"Must you really do this?" Kalhil asked Raziel for the nth time, his usual calmness replaced with intense worry. The coven lord rolled his eyes as he scoff at his eldest's concerns.

The supposed coven leader has been cooped up in his office, acting like they are joined by the hip. This unexpected behavior by his eldest warmed Raziel's heart. He finds it amusing how his eldest tails him with that serious expression.

"Of course. My little companions are already preparing for 2 days. We all leave at dawn. I must prepare too." Raziel got up from his work chair, walking towards his full length mirror, his black robe flutter at every step.

Taking one last look at his reflection, he used his nail to draw out blood from each of his palm, clasping them together.

'Rhydian's height is just below my shoulder. This would hurt. Shifting bones always hurt.' Raziel smirk as he remembered ordering Aude to shift into a much smaller animal. 'Life needs harsh lessons.' Raziel thought as he compressed his bones, copying Rhydian's stature.

The sound of bone compressing into a smaller body size filled Raziel's office. Kalhil, feeling queasy at the sight, avoided to watch the transformation.

"Still traumatized by the little dungeon fiasco that idiot pulled?" Raziel fondly glanced at his oldest orphan, amused by his uncomfortable expression. Kalhil just bit his lips as a reply making Raziel laugh.

The coven lord shakes his head as he face the mirror, studying his look. Drawing out more blood from his palm, Raziel wiped the blood across his eyes, closing it to let the blood sink in. As soon as he opens his lids, the unique orbs turned into ruby red.

"Be a dear and summon Rhydian." Kal nods as he disappear out of thin air.

"Master!?" A chirpy voice echoed making Raziel glance back. "You brought your things?"  He asked. Rhydian frolicked to his master's side with sparkling eyes.

"You're!" He gasped as he stares into the ruby red eyes. "It's almost complete. Drop your blood in my palm." Rhydian did so by pricking a finger on his fangs, letting the blood drip to the open wound.

He blushed as he watch Raziel mix their blood together before bringing it into his mouth to taste. The silver locks slowly turned into dark raven as the strands glisten. Rhydian marveled at the sight as his master's features slowly mirror his.

"A twin!" He clapped. "Are you sure you copied my looks? Why are you still more. . ." Raziel laughed as he witness the little vampire's face flush in embarrassment.

"Let me braid your hair!" He offered instead, trying to change the topic, as he pull his master towards the armchair. Raziel let the little vampire have his way as he felt a gentle touch on his hair. Back in his time, a long haired prince meant he is next in line. It was custom to cut the hair short during the coronation. However, this opportunity was robed of him.

In this generation, Raziel do not know if such a custom is still put into practice. The only reason why he kept his hair at knee length is revenge. He wanted to taunt Levant, 'I'm still the real heir.'

"Master, I'm almost done!" Rhydian gushed as he near the end. The little vampire knows his overly familiar behavior would be frowned upon by the whole coven. The more time he spent with the coven lord, the more he had the courage to act intimately.

Just touching this person's hair is enough to make him smile. 'This little one always makes my mood better. Is he aware I could hear his thoughts? Is he doing this on purpose?' Raziel chuckle as he watch the vampire fondly.

'Master is looking at me!' Rhydian tried his best to stay composed despite Raziel's flirty look, but frowned as he felt a prickling sensation at his side. He paused braiding his master's hair, tracking its source, revealing Kalhil's cold stare.

Raziel immediately felt the change in the atmosphere, his finger tapping the armrest as he watch Rhydian's sullen face. 

"Kal, store his luggage in the storage along with my little Aude's." Kalhil glanced at Rhydian before making a small bow, disappearing into air.

"My apologies dear. I have such overprotective orphans." Raziel dismissed with a chuckle. "I'm not used to Kal being like that." Rhydian answered honestly. Kalhil was always a gentle yet serious person for the little vampire, receiving such look from the coven leader scared him.

"He. . . I . . Oh! I heard the baby witch is coming along with us?" The little vampire tried, changing the topic to lift the sour mood.

"Yes, he'll be our little pet." Raziel mused.

'That little witch, he can do anything once he puts his mind into it. I heard he managed to master shape-shifting within the day? Seems like getting permission from Deva Sinclair is more of a challenge.'

"Meow." Speaking of the devil. Kalhil reappeared after a few minutes carrying a small kitten with a dirty blonde fur and light brown eyes.

"Oh?! Is that the baby witch?" Rhydian tied the end of Raziel's braid before frolicking towards the cute kitten. Immediately snatching it from Kalhil's hold. "It's so fun to see witch craft." He cooed while combing through the fur.

Kalhil glared at the perky vampire before walking towards his master. He clicked his tongue as he try to fix Raziel's hair. "Kal, leave it be. You're done loading the storage?" The coven lord held Kal's hand pulling him to sit on the couch next to him.

Kalhil made sure to stock all his master's essential in storage so he could have access 24/7. As much as Kalhil is against the idea, he had no choice but to let his master go. Good thing Rhydian wasn't entirely cooped up inside the academy for too long. At least he had the ability to guide them.

Glancing at his master's travel companion, still reluctant to let Raziel enter the kingdom. He feels uncomfortable to leave the safety of this coven's lord in the hands of a vampire and a sheltered 'halfie'.

"I'll cut off the link between the protective dome and dungeon while I'm gone." Raziel started, snapping Kalhil out of his thoughts. Noticing Kal's unfocused eyes, Raziel leaned in pulling Kalhil closer. Even snapping his fingers in front his oldest orphan to get his attention.

"Make sure to warn our people about this. To keep you guys safe I've been creating a new incantation where we could add additional layers to our protective dome. For now, I can manage 5 layers. However, I have not had a chance to test its effects. My theory is people will get fried if they attempt to enter."

"Raziel don't worry about us. I'm more worried about you." Kalhil gripped his master's hands as he stare at the unfamiliar ruby red orbs.

"My dearest Kal, I'll be fine." Raziel steeled his heart as he lightly push Kal's hands off his, standing to avoid that genuine concern.

"Little ones, let us depart."

She had just spoken when the doorbell rang.
Li Xing'er's agent and her assistant came in with an apologetic look on their faces.
"I am sorry, so, sorry that my dumb assistant has ruined your gown."
Jolin gritted his teeth. "Did you do it on purpose or accidentally? You know the real reason clearly."
Weiwei was a newcomer and Li Xing'er was also a newcomer in the film industry, even if she had made some TV-series before.
If the two of them showed up at the film festival together, they would be compared.
Li Xing'er understood that she was not as pretty as Weiwei, so she ruined her gown so she would not be able to appear on the red carpet.
"Agent Jolin, she truly did not do it on purpose. We will compensate for the laundry fee." Li Xing'er's agent said.
"Get out of here!" Jolin swore in annoyance.
Li Xing'er's agent glanced at the assistant who was also in tears as she made the apology.
"I am sorry, Sister Wei, I did not mean purposefully, I am truly sorry…"
Gu Weiwei did not want to spend any more time on them, so she said, "Just leave, you can't do anything about it."
Li Xing'er's agent and assistant said some more "sorrys" before leaving the room.
Jolin took a deep breath, picked up the bag and left the room.
"Just wait here, I will see what else I can find."
There was so little time left, and the two had still wasted their time.
In the meantime, Li Xing'er's agent and assistant returned to the room as they wiped away their tears and said with a smile, "All is done, they are looking for a replacement now."
Looking at herself in the mirror, Li Xing'er smiled coldly.
"Nothing good will come of it, especially if they are seeking in a hurry."
She had spent so much money on getting the latest version of a custom-made gown, yet Jolin had found a designed gown created by an expensive couturier.
Mu Weiwei was a foxy-looking person and with some makeup, she would become more brilliant than she was.
Now without a gown to wear, she was unable to attend the film festival.
"There is only one hour left before the entry hour, and they may not be able to find a replacement." The agent said sinisterly.
Of course they did not spill the coffee over the gown accidentally.
They had made the assistant wait for a long time until Mu Weiwei's assistant showed up and did it on purpose.
They had planned to make Mu Weiwei unable to attend the film festival.
Even if Jolin could find her a gown, it would not be a good one at all.
Li Xing'er smiled and put on the exquisite gown with the help of the assistant and the makeup artist, beaming in satisfaction.
After sizing her up, the agent praised her.

"Li Xing'er is going to wear the same style. If I put this on, we will be in a breast size contest." Gu Weiwei said helplessly.
Most importantly, there were traces of kiss marks left by Fu Hanzheng on her breasts from last time and she just could not put such a dress on.

After his makeup was done, Su Jingting was carefully checking out his outfit in front of a mirror.
Assistant Sun thought he was unhappy with the clothes the sponsor provided. Something similar happened in the past, where Su Jingting refused to shoot due to his dissatisfaction with the clothes. Assistant Sun was cautious as he went up to him and asked, "Director Su, do you not like the clothes? I'll have them changed for you right away…"
Su Jingting shook his head. "Contact the sponsor and order a few sets of clothes for me. I want casual attire."
Assistant Sun hesitated. "… Sure, I'll arrange that right away."
'Doesn't Best Actor Su only wear branded, custom-made clothes? The sponsored clothes are just for publicity. They're cheap. Men who are in love are so confusing.'
Best Actor Su went to the shoot as well after he was done checking himself out in the mirror. He was close to the shoot, so he could just barely see Xia Yishan's back.
Having just ordered his clothes, Assistant Sun happened to see the Best Actor watching the girl's back like a stalker when he turned his head. He went over and stood next to him to avoid people noticing his behavior.
'Stop making me worry about you.'

"Cut!" Director Sun stopped the scene in time, interrupting the people who were indulging in the duo's performance.
Why was it cut when the performance was so good? They were immersed in the scene.
The scene of the handsome man and the pretty girl's first love was incredibly beautiful. With the burning desire in their eyes, they had shown the feeling of being in love.
Director Sun called both of them over. He rolled the script in his hand and slammed it on another palm. He said sincerely, "It's good…It's too good…"
Xia Yishan stared at Director Sun's serious expression. He did not look like he was being sarcastic. Su Jingting, on the other hand, understood what happened the moment the director said to cut.


“Best Actress Xia, do you have a boyfriend?”
“Best Actress Xia, do you know that Director Han wants to court you? Will you say yes to him?”
Xia Yishan rubbed between her eyebrows. “No, I don't know anything about that. No comment, thanks.”
As the crowd clamored on, a tiny red book fell out of Best Actor Su’s pocket. A nearby reporter picked it up. “Good heavens! It’s the marriage certificate of Su Jingting and Xia Yishan!”
Su Jingting went to Xia Yishan and grabbed her round the waist. He said to the reporters who asked the questions earlier, “She doesn't have a boyfriend but a husband. Tell Han Zimo to stop dreaming.” 
‘Hey, hey, hey! What happened to keeping our marriage a secret?!’

He opened his eyes, he used the back of his hand to block the sunlight as Sarah opened the curtains. 
"Morning Luis" She gave her sweet welcoming smile. 
   "Don't tell me I'm at the hospital. " He placed his hand on his bandaged head. Sarah smiled, she placed her hand on his left cheek 
  "were you here all night? " She nodded.
"What about my mom? "
"I told her I'd take care of you" She gave her lazy teasing smile. 
"Thanks" He sat upright. Scullard entered with John
"Good morning Luis" Scullard smiled. 
"Did you guys track them? "
"Who? " Asked John. 
"I threw a magnetic tracker at their helicopter, did you track it? " He said more serious. 
"You didn't tell us Luis"
"Maybe I passed out. " He got up from the hospital bed, and took his shirt. 
"And where do you think you are going? " Sarah asked. 
" To track that helicopter.  Come on guys let's go". 
They got to the department, Luis reported everything he witnessed, Sarah tracked the helicopter down to the heliport.
    The port manager  reported the helicopter went missing last night. He removed the tracker from the helicopter. 
"What now? " John asked. 
"Elliott stole the helicopter, in case we track it, we'd track it down here. Smart" 
Scullard saw a man through a car side mirror, he hid behind a wall, listening to thier conversation. He gave Luis a sign, he looked at the mirror. The man felt he had been seen, he brought out his gun, and took few steps backwards, John pointed a gun at him. 
"Your hands were I can see them"He shouted. Luis and Scullard appeared with thier own gun, the man dropped his gun. 
"Who are you? " Luis removed his sun glasses, and slide it down his pocket. 
"I work here" The man answered. 
Luis opened two buttons of his shirt, and folded his sleeves. He released a strong blow on his face, John and Scullard held the man firmly. The man spat out blood. 
"You have no right to lay your hands on a citizen!  I'd sue you all!" He said when the pain subsided.  
   Luis released another blow on the left chin. "Talk! " He offered two more pouch, he fell. They raised him up again. Luis brought out his pistol.  "If I repeat myself again, I'd drop a bullet at your leg. 
"Please stop, I'd tell you"
"Speak! "
"I was hired by Elliott to bring a helicopter to the Rivers mansion, he offered me Two million dollars. "
"So you are the one that helped them escape! " He released another blow, it went directly to the mouth. "
"Where is he now? " Scullard asked.
The man spat blood. " I swear, I don't know " He cried. 
" Cuff him! " Luis ordered. He  was cuffed, and arrested. 

"Why didn't you kill Mr Betsey? " Mr Ross said with a frown. 
"Detective Luis and his team went to his house before us. They were prepared this time. " Elliott said. 
" I want that man dead, he is a treat to my business. "
"Relax father, he'd be dead before 48 hours. The police would be very alert, they'd protect him at any cost. "
"And then how would you get him killed? "
"I have to distract the police, expectually Luis. We'd move to the next victim, Mr Betsey would be a big distraction to the FBI. It'd be easy to kill the naval commander"
"Good work son, we'd get profit without stress if the naval commander is dead. We need full access to that Caribbean seaport, and other ports. 
"How do you want me to execute this mission? "
"I heard that the naval commander would be visiting the navy base...I want you to capture him alive and bring him to me. I want him to die by my hands, a slow and painful death."
"Consider it done father" He left with a smile. 

Mrs Rivers took the first flight to Chicago, Mr Betsey stayed at the department, he has unfinished business with the FBI. 
He was at the General's office, the general asked him questions. 
"Do you have any rival?  Has someone posed a threat of any sort on you? " General Huskey asked questions after question. Mr Betsey's leg was crossed, he leaned his back on the sit, and ran his fingers on the chin. Without the mustache,and wrinkled eyes, which made him look older and wiser, one would've suspected him to be years younger. 
"No General, I don't. But I think Custom Alexander does. "
"Who? "
"Custom  Jaynes Lanigan. They are not in good terms, I'm having bad feelings about that man."
"Do you suspect him to have a hand on any of these? "
"Wouldn't say yes for an answer, but he has violated many rules since he robbed custom Alexander as the port commander of the Los Angeles CA, and Huston TX. His position was approved by the court, we have zero interference on how he runs the port. He was trying to get complete ascess to the Caribbean port, before custom Alexander died. "
"Which port are you in charge of now?"
"I took over custom Alexander's ports, his shares are registered under his daughter's name"
"Now, has custom Jaynes gotten attorney for the Caribbean port? "
"No, the navel commander had shut the port down from every operation, till custom Alexander's case is finalized."
"Is that why you ordered those ships to stay ducked on Los Vegas port? "
"Yeah" 
"Mr Rivers, we would find out if custom Jaynes is responsible for this. With what you've told me, there's hundred  percent possibility. "
"Thanks General. I shall be flying to Chicago any moment now,  Luis was right. This country isn't safe for me."
"What about the ports? "
"Los Vegas port is shut down, I'd operate the other two port from Chicago. "
"I'll send the DCI, and CEO to seek help from the naval base to find out what's inside that sanked ship, and get more information about the Caribbean port, and custom Jaynes. " He smiled. "I wish you safe journey to your family Betsey" He smiled again. They hugged each other. 
It was late, Elliot and his three best men arrived at the naval base, they were on black. They made thier way quietly, killed naval officers on guard, they used silent snipers to kill those on the observation point. They made thier way inside, to the chamber. They heard  voices. Elliot looked through the window, he saw Luis, and his team. They we're discussing something with the commander. Two officers stood behind the commander, as they talked.  He came down. 
"What's wrong Ross? " Arc asked. 
"Luis and his team are there. Change of plan, we have to kill the commander and get out from here".  His men nodded. 
He droped his backpack, brought out the silent sniper, he connected the pointer on the sniper, and climb back. He lowered the gun on the window. With one eyes closed, he aimed at the commander. He didn't care about the outcome if he misses, he wanted the commander dead at all cost, and had never missed his target. The pointer was at his forehead, Luis was sitting opposite the commander. They were talking about how they'd get below the Caribbean sea, to know the content of sanked ship. He saw the pointer on the commander's forehead. 
"Get down! " He shouted, the commander was quick, he fell on the ground. The bullet killed one of the naval officer that stood beside the commander. Elliot kept firing, this time without the pointer. Luis turned the table over, they took cover. They fired back as Elliott reloaded. He jumped down, Luis gun triggered the attention of the navy officers. 
"Dammit! " He shouted. "They are after us, come on, let's leave here."
"Is he dead? "
"No, I missed. " immediately, a loud siren blew. 
"Block all exits! units, take your positions! " The loud microphones said repeatedly. 
Luis took a riffle, he still had his two pistols with him. He went after Elliott and his men. The commander was next after Mr Rivers on the death list. Elliott seems pretty determined to capture the commander, better still kill him.
    He released the first bullet, putting Elliot and his men on the run. The naval officers went after them. Some went to the observation point with snipers. One of Elliott's man was killed. Arc and kyle stood with Elliott, they were professionals. They killed most of the navy officers single handedly. Elliott is a professional killing machine, he kills smoothly and skillfully. He taught of a way to escape, but Luis didn't give him the chance. He shot at any chance given. He didn't aim to kill him at the spot, he wanted to teach him a lesson, before the court desides his case. Scullard,  john and some navy officers escorted the commander to his underground layer. He was heavily guarded. 
The naval base was built on the sea. The sea links to the Caribbean sea, and other sea port in USA. 
The fire exchange was intensive, Elliot threw grenades, and massively reduced the number. He entered inside the commander's yacht, Luis saw him, but Elliots men held him off. 
They fired guns at him, he took cover. Elliot followed the stair quickly to the base of the yacht. He saw two speed boats, he drove one out of the ship, he fired bullets to hold Luis back as his men entered the speed boat. 
"Luis and his men are escaping on a speed boat, blue in color stop them! " He called. Soon, dozens of navy officers went after them with speed boats. Luis threw his riffle, and brought out his two pistols. He entered his own boat, and went after them. Bullets rained on Elliott's boat, klye got shot at the hand as he tried to shoot back. They bent thier heads, as Elliott drived. 
"We need to think of something, this speed boat would explode at any moment. ". Arc shouted.  Kyle's hand was tied to stop the blood. 
"Hold on tight, I'm gonna confuse them. Jump into another boat when I tell you to" Elliott shouted. 
    He quickly turned the speed boat towards the navy officers direction. They took some clean shots, and took separate boats. 
He threw a grenade on the other boat as he jumped off. The grenade exploded four boats, other speeding boats, collided forcefully. The impart was rapid. Only five boats out of twelve made it out from the danger zone. Some of the navy officers jumped into the sea, to save thier lives. But still didn't make it. This gave Elliott and his men a bit of gap before Luis appeared towards that point  of the five boats, still running after Elliott and his men, which were now on separate boats. They called in more boats for the pursuit. But they we're limited in number. Apparently, four boats. They were able to hold Elliott  and his men for a while till Luis showed. Thou, they reduced in number.
    Kyle's boat was distroyed by the rattling bullets. He  climbed into Arc's boat. He shoots as he drives. Luis went  after Elliott, he released his bullet towards him. Elliot lowered his head, and skillfully made a sharp turn.  He splashed water on Luis face. Lots of water entered his eyes, he lost control. There was a strong collision between his boat, and the other navy officers. 
Elliot escaped with his men. He drove to a distance, and stopped the speed boat. Arc packed beside his boat to find out why he stopped. Elliot held the left side of his belly. 
"What's wrong Ross? " Arc asked. He didn't say anything, he removed his hand. He was bleeding seriously. 
A bullet from Luis's gun stroke his left side. He mumbled some words, and fainted. Arc and Kyle carried him to thier boat.
Luis and the other survivors were rapped with thick towels. He was given hot coffee, to get himself warmed up. 
Elliott's phone rang, Arc picked it up. 
"Speak! "
"Sir, it's done. Mr Betsey Rivers is dead! " Arc smiled, and cut the call.

When her brain cooled down, she couldn't help but laugh again.
Perhaps it really was an ill-fated relationship.
Every time she was with Fang Shaoan, she always felt very happy and different.
He was like a piece of cake. Before tasting it, he could restrain himself from eating it. He could even confuse himself. This cake must be very unpalatable.

"I really wasn't," Aden said quietly.
"Oh, Aden-" He cut me off.
"I was black." He said.
"Black?" I raised my brows.
"Yes."
"Why the fuck does that make a difference?" I was so utterly confused until I remembered how black people were treated. "Wait...Aden...what time period were you on Earth?"
"1870's"
"Oh, Aden. You wouldn't know...but later on slavery is basically outlawed in most places."
"It is? I only heard about Abraham Lincoln and how he was gonna do it."
I laughed.
"Well, I come from the 21st Century and it's gone there in most places, but seriously Aden I don't give a fuck whether you're black. Shit, you could be fucking green and I would still treat you like family." I said with a smile.
"I thank you, Kobe." He said. "I would smile, but I am a snake."
"Pfff." I started laughing heartily.
After laughing with Aden I went to look for Oh MeMei again. Still, I couldn't shake Slavery off my mind. I was sure it existed. That thought in itself, made me feel disgusted.
I sighed.
It was something that happened. I also knew there was no way to change someone who grew up with the knowledge that there was nothing wrong with doing it. Especially if they viewed them as not only property but an investment.
The only real solution I could think of was right. I knew slavery couldn't go away overnight because it was also a custom to these people, but if I was able to give these people rights...but to do that, I would have not only to be in a position of power but of influence and I seriously didn't have any interest in that.
Then I saw Oh MeMei back in the kitchen.
"Hey," I spoke as I knocked on the door frame.
She turned toward me.
"I feel it's time to tell you who I am."
He stopped what she was doing as I sat down in front of her.
"I'm not from this world."
"What do you mean?" She asked.
"I transmigrated here after I died in my world."
Her eyes got big and then she knitted her brows.
"It's fair to not believe me, but I want to show you," I said as I struck out my hand.
She took my hand and together we entered my memories. I still had no idea how I was able to do this, but there was no way I was going to question it.

THIRTY MINUTES EARLIER
"we are going to be dividing you guys into groups of three in order to complete the obstacle course. Everyone one of You has two minutes to pick your group members so chose wisely because this course is custom made to test each attributes that every one of you fall under. We will be testing your strength, intellect, reflexes, mental sturdiness and psychosis, endurance and teamwork. With that being said start forming your teams" says the instructor of the training exercise talking through a mounted wall speaker from behind a two ways mirror
"Pol...Polar...Iris...Polaris" one of the kids standing in front of the two way mirror playfully sliding his finger on the surface circling his face which coincidentally was in the same position as that of the instructor which made him uncomfortable as it made him feel like the boy was circling his face knowing his exact position even though he couldn't see him.
A weak looking kid with messy blond hair, a serious slouch and a cut on his lip. Continuing with his word play and circling a girl walks behind him disarrayed as she tries to get members for her team but ignores or doesn't see him atleast. 
He takes his eyes away from his own reflection to look at hers on the mirror
"you—you want to form a team?" he asks
Surprised at the voice and words the girl quickly turns back facing him
"my God I swear I didn't notice that someone was here. What did u say?"
"I said do...you...want...to... form...a team?" still looking at her via reflection
Finally he turns around speaking with more confidence now "In twenty eight seconds everyone would have solidified their teams but that's just for formality because everyone here were already in teams socially speaking way before this exercise so I doubt that you are going to be able to win any favours" He pauses for some seconds to swallow saliva 
"eighteen seconds, so what is your answer"
she looks at him and thinks to herself "he might have a point there but look at him, he doesn't look very strong if at all, maybe he is a reflex class nah I doubt that from the way he slouches, intelligence maybe but he doesn't look very smart, he looks dull eve—"
" eleven seconds"
"Okay okay, alright... Let's form a team"
"Good and with nice nine seconds to spare"
"Ya whatever, so Mr smartie shoulders what are we going to do with our third member with only seconds left, everyone is already grouped and we need one of strength class in order for this to work"

With his head bent down and eyes closed for a second his stature suddenly began straightening become taller and more imposing, shoulders became firmer and broader, chest spaced forward as he raised his head with an inhale.

Trying to fix the changes that has already been made in the world a young individual uses his intellect and the systems provided to do so

"Yuu, it's time," said a well-built man approached Yuu, who was sitting on a rocking chair.

"It's that time already, Hiroki?" Yuu questioned while glancing at the digital clock on the wall. It ticked from 22:59 to 23:00.

The well-built man's name was Hiroki, a personal custom-design Ageha-human of Yuu. He was designed based on her favorite voice actor who she had a crush on for as long as she could remember. 

Getting a custom-design Ageha-human was as hard as becoming a billionaire in this new world. You need permission from the creator to receive one. You also can't purchase it with money. It was brought by useful information and viable research. The worst part was not every research and information would be valuable enough to receive a custom-design Ageha-human.

Even Yuu sacrificed her research in exchange for her own custom-design Ageha-human, Hiroki.

"Life is hard," Yuu sighed. Hiroki lifted Yuu and headed toward the bathroom.

"Why is life hard?" asked Hiroki, puzzled.

"That's a good question, Hiroki. Why life is hard..." Yuu sighed even harder. Hiroki put down Yuu on a small bath chair; the sensor on the wall detected Yuu and started to spray water.

"I am here with you, to help you with everything. You can depend on me." Hiroki extended his hand to grab the scrubber, pinched the body soap liquid, and started to scrub Yuu's back.

"I know you are programmed to say so. I totally know. But I am happy to hear you say that with those low voices of yours." Yuu turned back and brushed Hiroki's face with her hand.

"You know what, I requested that voice as well. Since I can't have the real you." Yuu turned away from Hiroki. Hiroki continued bathing Yuu despite the sour atmosphere.

The clock ticked from 23:39 to 23:40. The bathroom door opened, and Hiroki hugged the sleeping Yuu out and put her down on a soft cushion in front of a mirror. The mirror suddenly extended a hairdryer toward Hiroki, and he grabbed it and blew Yuu's hair.

"Please don't fall asleep with your hair still wet," said Hiroki. He brushed Yuu's hair with his hand while blowing with the hairdryer.

"Let me sleep, I'm so tired." Nodding off, Yuu answered. Hiroki bent over towards Yuu and kissed her lightly on the lips. Yuu opened her eyes and stared at Hiroki. Then, they exchanged deep kisses and the light went off...

After a world war and an infectious disease ravaged the world, humanity had lost more than 75 percent of its population. In order to survive, humanity has created human-like robots called Ageha-humans. Humans cohabitating with robots with emotions and their own thoughts, how will it end?

While the Larkinsons outside the pirate stronghold began to resist some of the darkness, the interior of Ulimo Citadel began to grow bleaker and bleaker!
The darkness slowly bred some strange grey apparitions. Driven by cruel instructions, these ghosts that took on the form of deceased pirates hunted down every human inside the public marketplace.
The grey ghosts easily managed to fell the many shopkeepers, technicians, administrators and other ordinary workers that called Ulimo Citadel home. While a portion of these native Nyxian residents were armed, their lack of combat training and poor equipment failed to keep them alive for long.
Only the Nyxian residents who banded together or sought shelter from a friendly gang managed to remain alive for some time longer.
However, each person that grouped together also brought their enemies along. The pirates who sheltered the lightly-armored residents out of friendship discovered that their group needed to fend off a lot more grey ghosts than before!
Though there were some odd pirates at Ulimo who possessed uncorrupted hearts, many other pirates straightforwardly ditched their useless baggage.
Anyone who wasn't strong enough to repel the grey ghosts wasn't worth bringing along!
The streets and structures of the public marketplace became filled with dried and lifeless husks. The deaths of thousands of Nyxian residents and pirates underscored the great price that needed to be paid to sustain this dreadful anomaly.
In fact, even the Dry Snakes and other pirates faced attacks as well! The grey ghosts did not possess the ability to discern their opponents. They attacked innocent bystanders, hidden enemies and friendly pirates alike!
Fortunately for the latter, Grand Protector Roshaw always insisted that all of his subordinates be equipped for battle as frequently as possible.
The half-prepared pirates easily fended off the sporadic ghost assaults, though the same could not be said for the subordinate forces of the Dry Snakes.
Much of the Xona Stalkers, Farmund's Own, Rapid Qlinters and the outfits that comprised the Ulimo Militia had been completely caught off-guard!
Though many of these pirates wore armor and carried weapons regardless, much of their support personnel did not, causing them to die unjustly!
In order to keep this powerful move as hidden as possible, Grand Protector Roshaw told no one about the deal he made with the Watchers of the Hallowed Abyss Temple.
Though many allies of the Dry Snakes and the Grand Protector grew furious, the constant attacks by the grey ghosts and the communications blackout prevented them from conveying their discontent.
At the heavily-defended security checkpoint that barred most people on Ulimo from accessing the restricted center area, an intangible cat quietly phased through a wall.
Lucky, clad in his Misfortune Harness, carefully stalked forward. He kept most of his body phased through a solid object, taking care only to peek out his head in order to observe his surroundings.
A lot of large machinery filled the interior of walls. Large power generators, capacitors, regulators and other equipment all made sure that the large turrets placed outside remained in working condition.
What discomforted Lucky somewhat was the large amount of pirates on guard. Armed and armored pirate infantry vigilantly patrolled the interior while technicians and experts constantly kept their eyes on the integrity of the various weapon systems.
Sabotaging these systems without triggering some sort of alarm was impossible. All of the previous targeted sabotage were planned ahead of time. The Black Cats prepared custom hacks and specific suggestions on which components to break or tamper with in order to deactivate a system without exposing to the pirates that anything was amiss.
Since the Black Cats never intended to sabotage these checkpoint defenses, Lucky had to resort to blunter ways to deactivate the deadly turrets.
There was one condition that made it a bit easier for Lucky to do his work without interruption.
The ghosts that assaulted everyone inside the pirate base also plagued the pirates here as well!
The Dry Snake guards were well prepared though. Each technician wore combat armor or at least a protective hazard suit and the abundant number of guards prevented the few ghosts who spawned inside to do any serious harm.
"Careful with where you are shooting!" A foreman warned a couple of guards who just shot a ghost. "I told you time and time again to watch the direction where you are shooting your guns. You almost shot one of our power connectors!"
"Sorry, boss."
Between the occasional noises of weapon discharges, Lucky silently phased through the floor until he reached underneath an important power generator.
Having sabotaged many similar models of power generators, the stealthy cat did not need to know the actual design of this device to destroy it from within. His claws briefly phased back into the material realm, allowing them to destroy several important processors!
Alarms immediately began to ring. The power generator kept working as normal as its backup processors and other systems provided some crucial redundancy.
"Meow!"
If destroying one part was not enough, then Lucky would just have to take out the backups as well! He briefly searched around until he finally eliminated the other three critical processors!
Without the processors keeping every system under control, the power generator automatically initiated its emergency shutdown procedure. Unless the pirate technicians replaced one of the broken processors, the device would stay shut!
Though it wouldn't take that much time to get the power generator back to work, Lucky hastily moved on the next important machine. He needed to sabotage as many defenses as possible in a very short amount of time! It didn't matter if the pirates were able to repair some of the damage within an hour, because Ketis and the Mirror Raiders didn't intend to stall so long!
As the last major defensive system went down, some of the pirate guards who shot down yet another annoying grey ghost still remained on high alert!
The ghosts only cared about killing people. They never targeted any machines!
"Wait, what's that?"
"MEOW!"
"Ack!"
An armored pirate officer clenched his neck as a swift energy claw had cut straight through the gorget of his combat armor that shielded his neck! Blood poured from the horizontal cut as the man quickly collapsed.
"We're under attack!"
"What just killed him?! I didn't see anything?"
"My suit sensors detected some sort of black cat!"
The pirate guards quickly became disarrayed as they tried their best shoot and guard against the black cat that relentlessly launched guerilla attacks against them. Sometimes, laser beams or ballistic rounds passed through his phased body, which made it increasingly harder for him to maintain his current form.
Eventually, Lucky momentary couldn't hold it any longer as he endured too many laser attacks than he could bear. Once his body fully phased back into the material realm, half-a-dozen attacks struck the surface of his armor!
Due to the thin Breyer alloy plating of his Misfortune Harness, the cat suffered no meaningful damage. Even so, the repeated physical rounds impacting his frame kept interrupting his course and constantly pushed him back!
"Meow! Meow!"
As dozens of pirates all focused their firepower on bullying the black cat, most of the defenders failed to discover the approach of a squad of pirate soldiers.
The squad approached vigilantly, but kept their weapons expressly pointed away from the defenders. The alloy armbands and other markings on their armor signified that the newcomers were members of the Ulimo Militia.
The pirates on guard against the grey ghosts pointed their weapons at the approaching group.
"Halt! This checkpoint is off-limits to anyone except authorized personnel! Unless you have orders or the right permits to pass through, get out of here!"
"Wait, don't shoot!" Ketis's armored form stepped forward. She even slid her helmet open in order to expose her face. "Ever since these dark clouds appeared around us, the streets have become dangerous! All of us had to fight past hundreds of ghosts in order to reach here. Can't you let us in? We're part of your militia! We can still fight!"
The patrol leader expressly pointed his rifle into Ketis' face. "Stop right there! Don't get any closer! You militiamen don't belong here! There are hostiles in our midst and we don't need trash like you getting in our way!"
"Can't you make an exception for us? We're the Mirror Raiders! Our mechs helped fend off the Larkinson Clan earlier!"
As Ketis kept stepping forward despite the urgings of the pirate leader, a couple of ghost pirates emerged out of the dark fog. Armed with cheap rifles, the ghosts shot at both the Mirror Raiders and the pirate guards on patrol.
Without receiving any orders, the pirate guards all shifted their aim towards the attacking ghosts and took them out within seconds.
Even though some of the ghosts that appeared attacked the Mirror Raider soldiers in the rear, none of the disguised Larkinsons turned around to wipe out the apparitions.
Instead, the Mirror Raiders immediately took advantage of the distraction afforded by the ghosts! They pointed their rifles at the pirate guards they had already marked and fired their rifles without hesitation!
"Ahh! Traitors!"
"Have you gone crazy?!"
Though the pirate leader reacted the fastest and brought his rifle back to bear on Ketis, his target had already closed her helmet!
Instead of shooting her opponent with her laser pistol, Ketis instead charged forward! Her upgraded Red Rising Dragon fearlessly withstood every attack as it rapidly allowed its wearer to reach within knife-fighting distance to the pirate leader!
A sharp cutlass swung and cut off one of the pirate leader's arms!
"Ahhh!"
The combat armor worn by the victim hardly offered any resistance against Ketis' attack. With just a single swing, she managed to disarm and cripple the pirate who refused to allow the Mirror Raiders to step forward!
Her momentum didn't halt. An instant after cutting off the arm, her armored bulk collided against the pirate leader's lighter suit of combat armor. The unfortunate collision victim immediately bounced backwards and slammed against a wall!
"Die!"
Ketis fearlessly chopped the closest pirates around her. With each swing of her cutlass, she always managed to cut through the armor of her opposition. While the Dry Snakes equipped their foot soldiers with better gear than usual when it came to pirates, none of them offered any meaningful resistance against a woman with vastly superior gear and combat training!
Blood splattered in every direction as Ketis single-handedly spread panic throughout the ranks of the pirates. Her fellow Mirror Raiders managed to shoot down their targets with greater ease as a consequence!
In just thirty minutes, the Larkinsons wiped out the entire pirate patrol!
"Don't slow down, men!" Ketis called as she swung her cutlass at the side. "Lucky is still keeping them busy. Let's go and wipe out the rest!"
She didn't wait for her fellow Mirror Raiders to move forward. Instead, she utilized the full capabilities of her upgraded combat armor and charged forward with indomitable might!
Though no pirates were near, she snapped up her other arm and fired the compact laser pistol that Ves had gifted her beforehand.
