A grandpa who doesn't have long to live(?) found an interest in the newest VRMMO introduced by his grandson and the definition of the mage needed to be rewritten after that.

Finally it's breaktime, I should probably go to the cafeteria to get some sandwiches since I only ate a slice of bread earlier this morning. I saw Seth sitting at a table near the exit of the cafeteria, I nudged him and he looked up at me.

			"Have you seen the set list Lev?" he asked me. "Yep! Felix handed it over earlier before our English Literature class, we've got a few songs to practice tho. Last night was really tiring, imagine we had to play 15 songs then people started requesting for more. I actually thought they won't stop asking after the 5th one." I complained to him.

			"I guess that's how it is bro, we need to get as much supporters as we can and you know that." Seth replied back, and I just shrugged. I'm about to finish my sandwich and head back to my next class so I told him I got to go. "See you at lunch break so we can discuss for the gig later."

			Seth has been one of my closest friends ever since high school, we have been covering a few songs from different bands mostly pop rock in genre. While he plays the piano I do the guitars and after a few covers we got discovered by a talent agency to which we have been working for up to this day. The two of us can both sing, same as with Felix and Dylan whom we both met when we were in 2nd year at the local high school where we have been studying. I got along with both of them really well and that's when we started to form this band called "Au Revoir".

			Felix plays the drums while Dylan plays the bass guitar, Seth still plays the piano while I play the lead guitar, I mostly do the vocals along with Seth while Felix and Dylan does the back up vocals for the band. We have also been busking along the streets of Rivendell for a few years now. I really do love performing and making music, I enjoy it a lot. It's just that sometimes I can't avoid complaining because of the hectic schedule the agency gives us every week. They might have forgotten that we are still studying, and that we also want to finish our courses on time.

			I went to my next class which is Sociology, I found Felix already seated on his desk when I entered the room. The professor hasn't arrived yet so I just decided to listen to the songs for the set list later, after a few minutes our professor came running through the door since he's already late by 10 minutes. He asked us to introduce ourselves in front of the class, I didn't notice that I was the next one and so I almost tripped since I was rushing to get this introduction thing done.

			"My name is Lev Aiken, 17 years old, I am from a band called "Au Revoir", pleased to meet you all." I quickly went back to my seat, catching a glance from Felix. He was the next one after me, he stood up and went in front of the class. "Hi my name is Felix and I am 17 years old, I play the drums for the band "Au Revoir" along with Lev as our lead guitarist, hope you can come to our gigs and support us!" He was smiling enthusiastically at our classmates, I could hear a lot of whispering from the girls inside our classroom.

			One girl says "he's cute", the other one says "look at his dimples" and can't stop giggling, well what can I say Felix is really good looking just like me. As I was daydreaming a bit, I realized that all of my classmates are done introducing their selves. The professor started to discuss about the introduction to Sociology, beginning with its definition. He called us one by one and asked us to give some of the characteristics of one of our closest friends. When the activity was done, he gave us some homework to research about.

			The next class would be College Algebra and I'm going to see that Nayi girl again. If you'll ask me what I think about her, well she's pretty simple, "plain" I guess and she actually looks so fragile, she'll look better if only she'll try to fix her hair and also fix her composure everytime someone is talking to her since it seems like she always gets lost in her train of thoughts.

			The bell started ringing for the last class before lunch. The professor walked in and she looks really strict while wearing this thick glasses. She started to talk about the grading system for the subject then asked us to introduce ourselves. Here we go again I thought to myself, I don't really like telling people things about me and I prefer to be alone. After all this introduction, she gave us a simple activity to work on and since I finished it early she told me that I can already leave the class.

			I got out of the door, went straight to the cafeteria where I'll be waiting for Seth, Dylan and Felix. After a few minutes, I saw them walk through the door and waved at me. I got up and ordered some food for myself which I then paid for at the cashier, I went back to our table and decided to wait for them so we can start eating.

			When they got back, Felix was already red as a tomato while Seth was also laughing at whatever joke Dylan said to them. We started eating after the laughter died down and finished after about 30 minutes. That's when we started talking about the set list and decided to listen to some of the songs that we are unfamiliar with.

			Me and Seth would split up the song and sing alternately, usually Felix and Dylan would do the back up vocals. After arranging our parts for the songs, we would think of ways to add our own style to it so that those who are listening would be able to hear a distinct or unique approach to the song. After lunch break has ended, we decided to proceed to our next class and reminded each other about our practice after class which is 3pm.

Amaka Nwafor was by all definition a disappointment to her parents. She refused to study medicine as she was instructed; squandered her allowance and worse of all got pregnant at just 19years of age, by a Yoruba boy no less.

Oh yes, Amaka was the blackest of sheep and her parents never let her forget it. Because there is nothing worse than a wild child that started off mild. Amaka grew up obedient and submissive in the Igbo Catholic home she shared with her five siblings. Her father Chinedu Nwafor was an oil tycoon who harboured fantasies of running for office. His wife Ulonna Nwafor enforced her strict rules with a regimen to shame military boot camps. Boys to Men were akin to Satan with their baritones of fornication; form fitting clothes signalled End of Days and make up invited a sponge scrub. Television viewing time was restricted to Tales by Moonlight and Speak out and Kidivision 101. The mere mention of the Spanish soap operas such as: Secrets of the Sand, Wild Rose, or The Rich Also Cry were grounds for beating and prayer interventions. So Amaka lived within this environment and passed her teenage years without a tantrum or a raised voice or a slammed door. That was till she was put on the plane to England.

It began in Manchester University when Amaka denied her offer of Medicine in favour of Psychology. The allure of philosophy, biology and sociology suited her background too perfectly to pass up. Psychology was based in asking why. That was a privilege Amaka was never allowed and she revelled in it. It was a strange new world to her, one where her parents for the first time had no control over her actions or beliefs. It was invigorating, like the first scent of sea after years of drought. In her second semester she met Nabila in a crowded lecture hall and they became partners in a group presentation on Communication Skills.

Then Nabila met Jamal and as those two became joined at the hip, Amaka was left alone with Jamal's course mate Femi Coker. The Politics and International Relations student found Amaka annoying. Because she hardly ever spoke a word and when she did it was straight out of a text book. It seemed she never had an opinion of her own and clung to her rosary like a life line. But she came with Nabila and Nabila was stuck to Jamal and Jamal was his friend. To cope with the vast amounts of time they were left alone Femi cultivated the habit of teasing her. At first it was just something to do, and it was fun. It was too easy with Amaka providing material as she knew nothing of Popular Culture. How could she never have heard of TLC? There was her dress sense which resembled that of a convalescing patient, and the fact that she never had a retort. Femi began to look forward to seeing the antique and sometimes kept insults on reserve just for her. 
As a guy he never saw the boundaries drawn in the sand till Amaka burst into tears one late afternoon in March. Without the common decency to run into the bathroom as girls usually do she sat there and wept till Femi really felt ashamed of himself. Nabila returned and took her away; Femi saw neither of them for a month and when he found out Jamal's relationship was suffering as a result he appeared in Amaka's hall with flowers to grovel for forgiveness. Insisted on taking her out to dinner to make amends and somewhere between the cab ride and the paying the bill Femi saw Amaka in a different light. He had never seen anyone so appreciative of pizza and crispy chicken before. Amaka gazed at their surroundings like it was a candle lit Italian restaurant on the banks of Venice and sipped on her cola like it was a fruity full bodied red wine. At the end of the evening he knew he would insist they be more than friends...

Amaka relayed the story to her children this morning, as she did most days when they insisted on hearing about daddy. She believed they savoured the tale because they recognised every character; that way daddy was more real. Naturally she left out the party animal she became and the drastic make over that occurred as a result of it. Femi's interest gave her the confidence to relax her hair, wear slinkier outfits and loosen up. Those days of double dating with Nabsy and Jay were the happiest of her life and she loved Femi with a conviction as blind as faith. Even with his flaws and obsession with money. Even as his get-rich schemes investments drained them both of monetary resources, leaving gaping holes in grocery and phone bills. Amaka never stopped believing in Femi and remained his biggest supporter long after his charm wore thin on Nabila and eventually Jamal.

"I Did It. I Finally Did It." A Cheerful Voice Says. 
"I Alyson Karnes Have Made A Andriod. And That Andriod's Name Is... Is... I Don't Know What Name Her.  But I, I, I, I Can't Believe That After Years Of Making Her, She's Ready To Go Into The World." Dr. Alyson Karnes Says While Walking Around.
"And It Only Took Me 12 Years." She Said With Her Arms Crossed, Grin On Her Face, Eyes Closed, Nodding Her Head.
"Okay, Let's Try This. We Have To Figure Out A Name For Her Greco." She Asked Her Loyal Flying Circle Robot. "What Should We Name Her?" She Asked Again
"A.R.I.N, We Should Name Her A.R.I.N." Greco Replied.
"I Was Thinking Beatrice But A.R.I.N Is Much Better." She Said Hitting The Little Robot.
"Now What Should, A.R.I.N Stand For, Greco?" She Asked Robot.
"I Do Not Know, Make It Up Yourself. I Am Going To Sleep. Sayanora." Said The Little Robot. And Pretty Soon He Quickly Disappeared. 
"Oh Come On." Dr.Karnes Said.

"A.R.I.N? A.R.I.N? A.R.I.N, Are You Okay?" She Asked Confused.
"Oh, Duh I Have To Press Her Power Button," She Said Slamming Her Hand On Her Face.
She Moved Up 2 Steps Up To The Android Lying In A White Chamber, Grabbed Her Head And Pushed The Power Button On Her Neck. The Android Woke Up. Its Eyes Blue, Hair Brown with a Few Blond Streaks, And Light Freckles Across Her Body. She Looked Beautiful. Dr. Alyson Brought Her Out.

"Okay. Smartness, 100. Beauty, 100. Athletics, 95. Strenth, 97. Emotions, 0. Sickness, None. First Name Arin. Last Name? None. Weakness, Not Being Able To Eat And Water Including Water, Rain, Snow, The Ocean, And Other Liquids. I Might Wanna Add The Eating Part. Brain, None. Heart, None. Lungs, None. I Think We Are Done." She Smiling.

"But I Still Want You To Be Able To Be Like Be A "Normal Human", But How Do I Do That? Wait, I Can Send You To School In New York, Where My Mom And Younger Brother Alex Lives. You Can Stay There Because Right Now I'm In California, And I'm Going To Canada Pretty Soon And I Don't Want You There. Wait, I'll Have To Get You An Airplane Ticket. Guess I Gotta Hack Again." She Said Walking Around Her Lab.
"Wait, Dr. Alyson, Why Can't I Go To Canada With You?" Arin Asked.
"Because Androids Illegal In Canada, Duh." She Said With A Pen In Her Mouth. (Yes, Androids Illegal In Canada)
Dr. Karnes Was Typing Letters On Her Laptop And Numbers. It Was Obvious That She Was Trying To Hack To Get Arin A Plane Ticket.

3 Hours Later A Black Man With 3 Tattoos On His  Came As Soon As Dr. Karnes Was Done With Her Hacking. "Hello, Are You Arin? If You Are Then I'm Smith. If You're Not, Get The Hell Out Of Here" He Asked Her.
"Yes, I Am, Nice To Meet You, Smith," She Said Cautious
"Wow, She Totally Looks Like A Real Human." He Said In Awe To Dr. Karnes.
"I Know Right?" She Replied.
"When Are You Going To Change Your Design For Your Lab? It Looks Someone Came And Yeeted All Of The White In The World In This Room." He Said Jokingly.
"Please Stop, Or Else I'ma Yeet You Out My White Lab." Alyson Said. 
But Smith Was Right About Dr. Alyson Karnes Lab. It Was White From The Chairs To The Rug To The Computers To The Walls, The Floor To The Beakers To Her Shirt.
"Seems Like Dr. Karnes Really Likes White." Arin Thought.

"Okay, A.R.I.N, I've Packed Clothes, Money, A Phone, Some Perfume, Your Charger That You Need To Plug Into Your Neck For At Least 5 Hours, And Your ID All Into This Suitcase." She Said Carrying  A Huge Brown Suitcase. "Oh, And Smith Is Going To Take You To The Airport." She Said As Arin Got Into Smith's Car. 
"Wait, Arin, I'm Going To Miss You So Much. Call Me When You Get There, Okay?" She Said Pulling Arin Into A Hug.
The Past Week, Dr. Karnes And Arin Had Been Spending Time Together, Trying New Food, Going To Places, And Visiting Dr. Alyson's Freinds.
"I Will. Bye Dr. Alyson." And With That Arin Pulled Out Of Her Hug And Got Inside The Car.
"I Hope She'll Be Safe." Dr. Karnes Said Watching The Car Disappear Into The Road
