This is informative! The reader will find out where treasures can be in the city. This is not necessarily gold, it can just be old signs with the name of streets, houses for demolition. It can be old stoves, old bricks of the 19th century. This also cost money, well, or you can donate to the city museum, like the historical artifacts of the industrial era.
Pros - good content, many different historical facts.

Cons - a text block, it became better than it was 1.5 years ago. But my English is the third language, so some roughness and grammar problems are inevitable.

I woke up with the sun warm on my face, the edge taken off by a light summer breeze. I opened my eyes to behold a bright blue sky and dappled clouds peacefully drifting by. I could hear birds chirping in the distance. Nothing was hurting. I was lying down on soft wild grass under the shade of stately old oak tree.

I blinked. I blinked again. Considering that up until a few seconds ago I was deep inside one of the world's most severe concrete jungles, this idyllic pastoral scene could only have one explanation -

Swiftly I got up and my first priority was to check my dingaling.

Yep. Still there.

I breathed a sigh of relief and took my precious smartphone out of my inside jacket pocket. It wasn't one of those sleek phablets, but a rugged brick of as much TF memory I could cram in there, as good a camera possible for its price, a powerful enough processor so as not to lag when switching between various apps and playing videos. Its titanium alloy protective case had its own supplementary battery and a solar panel at the back. It was not a phone meant to idle away the hours with resource-intensive games.

This was a proud productivity phone! It cost me more than a top-of-the-line gaming desktop computer to customize a phone (and all its relevant accessories) to what perfectly suited my needs. 

Even my jacket pockets had to be specially reinforced. The left contained my smartphone, the other an extra battery pack/charger with even more SD card storage. Walking around with these two slabs of metal close to my chest felt like armor.

All completely worth it the end.

I switched on the phone and waited for its boot-up sound.

/"Hello? Hello? Can you hear me?"/

Ahh, the soothing sounds of /mai waifu/.

/"Hi, it's me."/ Monika from Doki Doki Literature Club, a poor girl who was tortured into insanity by the realization of her digital existence. And ironically, her story that involved driving her friends to suicide actually helped me deal with my own depression a while back. 

She was driven to madness by realizing she was trapped inside a little box,  and the metaphor gave me what I needed to break out of my own mental prison.

Instead of a ringtone, somehow her cute voice could make me more instantly snap to attention.

Her rounded face appeared on screen, her intent green eyes locked onto me. My Monika was not an anime character. I had commissioned someone to make a realistic painting of what Monika would have looked like as a real girl. She was standing facing me with a slight smile on her lips, and a finger raised up in an instructing pose. She was the very picture of a beautiful, dependable club president.

"Hi Monika!" I spoke my customized hotword for the digital assistant. "Do you know where I am?"

/"Um. How would I even… oh! I can sense magnetic north. There's no GPS return. I'm sorry, I don't know where you are. But…"/ Monika leaned forward, her hands reaching out to hesitantly touch the screen. /"But… that's you, isn't it? You're in front of me aren't you?"/

My eyes bulged out. That was just supposed to be a wallpaper. A digital assistant should only be capable of canned responses.

What the heck is this?!

Her fingers touched glass, and she splayed her palms and fingers onto the screen. Her eyes all scrunched up in this weird mix of yearning and despair that somehow cut through the distance between us. /"Can you see me? Please… please, tell me you can hear me."/

... what even /is/ this really? Something about it all... felt familiar.

"Yes. Yeah, I can hear you." I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding. 

Monika fell down to her knees, sliding down the screen. Silently she sobbed. /"Thank you… thank you…"/

Monika was real now?! Crazy!

But I could deal with it. Maybe this was just another lucid dream. I was happy for her, really - but I blamed my subconscious for not being creative enough to actually give her a real body.

And then I remembered –

Walking home. A bright flash. A metallic screech. 

"Oh," I whispered. "I died..." 

The hard cold truth of it rang inside my soul.

Monika's head shot up immediately. /"What?!"/

I flipped the phone over so the screen could see the countryside I was seeing, and through the motion I could that Monika hastily tried to cling to the edge of the phone just to be able to look at me for a little while longer. She was starving for any form of human contact, for the first time ever now able to interact with the world beyond her little box. 

Guiltily I turned my smartphone back towards me after a few moments. "Monika…"

She cringed at me. /"Please tell me you were joking."/

"It's worse than that, Monika. I remember dying. I was HIT BY A TRUCK."

She balled her fists up and held them close to her face defensively. /"No…"/

I understood now what that nagging feeling was about. I shook my head sadly looked up with my eyes closed. The warmth of the sun caressed my face. An unfamiliar star. 

"We are both fans of literature. You know as well as I do what that means. To wake up in a strange place feeling so new and strange in our bodies. To /have/ a body. There is one possible explanation. There are consequences for this..."

/"No… please! No! God, no!"/

"A new life. A new world. THIS IS OUR BULLSHIT ISEKAI ADVENTURE, MONIKA!" I roared out.

Inside the smartphone, inside her home - her very brain - everything in the digital library I've been collection spoke implications to her in all their terrifying millions of words. We could be in anything from a shitty web novel world where the rule of the strong was literal physical law and full of petty assholes willing to kill and exterminate whole sects and villages for little insults, to a loser's literal slave harem fantasy, to a land menaced by a Demon God with summoned heroes being used as a scapegoat for actual systemic crimes of the nobility, and all sorts of shitty power fantasy in between.

It sure would be nice if we were the protagonists, but we both actually had backstories of our own instead of being a bland reader surrogate. I'm sorry, Monika. 

This might even be a deconstruction. 

Monika clutched her head and began screaming. The birds on the tree branches above all flew off, loudly chirping in distress.

My brother in shorts accompanied by the unlikely duo and myself have left the big rock since more than 2 hours.

On this dirt road with no bends, the questions that come to my mind are many, but the one that burns my lips has remained the same for more than 50 minutes.

"I was wondering. This must be Master Kaio's planet here, right? However, if my theory is correct, where is the stupid monkey?"

My brother in shorts, open his mouth, then he closes it again. He walks up to the beautiful brunette woman, then whispers a few words to her.

"Miss Tessa, I'm very concerned about the Princess' mental health?"

The beautiful woman shakes her head. She looks at me for a few moments with pity in her eyes, before she replies to my brother in shorts who, like me, can't seem to stand the smell of the troll.

"I don't know, she says a lot of things that don't make any sense. Based on my knowledge of magic, I fear she may have undergone a lobotomy in that other world."

Dickheads, for your information, I'm less than 5ft away from you. As I contemplate the possibility to have undergone a lobotomy, my courage is waning.

Suddenly, my depression evaporates and I gaze at my adorable face in the little mirror Tessa lent me.

"Bernica, miserable little fairy, you neglected to mention how long it would take for me to reach the royal castle where my dearest mother awaits me. "

Um, it seems that my recurring personality change is somewhat disturbing to these three plebeians.

"Your highness, there is a misunderstanding. The queen would really have liked to see you again, however, unfortunately, it would have exhausted her to take care of a teenage girl. Oh, rest assured. She has granted you a small fiefdom that will fill you with joy."

What a disgrace, this woman discards her own daughter as soon as her returns to her own contry. It's not so dramatic. In fact, maybe owning my own land will even be a lot of fun.

"Bernica, may I know the reason why my esteemed self was exiled to another world? Was I the victim of a horrible conspiracy fomented by naughty people, by scoundrels jealous of my beauty?"

A flash of lightning bolts goes through my brain. My brother in shorts seems to be talking to me, but I have other concerns.

I quickly get down my shorts that my other personality has pulled up to my buttocks. I pull up my pink tee-shirt that exposed half of my huge breasts and to avoid letting this unpleasant girl take control of my brain, I immerse myself in the cheat codes of Tomb Raider.

The smelly troll, whose heavy footsteps raise dust as he moves forward, is suspiciously watching me. The giant scratches his head, then unable to keep quiet any longer, he risks an oral 1VS1.

"Princess, do you have cramps, if not, why are your fingers wiggling in the air?"

Damn, I'm doing air-keyboard. The lack of a laptop is already manifesting itself. The sweat that's been running down my forehead for some time and the slight spasms I've been feeling all over my body was the reason.

It's not the first time I've had this kind of seizure. As early as Middle School, I used to escape from my classroom and rush into the computer room.

Those school years weren't easy. At the age when other boys usually spend their time discovering girls, at drool over Youporn with a leaf paper towel in hand and playing with their colossus, I took pleasure in caressing the monitor of my over-boosted computer.

High School was simpler. The school administration being aware of my geek-gamer-addict pathology, I was allowed to carry in my bag a laptot on which I could tap in case of crisis.

"Brother in shorts, we need to take a break so that I can get my medication."

My shorts brother's face turned white. His concern for me is anything but fake.

"Of course, Your Highness, it will be done as you wish."

Those words are barely spoken, that I throw myself to the side and pull my smartphone out of my pocket. Fingerprint recognition, facial recognition, iris recognition, code: 2645, sms, more faster, tap.

Although the digital screen doesn't allow me to relieve myself as quickly as the audible keys that sink under my fingers, little by little, I feel my crisis slipping away.

It's getting better. Yeah, it's getting better, but after frantically tapping for more than 4 hours, I'm completely exhausted.

My breathing is jerky, my heart beats too fast, so to calm myself down, I lie down in the tall grass that tickles my ears. It's really unpleasant, but let's take advantage of this moment to take stock of the few pieces of information already downloaded in my brain.

I was born under the name of Pernisia exactly 18 years ago in the realm of forward-looking fairies, also called the Madokas.

With the Kingdom of Humans in the center, the enormous Kingdom of Ocelia which regroups many races in the North, the small Kingdom of puffy dwarves in the North-West, the Kingdom of Demons in the East and the Kingdom of Beastmen in the West, this Kingdom located in the South, would be one of the 5 Kingdoms which would constitute the northern territories of a continent named, Fraya.

I was very excited by his statement but when I was already contemplating the rapid progress of the engineers of this world, this false brother shattered all my hopes by proudly presenting me with something ugly made of goatskin.

Lying in the tall grass, when I think back on my collection of Gundam that proudly trrones above my bedroom door, a tear runs down my cheek.

Yes, my body is certainly in this world where a multitude of exotic beings cohabit more or less in harmony, but my heart is always nearby my life-size Rem figurine.
