The Book of Ruth is named for the Moabite woman who commits herself to the Israelite people by an oath to her mother-in-law Naomi and becomes the great-grandmother of David by marriage to Boaz of Bethlehem. Thus she is an ancestor in the messianic line that leads to Jesus.

The book portrays the love and loyalty of human beings in working their way through tragic circumstances to participation in the community of the faithful people of God. The key is responsible and loving decision-making: Ruth’s loyalty, her generosity and her willingness to take risks for the sake of righteousness set in motion a chain of beneficial events, while behind the scenes God blesses each step in the developing drama. Ruth is so frequently designated “the Moabite” in the book that the audience of the story is constantly reminded of the universality of the embrace of salvation.

"Don't stop, Ruth. Run, run!" Thea yelled again while moving her hands.

Before Edwin turn her around and get a chance to see her face, Ruth pulled her hand up and jabbed his nose.
Edwin wailed in pain as he felt his nose go numb with pain. Instinctively he freed Ruth to cover his nose with both hands. He bent over a little as his eyes watered because of pain.

"You!" He hissed in anger as he leapt again for Ruth. But she managed to run before he could catch her again.

Her head turned around in shock when Edwin's hand tore her dress when he tried to grab her. It also surprised Edwin as he had not intended for this to happen. He looked up from the piece of cloth in his hand to see gorgeous hazel eyes.

He stood rooted to his spot as his mind went blank. Ruth managed to get out of the property and ran with Thea without looking back.

The guard came panting, but Edwin didn't notice him as his eyes were still trained at the gap in the wall, through which Ruth escaped.

He slowly looked at the brown fabric in his hand, and the image of those alluring hazel eyes flashed in his mind. He clutched the fabric tightly in his hand, and the word left his lips in a whisper.

"Ruth!"

 Ruth had been attending school for the past 4 years now. Children would start primary education at age 5. It was an obligation for parents or guardian to do so, even orphanage children were provided education, subsidized by the government.
 Ruth was eight years old currently. In regards to the core education material, it would be reading, writing and basic maths. After that would be complex maths and science. The entire school program would last until one reached 16 years of age. Continuing on from there, the graduates would either decided to work or further study in the field of their choice. Which usually meant finding a suitable mentor, instructor or professor.
 For those who had physically enhanced talents, they could further themselves as knight, army units, adventurers, forgers— to name a few.
 For those who had magic talents, they would be able to go for transcription studies, magic arts, magi craftsman, magic professors and the likes.
 In between the two were plenty of jobs that anyone could do, such as farming, cooking and teaching.
 The morning session of school was where the students were taught core educational materials, and it wasn't something that Ruth enjoyed. What she would look forward to was the afternoon session to her school 'puke blood', don't mention that name. 
 During the afternoon sessions, students would be split into two groups, depending on their respective talents. This was an opportunity for Ruth to learn and practice magic— something she would drool over.
 Today, seated beside Ruth wasn't her usual friends, but Curtis. More precisely, it was because Curtis sat at the very far back, Ruth too decided to change her siting position accordingly.
 Gyrostones, gems, crystals, parchment transcription scrolls, spellbook display, graphs and note charts. All these could be found in the so-called magic-lab. Since there were over a hundred students present, the magic faculty had been divided into 4 separate classes; Curtis and Ruth being in class 3.
 While Ruth had her spellbook ready placed on the table, Curtis was— or had been writing note drafts sporadically since yesterday. It has been on like this every chance he got. He didn't look too good, staying up the whole night before, fatigue settling in, slight anxiety could be seen on his face.
 Besides that, there were many curious glances being sent Ruth's way, which made her feel quite uncomfortable. She wondered how her big brother was able to casually ignore all these laser beams.
 Th teacher in charge of the third class of the magic faculty came in, and everyone made a unison greeting, childishly—
 At least that was what Curtis thought, still feeling that blood rising up to his throat every time he thought about returning to a kindergarten-like setting. Actually, he had never been to kindergarten.
 The next thing the teacher did was taking attendance, calling out each student's name one by one. Curtis almost missed his turn, not noticing the teacher calling him as he was too absorbed on figuring out a solution to a certain issue—
 Ruth lifted the pages of her Spellbook open one by one until it reached the page containing the repertoire for the fireball spell.
 The homework from the previous class was— to hold a small ball of flame at the fingertips. Most students had already achieve the level of creating a small speck of fire, no problem. The next step after that would be to effectively direct and control the flame. In this regard, most students would struggle to keep a flame stationary on their finger, or worse, they even burnt themselves.
 When the teacher told the class to show her their results, many students failed to build the appropriate the size, others were unable to control the trajectory of their flames. One of the students had accidentally generated a mutated fire where it emitted a weird chlorine-green glow. The moment the teacher saw that, she extinguished it immediately with a shot of condensed water.
 Among the students in class, Ruth was known to be the cream of the crop. Excited, she focused her attention intensely. What appeared to be a speck of flame crawled up her index finger, multiplying in size. Whereas most would only achieve a quarter of the size, Ruth was able to conjure up a flame at least two inches in diameter, and not have her hands burned in the process.
 The Teacher Lily smiled at Ruth, which led her to notice the peculiar boy sitting beside Ruth. The new student. He was apparently, scribbling something? He obviously wasn't paying attention to class.
 "Curtis," the teacher called out in a gentle tone, to which she got no response. And it wasn't like the sounds of intense scribbling had stopped either. 
 Ruth, with her free hand, shook Curtis' shoulder.
 "Yes?" Curtis raised his head to look at Ruth, his gaze landed at the fire fragment Ruth had on her finger pointing upwards, "Oh."
 A cluster of flames ignited beside Curtis.
 While remaining oblivious to the shock the teacher was experiencing, Ruth looked at Curtis with a raised eyebrow. It was that stare again.
 "Too big of a flame?" The flame clusters condensed into one single blue flame, under the compression, it turned into a small, almost invisible pearl, with the temperature absolutely searing. It could be felt by the entire class, "And a red flame.." the invisible flame gained corporeal form and became a small red jewel, "It's hard to hold back," Curtis muttered.
 Ruth shook her head, "mommy said we shouldn't ignore our surroundings."
 "Is that right…" Curtis trailed off. Back in Elfian Dynasty, the professors would conduct lectures while he had the privilege to do whatever he wanted. Normally, Curtis would take brisk notes while doing research— and conducting experimental theories at the same time. Whether or not you paid attention to the lecture was at your own discretion. He realized that he was in a lecture room no more, but a room filled with kids. All eyes on him.
 "Curtis, was it?" Teacher Lily had a cold sweat on her face.
 "Sorry," Curtis bowed slightly, "Do you mind reinstating the task, I wasn't paying attention," usually, this was what Curtis would say when the lecturer suddenly tossed him a question he didn't hear.
 "The task was to hold a fire ball on the finger tips you see…"
 "A fireball?" Curtis could only see fire fragments being generated by the student. By the standards of Elfian Dynasty, a fireball had to be at least the size of one's fist. In any case, Curtis now understood the disparity in magic between the two dynasties. "I understand," the lone red flame circulated in the air before landing above the index finger Curtis raised.
 The teacher, kept her facial expression unchanged—no, she had a forced smile. Her pride shatter to bits. 
 'Were the children of the Sheyl family always this talented? This student, Curtis is an unusual one, despite not having a spellbook in hand...'
 Ruth on the other hand, although previously hailed as the best, wasn't really affected all by the fact that there was someone even better than her in magic. This realization led Curtis to feel rather surprised. In a way, Ruth did not have the mindset of learning magic for the sake of showing off.
 The teacher gave him pass, or rather—distinction to Curtis' display of the spell, then backed away to help the other students, slouching.
 "I guess I'll use her as a guinea pig," from the corner of Ruth's eye, the golden star that that Curtis referred to as a grimoire appeared out of thin air yet again. "I'm sorry Ruth, I'm currently in a rush. Tell me if the teacher notices that I went missing after this alright? I'll be at the outdoor table beneath the tree."
 There was a small flash of white light, the students immediately looked over, but the grimoire disappeared before they had the chance to catch a glimpse, nobody saw what had happened.
 Then, Curtis got up and casually walked away.
 "Big brother?" for the first time, Ruth finally acknowledged Curtis, calling out to him in a soft voice—just to have him not notice.

 "Big brother, the teacher didn't notice," Ruth looked down at Curtis, "What is big brother doing?"
 "Thank you. Me? I'm trying to become one with nature," what Curtis was referring to were the lack of plants. There were plenty of stone, processed wood and concrete everywhere, but not plants. He felt that being swallow whole by half-meter tall weeds were a lot more comfortable than taking a stroll around town. He was laying on the bed of overgrown weeds little distant away from the outdoor table.  
 Oddly enough, Ruth did not notice that Curtis had casted a spell to lower their presence. It would be troublesome to have too many people—kids, interview him. 
 "What's this?" looking at the table where Curtis left his notebook. The contents inside were all written professionally. Moreover, it was written in a language Ruth couldn't understand.
 "My research notes, or rather, just the draft," Although Ruth's replies were childish, Curtis knew that she could basically understand the meaning behind the words said by adults. He though he would be doing her a favor by speaking in this way.
 "What's that for?"
 Curtis raised himself up from the nice weed bed, "It's my lifeline," he drawled, moving to the table, he beckoned Ruth to sit down. 
 With Ruth closely observing Curtis' every move, he took out a small Spellbook from his pocket and it somehow expanded in size. Elliope had bought this Spellbook for his studies. Though, Curtis treated it as if it was a proxy instrument to trick people. 
 His primary magic instrument wasn't the Spellbook, but his grimoire. A Grimoire was basically a Spellbook. The big difference between the two was in everything else…
 The grimoire was actually book, a 1000 page book that could disappear into the air per command, asserting an incorporeal form. With it being bound to it's owner, Curtis, it could not be used by anyone other than him—with the exception of his special someone. In it's half-corporeal form, it looked very much like a star— or under closer inspection, a lotus flower.
 In it's corporeal form, it was a grimoire, a meticulously crafted Spellbook that had the ability to shrink and expand, divide and categorize its pages.
 "There," Curtis transcribed a simple spell from his grimoire into Ruth's spellbook. Though, it wouldn't be accurate to call it a transfer because Curtis didn't even refer to his grimoire, having practically memorized all the spells in his disposal. "Try it out," It was a spell to create a water in the shape of a lotus.
 Ruth nodded wildly, partly due to the excitement inside her heart.
 While she was busy with that, Curtis had to tweak his proxy Spellbook. And the first thing he did was to burn the words—
 Those three words inside his grimoire, into the last page of the book.
 "I love you."
 After meticulous work, it was successfully engraved into his proxy spell book without any obvious deviations.
 Ruth who had given up after her third attempt took to Curtis, and saw those words of confession. To the Ruth who was still naive when it came to love and thought love was something provided only by her parents, "Who wrote that?" 
 "This?" Curtis broke into a laugh that contained sorrow and contempt as if reminiscing something, "My Lotus wrote that."
 Ruth tilted her head cutely.
 Looking away, at the evening sky, Curtis made a heavy sigh.
 For a moment, Ruth could see his eyes glistening moist.
 "I have to survive this no matter what— and find a way back home."

 At the end of this ordinary day, Ellis walked out of school. Turning her head towards the meadow— Curtis was dead on grass? She jerked a little, stopped and observed from a distance. 
 He wasn't dead, contract to her expectations. He seemed to be talking to a standing black haired girl. 
 After a while, Ellis thought she should just leave, the time was drawing near. She was adjusting the position of the bag around her back when a sparkling object caught her attention. Mesmerized by it, Ellis couldn't tell why everyone else didn't even bat a glance. Then she saw Curtis take the girl's book and wrote something in it. 
 Ellis wanted to ask what it was, feeling spurious, but her legs couldn't move. Like some invisible barrier between them, she just couldn't break past.
 She was afraid of approaching him? 
 In the end, she shrugged off this odd feeling of connection and walked back home.
 This was their start.

Author: Basically speaking... it's a fantasy novel set in a world where people inhabit on pillars-- (think of m*necaft sky block, you'll get what I mean) -- then give it a hint of action, mystery and (twisted) romance-- and I guess it's influenced by Japanese fantasy light novels (cuz I read a lot of em'). But I'm sure it's a weird one cuz the style of writing isn't the Japanese to English translated kind of style but rather the orthodox English novel kind of writing (which includes a bunch of errors and broken English thanks to me!). In any case, if you're up for it, just beware the story starts out pretty slow.. I mean-- back then, I was still inexperienced ok! I'm gettin' better along the way, Hmmph!

Nothing is more troublesome than trying to forget someone for being one-sided.
On the afternoon of January the 5th, Skylar looked grumpy. Since this afternoon, his mind had utterly lost focus. After all, he was reminded of his cousin, Racie, the woman he had tried to forget because he knew his feelings would not be mutual. Because of that, his work did not go smoothly. He often daydreams and fails what to do.
That 26-year-old man decided to go downstairs and went into his room to rinse his head under the shower. The cold water from the shower did not seem to completely freshen his mind. His head started to feel dizzy.
After he went out of the bathroom and entered his dressing room, Skylar intended to contact Ruth, a pimp at the brothel he often goes to. But before Skylar touches his phone, it vibrates, notifying him of an incoming message.
That was a message from Ruth.
He took his phone after dressing himself. Knowing that the message comes from the fat old lady Ruth must have to tell him if there was a new prostitute in her place, then offering Skylar whether he wanted to book her or not.
As a regular customer — one could say — at that place, Skylar's special request was well remembered by the pimps there. Since three years ago, Skylar has told Mrs Ruth to always contact him if there is a new prostitute.
Yes, booking prostitutes is one of his hobbies, but he only books a new one. He doesn't want to book the same person twice. Skylar didn't even mind paying a fortune for it, so Ruth happily grants his request. Since then, Ruth has always contacted Skylar if there was a new woman in her place. Her activities are still ongoing today.
Skylar opened the message on his phone after he put on his clothes. As expected, Ruth sent a message to let him know if there was a new prostitute. Without thinking, Skylar agreed to book the prostitute for the night. A message telling Ruth to send the prostitute to a hotel was sent in 2 minutes.
He did not want to waste any time and immediately went to his destination hotel. Of course, he had Ruth send the prostitute Skylar booked to another hotel, not his own. He grabbed the car keys that he had placed beside the shelf in his room, then descended to the underground parking lot.
He completely ignored the employees who greeted him when he strode across the lobby. His feet stomped the gas pedal as soon as the engine started as if he couldn't wait to vent the 'emotions' that had accumulated due to remembering Racie since the day.
The sun is already setting out there. The sky had just turned dark when it was past five o'clock. The sky above was cloudy, but the forecast said it would not snow tonight. Even so, the overcast skies in London is a matter of course.
A silver Lamborghini was driving at medium speed down a busy street. Today is not a weekend. Naturally, there are still many people on the streets who are just coming home from work. Fortunately, the road was not congested, or he would be late arriving at his destination.
About 15 minutes later, he arrived at another five-star hotel. Skylar stopped in front of the lobby and handed the keys to the valet to park his car. Meanwhile, he walked towards the receptionist to book a room. While waiting, he pulled out her phone and read the incoming message from Ruth. That message mentions the characteristics of his prostitute for tonight. It describes the clothes, features of her hair and height, and ends with a name.
Mischa.
Skylar snorted. To be honest, he didn't care what that prostitute's name. He wouldn't remember anyway. Skylar even never remembers the faces of the women he had slept with. Even so, Mischa's name would only come out of his mouth once when he called out to her and made sure Skylar was not calling the wrong person.
He sat in the luxurious lounge while sliding his fingers on the screen phone, watching the latest stock developments. Until finally, a message from Ruth made Skylar put his phone back into his pocket. He also got up from the soft sofa and walked to the receptionist to find the woman he booked earlier.
Huh. They should be grateful to be able to sleep in a luxury hotel as their debut as a prostitute. While Skylar was sure other rich men would book them, then it would not be frequent. Unless the prostitute becomes the mistress of another big shot, it is a different story.
His feet took a wide stride towards the reception desk, remembering the characteristics of the clothes of his prostitute—red scarf, long brown coat, matching her hair. Of course, the colour of the scarf was stand out and immediately captured Skylar's golden eyes.
However, he had no idea what he saw. It was true that Ruth said if she had brown hair with the same eye colour, but Skylar did not expect that the girl in front of him, at a glance, resembled someone he was trying to forget. Even though his intention to book a prostitute tonight was to forget about Racie, he now sees someone who looked like her.
In an instant, his hands gripped tightly until his nails stuck deeply. His teeth gritted slowly to hold back the turmoil in his chest. Skylar felt his head could burst at any time or explode with anger after seeing what was in front of him.
What is this? Is God making fun of him now?
He walked over to the girl and asked in a cold tone, "Mischa?" to make sure that he is not calling the wrong person.
In fact, Skylar was hoping that he called the wrong person. But she nodded, confirmed if she is, indeed, Mischa. The makeup on her face was not as thick as the other prostitutes he had seen. From her look, Skylar could tell that the girl in front of him was very inexperienced. But who cares? Skylar always treats the women he book at his will in exchange for the money he spends. This time it will be no different.
"Follow me." His voice didn't sound friendly at all.
He walked to the lift and waited for the door to open. He tapped the room card to space under the lift button after the two of them entered. The lift rose rapidly and stopped at their destination floor, where Skylar had booked a room for the night.
As soon as the two of them entered the room, the door was immediately locked, and Skylar not acting like himself. Racie's image of that prostitute did not disappear at all. Even after he repeated himself if the girl in front of him was not Racie.
His strong hands immediately moved to slightly choked Mischa's neck. He kisses her roughly, ignoring Mischa, who struggled, wanting to be released. Inside of Skylar's head was like being swept away by a storm. It's now empty without a trace. He could not think clearly, and his brain couldn't control every move he made. He does not know what is right and wrong. It was as if all of his actions were based on the anger boiling in his heart.
Maybe Skylar can treat the prostitutes he booked at his will. Perhaps he never cared how every prostitute whined and asked for something, but Skylar never granted their wish. But it's just that. He never treated them so harshly, like now.
Their clothes were scattered on the mattress and the carpet. Skylar didn't even stop as the girl below him continued to shed tears and begged to stop. His face certainly didn't seem to be enjoying himself, but Skylar didn't stop at all.
He didn't give a fuck with other people's feelings. She was nobody. Why should Skylar care and listen to her whining?
Fifteen minutes passed, and Skylar had finished cleaning his body and also getting dressed. He left the money on the small table beside the bed, then left the prostitute who was still curled up and crying on the bed.
"You can stay until tomorrow afternoon," he said before leaving the room.
He was sure that she would not be able to walk well after this, so he implied that Mischa could sleep first until her condition got better. Despite saying that, Skylar did not feel guilty about his treatment at all. Instead, he still felt the urgency to grit his teeth and clench his fists tightly, cursing the world until the day passed.

The Roth vampire had spent hours trying to understand which phrase of the meditation state belonged to which moves. It wasn't always very clear what the phrase was referring to. However, if Ruth had to describe it, the phrases were often captions for the movements portrayed. For example, the shifting of centrifugal force from the attacker to counter their offensive strike was captioned "Receive and transfer the received gift". The Roth vampire could understand why such a caption would be formed but for the more elusive ones like "Hiding a knife behind a smile'', the magic-combat teacher was lost.
On the other hand, Hua Tuo couldn't believe that although the Chinese from the old Earth were extinct, their teachings remained. It was even more surprising that they lived on through the teachings of weaker demons in the abyss. The marsupial demons were known to be small and weak but they never lost against the bigger and stronger opponents. Many could not understand how they did it but Hua Tuo knew. Back in those days, Hua Tuo knew how the Chinese fought against terrifying weapons made from gunpowder with their bare hands. The God of War during his time cut down enemies from horseback using his reclining moon blade spear. That terrifying human defied cannons, flaming arrows and guns without a shield. His name was Guan Yu.
That strong general instilled the bravery that weak Chinese lacked and they formed an art based on the wisdom of Confucius' teachings. Martial Arts were birthed based on philosophy. Scholars of the old were famous for both their wits and martial skills. Without both, one would only be labelled as a brute or empty-headed academic. Hua Tuo also lived through the age of pugilists where martial arts were created by different philosophies found. Some hermits created weird arts that only they could practice. Ou Yang Feng was one such renowned recluse who specialised in the philosophy of "countering poison with poison" and formed the Toad Skill martial art.
With his rich life experience, it wasn't very difficult for Hua Tuo to identify what the meditation scripture was for. While the physician hasn't seen a real martial art manual even in his earlier days, he knew that there were two types of manuals. The first type was for external arts where a person practices it according to the illustrations and become stronger physically. However, for many skilled pugilists, they were only third-rated books. The true masters were able to comprehend martial arts through their philosophy.
A good example was the Nine Yin True Classic. That was a powerful skill cultivated wrongly by Mei Chaofeng by the wrong understanding of the arts. While the practitioner was able to master the skill, the wrong application and practice with her beliefs turned it into something sinister. The original Nine Yin True Classic was a virtuous martial art built upon Budha's teachings. However, with Mei Chaofeng's hatred in her heart, she was unable to fully master the manual's true intent to balance out the nine uses of yin qi against the yang qi produced by the nature of living humans. With that, Mei Chaofeng wrongly mastered the art and turned into a fearsome cultivator who increased her powers by killing countless people. The twisted art was then known as the Nine Yin White Bone Claw.
Hua Tuo was thankful that Zero hasn't started cultivating the manual on his own. Amon was right to advise Zero against doing so. The physician knew that his student was very wise but some of the philosophy written in the Tai Ji manual made Hua Tuo hesitate with their interpretation. The physician would require more time to understand the depth of this philosopher's mind before he could be certain of what it meant.
While Hua Tuo worked diligently, scrutinising each line for an accurate interpretation, Ruth tried the movements out and thought about his student. Zero wasn't going to be growing much taller because the vampire heard about the limitations of his created vessel from the physician. Gaia was careful to make the body stagnant. That means Zero would eternally appear like a teenager.
Standing at about five feet tall, Zero was about as tall as the marsupials who once practised the combat art with some exceptions. Those marsupials had an extra limb that Zero did not have. They included tail whips into their routine and had shorter arms with extremely powerful hind legs. The Roth vampire found it ridiculous to follow the book step by step.
"Doctor," Ruth called out as he paused at yet another move. "Can we change this move here? They're using the tail weight to shift their weights and throw the enemy off in two directions. Unless Zero grows a tail, it can't be done."
Hua Tuo looked up from his transcribing work and nodded. "What do you want to change it to? The text for this move is "Steady and firm like the roots but flexible like the branches swaying in the wind". I don't see a problem with the philosophy but you can't remove the footwork."
Ruth frowned in deep thoughts. Even with Hua Tuo's identification of the texts, Ruth still had problems comprehending the meaning behind the words. For a magic-combatant, mobility and power were what concluded the fight. Instincts and skills were other factors but that was about it. Vampires played fewer mind-games when fighting because they didn't need it. Their speed, instincts and senses were superior to a lot of other species.
Hua Tuo looked at Ruth's troubled expression and studied the diagram.
"How would it look like if you did it without the tail without modification?" he asked.
The Roth vampire put the book down and got into position. His legs were shoulder-width apart and he explained that a tail should be adding weight to the back while he bent one knee forward in a lunging position, preparing to twist his waist while grabbing two enemies attacking from both ends to throw them opposite sides.
"In some cases, the flexibility of the practitioner and the shorter height advantage allows them to bend their waist backwards like a windmill to throw their enemies in a wider circle. However, the legs will not leave this half-bent position on one knee. The tail is meant to support the lack of support on the straightened leg and pull the weight back if the attacker's force is greater than what the force of standing still is. More often than not, the weight of the enemy plays a huge factor."
Hua Tuo nodded as Ruth explained how the gravity will interfere with how the marsupials will apply this move with the following move combination.
"We have five options from here depending on how the situation plays out," he told the physician with a heavy sigh. "The tail can trip the enemies after throwing them off balance, help the marsupial swing over their enemies and use that momentum to throw them over by their necks, help them avoid a knife slash from the horizontal field by falling back onto their coiled tails making them less than a foot tall in height, use it to hit someone in the groin or go for a hind kick feint and tail whip combo."
The physician nodded. He had to hand it to the marsupial demons. They were clearly witty and had good reflexes. No wonder the larger and more powerful demons often couldn't win them. The only limitations these small demons had was stamina. From what the Sage God knew, they were wiped out in a war against a clan with larger numbers. It was truly a shame. Hua Tuo felt that if this art was taught to many, the level of martial arts will once again reach the golden age back in the days of the first Earth.
"I understand now. It is indeed frustrating. With only two hands and two legs, Zero's options are limited. You have the same number of limbs as Zero. What would you propose if it were you?"
Ruth sighed and sat down. "I don't really know. This method of fighting is very different from what I was raised with. We Roth vampires prided ourselves in instincts and speed. You could compare our fighting style with assassination. It's usually swift and precise. There are no real wasted movements or compromises. We deliver one-hit kills if possible and if it doesn't work, we edge into the enemy's space as much as possible attacking all openings. It's the reason why we are famous as close-combat fighters."
Hua Tuo took a look at the diagrams drawn. Indeed. The martial arts manual was something more for mid-range combat than close-range combat. There weren't many close-combat skills but the physician found the few skills written in the manual interesting.
"How about this?" he pointed at a different page. That was a joint locking technique and Hua Tuo was impressed by how advanced their anatomy knowledge was to create such an effective lock hold.
Ruth took a look at it and raised a brow. "How does this work? I've never done it before in my entire life. Also, the image looks complicated. How can we execute this is a high-paced brawl?"
Hua Tuo hummed. He wasn't very experienced with combat either but if it was simply getting into position, Hua Tuo would be able to demonstrate. This was something like chiropractic therapy. The art of bone setting existed long before he became a doctor. Locking techniques were rather similar.
"I could demonstrate how it should be applied if you'd like to know how it works," Hua Tuo offered.
Ruth took a look at the diagram and sighed. "Sure. I don't know what to do so you'll have to guide me."
Hua Tuo grinned. Without reservations, the physician coerced the vampire who was beginning to regret his decision.
Mitchnew arrived at the hut and was pleasantly surprised by the sight of two men playing wrestling at their age. Ruth didn't look like he was doing too well with how he was yelping in pain at that immobilising lock hold.
"Am I interrupting something?" the dark elf asked as she put her bag down.
Hua Tuo released Ruth who immediately went slack and groaned on the floor.
"Hello Mitchnew, it's still rather early. We are not quite done with lunch preparations yet. Would you like to help Ruth with his work? We're currently exploring a new martial art book. I've put all the translated text for the meditation portion to the movements but the moves need modification before Zero can start practising them."
The ex-assassin became interested at the mention of a martial arts manual. She only heard of those books but they were usually a collector's item. For a trained fighter like her, she wanted to know how cultivators fought without magic.
"Sure," she smiled and joined Ruth as Hua Tuo excused himself to get started on lunch preparations. He didn't know where his apprentice had gone but he wasn't worried. Zero would return as soon as his stomach started protesting. The physician would bet his sanity on that.

Ken woke up when he felt something poking his cheek. He opened his eyes and found Evan poking his cheek with a gun. 
Immediately, his eyebrows creased, "what are you doing?" he asked. 
Instead of replying, Evan looked next to Ken where Daniella was sleeping tightly. 
"That's my bed and my woman, get out!" he said in an almost whisper but deep voice. 
Ken groaned and got up, through the corner of his eyes, he saw the book he read. 
"I fell asleep after reading her a book," he was still in dazed, "it's for kids why does she need a book like that?" 
Evan looked at Ken with perplexity, "was she sad?" he asked. 
Ken scoffed faintly, "when I came, she was fighting with Matthew so I don't think so." 
Evan sighed, his eyes caught the flower basket on the bed, "who gave those flowers?" 
"Me," Ken answered swiftly. 
"You never gave anyone a flower," Evan shoved both hands in his pockets, a line appeared in between his brows. He had known Ken since childhood and he never bought a flower once not even for his mother. 
"There's always a first time," Ken answered casually, he was staring at the flowers as well. 
"Don't do it again." 
Ken was dumbfounded by the coldness of Evan's voice, "what's wrong? Are you jealous?" 
Evan's face went flat, "yes." 
And the silence came in between them. Ken didn't think that Evan would say yes while the latter never thought that Ken would ask that question. 
There was just silence, and Ken felt as if Evan was moving further away even though he didn't move an inch. 
"You're like a brother to me Evan, I will never let a woman destroy what we have," his tone was serious while his eyes conveyed a thousand emotion. Evan has been on his side, whenever he was sick, the man would visit him, he will stay until he feels better. 
When his father died, Evan was also there. He helped him with the business despite having his own issues with the Bank. 
Evan has never judged him despite all the bad things he'd done. He's just there beside him, telling him that everything's going to be alright. He was like a father and a brother, he supported him and comforted him. 
Evan nodded as he smiled, he gave Ken a brotherly hug like when they were teenagers. 
"Aw! I was waiting for a kiss and not a hug!" 
From the bed, Daniella rose with disappointment on her face, "I think I should be more worried that Mr. Chu will steal my boyfriend." 
Ken rolled his eyes, he said his goodbye and left. 
Evan faced Daniella, he held her hands and smiled at her, "my grandpa wants us to have dinner with him. When are you free?" 
Surprise on her face, Daniella gulped hard, "do you think he finally accepted us?" 
He nodded with a wide smile on his lips. He lifted a hand and ran his hand through her messy hair, "yes so I was thinking maybe we should do it on the weekends." 
Daniella gave her reply with a kiss, she was not expecting that the elder would accept then so quickly. She really thought she will have to unleash the demons from hell before she could convince the elder Su to accept her.

The news playing on the television has made Daniella froze. She's about to leave the house and bring Selena to school while Evan and Matthew had gone to work. 
It was the Celebrity News show that plays in the morning. The show was being hosted by two entertainment reporters who happened to be sisters, Rose and Ruth. 
Ruth: Evan Su's 'other woman' is rumored to be a doctor who happened to be an ex-girlfriend of the President's son. 
Rose: OMG! A pretty face can definitely destroy someone's relationship. 
Ruth: well, we don't know that sister. But we know that Camille Male is Mr. Su's childhood sweetheart. 
Rose: yeah, they are endgame. A perfect couple. It's sad that there are some women who would use their pretty face to break a happy and loving relationship. 
Daniella smiled bitterly, the two continued talking though they have switched to another celebrity. 
She took her phone out, while her eyes were glued at the television. 
She searched for the Director of the show's phone number and when she found it, she called him and asked to speak with the sisters. 
The news was live, Daniella smiled as she watched one of the assistants rushed towards the sister and handed the phone. 
While Rose answered the phone, Ruth turned to the camera. 
"Everyone, Mr. Su's 'other woman' is on the phone. This is the first time we have this situation in the show" Ruth spoke with excitement. 
Daniella giggled, "what's your question?" she asked Rose. 
Rose: Could you tell us your name? 
Daniella: I'd rather not. 
Rose: Is it true that you stole Evan Su from Camille Male? Is that the reason why Camille doesn't want to continue with the engagement?

Daniella looked at the television to watch the sister's reaction.
