WALK AND BENEFIT 

 

 The human body is made to walk. 

 Walking 30 minutes a day cuts the rate of people becoming diabetic by more than half and it cuts the risk of people over 60 becoming diabetic by almost 70 percent. 

 Walking cuts the risk of stroke by more than 25 percent. 

 
 

 Walking reduces hypertension. The body has over 100,000 miles of blood vessels. Those blood vessels are more supple and healthier when we walk. 

 
 

 Walking cuts the risk of cancer as well as diabetes and stroke. 

 
 

 Women who walk have a 20 percent lower likelihood of getting breast cancer and a 31 percent lower risk of getting colon cancer. 

 
 

 Women with breast cancer who walk regularly can reduce their recurrence rate and their mortality rate by over 50 percent. 

 
 

 The human body works better when we walk. The body resists diseases better when we walk, and the body heals faster when we walk. 

 
 

 We don't have to walk a lot. Thirty minutes a day has a huge impact on our health. 

 Men who walk thirty minutes a day have a significantly lower level of prostate cancer. Men who walk regularly have a 60 percent lower risk of colon cancer. 

 
 

 For men with prostate cancer, studies have shown that walkers have a 46 percent lower mortality rate. 

 
 

 Walking also helps prevent depression, and people who walk regularly are more likely to see improvements in their depression. 

 
 

 In one study, people who walked and took medication scored twice as well in 30 days as the women who only took the medication. Another study showed that depressed people who walked regularly had a significantly higher level of not being depressed in a year compared to depressed people who did not walk. The body generates endorphin's when we walk. Endorphin's help us feel good. 

 Walking strengthens the heart. Walking strengthens bones. 

 
 

 Walking improves the circulatory system. 

 Walking generates positive neurochemicals. Healthy eating is important but dieting can trigger negative neurochemicals and can be hard to do. 

 
 

 Walking generates positive neurological. People look forward to walking and enjoy walking. 

 
 

 And research shows that fit beats fat for many people. Walking half an hour a day has health benefits that exceed the benefits of losing 20 pounds. 

 
 

 When we walk every day, our bodies are healthier and stronger. A single 30 minute walk can reduce blood pressure by five points for over 20 hours. 

 Walking reduces the risk of blood clots in your legs. 

 
 

 People who walk regularly have much lower risk of deep vein thrombosis.

Some authors in chat talked about a book's worth. 

Most agreed that its value depends on the readers' willingness to pay for a novel. And the most selling here in WN are romance and h e n t a i.

Honestly, it is true in a sense that most authors who don't write these two genres or have the general audience receive lesser income to none. However, there are also other genres that are popular.

What saddening is that a story which has no s** will be buried deep in the list of books.

One time, a person told me that he won't read books without s**. I think you understand what I mean.

Sad... 

Those good literary authors will just choose Amazon. I totally agree with that.

But, is that what really makes a book valuable? So, the authors will just resort to writing stories with s**  since most will welcome it.

I feel sad if it is.

I've been reading and watching epic and classic stories like Mary Poppins, The Twelve Kingdoms, Fushigi Yuugi, The Vision of Escaflowne, Star Wars, Anne of Green Gables, Pride and Prejudice, Little Women, and others. 

These are great books but I'm not sure if the new generation is still reading them.

Hoping they are.

So, what is the worth of a writer? Of a person's storyteller's heart and creativity?

Will it just be buried deep in isolation? Will it just be following the flow of readership and abandon its desire to produce good stories?

I disagree. We still love good stories. There are still more readers who love good reads. In fact, these type of stories are more engaging and imploring. Those epic stories won't be called epic if no one reads them anymore. They are classified as such because their worth is beyond trends.

They simply go against the flow and create a tsunami, leaving people awestruck.

That is the type of book I want to write. I prefer to be remembered as an author who writes good stories without compromising the principles I believe.

Don't get me wrong. There are still good books with a bit of those s** things out there that you can read. But they don't focus on those scenes but on the story itself.

I am a person who never follows trends. And I care less what people call me. I will rather be true to myself than to follow the crowd and lose my self-respect.

In my opinion, the worth of a story is not only on the business side but also on how much heart and effort the author gives to his/her books.

To authors: Let us enjoy writing good stories. Let us be proud of what we write for not everyone can be authors. And not all writers can finish a book. The truth, most books here are unfinished.

To readers: Support good books and give the authors that confidence to continue writing good stories. Without your support, the authors might give up. If no one read good stories, then there's no point on writing one. But I believe most readers still love those type of books.

The Sorceress' Heir: Blossoming Youth and Power

"Is that so?" Seungwoo's face suddenly turned pale, "Then why are the lights still flickering?"
My face turned blank as I tried to process the whole thing. The remote control was already in Seungwoo's hands. Even though he wasn't doing anything with it, the lights keep on turning on and off.
What on earth is happening here?
The lights stopped flickering, I stared at Seungwoo intently, and he was still there facing the door. All I can see is his back, but it seemed like he was calmer than before. I was the one who did the ghost prank, but I guess I got pranked by the ghost instead.
"Kim Seungwoo," I slowly approached him and tapped his shoulder. "Did the ghost do that?"
Fear was suddenly creeping up. He was still silent, and all I could see was the back of his head and his prominent jawline. The air conditioner suddenly went really cold, it was supposed to generate heat because of the cold season. Seungwoo slowly turned around, his dimples were now unseen, he was wearing a poker face. He simply stared at me as nothing happened.
"Hey," I tapped his shoulders again. "Answer me, please?"
He was staring at my face for a few seconds until it seemed like something behind me caught his eyes. His eyes widened as he tried to point out something behind me using his trembling left hand. His eyes described something he shouldn't have seen, and as if I was hypnotized, I turned around to look at where he was pointing out. 
 I felt scared. I scanned everything that appears in my sight but saw nothing. Everything was in the same place. I couldn't see any shadow or any soul. All I could see were the tables, the chairs, and the air conditioner. For some unknown reason, I felt really scared. Chills ran down my spine as if all of my senses awakened. Every time I hear the hissing sound of the air conditioner, I got the shivers again, this time with the little goosebumps on my arms that appear when I get that sensation.
I turned to look at him again.
"Got ya," he grinned, showing off his dimples playfully, and stuck out his tongue. "I got ya, Suji."
For some unknown reason, I had the urge to kill this handsome man who has the most beautiful dimples right in front of me.

"Did you get scared?" Seungwoo asked as he tried to tuck his seat into the desk. I am standing in front of him, near the whiteboard as we have compromised that I should present all of the chosen quotes before he recommends a place that we will visit.
"Do you want a beating?" I replied nonchalantly as I crossed my arms and legs, trying to express annoyance all over my body. "Let's start to do business now, we want to end this OT before lunch, right?"
"Yes, Miss Li." The playfulness in his voice disappeared as he put on his poker-face. 
I started my PowerPoint presentation with some of the quotes that caught my attention when I was proofreading the book. My laptop was just beside the projector on the table. I got a whiteboard marker in my pencil case and started emphasizing the five quotes that were shown on the screen.
"How should we emphasize that one," He started to get serious as he was observing all of the quotes being presented, "You can't choose your parents and most variables in your life. There are only two things that you can choose and that is your job, and your partner. Think carefully and love yourself while choosing what is best for you."
"Hmm, what do you suggest?" I looked at him in the eye, trying to find some ideas from him.
"What about a happy couple on the beach?" He paused and thought for a few seconds, his left hand was clutching his chin. "And a person doing the most enjoyable job in the world,"
"What would be that most enjoyable job in the world?" I asked as my head tilted towards the right.
"I don't know yet," He smirked, almost resembling that of a snort. "We have to go to the streets to find it out. You know, we should capture the most real emotion that we can find wherever it is."
"Okay," I started to write them on the whiteboard. "I'll take note of that."
"I mean, as a photographer and designer," He started rambling. "We should always prioritize the raw and purest emotion we can find to make the book more relatable--"
"Yes, yes," I replied abruptly.
"Are you trying to ignore me because you got scared with my prank earlier?"
"Well, partly, I guess?" I replied. "I mean, how can you joke around like that? You shouldn't have been a designer/photographer, you should have been an actor in this life. You deserve a Grammy award,"
"Thank you so much," He gave me a lopsided grin, stood up, and clapped. "I am so handsome and good at acting, I could have majored in the Theatre Arts Department,"
I crinkled my nose as a response, "Yes, yes, your majesty. Stop getting ahead of yourself now, okay?"
"Isn't it funny that your prank failed and you got pranked instead?" He teased me again, showing off that playful grin and his dimples. "Sorry, I am not scared of ghosts or anything so you failed big time.
I felt a vein might pop if we continue this conversation. Lesson learned, don't ghost prank others if you get scared of ghosts yourself. But I mean, I am not that scared of ghosts, the situation was just really scary.
"I am curious about how the door slammed when you were near me, and why were the lights flickering so much?"
"I don't know," He shrugged. "I didn't know why. I told you that there's a ghost here in the meeting room, right?"
Goodness, gracious. Why would I be scared of a ghost when I am not a normal being myself? I am a mermaid, for goodness sake, I am acquainted with sea witches, fishes, sirens, and I am sure that the world does not limit only to those beings.

"Is my fate already written according to the stars or do I create my own destiny?"

Li Suji only has one hundred days before she turns twenty-five, and that also means she only has one hundred days left to find her reincarnated prince. She has no clue about the said man aside from the fact that she'll find him working at the Seo Publishing Company, and that the reincarnated prince will also have the same birthmark as she has, the mermaid's tail binds them together as the fated couple. She managed to enter the company as a trainee editor on probation as she heard through connections. Chaos arrives when she got tied with two CEO's at the same time. A scene suddenly came right through my eyes, as if it was directly right in front of me. This time, I was aware that I was not experiencing it firsthand though it still happened from my point of view. I was there, tending someone, probably a man. I was unbuttoning two buttons in his shirt because he was sweating too much. I was holding a wet towel in my hand and started to wipe his neck using it.

"It tickles, why are you wiping my body so lightly?" The man asked, it seemed like a very familiar voice but I couldn't pinpoint who. I wasn't looking at the man since I was so preoccupied with looking at his perfectly sculpted body. "You shouldn't be doing that, no-no, you should do it the hard way."

"H-huh??" The hard way?

"Yes, should I do it instead?" He sat up, unbuttoned his shirt, took my hand, and guided me to wipe his neck down to his chest, abdomen, navel until his pelvis, "You should do it like this, okay?"

As I was trying to hide the embarrassment of touching his body---I was touching the man's body with a towel, something caught my attention. Lower than his navel but the upper right side of his pelvis, I saw a mermaid's tail's fin. I scooted over, held the garter of his pants, and pulled it downwards.

Voila. It was the mermaid's tail. Perfectly the same as mine. He's the one that I am looking for. I don't doubt it. I am one hundred percent sure! He's the reincarnated prince that I am looking for, for so long.

The man grabbed my hand and made me look at his face. Sadly, I couldn't see who he was clearly. "What are you doing to a sick man's house, not to mention pulling his pants? Do you want to get yourself in trouble?"


Yes, that's right.


I'm already in trouble.

This story focuses on the reality of the workplace setting (office romance), slice-of-life, rom-com with tiny bits of fantasy elements. The setting is in modern-day Korea, I am not a Korean native so there might be some things that are not 100% accurate nor does it reflect the society and the country alone.

The story focuses on character development and how the main characters grow in terms of love and life, has cliche and is a slow burn romance.

An insight about the book 'Refuge' with Sajla Anees

"Refuge is a compelling story of love, faith, hope and perseverance in the war-torn Syria."

Ms. Anees is a Sri Lankan based Attorney-at-Law and a Published Author. Initially she started writing a few paragraphs in her college days and she takes the footsteps of her favourite authors by bringing this story to life. She feels relieved because she wanted to publish this book before death overtakes her.

As Sajla passes her life with 'rain, coffee and books', she had a very supportive family and helpful friends who were excited in her venture. In the process she learnt that people who love her are supportive and selfless; some of them helped her in ways that she never thought they would.

Writing a character isn't easy because you have to bring your imagination to life. There is a variety of goodness when it comes to a person's personality and one of them is Ahmar. As she sits at her desk penning down Noora's point of view, she edits the chapters 4 to 5 times until there are no grammar mistakes and she is satisfied with them. Alhamdulillah! Sajla has got all good comments and a few negative ones which she disregards in a beautiful way with the help of God. "When you do something for the sake of God then you shouldn't worry much about what people have to say" says Anees.

We encounter self doubts and hardships, Alhamdulillah Sajla has her close friends to talk with and help her. One advice she would like to share is that 'not everyone will like what you write, if it's meant to reach their hearts, it will.' Making Du'a has always been her "go-to" coping mechanism.

Sajla is reluctant to collaborate with other authors because she feels she wouldn't be able to give her best. A new book wouldn't be coming soon because Sajla hasn't found any inspiring topic yet.

Anees likes working according to a routine and in her monthly plan she had set goals on word limits for each day. A writing quirk of hers is that she thought about her characters even when she wasn't writing.

I met Sister Sajla at Sakeenah Institute, my workplace where she had come to deliver a spiritual lecture and I love her level of faith in God, she inspires people to follow the religion. *Alexa's POV*

So I was in our library. No one had told me about it otherwise I would have spent most of my time in here.

I was wrapped in my blanket waiting for Elonzo to show up. I would have expected him to be here before me, but I guess that wasn't going to happen.

There was a book sitting on a table next to my couch, so I picked it up, ready to have a flick through it.

The first few pages had aesthetic quotes on the which made me eager to see more as I loved quotes.

As I turned to the fifth page, my eyes widened a bit in horror. Just in the middle of the book was a hole in a shape of a gun, all the other pages we like that too.

It was as if I were in one of those school cheating hacks or 'how to use your phone in glass' hacks, just that this time it was a 'How to hide a gun.'

I was just shocked because my third time having to see a gun this close, it was just really unexpected.

Footsteps were to be heard. I turned around to see Elonzo waking in.

Oh no, oh no, oh no no no.

I quickly looked scared - for the fact that I already was didn't quite make it hard.

Horror flashed in Elonzo's eyes for a millisecond when he saw what I was holding.

"E-Elonzo," I stuttered,"W-Why is t-there  g-gun?"

Elonzo immediately roughly snatched the book that held the gun inside it out of my hands.

"This," He began,"Isn't ours. It belongs to one of Blake's friends who had come over last month. He still hasn't taken it and I'm afraid I'll have to force Blake to drive to his home and return it."

I nodded, fully knowing that Blake wasn't going anywhere. 

Elonzo fixed his coat and seated himself in front of me, staring intently. I forced to look into his never ending cold black eyes, I longed to get the gentle ones back.

"Alexa, Ryder and Tyler told me everything," He paused for a moment to watch my actions,"I want to here it from you."

I didn't want to tell him that I had stayed up all night crying because of a person whom I would never talk to get, that I barely got enough sleep and that I had lost control of myself.

"Alexa, I expect an answer," Elonzo said, his voice hinting a bit of annoyance.

I searched my mind through not finding a simple excuse. The memories and thoughts from last night just came rushing in. 

There was a lump in my throat and my eyes got blurry once again, I shook my head. Instead of getting comfort from Elonzo like Will had, Elonzo slammed his fist on the table in front of us making me flinch and let my tears flow.

"Gosh damn it Alexa!" He yelled in frustration,"Why do you always have to cry at little things! Why can  you just answer my question and obey me!?"

My hands trembled as I fiddled with the edge of my blanket as I listened to the bomb blast in front of me.

"Why do you always have to act like you own the world, and like you don't care about anything, about us?!"

That hit me. I always acted like I don't care, but deep down I knew I did. Always.

The 'Always' just wanted to make me cry harder.

"Just go to you room. You're grounded and I'm taking your phone away!"
