going flooded the streets with their carriages.
The air was filled with fragrances emanating from all manner of spices. It was a prosperous, lively city at the side of the oasis. Sounds of metals being hammered and threads being woven were heard all over the place, as smiths and craftsmen were busy at work in their respective workshops.
The banner of the successor of the Kingdom of Swadia—Baron Kant—was hanging on the city gates. The citizens lived peaceful, happy lives, revering their lord from the bottom of their hearts.
Soldiers on the city walls armed with crossbows stood guard over the city, and footmen wearing mail armor patrolled the streets.  The place was one of peace and security.

While the Demon, The Symbolist Faction, and the Devourer Faction were busy dealing with their own conflicts, the remaining faction, the Celestial Faction, were busy dealing with their own situation too.
All the Celestials, along with the kimono woman and her Companions were currently at the surface of the Red Moon, with their bodies tense for any kind of sneak attack.
Their eyes were busy looking all around them, but the only thing that they could see were the almost endless amounts of Red Sand.
There were no suspicious movements here in the Red Moon or whatsoever, not even an indication that something alive was here.
"So, this is the Red Moon. I thought that I will see something hostile here. But from what I can see, this place is eerily quiet…" The one who muttered these words were the Kimono woman, who was currently adjusting her mask. "I thought there could be a trap or something in here. It seems like I am mistaken…"

The Kimono woman continued on looking all around her, as she tried to look for signs of any possible hidden enemy. 

But she still did not find any, which prompted her to just give up.
The Kimono woman then turned her head to the left, until she was face to face with the bratty-looking teenager from earlier. 

This teenager was busy chewing on her gum, giving the Kimono woman a disregarding look as she stared back at her.

"What is it, Delia?"  The teenager replied as she started to glare at the Kimono woman, whose name was revealed to be Delia. "What do you want from me now?"
"Tong'er, do you feel anything weird on this place? Or do you detect any kinds of spiritual anomaly?" Delia replied, seemingly unfazed with the rude reply by Tong'er. "You know that you are the best regarding the metaphysical right here…"

"Hmph, you don't need to praise me like that. Of course I am the best!" Tong'er replied angrily, although some shades of red could be seen on her cheeks. "You want me to do a spiritual search? Heh, I can easily do that!"

"That's my girl!" Delia happily replied as she stuck her tongue out. "I knew at the moment that I tasted your skin that you will be a great ally for me! Hah, I'm so happy that you joined me… It really makes my tongue tingle…"
"Ugh, please stop talking, that's just disgusting!" Tong'er replied in disgust as she let out a shiver. "And please, put back your tongue inside your mouth! It's very creepy!"

"Eh? But I can taste the air better when my tongue is out…"

"Ugh ugh ugh. Just please stop." 

"Fine…" Delia could only reluctantly pull her tongue back in her mouth, looking quite bereaved as she did so.

"Hmph." Tong'er took no notice of this as she started to rummage through her pockets.



1 second later, and Tong'er drew out a piece of white rectangular paper, which suspiciously looked like a paper talisman.

Tong'er held this paper between her index and middle finger while she started to mutter a chant.

The chant used by Tong'er was quite indecipherable, as if there was some kind of power that was preventing anyone from fully understanding Tong'er's chant.

All that Delia could hear right now were gibberish, making her uninterested on  listening on Tong'er.

10 seconds after Tong'er started her chant, an unseen force field propelled out of her body, spreading outwards until it fully went through the whole Red Moon.
While this was happening, Tong'er's eyes were closed in concentration as she kept a tight grip on her paper.
The unseen forcefield did not return, as it faded away once the whole Red Moon was affected by it.

The paper talisman then crumbled into dust, fading away into the air as Tong'er opened her eyes.

"Delia, when I used my spiritual sense to scan this whole place, I noticed something particularly weird at that spot." Tong'er said as she pointed at a massive sand dune 5 kilometers away from them. "Inside that sand dune, I detected an object that was stuck in Limbo."

"Limbo?"

"Limbo, which I meant as the state between life and death." Tong'er replied quickly as she pulled out another paper from her pocket. "Any living beings inside Limbo can be considered to be both dead and alive at the same time, which can be a consequence of injury or some kind of cultivation requirement. Nonetheless, living beings that places themselves in a Limbo state were always rare…"

"Hoho, so that's why I thought this planet was empty. So there was something like that here… Interesting! I wonder how that object would taste like…" Delia muttered deliriously as stars appeared on her eyes. "A living being that was both dead and alive? Hah, that might taste good!" 
"Ugh, please stop that." Tong'er muttered in exasperation as she shook her head. "If we look at the clues here, it's quite obvious that this being that's in Limbo is the Red Moon's Prisoner! I don't recommend that you lick this prisoner… who knows, it might wake up…"


"Heh, but you just said that this being is in Limbo. I doubt that it will just wake up suddenly." Delia replied quickly, as if she was in denial right now.

"But even if that is true, you should still not lick him. It's just so…"

"Wrong? Heh, you know about the things that I have licked before!" Delia replied as she shook her head. "Something like this? It's nothing for me!"

Before Tong'er could let out another complaint,  Delia snapped her fingers as she summoned someone to approach her.

"Oi Adjudicator. Bring your useless ass here."

<<<I'M COMING NOW, ENVOY…>>> Rustling sounds could be heard as the 14-winged angel landed behind Delia.

Right now, the angel had a downcast expression on her face, which looked quite similar to the face of a child that had been punished.

"I still could not forgive your failure to kill the Envoy of the Abyss Plane earlier." Delia said as she gave a cold look at the angel. "But I already punished you for that, so I will forget that matter for now."

"<<<I AM REALLY SORRY ABOUT THAT ENVOY. HIS ATTRIBUTES… WERE JUST THE SHEER COUNTER AGAISNT MY POWER. I HAVE NO WAY TO WI->>>
"Yeah, yeah, I get it. Just drop it for now, ok?"

"<<<AGREED, ENVOY.>>>
"So, what I wanted for you to do was to take out whatever object was inside that sand dune." Delia said as she pointed at the sand dune that Tong'er had detected earlier. "There's a high chance that the prisoner of the Red Moon was inside that dune. Tong'er said that whoever was in there was currently in Limbo, which technically makes it harmless. But I could not just get that object without any precaution. That's why you, a powerful Divine Being, will be the one that makes sure that it will be safe."

"What, do you have any problems with it?"

The angel, under the glare of Delia, was left with no choice but to approach the indicated sand dune.

By using her massive wings, the angel blasted the sands on the sand dune, revealing something residing inside the dune.
The angel, who hesitantly reached out her hands to obtain the object, suddenly stopped on her tracks as she stared in front of her.
Her breathing then started to hasten as her face started to turn red.
Her exaggerated reaction became more animated as she continued to stare at the object.
<<<NO WAY…>>> The angel breathed out as her eyes widened imperceptibly. <<<HOW COULD THIS BE HERE?>>>

What the angel saw inside the sand dune was a hand which was the size of a mountain.

The hand itself was red in color, with its nails looking quite sharp and dangerous. There were some engraved symbols at the body of the hand, along with some metal beads pierced through the fingers.

There were also Origin Devouring Chains that were wrapped all around the hand, making it quite obvious that this hand was indeed, a body part of the Red Moon's prisoner.
"…"
The angel spent the next few seconds just staring at the hand wordlessly, as if she was struggling to articulate herself.

The angel then looked back at Delia, who was looking at the angel with a frown on her face.

The angel seemed to want to say something to Delia, and it took the angel some moments before she could talk.
<<<ENVOY, THIS RED PRISONER… IS SOMEONE THAT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!>>> The angel said these words hastily, as if she was trying to say everything that she can in a short amount of time. <<<ENVOY, I KNOW THAT YOU HAD SEEN MANY KINDS OF DANGERS ALREADY, BUT THIS ONE RIGHT HERE IS A DIFFERENT CASE! WE SHOULD BE EXTREMLY CAREFUL OF HIM!>>>
"You... for you to say something like this, does that mean that you recognize the kind of being this Red Prisoner was?" Delia replied as she began to look at the red hand with wariness. "Faster, tell me everything that you know right now!"

ONCE THAT ALLIANCE WAS BROKEN OFF, THE GOETIC ORDER AND THE HOLY ORDER BECAME HOSTILE WITH EACH OTHER, WHICH LEAD TO COUNTLESS SKIRMISHES BETWEEN THE TWO ORDERS. UP TO THE DAY THAT I WAS CAPTURED, THE HATE BETWEEN THESE TWO ORDERS WERE STILL SKY HIGH, AND I WILL NOT BE SURPISED IF THAT HATE STILL EXISTS UNTIL NOW. THE DEMONS OF THE GOETIC ORDER HAD THEIR OWN KINDS OF ASSORTED ABILITIES, MAKING THEM QUITE FORMIDABLE FOES. THE HOLY ORDER INDEED GOT HEADACHES FACING THE MEMBERS OF THE GOETIC ORDER…>>>

"Are you sure that the Red Prisoner was really a demon of the Goetic Order? I mean, what we only saw right now was just a red hand, right?" Tong'er muttered as she spat out her chewing gum. "Maybe you're just being a paranoid sissy."

After saying these words, the angel started to look agitated, as if she was itching to do something to the hand right now. 
Delia and Tong'er noticed this, making these two raise their eyebrows in curiosity.
"Oi you angel. What do you want to say now?" Delia said as let out her tongue. 
Her tongue then started flickering in the air, quite akin to the way that a snake uses its long tongue to taste the air.
"I can taste fear and excitement on the air around you. I can also taste irritation and vindication around you. You seem to have come up with a good idea. Please do tell it to us now."
After Delia said these words, the angel gave Delia a relieved look before she started to talk.
<<<ENVOY, I KNOW THAT IT MIGHT SOUND PRESUMPTOUS, BUT I WANT THIS DEMON TO BREAK OUT OF HIS LIMBO. I… WANT TO BRING THIS DEMON  BACK TO THE STATE OF LIVING! ENVOY! I KNOW THAT YOU DON'T LIKE THAT SOUND OF THAT, BUT PLEASE TRUST ME! IT WILL BE THE BEST FOR ALL OF US!"

After all the things that he had done in his life, Alex realized that it was already his time to die. 

But a sudden encounter with a weird person will turn his whole life around.

Sen landed near the glass cage and his boots was able to break the fall. With his increased constitution and Axolotl Regeneration ability aiding him, the fall was nothing to him. He simultaneously casted a series of soft shroud barriers for the others which assisted them to break the fall.  All of them managed to land with ease in the chaos and started to annihilate the soldiers around them

Malik thought this would be the perfect opportunity to counterattack as he advances to strike against the person who had the worse fall. Yet, Sen was able to block the attack with his Saviour Machete and slide in a side punch on Malik. 

Before Malik was able to swing his sword again, ice appeared on his wrist and weighted his hand down to the ground. A thin blade laid hanging right beside his neck. "Brother, don't."

Mailk looked up and saw Mailee in true flesh and blood. He let go of his weapon and his guard and hugged Mailee despite the chaos all around. "Why are you here, how?..I mean-"  Malik's lips tightened when his sister placed a finger on his lips. 

"I'm here for you Brother, and I am with them to rescue the twins." Mailee lifted her hands and a large wave of ice stopped an incoming horde of soldiers from all directions. Many were killed in the 'Ice Wave Wall' spell which Mailee casted with ease.

"They were the foreigners who Ken defeated and took the twins?" Malik immediately turned his back against the soldiers that were defending with him and killed a few of them. Mailee walked with him as her 'Ice Javelins' pierces the soldiers before they could even react.

Mailee laughed with such pure innocence which Malik had long forgotten its existence. " Ken defeated them? I am pretty sure the Chief Priest of Agni was not updated. They were the ones who killed that corrupted Ken." 

As the siblings unite, Raizan saw observed the incantations on the glass cage. Although there were slight difference in the way of magic, to the hands of the sigma architect, they were all just data. 

Raizan scanned the whole cage and found numerous loopholes on the incantations that he can exploit allowing the party to break the cage and reached out to the twins. He started to analyse the cage's incantation while doing calibration of the incantation of his lightning magic spell 'Overcharge Lightning'. If his calculations were right, 'Overcharge Lightning' will be able to overload the incantations of the glass cage and breaking free of the twins but he had to do it systematically. 

Failure was not an option for both him and the twins.  

Speaking of the twins, they were surprised and amazed to see how grim things unfolded at first. To be able to have contact with Sen again gave them utmost hope. They somehow knew it was stupid to move anywhere from the cage until Sen and the others personally rescue them. "Brother Sen, please save us." Kari secretly whispered. Kura felt her urge and wishes for the same thing too.

Sen took the chance of the large wave of frozen ice blocking their enemies and started his advanced Shroud magic. He took two fate crystals, that was left after previously converting them to fire crystals, and utilised them into his creation of his first advanced shroud magic spell. 

A massive phantom army of goblins. 

He utilised what the system had recorded from the fight of the previous mission and created a magical army, a scale of tremendous size, nearly filling the entire area with the Phantoms. With two fate crystals of immense quality, the phantoms born from the advanced magic was terrifying similar to what Sen had remembered. The moment the phantoms were created, they started slaughtering the confused soldiers. 

"If we do not have the numbers to make up for a fight, we create them." Sen realised the minimap interface suddenly turned into what was like the tabletop game he played before. The minimap turned horizontal instead of the bird eye view and visible physical miniature pieces appeared in front of him.

Once the area was cleared of the enemies, the goblins immediately went into groups as if they were awaiting for orders

Various miniature pieces of goblins which depicted the groups of phantom goblins were allowed to be commanded from the mini map. Sen took one of the miniature piece and move them forward in the grid and that particular formation of spear goblins moved without any verbal command given. 

"User, with the initial usage of your advanced shroud magic, the System has provided means and ways for you to directly control your army and it is named the Saviour Warboard. You are able to directly give commands to your army verbally, physically moving the miniature pieces or using your thoughts to move them." 

"Alternatively, you can use all three functions if you had gotten used to the Warboard. This allows you to fight your enemies while providing the necessary commands to your army at the same time." 

"Amazing, simply amazing."  Sen looked at the sheer size of his army that was waiting to attack at a moment's notice , awaiting the 'Ice Wave Wall'  to be broken by the constant fire attack from Clan Agni. 

Separately, Feng continued to cast 'Strengthen' on the 'Ice Wave Wall', creating more time for Raizan breaking the glass cage, Mailee to catch up with his brother and for Sen to create his Phantom Army. 

Mailee chuckled at the combination of Shiva's chosen champion accessories allowing her to create such a massive circular ice wave wall and Feng's 'Strengthen' ability, causing much difficulty for the Clan Agni to burn the ice wall down. 

Malik finally understood Mailee's intention and decided to join forces with them. He even apologised to Sen for the misunderstanding which Sen quickly acknowledged in order to get back into planning his Warboard. Not a very known fact but Sen was actually one of the best players in the tabletop tournament in his village and this Warboard function finally gave him the ability to have some control of the chaos around him. 

Spear Goblins, Crossbow Archers, Goblin Wolf Riders, Hobgoblins and even the phantom of the Goblin King. The System had analysed and set the attributes as close to the originals with the given resources of two fate crystals. Sen finally set his pieces with a simple plan in mind. The spear goblins making a round circle formation protecting the party in all corners while the Goblin wolf riders waiting to pounce from behind. The Crossbow Archers are in the third layer of the circle formation providing range defence support while the Hobgoblins will rush through the formations and causing major disruptions. 

"What is wrong with all of you? Are you all that weak to not able to burn down this pathetic ice wall? What have I been paying and training of all you for?" Rahul shouted angrily at the entire army with an 'Amplify' spell, allowing his message to be heard by everyone. 

In the meantime, the destruction done by the giant Dune Worms worsen with every passing minute from eating Clan Agni's citizens to destroying the infrastructure of their capital city, Agni Mandir.
Chief Priest Rahul had decided to create a barrier surrounding the palace in order to preserve the remaining sanctity of the ritual and left the rest of Agni Mandir to be ravaged by the Dune Worms. 

Raizan finally completed his recalibration of his spell and weaved a spell barrier around the glass cage. "This is like opening a safelock, except the contents this time are live." Raizan sweated a little before he gave the signal he was ready. 

"Mailee, prepare to remove the formation of the 'Ice Wave Wall' and initiate the second part of the plan!" Sen shouted and Mailee started to her incantations.

"Part 2, Payback." Feng pumped his Saviour F870 shotgun.

The world is at constant war for the new resource, Fate Crystal. Little did they know they are accelerating the fate of their world by causing the end of the days to come, The Apocalypse. Dune walked to Anshika's dorm room calmly, knocked on the door, and walked in. 

Anshika sat on her bed, brushing out her wild red curls. 

"What's up?" 

Dune struggled for words. 

Anshika sighed. "Yes, I can keep a secret, yes, you can tell me, no, I won't tell anyone, yes, I promise." 

With her vows in place, Dune sat on the bed and wove a silence spell over the room.

Then she spilled out everything that had happened today. 

Anshika listened intently, nodding her head at the right times and making faces but not speaking. 

Dune talked about how somehow had almost killed her on Release Day, how she managed to switch bloodlines, flying away and Sundevil in the avian observatory, and realized her wounds from earlier were gone. She brushed it off and continued with the hunt, watching Sundevil kill ten students, her healing herself, and having every element possible. She finally finished when Sundevil bit her and flew off. 

When she was done, it felt like a huge weight had been lifted off her chest. 

Anshika took a minute to think. "I believe that this is a mess and you should probably go to the headmistress. But, I can understand why you wouldn't want to."

Dune nodded. 

"I think you should try and talk to Sundevil. I mean, she's the source of all of this. She would know what's happening. Talk to her and then start thinking. You need all the facts in a situation to be able to make the right decision." 

Dune knows she's right, but somehow dreads the idea of talking to Sundevil.

"What if she bites me again? Maybe this time she goes for a pulse?" Dune asked worriedly. 

"In order to talk to her, she'd have to be a human. And she might have a hard time biting out your pulse as a human." Anshika said flatly. 

Dune nodded. Anshika was right. She would at least get the opportunity to get away before Sundevil killed her. 

It would be fine. 

Dune hugged Anshika tightly before saying her byes and leaving. Now she had to go home. 

Her arm wasn't hurting as much anymore, and when Dune peeked under the bandage, it was no more than angry lines. 

Interesting. 

It meant she could go to class tomorrow.

That was good. 

Professor Glyca might not be thrilled, but there was no reason to stay home. 

Her parents greeted her at the door, fidgeting nervously. When they saw her alive, they rushed forward and wrapped her in a tight hug. 

"We're so glad you're alive!" Her mother exclaimed. 

"Between Release Day and the hunt, we were afraid you might now have made it." Her father said, suddenly emotional. 

"I know. But I'm hard to kill." Dune said with a smile. 

That was far truer than she wanted it to be. 

"What do you want to eat? It's past lunch time, but that never stopped anyone." My mother said cheerily.

Dune smiled. "Hot dogs and beans." 

"Done and done!" Her parents said, sweeping into the kitchen. 

It wasn't gourmet, but it was her favorite meal. 

Dune sat on the couch, trying to make sense of this day. All she could think of was sleep.

She would go to bed early tonight.
