Chapter 13 – Problem Solved
Lucas took a morning shower and went to Room No 2 to pick up Fury for breakfast. Fury, Red, and Blue had just woken up and were playing around. Lucas decided to bring the trio together. Once they were out of the playground, they happily followed Lucas upstairs. 
"Their moods are better now," said Lucas. 
[That is the effect of the playground. Fury will be easier to learn things for training today] said Sery. 
They had their breakfast and Lucas led Fury to Room No 3. They entered the dungeon and could see that the trees around them had fruits back. The dungeon was reseted. 
"Sery, will the pet foods in the storeroom be fine? They will not get spoiled?" Lucas asked. He had a feeling that they would be fine but it was better if he could confirm it. 
[The tube that stored the pet foods is time-proof. They will stay fresh forever as long as they are inside the tube] Sery replied. 
Since they would not get spoiled, Lucas decided to continue his harvest that day. Be that as it may, he decided to do that later. Fury's Fur Guard training was his focus at the moment. Lucas opened his system and checked on Fury's stat.

Fury had stayed in the playground for the whole night and his talent had increased by a lot. That was the benefit of the pet playground. 
Fury's normal element talent had increased from 35% to 60%. Since the playground was a normal element playground, the normal talent received the most increased. His ball and fur talent had increased by 10% to 40% and 50% respectively. 
Fury's other stats remained the same. There was no change in them. All the changes happened during their training time and Lucas was aware of it. 
"Fury, today we will continue training your Fur Guard skill. However, we will change our training today," said Lucas and Fury nodded. He looked eager to train thanks to the pet playground improving his moods. 
"I want you to use Energy Control and make your Fur Guard bouncy instead of hardening," said Lucas and he added, "Make sure the fur is stronger too. I don't want them to rip easily when hit," he thought for a bit and added more, "Make the fur stretchy too." 
Fury nodded and it started using Energy Control and tried his best in making his fur bouncy and stretchy. On the first try, he failed and ran out of energy. After a rest, Fury tried again and he failed again. 
Fury continued doing it until the tenth time, the fur started inhibiting a bouncy and stretchy feeling. "Try to maintain that," said Lucas, and Fury did his best but could only maintain it for five seconds. After another rest, Fury continued his training. 
6 seconds, 7 seconds, 8 seconds, 9 seconds. The more Fury tried, the longer he could hold the bouncy and stretchy state. His learning ability increased a lot after he stayed in the pet playground. The increase in talent helped a lot too. 
After more than a hundred tries, Fury finally managed to hold the bouncy and stretchy fur state for 20 seconds. It might sound low but Fury did it in less than a day. That was super impressive for a pet with E grade potential. 
[Will this improve the Fur Guard? You did not even use the skill while doing this. Fury may end up creating a new skill instead of improving the Fur Guard] Sery said. 
"We need to take this slowly. There is no need to rush. We have a lot of time," said Lucas and then, he gave a new order to Fury. 
"Ok, Fury. That is good for now. Next, I want you to use Fur Guard and use this state on your Fur Guard," said Lucas. 
Fury tried it and failed on the first try. He continued fusing Fur Guard with the bouncy and stretchy state but it proved to be hard. Fury kept trying but he failed many times. He tried it until it was afternoon (dungeon time) before Lucas gave Fury the afternoon rest. 
They had their lunch and Fury continued his training. Lucas did not stay idle while Fury was busy training. He did his usual training too. Not only that, but he also went around the area and collected pet foods. 
Fury did not follow him. He left him under a tree where it was far away from monsters. Even if there were monsters nearby, it would not be a problem to Fury. 
As Lucas was collecting fruits on a tree. Something hit the tree. He looked below and a white dog was growling at him. It wanted to fight. 
"Fury had always been the one fighting," said Lucas. "I should try fighting monsters too. The white dog is only a Tier 1 monsters and we are of the same rank. The fighting should not be hard," Lucas decided to try fighting the white dog. 
Lucas got up and stood on the tree branch. He looked down at the white dog and took a deep breath. The first time he fought a monster, he was killed. He was a bit nervous but he knew that he had improved a lot from before. 
"Body Enhancement," Lucas used the skill on himself and his stats increased by 5%. He felt that his body was stronger but he knew it was only for 20 seconds. Lucas jumped down towards the white dog and threw a punch. 
The white dog easily dodged the punch and quickly took a stance and rushed towards Lucas with its mouth opened. The white dog teeth shone lightly. Lucas knew what it was trying to do. He had seen this scene countless times before when Fury was fighting. 
Lucas moved to the right side of the white dog, "Fist of The Stone Golem!" Lucas's fist turned as hard as stone and he launched a barrage of punches at the white dog's body. 
"Awoo!!!!" The white dog screamed in pain. It used its speed and tried to escape from Lucas but Lucas was faster than the white dog. 
"Your speed may have a limit of 14 points but you did not train it enough to reach that limit," said Lucas and he continued using Fist of The Stone Golem on the white dog. With his 10 speed points, he could easily outrun the white dog which had less than 10 points of speed. 
A few seconds later, the white dog died. Lucas looked at the white dog and he looked at his hands. The enhancement effect ended and he clenched his fist. "Tier 1 monster is not a problem anymore," Lucas was smiling. 
As usual, he dismantled the white dog and sent the materials to the storeroom. "… Should I continue fighting?" Lucas said. 
[Do it. Master needs fighting experience too. You cannot fully rely on Fury in the wild. I am not saying that Fury is unreliable but I want master to be prepared] said Sery. 
[Many unexpected things happen in a dungeon. It is safe in this dungeon because this dungeon is not the same as the real dungeon but the real dungeon will have a lot of danger] Sery warned him of the danger in the dungeon and encouraged Lucas to keep fighting. 
"Let's do it. Fury is busy training his skill and new progress will take a while. I don't want to waste time doing nothing too," said Lucas and he decided to search for more pet foods as well as hunting more monsters. 
Lucas continued collecting pet foods and when he met a monster, he would kill the monster. The more he fought, the better he was in executing the right skills at the right moment. Thanks to his comprehension stat, Lucas understood a lot of things faster. 
A day later, Fury finally succeeded in fusing the bouncy and stretchy state to Fur Guard. However, he could not hold it that long. He continued training and increased the time more and more. Three days later, Fury could keep that state for almost a minute. A huge improvement after working so hard for four days straight. 
Now that the state could be held that long, Lucas decided to try it in a fight. They walked around and found a white slime. "Fury, use what you learn," said Lucas. Fury used Fur Guard and added the bouncy and stretchy state to the skill. 
The white slime tackled Fury and when it hit Fury's Fur Guard, the white slime was forced backward by the bounciness of the Fur Guard. Not only the white slime but Fury was pushed away too. Be that as it may, Fury did not suffer any damage thanks to the fur's bounciness. 
"!!!" Fury was shocked and amazed that he could do that. All this time, the Fur Guard had been useless but it could now protect his body properly. 
[Wow~ The improvement looks great. The gaps in the fur help to enhance the bounciness of the fur. The soft fur also helps a lot in enhancing the stretchy-ness of the fur hence improving the overall bounciness of the skill] Sery was amazed too. 
"It works!!" Lucas was happy. He had no idea that it would work especially when it took that long for Fury to fuse the two things. Luckily, he and Fury did not give up. 
[Now, all we need is to keep practicing this skill in battles and wait for the system to approve this improvement. Fury needs to stabilize the skill more too. I wonder what effects will be added to the Fur Guard?] said Sery. He was excited too.
Fury continued battling the white slime. Whenever the white slime tackled Fury who was encased with the bouncy Fur Guard, both would be thrown backward and their distance would increase. The white slime would then fall on the ground and suffer minor damage while Fury did not suffer any damage. 
Fury seemed to get a lot of fun using the improved Fur Guard. He felt like he was playing inside a ball (he is literally a ball of fur inside another ball of fur). Fury's mood turned better and he kept improving and stabilizing the skill to a point where he could hold on the skill for almost three minutes. 
The new improvement seemed to need a lot of time to be approved by the system as after five days of using the skill in battle, Lucas finally got the system notification. 
[Fury's Fur Guard improved. Effects added: Repel 10, Bounce 10, Defense +10]
When Lucas read the notification, he was petrified. Sery was shocked too. Two new effects were added to the skill and not only that, the defense stat was increased too. 
[… Master, the difficulty of improving this skill must be hard that the skill gets a lot of improvement] said Sery. He did not expect that the Fur Guard would improve that much. 
"Maybe the skill is suitable for a furball. When we think about it, the furball is a soft-body monster. Hardening his soft fur might not be the right approach. So, there was no improvement when I asked Fury to harden his fur using his energy," Lucas gave his opinion. 
"After I asked Fury to make his fur bouncy and stretchy, we saw the improvement happen. It is slow but the improvement always happened, unlike hardening. Also, I think the element of the skill plays a huge part too," Lucas added. 
"We have been approaching this problem in the wrong way."
[Master is right] Sery agreed. 
Now that the Fur Guard improvement problem had ended, Lucas was relieved. Not only that, he learned a new thing. 
"I will need to consider a lot more things in the future when I want to improve the skills of my pets," said Lucas.

Even so, Lucas decided to stop the training for the day. He brought Fury out of the dungeon and put him in the nursing pen for healing. He felt like the combination of nursing pen, pet playground and training had helped a lot in Fury's improvement.

Petrian used to be a normal modern world when suddenly gates connecting to a dungeon that was filled with monsters appeared. After that, humans discover that they could capture the monsters and use them as pets to defeat other monsters. Since then, Petrian has become a world of pet tamer. 
A thousand years later, a Grade E city was ravaged by a strong monster and many people died. One of them was Lucas’s father. Not only that, Lucas was heavily injured but he miraculously woke up from a coma. 
When he woke up, he found out that he owned the Pet Nursery System. Lucas used the system and wanted to open the best pet nursery in the universe.

Ling Pong, who was the assassin leader, squinted his eyes at the dogs before them.
So these were the dogs that his subordinates had talked about?
Actually, they weren't since the dogs the subordinates mentioned were far away on the opposite side of the main highway, around the barracks.
His subordinates tried to infiltrate the barracks, but some came back with their bitten beaten, and their hands and legs chewed on like bones.
The actions of these dogs made them believe that they had stumbled upon hungry animals in the dead of night.
After all, they were attacked by these dogs deep at night whenever they tried to infiltrate the barracks.
But the dogs never had killing intent, as they let them go after a while.
So no one thought more of it.
Little did they know that all those times, the dogs were just heeding to the instructions of the humans around by listening to the silent dog whistle that only they could hear.
And with their training, they knew the instructions based on how many times the whistles blew.
Of course, the Prison dogs had almost identical training to the military dogs. But there were a few more instructions catered to their prison scenarios.
Looking at the dogs, Ling Pong realized that their previous deductions about them were wrong.
Just by how they saluted the big one and even moved in formation, he could tell that they meant business.
He would be lying if he said that he wasn't impressed.
But he never believed for one second that they, as top-notch assassins, would lose to dogs.
If word went out, how were he and the rest supposed to live in the Assassin world again?
No matter what tricks these dogs gas, they were still dogs and will always be lesser than humans.
That's why it was very laughable to him when he thought of the Baymardians sending dogs to fight In their place.

Ling Ping could smell and see the dog's wolfish fangs slowly crush his wrist.
Pain.
It was like the dog had disconnected something within his body, making him let go of the knife he held in that hand subconsciously.
Dammit!
Was he going to sit here and watch this bastard get the best of him?
No way!
Right now, the dog was over him while he lay on the ground.
He gritted his teeth and raised the other dagger in his other hand in an attempt to stab the bastard's neck.
But as if sensing his move, the boss dog moved its body slightly higher, causing him to stab the best instead.

The slaps were so hard that it completely shocked him and left him in a daze.

He was probably missing a few teeth by now.

He spat out blood and glared at Boss dog unwillingly.

Could anyone tell him why this dog was so strong?
He felt like there was a conspiracy somewhere.

And almost every day, Boss dog would have close combat with Mitchen.

When it came to Boss dog, he was respected by both the guards and the dogs alike.
The other dogs looked at him in awe.
At times, they stood in line and sometimes reported their updates to Boss dog as if they were humans.
Even when they were sometimes taken out on missions to escort or capture prisoners, they all followed boss dog as his subordinates.
In short, if Ling Pong knew the real prestige of his opponent, he would smile bitterly and feel better about getting beatings from Boss dog.
What a joke!
Belittling Boss dog was akin to belittling Warden Mitchen.
And that was just plain stupid.

Boss dog landed the last slap before grabbing the knife that Ling Pong dropped earlier on and threw it towards one of the walls far away.
Ling Pong took advantage of this and pushed Boss dog away, finally freeing himself from underneath it.
He stood up vigilantly and decided to treat the dog as if it were another assassin.
This dog wasn't normal.
What sort of strength was that?
It was clearly a monster in disguise!
And so, the real fight between dog and man began.
Who would win?
Ling Pong believed it to be him!

Zhan Tian was astonishingly young, it seemed to be even younger than X, not yet seven years old. In addition, Zhan Tian was not suffering from any physical injury.
Famous grew increasingly perplexed. A police with its experience, strength, and lack of injuries should've at least been seven years old. Why had Zhan Tian been sent to a police dog nursing home so young?
Normally, Zhan Tian would be dispatched to the border areas to become border defense police dog or an police dog in the hinterland so that it could arrest criminals and perform good deeds.

As the training reached an end, the police officers used the actual combats against terrorists, both at home and abroad, to train the police dogs.
One day, something happened to Zhan Tian. The accident didn't cause any physical injuries.
Training Test: Combat Against Terrorists in Urban Streets.
Training Intensity: Quasi-Live Ammunition.
In this simulation, Zhan Tian followed a small group of SWAT police officers and entered an old building that had been occupied by terrorists. They started to search for the terrorists floor-by-floor and room-by-room.
Zhan Tian's sense of smell played a significant role, it led the team and found the room where the terrorists were hiding.
According to intelligence, the terrorists were armed with guns. Strategically, the police officers had to throw a flash bomb into the room before going in to subdue the terrorists.
All the weapons, were fake and there were rubber bullets in the guns so it wouldn't harm anyone. However, the flash bomb thrown into the room was genuine.
When the flash bomb exploded, its loud noise and bright light could temporarily deafen and blind the people in the room. 
That's where the problem lied. The SWAT team knew to turn their heads and open their mouths to avoid the strong light and impact of sound waves.
Zhan Tian didn't know about the precautions. It was a dog whose hearing was 16 times more sensitive than that of humans.
When the SWAT team threw the flash bomb and barged into the room, the courageous Zhan Tian was eager to enter the room, to fight the criminals. Although it was halted by a police officer near the door, the flash bomb still affected Zhan Tian.
This is where Zhan Tian's memory got a bit hazy. There was a white light, and its ears were buzzing. In the intense white light, the figures of the SWAT team were overlapping and moving in slow motion.
Zhan Tian did very well at the beginning of the simulation, but its performance near the end was way below its usual standard. The SWAT police officers and instructors didn't take this matter seriously because they thought that Zhan Tian performed well enough in the usual training session. They believed that Zhan Tian was just exhausted. 
Zhan Tian was sent to rest for a few days. However, in another simulation, several days later, Zhan Tian made a huge mistake. 
In this simulation, Zhan Tian barked in horror as soon as it saw a flash bomb in a police officer's hand, exposing the position of the SWAT team to the criminals. As a result, the SWAT team failed to rescue the hostages and every police officer was killed.
From that day on, Zhan Tian was rebuffed by everyone, including its trainer. 
Nevertheless, due to Zhan Tian's excellent performance prior to the accident, the instructors in the police force did not completely abandon Zhan Tian. They let Zhan Tian rest for a longer period, and then tried to make Zhan Tian useful by involving it in the simple training sessions. 
However, the extended rest failed to bring Zhan Tian back to normal. Instead, its performance was getting worse. It often stopped suddenly when running and suspiciously looked around. Every time it heard gunshots, it ran to the corner and shivered. Zhan Tian had turned into the joke of the anti-terrorism police unit.
Zhan Tian was ultimately abandoned by everyone, even its owner.
The leader of the anti-terrorism police unit approved Zhan Tian's advanced retirement. No one adopted it because no one wanted to adopt a coward.
After many twists and turns, the once-praised Zhan Tian was thrown away to the police dog nursing home and started to live in isolation in Cage 5. Whenever strangers came close to its cage, Zhan Tian would cower in the corner and shudder.
Although Zhan Tian's body was intact, its heart was broken.
Famous looked at Zhan Tian. 
In a sense, Zhan Tian was just like X. Zhan Tian also a guard dog defending its homeland, forced to retire because of wounds. X bravely rescued its owner and was hit by a bullet, and later treated with honor and respect. Zhan Tian didn't suffer from a physical injury, but it was treated so badly. 
This was so unfair.
Most retired police dogs still had feelings for their owners, but Zhan Tian didn't. Its owner had abandoned it and it had accepted the fact.
Famous could not bear to let this poor police dog continue being scared. Famous left it alone and went to Cage 6.  
Just then, the footsteps of a few people sounded from in front of the kennel. Famous could tell it was Zhang Zian. 
Zhang Zian and Old Yang thought that Fu Tao could be the right person to take care of the German Shepherds. Before they made a decision, Zhang Zian and Old Yang wanted to inspect the kennel to see how clean it was and how dogs were treated. 
So, Fu Tao led them to the kennel.
Zhang Zian was relieved to see Famous. "Famous, you came to the kennel by yourself? I've been looking for you everywhere."
Fu Tao gently said, "I told you not to worry about it. It wouldn't run outside when the gate is closed."
Zhang Zian smiled shyly. Old Yang defended him. "If I had such a dog, I would also be nervous. The whole crew thinks of this dog as a treasure."
Fu Tao whispered in disdain, "So cocky. You don't think my nursing home has dogs that have been participated in movies?"
Zhang Zian thought Fu Tao's temper was like a child's, so he didn't mind his remark. He and Old Yang walked from Cage 1 to Cage 4. Since they didn't have Famous's ability, the dogs in the cages all looked normal to them. They stopped in front of Cage 4 and observed X longer than the others because of its proud look and its disabled hind leg.
When they came to Cage 5, Famous barked at Zhang Zian, "Something's wrong with it."
Zhang Zian and Old Yang had also noticed that the German Shepherd in Cage 5 was extremely timid and very afraid of strangers. Was it really a police dog?
The first thing that occurred to Zhang Zian's mind was whether this dog had been subjected to Fu Tao's abuse. Generally, only dogs that had been severely abused would be so horrified of people. 
If Fu Tao was actually a dog abuser in private, Zhang Zian and Old Yang couldn't send the German Shepherds here.
However, after careful observation, Zhang Zian didn't think that dog had been abused as the dog was very healthy and had no visible scars on its body. 
Famous softly explained, "It's been like this since it encountered some terrible things in training."
Zhang Zian was stunned. He couldn't figure out what the terrible things were. This police dog wasn't sick or injured. What could be worse than illnesses or wounds?
Old Yang couldn't help but ask, "Excuse me, what's wrong with this dog?"
Fu Tao frowned and said, "This dog... In fact, I don't quite understand what happened to it. I heard people say that this dog was so cowardly that it was almost scared to death in training. No one wants to adopt it, so I took it out of pity."
As if understanding his words, Zhan Tian lowered its head and whimpered.
As a former trainer, Old Yang disliked gutless dogs the most. He could tolerate stupid dogs, but not gutless dogs. He immediately lost interest in Zhan Tian.
Famous shook its head and denied, "It is not a coward. It's just sick…in its heart."
Old Yang and Fu Tao couldn't understand Famous, but Zhang Zian could and he was more puzzled. When he saw that Fu Tao was about to leave, he stopped Fu Tao and asked, "Master Fu, can you elaborate on how this dog was scared?"
Fu Tao impatiently replied, "I don't know the specific situation. All I know is that this dog became suddenly a coward."
Famous whispered, "It was a flash bomb. This dog saw a flash bomb explod."
Flash bomb?
Zhang Zian was doubtful. Flash bombs were a non-lethal weapon, could a flash bomb really have such a big impact on this dog? 
Old Yang was asking Fu Tao some questions about the routine training and raising of the police dogs. Zhang Zian took the opportunity to pull out his cell phone and send a message to Sun Xiaomeng.
Zhang Zian: "Question: If a police dog saw a flash bomb explode at close range, would it be so frightened that it became sick afterwards?"
Sun Xiaomeng did not reply.
Zhang Zian sent 50 Yuan to her.
Sun Xiaomeng: "Generally, police dogs would be fine, but there are exceptions."
Zhang Zian: "How is it possible? Would police dogs become cowardly? This is a police dog I'm talking about!"
Since Sun Xiaomeng did not reply for a while, Zhang Zian sent her another 100 Yuan along with a message: "Please, tell me all the information I need in one message."
Sun Xiaomeng: "Such cases are rare in China, but they are often heard among military dogs of the U.S. troops stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan."
Zhang Zian wondered why the matter had anything to do with the U.S. military.
Sun Xiaomeng: "Dogs, like people, have emotions and feelings. Of course, they'd be frightened of certain things. Humans and dogs can suffer from certain mental illnesses, such as PTSD."
Zhang Zian: "PTSD? What does that mean?"
Sun Xiaomeng: "PTSD is post-traumatic stress disorder. It often occurs in soldiers returning from the battle. With a deep fear of the brutal battlefield, most patients with PTSD cannot continue to live their daily lives normally. PTSD manifests itself as stress, nightmares, abnormal behaviors, etc. In the United States, there have been many cases of killings by veterans returning from battle, and all these veterans are the typical PTSD patient. It's not just people that suffer from PTSD, dogs can also suffer from PTSD after looking at a sudden strong light or hearing loud noises."
Zhang Zian: "So, the police dog I referred to may suffer from PTSD because it saw a flash bomb explosion at close range?"
Sun Xiaomeng: "It's possible."
Zhang Zian: "What are the specific symptoms of PTSD?"
Sun Xiaomeng: "Records show that, due to frequent threats of car bombs on the battlefield, military dogs returning from Iraq and Afghanistan have become very sensitive. They resist going into cars, hide from people, and refuse to enter any room. If they were forcibly taken into a room, they'd hide under a bed or other furniture, and they're especially frightened of bearded men. Would you call these veteran dogs, cowards?"
Zhang Zian took his eyes of his phone's screen and looked at the police dog shuddering in the corner of its cage. According to the symptoms, this police dog was probably suffering from PTSD.
He sent a message to ask: "Is PTSD curable?"
Sun Xiaomeng didn't reply for a long time. Just when Zhang Zian was about to send her more money, she suddenly replied.
Sun Xiaomeng: "Unfortunately, it's very difficult to cure PTSD in human beings. I've heard that the veterinary hospitals in the U.S. military are implementing a PTSD treatment plan for military dogs. Though the military dogs may not fully recover, they'd be able to carry out simple tasks and live a normal life after leaving the army. However, since China is not involved in any external war, there's no relevant study of the treatment of PTSD so far."
Zhang Zian had been squatting, so that he could show Famous the phone screen and narrate his conversation with Sun Xiaomeng to Famous in a low voice.  
For some reason, Zhang Zian associated PTSD with Famous. He pretended that he was tired of squatting so he could stand and quickly send a message to Sun Xiaomeng.
Zhang Zian: "Does PTSD only occur to veterans who return from battle?"
Sun Xiaomeng: "No, anyone who's been traumatized by any cruel or terrifying scene— war, abuse, murder, car accident and so on— can suffer from PTSD."
Zhang Zian asked: "Can PTSD make people lose their memory?"
Sun Xiaomeng: "Of course, memory loss is an instinctive reaction of humans to protect themselves, a sort of coping mechanism."
Zhang Zian thoughtfully looked down at Famous and asked her: "What about dogs? If a dog suffers from PTSD, is it possible that they've lost their memory?"
Sun Xiaomeng: "How can you know if a dog is an amnesiac?"
Zhang Zian didn't reply to her. He locked the screen, placed his phone in his pocket, and pretended nothing had happened.

Poliana covered her face in shame. There was no way she could see the emperor's face. She wasn't a horny teenage boy, and yet Poliana couldn't stop thinking about that night. She wished she could remember what happened clearly, because if she did, at least she would know exactly what happened. But the reality was, she remembered very vaguely and mostly how she felt, not the detail of what really happened. And how she felt… It was embarrassing to admit it, but she remembered feeling good.
'Dammit! I think it was really good.'
If it was an awful experience, all she would have to do is forget about it. This was especially the case since Lucius the First ordered her to forget as if nothing happened. The problem was… Poliana couldn't forget, probably because it was such a shocking event.
They both agreed to forget, but they both knew that they couldn't. Both Lucius the First and Poliana knew they would never be able to forget that night. This was partly because if they didn't, they might lose each other. Their relationship might get ruined, so at the time, both believed that pretending to forget was the best option.
'It's never too late. I better snap out of this.'
Perhaps it really was too late, but Poliana decided not to think this way. It wasn't too hard for her to do this since she had a strong will. She had always believed what she chose to believe, and she was going to do the same thing in this incident too.
'I have been acting too weakly… I was seduced by the comfort of my new life… This is why I made such a huge mistake… This is the worst. I deserve to die. People can be such a lazy and greedy being, but I can't be one of them! I need to be better!'
This was why Poliana decided to go through special training. Since she no longer had much work to do, she filled her daily routine with intense training. Poliana announced that she will no longer drink. She no longer accepted dinner invitations just like the way she used to when she was a skinny young girl, Poliana trained like her life depended on it.
Poliana was interested in how the First Division, under Sir Ainno's order, trained so intensely. Sir Ainno may have been less interested in his best friend the emperor because he was busy with his love life, but Sir Ainno never acted lazy about his work. The Knight's Order's training was always one of his priorities.
When Poliana visited the First Division to ask about the training, the guards replied rudely, "It will be too hard for you, Sir Poliana."
Everyone knew all the knights of the First Division were jerks, but this was too much. If Sir Mahogal was here, things would've been in better order, but he was on vacation. Poliana smiled brightly and kicked the rude guard viciously.
The knights of the First Division shivered in shock. They knew they had no choice but to acknowledge Poliana as the head of the Second Division, but they had no responsibility to accept her as their own boss. But… Poliana's kicks and punches were shockingly painful. When Sir Ainno punched them, the guards feared for their lives. When Poliana did it, they feared becoming debilitated. The guards knew they would not suffer an immediate death, but to suffer for a very long time and very painfully… It was a scary prospect.
Poliana knew that violence was not the answer to everything, but these jerks kept forcing her to use it. She was able to gain some control over the guards, but Poliana still felt upset. When she continued to pant angrily, Sir Beke walked up to her. He kicked his colleague, who was on the floor in pain, and said to Poliana, "Sir Pol, our training may be too difficult."
With his eyes, he silently said to her, "This is hell."
Poliana replied bravely, "That's exactly what I want." Poliana clenched her fist and raised it up in the air. When she looked determined and ready, Sir Beke kindly explained to her what their training involved.

After the training, Poliana collapsed to the ground. When Sir Ainno spotted her, he walked up to her and asked, "Why are you here?" The royal guards of the First Division saluted their boss immediately while Poliana remained on the ground weakly. When she couldn't seem to answer him, Sir Ainno asked the guards instead, "Why is the head of the Second Division here? What was she doing?"
"She has been going through our training with us, Sir."
"Did she do well? Was she able to keep up?"
"No!"
Poliana's eyes wavered, but she still gritted her teeth when she heard the guard's answer. 'Jerks.' Why couldn't they give a little white lie and say she did well?
'Honest jerks.'
Both the guards and their bosses were assh*les. Sir Ainno looked down at her with his usual disgruntled look. Poliana, feeling upset, asked, "What?! Why are you staring at me like that?"
"No, it's just… His highness has been acting strangely lately, so I was wondering if you knew anything about it."
She knew a lot about it, but Poliana couldn't answer. When she remained silent, Sir Ainno assumed that Poliana didn't know anything. He looked away and ordered his guards, "Take care of her. Help her return home or something." He left, leaving his guards feeling frustrated.
"What should we do? Who should help her?"
"Let's just get one of the guards from the Second Division. She is their boss, right?"
"I agree!"
"Me too!"
"But if the boss finds out we didn't help her ourselves, he is going to be furious."
"Oh, maybe, and she's a woman, so we might get in trouble…"
"Wait! Isn't Beke her friend or something?"
"Oh yeah! Sir Beke is her close acquaintance, so… Wait a minute! Where did Sir Beke go?"
"He ran away as soon as the boss appeared."
"Well, that's understandable. Sir Ainno is going to be his brother-in-law, right? That sounds horrible. I would've run away too if I was in his shoes."
The guards of the First Division chatted leisurely while surrounding Poliana. Just then, a random dog appeared and walked up to Poliana with its tail wagging. The dog began to lick Poliana's face, perhaps wanting her to play with him. Poliana was feeling too weak to push the dog away.
When the guards continued to discuss what to do with her, Poliana used every strength she had left to raise her hand and said to them, "I… I will take care of myself, so… Go away."
"Yes, Sir Pol!"
The guards left immediately, leaving Poliana alone with the dog. Somehow, Poliana pushed herself so she laid on the ground on her back. Looking up at the sky made her feel a little better. The dog continued to lick her face, and soon, Poliana realized that the dog was after the saltiness of her sweat. He wasn't licking her because he liked her. She was fine with it except for the fact that the dog had awful breath.
'I'm going to die here like this…'
Poliana felt too tired to move. Perhaps it was a mistake to dismiss the guards. She didn't want to do anything. She couldn't. She was regretting her decision to join the special training when Sir Beke returned.
"Umm… My brother told me to invite you to dinner when I see you, Sir Pol."
Sir Aeke told both Sir Beke and Sir Deke to invite Marquess Winter for dinner when they got the chance to see her so the family could thank Poliana for giving her wedding items to Cekel.
But today wasn't the day for a dinner invitation. Poliana was too weak, so Sir Beke helped her get home.

She pressed harder, twisting the knife in her victem until they lost all struggle. The blade was retracted and the her victem crashed to the floor. Himiko's eyes were glued to the blood dripping off her knife. She smiled brightly and licked the liquid off her blade, savoring the taste. She giggled again. Delicious. Not as good as Kuriko's but still very good. Normally she would not do such a thing. She was content with Kuriko alone. She had no need for anyone else. The only reason she targeted this girl is because she planned on following Kuriko to UA. She would need to use her quirk at such a school. She might need to use her quirk during the exam. She didn't know much about her quirk so she decided she should experiment. She knew what it could do, while at the same time she didn't. Did the amount of blood she took matter? Would it affect her transformation? How complicated is the transformation? How well does this transformation work? She didn't know this. She never really used her quirk. She used it once and remembered the feeling. She knew what it would feel like, what it should feel like. That's about it. She didn't  know much about it. She didn't remember  how much blood she ingested or how long the transformation lasted. 

So she did this to experiment. 

She also liked the feeling it brought. It was exhilarating. 

While she was filling up a vile full of her victem's blood she wasn't paying enough attention to notice someone standing behind her. It wasn't until she was smacked on the back of her head that the person was noticed. 

"Hi Riko" she greeted cheerfully and received another slap at the back of her head. 

Kuriko glared down at the girl. Of all the things. They were still in school. It may have ended but the clubs were active. Anyone could've walked out here and saw this. That would be too troublesome. Why does Himiko not think about these things? 

Kuriko eyed the girl on the floor. She wasn't moving. She crouched down next to her and placed two fingers at her pulse. She was still breathing. Kuriko trailed her hand down to her stomach and began healing the girl. The wound closed up. Her clothes were restored to their former state. Kuriko gripped the unconscious girl by the collar and carelessly dragged her across the floor and placed her against a wall. She touched her forehead and succesfully altered her memory, before  returning to Himiko. Kuriko had left the pool of blood on the floor, to Himiko's delight. 

"Hey, hey, can you collect all this blood for me? I wanna experiment ,I could use the blood" 

Kuriko kept a good distance from Himiko. She was very giddy and cheerful. It made Kuriko uncomfortable. It sickened her to a degree. She had sighed at the blonde's request, but she fulfilled her request anyway. With an almost unnoticeable twitch of her fingers the pool of blood started to rise into the air. 

Himiko giggled in her joy and produced a water bottle. She watched happily as Kuriko directed the blood into the container. She  had only planned on getting a small amount. It's a good thing Kuriko found her. 

"Thank you! " Himiko almost squealed and latched onto Kuriko's arm. She ignored the other's obvious annoyance by the action. "Can I stay with you again? You can help me learn more about my quirk"

Kuriko shook her head no and tried to pull her arm away from the blonde. She cursed the girl's strenght, for she would not let go of her. 

"But Kuriko"

Said girl ignored her whining. At some point she gave up on trying to pull away from the clingy blonde and instead jabbed her side . When she flinched away due to the pain Kuriko increased her walking speed and folded her arms. 

"You're so mean! "


What else did she expect from her? Kuriko stuffed her hands in her pockets as she trudged through the hallway. Himiko made things so bothersome since the early morning. Apparenty she had stabbed her counselor multiple times. It's a wonder the man was still alive. Of course this brought problems, because she stabbed a man repeatedly. Something had to have happened. This man planned on suing  her parents and getting Himiko sent to juvenile detention. That was all too troublesome. Kuriko swiftly took care of the situation. She wondered why the man even showed up at their school. should  he not have went to her parents with this? Thinking about it, it wouldn't do him very much good. Her parents could care less. Either way Kuriko handled it. She altered the man's memory. Of course by doing that she would have to mess with multiple individual's memories, so she had a busy morning. 

She was still a bit angry about it.

Kuriko was soon outside of her school and Himiko caught up to her. The silent girl was still ignoring the blonde as she walked off the school property. She was on her own today. Nozomi And Nemuri had work so she would be going home on her own. 

"Kuriko can I spend another night? "Himiko asked again, sounding hopeful

Kuriko shook her head no. One night was enough. 

"Fine" Himiko mumbled but still beamed. 

Of course. Kuriko realized that the girl now knew where she lived and would be coming whether she liked it or not. This is the reason Kuriko regretted it all. 

Such a bother.

A sigh left Inko's lip as she closed the door behind her. She had another unsuccessful job interview. What was she to do? The handful of money she had wouldn't last her very long. She needed to find a Job as soon as possible. It was harder than expected. She had been a nurse for so long. She didn't know if there was anything else she was good at. She loved her job. It made her useful. She was needed. She could help. Now she was just...

She didn't bother thinking about it. She needed to get dinner ready for Izuku. He has been coming home later these past few days. He always goes to Dangobah park. He never told her what it is he was doing there. During the weekend he would be there from six in the morning to six in the evening. On school days he would come home for a short amount of time. She didn't know what he was up to, but she did notice a few changes. They were mostly physical changes. He was building muscle. She hardly noticed it at first. Izuku tended to wear baggy clothes. Either way she noticed and figured he must be doing some form of training. She connected that with  the beach and deducted that he must be cleaning it in a form of exercise. It was logical, she supposed. 

Her thoughts remained on her son as she gathered ingredients. Izuku was still trying to get into UA. It was a relief because he had been acting so differently that she feared she had lost him completely. She didn't know how to help him. He was trying to process something and she could do nothing . He didn't like talking about it. He never tells her how he feels. What he's going through. Nothing. She didn't push him. She let him be, but kept a close eye on him. 

She sighed when she almost cut her finger. It's best she focused on what she was doing with the knife. 

Things were suddenly harder than usual and she couldn't ask for help. She could never ask for help. No one would help her. She had to learn to do things on her own and things were going great until now. Suddenly everything is going downhill. What had she done wrong? She had to have done something wrong. She always does something wrong. She always messes something up. 

Everyone always leaves. 

She lost her mother. She Lost her father. She lost her brother. She lost her husband. She almost lost her son. 

it was frustrating to think about, but  sometimes it's all she could think about. It was painful. She couldn't lose Izuku. She would do anything for him. She wanted to be the best parent, but she obviously wasn't. She made multiple mistakes. Those mistakes lead to Izuku becoming who he now is. 

She almost cut herself again and snapped out of her thoughts. She should really be careful, lest she worry Izuku. 

It's best she not drown herself in her thoughts. She might not resurface.

"What in the world are you doing? "

Mitsuki stood near a window overseeing the backyard and watched her son constantly punch their poor tree. Why was he doing that? His knuckles and fingers were already bruised. He would be bleeding soon and yet he refused to stopped. He seemed highly determined. What did he want to do that required him to hurt himself like that? Recently he had been leaving the house at a certain time and returning at dusk. She never asked where he was going. She figured he wouldn't want to tell. Today he didn't leave the house. He spent most of his days in his room, as he usually did nowadays. Around the late afternoon he came out to the back yard and starting hitting their tree. 

"Why is he doing that? " Masaru asked in worry as he leaned over his wife's shoulder. "He's hurting himself"

Mitsuki sighed and looked away. She should stop him but knew it would be futile. She'll at least be ready with a medkit to fix him up. 

"He's feeling guilty, isn't he? " Masaru asked knowingly as he watched his son. "He blames himself for what Izuku did"

"Yes"

Mitsuki still had not told Masaru of what had happened. Katsuki didn't want his father knowing and she couldn't betray the boy's trust like that. It wasn't something she liked doing. Inko needed to know, but she could not tell her . It hurt seeing her best friend  go through all of this. She blamed herself and questioned why her son would do such a thing. She tried to reassure her, but nothing worked. It's been a while since they last talked. She hoped Inko was doing well. 

"You're worried about Inko, aren't you?  " Masaru asked as if sensing his wife's worries and thoughts. He was always good with people. 

"Of course I am, she's practically my sister" Mitsuki sighed as she retrieved the medkit. "She wasn't doing so hot the last time we talked. I don't even know what's going on with her now "

"Why don't you call? "

"It's no use. She hardly answers the phone and when she does she doesn't want to talk about her struggles"

"Then go over"

"I should, shouldn't I? "

His  hands were bloodied now. He could hardly feel the pain. His hands were almost numb from constantly hitting the tree. Why had he done that? He planned on training. Seeing as Izuku was going to UA he felt like he needed to continue to persue his dreams too. For some reason he felt as if he owed it to the boy. As if he had to prove himself or something. He didn't know what convinced him to hurt himself as he did. 

He went back into the house, planing on going back to his room. Someone grabbed him by the collar and dragged him towards the living room with a strenght he was not expecting. 

"Let go"

"No, I need to fix you up"

"I'm fine"

"Oh and the blood on your hands is of no concern?"

Katsuki said nothing and let his mother seat him on their couch. She took his left hand in her right and proceeded to clean the blood off with a wet cloth. At the touch he flinched, finally feeling the pain. His mother apologized and continued very gently.



"Why did you  do this, Katsuki? "

"I don't know" 

He really didn't. He didn't intend to. He was going to train. He didn't plan on hurting himself. He just ended up doing it. He let himself be overtaken by his emotions. 

"Don't do it again" Mitsuki's voice wasn't as stern as usual and Katsuki noticed. It was more of a plea than an order. She was worried. 

Katsuki didn't say anything to that. He just stared at his bloodied hand. 

He felt pathetic, but that was nothing new.

Izuku sat in front of his computer, scrolling through the results he had gotten. He had four months remaining. Four more months and he would get a chance at UA. He had been training his body for five months and has seen improvement. Despite that he was still not very proud. His achievements didn't matter to him. He didn't know why he couldn't be proud of himself. He just couldn't. He figured it's because he's not doing things correctly. He can't just train his body. It would do him little if he  did not know any form of martial arts. What would be the point of his training if he couldn't fight to defend himself. He didn't know how to fight. It's best he learns from an expert, so he looked up classes online. It didn't matter much to him what he would be learning. He just needed to fight. 

After some  time of brushing over most of what he saw he stopped at some point. Free martial arts training is what he saw. He stared at the words his computer displayed. He looked skeptical. Why would someone train others for free? Why so generous? Despite himself he clicked on the words and watched an ad pop up. He paid little attention to it and only focused on the address. 

He raised an eyebrow when he read it. 

"An abandoned warehouse? " he leaned back in his seat and eyed his window. Well, isn't that the most perfect place for free training. It was very fishy. 

He shrugged. What's he got to lose except for his limbs and his life? 

"If I die I die"

Kuriko was ignoring the tug on her arm as she made her way back home. Himiko was trying to get her to stop . She spotted a couple of bullies harrashing a pregnant street dog and told Kuriko. Of course the girl didn't show much. 

"Kuriko, the dog"

It's a dog. A street dog. These things happen every day. What's the point of stopping the bullies if the dog will have to go through the same thing the very next day? They'll just be giving the poor animal false hope. 

"But she's pregnant" Himiko protested as she tried to pull Kuriko towards the scene. Since when was the silent girl so strong? 

Kuriko didn't budge and continued her walk. She didn't even chance a look at the blonde when she released her arm. She heared her footsteps retreat  and had an idea of what she would be doing. Kuriko sighed and stopped when she heard some panicked screams. Himiko was lucky no one was actually around except for those bullies. Of course she would go and kill the fools for bullying  a dog. Of course Kuriko didn't bat an eye at the bloody scene. She just watched with an exasperated expression as Himiko gleefully stabbed the boys with the knife she carried around. Kuriko didn't understand how  they could fail to restrain her. There were four of them and just one  Himiko. 

The blonde was covered in blood when the boys were taken care off. There was the familair crazed smile on her face and look in her eyes. She giggled with joy as she licked the blood off her knife. Five hunts in one  day. How joyous. 

Kuriko eyed the brown dog that was coweromg in a corner. She was malnourished and hairless in a few regions. Kuriko could easily see her ribs and wondered how this dog survived. She was pregnant no less. 

With a sigh Kuriko retrieved a sizable box and placed the dog within. She refrained from touching her, knowing that the thing had fleas . With the frightened dog in the box she willed the darkness to take her and Himiko. 

She didn't know what the hell she was going to do with  the dog, but she took the dog.

Why were they so cruel ? Why did they have to treat her differently just because she was different? It wasn't her fault. She didn't choose to be this way. She didn't choose to be different. It wasn't her choice. So why? Why was she being treated as if she brought this on herself? Why was she treated as if she did something wrong? She never hurt anyone. She never did any wrong. 

So why? 

Simple. She came to realize that the word was a cruel place no matter how much they tried to disguise it. 

If the world didn't care about her, why should she care about the world? 

No mater what she did, no one would hear her anyway. 

She was voiceless

P.O.V: Sarutobi Hiruzen

After little confrontation with Naruto, I'm back at the office. I sat in my chair and thinking deeply about what happened earlier. Naruto did matured a lot. In fact discovering about his heritage and burden on his own is small feat. Villagers and councilors couldn't figure out his heritage in last 11 years while he did in a day. Well, he never asked me to do anything for him but today he did. He always tried to solve all his problems on own. He asked me to arrange him a better apartment in shinobi district. Well, this district is known for better security as it home for majority of shinobi. That's not gonna be a problem. Shinobi side has no prejudice against him. And he also asked me to arrange someone to train him. I think I have a best candidate for that. So I knocked my twice and an ANBU appeared in front of me.

Hokage: " Get me Dog."
ANBU: " yes, Hokage-sama"

Then he disappeared, after ten minute an ANBU with dog mask appeared in front of me.

Dog: " I'm at your service, Lord Hokage "
Hokage: " remove your mask, Kakashi."
After pondering for while Kakashi removed his dog mask.

Hokage: " I know that you wanted to retire from you ANBU commander job at the end of year to become jonin Then make a team consisting of Sasuke Uchiha. Am I right?"
Kakashi: " yes, lord Hokage. That is my intention."
Hokage: " okay, I want you to give you an additional job right now. Your new job will be training Naruto after the academy time. You will train him to make him best. I'll not accept any mediocre result like you did in the past while training others. You can take help from others occasionally."
Kakashi: " Sir, why me? And Naruto? What will council say about training their so-called demon?"
Hokage: " Kakashi, control your words."

I glared at Kakashi with killing intent. He seemed to sweating. He quickly replied back,

Kakashi: " Sir, it's not like that I have anything against him. In fact I will gladly train him. It just I can't guarantee about council."

I was satisfied with his answer. So I walked toward him and whispered in his ear.

Hokage: " and yeah, He is your sensei's son. Let me take care of council and you should just focus on him."

Kakashi stared at me blankly like I dropped bomb on him…

Normal P.O.V

Today I got released from the hospital. I was walking on the street. I was hungry. So I made my way to Ichiraku's. Teuchi and Ayame was really happy to see me. I talked with them for while and ordered ramen. After finishing ramen, I walked back to ex-naruto's apartment.

It seems a shabby uncleaned apartment with no water and electric supply. 'die demon', ' hell with demon' etc is written in the wall. Instant ramen pack and milk packets spread everywhere on the floor.
I truly wonder how did ex-naruto lived here all this year. Forget it. I will stay here just for today.

Oh I seemed to forget the Phoenix egg I got earlier. I took it out of INVENTORY and looked at it. It seemed to be slightly bigger than normal egg with flame pattern. Now for hatching.

Naruto: " system, how can I hatch this egg?"
System: " Put bit of your chakra then wait for 5 minute."

I did accordingly. After 5 minute, the egg hatched and a cute delicate little bird with no feather came out. I fed it some meat. After a while it went to sleep.

I sat in my bed then thinking. Oh I forgot about Instant dungeon ability. It had only two option right now.
1. Empty world
2. Zombie world

I was thinking to go dungeon. So I muttered 'ID creation- empty world'. Huh, there seems nothing changed. I looked outside window. The village seem to be barren for years.
Then I said 'ID escape'. Everything returned to normal. Now let's try the zombies. I muttered 'ID creation- zombie world'. Then the world outside changed. Sky became blood-red. Streets seems to be gloomy and dark. Its like the apocalypse.

I was walking through street suddenly got ambushed by a hundred zombies. When then they sensed me, they began to target me. I activated rinne-sharingan and
Instinctively said 'SHINRA TENSEI'
