Seven years after rescuing Jame Gumb's last victim, Clarice Starling witnesses her career crumble around her. A drug raid goes wrong and Starling kills an armed meth dealer in self-defense: the dealer was carrying her own baby while shooting at Starling. Hannibal Lecter, who has been living in Florence, Italy, under an assumed name since escaping custody, sends her a letter of condolence and requests more information about her personal life. Desperate to catch Lecter, the FBI finds a use for Starling once again. She meets with Barney Matthews, former orderly of Baltimore State Hospital for the Criminally Insane. He tells her what Lecter said about her and that he said he would never go after her if he escaped.

Meanwhile, Mason Verger, a wealthy, sadistic pedophile who was left horribly disfigured after a "therapy session" with Lecter, plans to get revenge by feeding Lecter to wild boars, using Starling as bait. He is aided by corrupt Justice Department agent Paul Krendler, Starling's nemesis.

A disgraced Florentine detective, Rinaldo Pazzi, also pursues Lecter in the interests of collecting Verger's bounty on him. However, Lecter kills one of Pazzi's men and hangs Pazzi where his ancestor, Francesco de Pazzi, was hanged in 1478. Lecter waves at a camera, the footage of which is later seen by Verger. Lecter kills one of Verger's men and escapes to the United States, where he begins pursuing Starling.

The novel briefly touches upon Lecter's childhood, specifically the death of his beloved younger sister, Mischa. The two were orphaned during World War II, and a group of German deserters found them on their family estate and took them prisoner. The Germans, after checking the limbs of both siblings, had taken Mischa away. Lecter later found some of Mischa's milk teeth in a stool pit used by the deserters, indicating to young Hannibal that they had killed and eaten his sister.

Barney briefly works for Verger, and gets acquainted with Verger's sister and bodyguard Margot, a lesbian bodybuilder whom Verger molested and raped as a child. Their friendship is briefly strained when he makes a pass at her, but they eventually reconcile, and Margot tells him that she stays in her hated brother's employment because she needs Mason's sperm to have a child with her partner, Judy.

Lecter is captured by Verger's men, and Starling pursues them, determined to bring Lecter in herself. One of Verger's men shoots her full of tranquilizer as she releases Lecter. The wild boars break through the barricade separating them from Lecter, but they lose interest in their intended prey when they smell no fear on him, instead going after Verger's men. In the confusion, Lecter carries the unconscious Starling to safety, and escapes with her. At the same time, Margot forcibly obtains Mason's sperm by sodomizing him with a cattle prod, and then kills him by shoving his pet Moray eel down his throat. Lecter, who had briefly treated Margot after her brother abused her, has urged her to blame the murder on him, which she does by leaving one of his hairs at the scene.

Using a regimen of psychotropic drugs and behavioral therapy, Lecter attempts to brainwash Starling, hoping to make her believe she is Mischa, returned to life. She ultimately proves too strong, however, and tells him that Mischa will have to live on within him. Lecter captures Krendler and lobotomizes him, and then he and Starling dine on Krendler's prefrontal cortex, sauteed with shallots, before Lecter kills him. The two then become lovers, and disappear together.

Three years later, Barney and his girlfriend go to Buenos Aires to see a Vermeer painting. At the opera, Barney spots Lecter and Starling; fearing for his life, he flees with his girlfriend.

Arthur and Curtis reached to the North River before the night. North River was a huge and great city.

North River hasn't been builded next to the walls of the maze like Gold River. The city had three main walls.

The outside walls were the main walls to protect the city. There were a lot of knights and warriors at the outer walls. Also between the outer walls and the second walls the people of the North River were living. Between the second wall and the third wall there were guilds and the clan buildings. And at the center of the North River, there was management buildings and a monument of the hero who founded North River.

They entered from the city's doors fast since Curtis was a clan leader.

While they were traveling through the second walls, Arthur was looking around.

There were a lot of stores and restaurants. The buildings of the North River was also different than the Gold River.

When they were crossing from the streets, he was seeing the people who are challenging each other on the fights and the people drinking together.

Arthur,

"Do the people know the war is coming?"

Curtis,

"They probably know. But most of the people trust to the walls of the North River. Some say, the stone of the walls gifted to the North River clans by the maze masters."

"Do you mean that walls have the same stone?"

"Who knows. Maybe they have, maybe they don't have."

"This city is huge than Gold River."

"Yes, it is. Since Gold River's economic power comes from the trade, the job opportunities are really less at the Gold River."

Arthur was looking to the city and he wanted to travel the city. Maybe he could learn something useful in the North River.

"Curtis, I will travel the city. I will come next to you guys later."

Curtis turned to Arthur and he gave a necklace to him,

"If you want to enter from the second walls, you have to show this necklace at the door."

Arthur got the necklace from Curtis and,

"Thanks."

Curtis,

"And don't be late. If Ragnar is in the city, I bet you have something to talk with him."

"Yes, we have a lot. Thanks again Curtis."

"No Arthur, I should have thank to you. You helped us to reach to the city."

After speaking a minute or so with Curtis, Arthur started to walk in the streets of the North River.

While he was walking in the city, he found a store that sells armors and weapons. There were lots of people at both outside and inside of it.

He decided to enter and look what they had got in the store. Maybe they had the third ancient sword. Arthur thought on his mind,

"If the sword is somewhere near, maybe I can learn who opened the door."

While he was walking towards the shop, he realized that the shop's building was also a well designed huge building.

As he came close to the shop, he started to hear other people talking. Some of them were standing on somewhere and some of them were playing games.

He heard an old man's speech,

"I don't care what you say about them. This Gold River is too dangerous. They are gaining all these gold for years. They want to spend the gold that they have. They want to annex our city. Even maybe they offered gold to the leaders of the clans for buying the city. We must fight."

The other man next to him who look younger shouted excitedly and spoke quickly,

"You are right! We must show our strength to the Gold River!"

Than a woman that has red hairs and brown eyes who was entering to the store spoke to the men who were talking about the incoming war,

"Are you sure about that? The Westonian knights are so scared about the Maze Dragon that they can't even return to their kingdom."

The men,

"You are right Lady Rose!"

After that Arthur focused on a different group who were talking about the weapon prices.

He stayed outside for a while to learn new information about the North River before entering to the store.

When he entered to the store, he saw a huge saloon with many staff who are helping to the people to buy the weapons or guiding to the people for finding the weapon that they want.

There were lots of weapons not just swords.

While he was walking in the store, two people were buying a weapon at that time. A woman bought a shining sword and a man bought a bow.

A staff came close to the Arthur and asked what was he looking. Arthur just said that he was looking for something interesting.

While the store staff was showing some weapons which are being told as unique by the staff a man came close to the Arthur.

Arthur ignored the man when he passed but then a lightning flashed in Arthur's thoughts. He was Barney.

Arthur looked to him and tried to understand what he was doing there.

He thanked to the store staff and started to follow Barney.

Barney got out from the store and entered to a street. He was walking fast but Arthur was still seeing him.

Then he suddenly entered to an old building that next to him.

Arthur was thinking in his mind whether if they were going to attack the city or not.

Arthur thought,

"So they entered to the city somehow. But there is something important, even Vanessa's knights are here something is happening."

Then he noticed the opened window of the building and entered to the building from the window.

He tried to understand where he was. The room that he entered wasn't getting to much light from the window since the sun was about to down.

After waiting for a while, his eyes adapted to the room's darkness and he found the door of the room. He opened the door and saw a hallway which was lightened by a lamp.

He heard some speeches from the room that is at the end of the hallway. He walked quietly and when he was next to the door he stopped and started listening the speeches.

"What do you have Barney?"

"I don't have a lot. The people are talking still same things and they won't attack to us."

"What do you mean?"

"They know that we are scared of the Maze Dragon."

"We are not Barney, we are just not taking any risks."

"Tell this to my ass."

Barney started talking again after going next to the window of the room,

"This is too dangerous. Why do we even do that?"

"I wasn't willing to come here with you. Shut up! If the princess Vanessa didn't want you to come with me I wouldn't come with you."

"Yes, just because of that damn Arthur. I think she has feelings for him. I'm glad that she finally loves someone but that Arthur is a trouble maker."

"Shut up! We have more important things to discuss. We have to report."

"Yes, we have to. I don't know how to do that. You can do this, right?"

"Okey I'm writing the letter."

The man started to write the letter while Barney was looking from window to the street.

Barney started talking suddenly,

"You know what, I saw a lady today. She was super beautiful with his read hairs, Lady Rose."

"So you have time to chat with the ladies but don't have time to gather information. Well done Barney!"

"I was gathering information for all the day. I just chatted with her a little. Don't be jealous."

"Okey, whatever it is. We have to focus on our topic. They won't attack to the Gold River which is a great new for us. So we just have to took down that Ragnar guy and learn what he knows about Arthur."

"Even if you learn something about Arthur, that won't be enough. I saw him fighting with Andrew. He is skilled."

The man laughed and spoke,

"Barney we are just gathering information. Do you really think that we will fight with him. They are sending more experienced knights than Andrew."

"Andrew is good too."

"Yes, but he lacks experience."

"I don't know. I saw him when he was training and traveling around with princess. I won't fight with him, just know that okey."

"Are you scared of him?"

"Are you an idiot? Everybody was talking about him in the city. They believe that he is the Ragnar's cousin."

"Maybe he is."

"He is not, I know that much."

While Arthur was listening their speech he sensed a magic user coming to the building and he returned to the room that he entered to building.

A woman entered to the building and went to the room where Barney and the other guy was talking.

Arthur was able to hide his magic but he was just doing it with an instinct.

He returned to the place where he listened Barney but this time he found a spot for looking to the room.

He first saw the long black haired guy who was writing the letter. Arthur wasn't seeing his face since he turned his back to the Arthur.

But he was able to see Barney and the woman talking with him. He froze when he saw her. Because she was Vanessa.

Arthur was shocked to see her in here. If she would find out Arthur was in the city, that would be big problem.

Arthur was scaring too much, just because Arthur knew she was angry to him a lot.

Arthur was also thinking how impressive Vanessa is. But then he thought this wasn't time for that.

Vanessa,

"I've entered to the meeting of the leaders."

Both Barney and Arthur were shocked. They bought thought how was that possible?

Barney,

"How did you do that?"

"I didn't show my face and created some illusions to hide my magic."

Barney and Arthur were impressed this time.

Vanessa shouted happily,

"He is here Barney!"

Barney,

"No way! Are you sure?"

"Yes I am."

"How did you find it out?"

"There is a man called Curtis who is the leader of the Ice Castle Clan. He talked about the Ragnar's cousin in the meeting who is…."

Barney,

"Arthur!"

Vanessa continued,

"Yes, he is Arthur. But as I understand he suddenly wanted to travel in the city. At least that's why Curtis told."

Vanessa suddenly realized something, she knew how smart Arthur was.

"Where have you been all day Barney?"

"I was traveling in the city."

"Did someone see you?"

"What are you talking about?"

"He suddenly changed his way and he didn't arrive to the second walls yet. That's because he saw you isn't it?"

"What, I was doing my mission. Nobody told me that he is at the city!"

"You idiot! Do you know what have you done?"

Barney,

"Let your love of your life to escape from the city."

Vanessa shouted angrily,

"No it is not! Why are you calling like that! It doesn't mean that I love him when I have some feelings for him."

Barney, Arthur and the spy shouted together,

"What?"

That was the moment Arthur realized that he shouted and Vanessa heard that.

Vanessa turned back, walked in the room and saw him,

Arthur,

"Hey how have you been Vanessa?"

Vanessa talked with a growing fire in her eyes,

"You are dead."

Arthur,

"I am, right?"

Before the maze was constructed, there was the ancient empires known with their magnificent powers.

When the ancient empires were being weakened day by day with their continuous wars between them, a man who called himself as dark emperor showed up and declared war to every empire.

Many empires and kingdoms fell in the wind of war that caused by the dark emperor.

While the hopes for the peace were almost lost, Forgotten Masters constructed a maze to protect people from the war of the ancient empires.

Maze succeed to protect the people from the war of the ancient empires and even from the dark emperor himself.

Years have passed but the history never changed.

When the people started a new war inside the maze, Arthur woke up in a dark dusty room and just managed to survive somehow but with a problem, who was Arthur?

This is the story of a man, who tries to learn his past while the bells of the war is ringing.


"Wait—what?" it dawned on them what Lumi meant. 
"It never stopped. The tribe ended up scarce in the 1800s due to the curse and colonizers," the lack of concern was quite concerning. "But Father told me the local tribe wasn't the only one to suffer from that curse. There were countless others. The tribes were not the only victims. Colonizers were too, and they did different kinds of treatments to try and stop it. Nothing truly worked. It was as if the curse was a void. It only grew bigger as it was fed." 
The two men shared a look. There goes their five-year normal life living. Though for Matthos, normalcy was never his thing. His excitement grew, although it may have been attributed to his family's legacy. 
"Lumi, dearest," Barney started," When you say that it never stopped and the tribe went scarce, does that mean this is only the start?" He gulped, already thinking of Matthos's parents, who were in City A. That meant they were in danger. The thought also dawned on Matthos, who quickly asked, 
"Lumi, was there a sort of talisman back then that shielded those who were able to escape?" 
"My father tried, and I think it saved a child," Lumi frowned, "Though it involved alchemy and the occult arts."
"Shoot!" Barney made the two jump in surprise, "Alchemy, my bro. Prima materia; that means you need to transfigure a soul into a talisman."
"Please don't tell me it's the Philosopher's Stone," Matthos groaned, tired of that universal medicine of and banner of alchemy. Even Lumi looked offended, 
"Of course not! No! But it was a volatile process, from what I remember. It included several stages of purification, and the ingredients were not common."
"What were the ingredients, Lumi? And what did your Father do to protect the both of you?" he continued his queries while Barney drank his sad coffee. She glanced at him and winced, finding the scent rancid. With bunny eyes, she gave her full attention to Matthos. At first, he wondered why Lumi was making the beautiful eyes on him until he noticed the empty cup.
He chuckled and rinsed it and then made another cup of caramel macchiato as an eager Lumi gave a grin of victory. Barney just kept his silence. Inside, he found the scene heartwarming. If they weren't talking about a potential pandemic, he would've wanted to take a photo. 

Lumi's greyish hair, the color of a dragon's beard, curled like that of a doll's and reached her shoulder. Her elfin features would definitely make it into Matthos's gallery. 
'Well, that got me distracted,' he thought and observed his friend's body language. He's gentle towards her but in full alert mode. 
'Interesting…'
"So Lumi, what did your Father do to protect the kid?" Matthos continued
"Wait a minute," Barney said, but Lumi did not catch what the phrase meant, "It means hold on," he explained. "Why weren't you affected?" 
That caught her off-guard, "I'm not sure, really. We didn't hear it, but the rest of the village did, and the tribe suffered the most."
"We keep getting off track, I mean getting away from the original conversation," Matthos clarified, "What were the ingredients, Lumi?" 
Lumi set the cup down, her brows wrinkled in concentration. "Tears of Wren, the blood of a predator, a chunk of fool's gold, and a piece of ivory," she stated.
"What will come out of that talisman?" Barney asked.
"Well, if my memory serves me well, it will be half gold and silver. There is a sign that of a deity: Dian Masalanta, the goddess of love and peace. She imbedded a wreath of May-blooming flowers in the coin-like talisman."
"What in the—where are you from, Lumi?" Barney was lost. Dian Masalanta was the goddess of love and peace in Philippine mythology. Also, the same deities worshipped long ago in Physma and several cities that Filipinos have migrated to. If Lumi knew Dian Masalanta, then she must be from somewhere connected by land bridges or brought by trades. 
"Se De" 
Silence ensued
"Well, that's anti-climactic," Barney commented, "Scratch that from the board right now. What's important is the tribe worshipped deities similar or the same ones in Philippine mythology. That narrows down our list, right?" 
Matthos replied, "Bad news: that broadens our research. We're talking Philippine gods and goddesses, deities and creatures. Throw alchemy, occult arts, and purification. That means that this is an unsolved case with little to no lead."
That crushed the two's spirits, to which Matthos tried to remedy, 
"Good news, it's not the philosopher's stone," he said weakly, only receiving glares. At least he tried.

"It all started with a lullaby. With a voice more melodic than a nightingale's but a heart colder than winter. Hatred led to the death of the innocent. A blood sacrifice was made. Lullabies glorify death. You'll know why. For now, listen to the Wintertide's Lullaby." 
Lumi never knew what safety felt like. When she did, she never wanted to let it go. Life had other plans for her, but fate had sympathy and gave her a gift. She will never be alone ever again. 
Matthos Trem wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, but his heart was always in the right place. In the midst of a pandemic, he finds himself entangled with a creature never encountered by anyone before. With his best friend, Barney Matthos goes on an adventure to discover the pearl of the orient sea and find the answer to what is killing his people. And Lumi is both the answer and the question.

Matthos chuckled, “So it was like that?” 

Judging from the circumstances he found her in, she should’ve been dead. She’s barely alive, he noted. He snapped back to reality as the wind grew stronger. The storm will only get stronger from then on. His time was limited. 

With that, Matthos carefully took her in his arms. She was barely breathing. He felt the burning need to save her, an unfamiliar feeling like never before. Without further ado, he walked away, leaving the fountain and the peaceful life he believed he would lead from then on.

The church was packed to the brim. By the time the service had started it was already eight o'clock. There was something magical in the somber atmosphere that was settling in under the arched marble vaults, that domineered three stories high above our heads. You do try, I suppose, to find peace of mind and easiness when moving around, doing your stuff, but it's so hard to find any equilibrium when you're so often pecked at by the thought that the kids in this town learn in an abandoned barn, while the parish, built on tax-payers money, stands aloft on a five-hectare surrounding, adorned with real gold and silver polish on all its four sides. This thought was even more strongly fueled by the scars of the impoverished lives I read on the faces of young mothers (some of them teenagers), who were sat in the pews, holding their toddlers close to the chest and nodding their heads, not only to silence the young ones, but also as a sort of calming mantra for their own bodies and soul.

Audrey squeezed in between two rows of pews, at the back, and in a normal church that might have attracted the attention of those already seated, but not in St Joseph's, which had an aura of an Italian opera house, with pews on both the ground floor and another upper level (the balcony), plus elegant booths on both sides of the nave. All in all, you could cram about eight hundred people in here, but, tonight, there must have been over one thousand. The altar boys were still, diligently bringing in extra chairs for the congregation. And if, God-forbid, a fire had engulfed the church with all these people inside and only one exit door, I doubt the divine words of Father Mitchell would've been sufficient to save many of the faithful brethren.

Audrey led me to a trio of seats, close to a replica mural of what I could only believe was 'The Adoration Of St Virgin Mary', which actually impressed me to the bits. It had a very modern air about it and was an welcomed deviation from some of the Byzantines and copies of Rembrandts you normally see on the interior walls of Methodist churches. I looked at the silver plates, nailed to the upper rail of the chair, and they read 'M. Galloway'. This is Audrey's last name and I believe M stands for Michael, her adoptive father. I had heard you can get your name carved on a plate at this church, but I never thought it was for real, and, especially, not like booking a table at a restaurant, in one name only. This was kind of creepy and kind of cute the same time. Creepy like 'you have been nailed like Jesus to a fucking piece of wood and you'd better stay faithful for the rest of your life', and cute like 'oh, look, you've got your own chair with your name on it:=)'.

'Still up for it?' Audrey asked, as she took her seat.

'Yes.' Too late to back away from this, anyway. But the truth was that, for some reason, I welcomed this quiet time, only to be able to ease off the pressure of entertaining Audrey or checking whether she was alright all the time. And, just out of sheer curiosity, the last time I had been to the church was five years ago, when Ella wanted to listen to Christmas Carols at St Peter's, New York.  This time, at least, I was able to sit down.

I looked around, took all this in and thought that this was the last thing I imagined I would be doing today when I went to bed last night. Hell, it would have been the least fathomable thing I'd imagined doing at one point this afternoon, when I was stranded on a two-square meter rock, one hundred feet above the ground, thinking 'this is it'. Now I was sat, with all the locals, like the entire world had ended, and we'd all gathered to decide what to do next and, strangely this made me feel more relaxed than I had imagined. Maybe because I felt I mattered; if only for short periods of time; until Father Mitchell started talking; when I realized it was all about him.

'I know why you are all here', started the preacher, and I was thinking he would, just for the sake for laugh, say 'because I arranged this to happen' but, no! He said: 'You are all here because you are unable to sleep, work or raise your families, or feel that you are able to do anything with your lives that matters. And you cannot quite put your finger on what's that thing that troubles your mind and causes such havoc in your lives. I'll tell you what it is: it is feeling lost. It is being unable to find the light and open your heart to the word of God. And for all that everybody tells you that "God lives within you and is capable of working miracles through you and guiding you to eternal life", well, let me tell those who say this to you: It is all bullshit!. It is all bullshit, with a big, fat 'B'. Our Lord is not able to work any miracles through you, or give you that fancy car you've always wanted or help you give the education to your kids, that you want, not for the life of Ten Holy Marys and five Hallelujahs! At least, not as long as you don't respect the values and sharings carved with golden scribblings on the stones Moses brought to his people or of those written in the book of our King Solomon. Now, it has been brought to my attention that occasional acts of larceny have been occurring in our community. And just to speak in broad public terms, only because I see so many new faces in here tonight who may not be accustomed to our vocabulary, larceny is what we call in religious term theft. Now, the last time I checked, we were taking great pride in being a close and respected community where sacrilege was not part of our current vocabulary. But that was the last time I checked... and I see now, I was wrong. Now, it may happen that, as I walk down the street, eating an ice-cream cone or going around doing my chores, or buying the Palo Alto Daily Post from across the road at Diego Loja's convenience store, it may happen that I see a piece of machinery lying about Jeremy Price's garage and think to myself '"hey, that's actually quite a good piece of machinery. It's sitting about in the main yard of the auto service and it's not being used by anyone, so I might just as well take it home and put it to some good use for my old Buick, 1987 model. I mean, it's not guarded or anything. Jeremy Price is not here because I see the padlock to the front door, so he doesn't need it. He must have thrown it away. There was no more place in the garbage dumpster so he just left it there for someone to make good use of, or sell it for a nickel or two at the wrecking yard". Well, let me tell you something! The garbage dumpster was not full. Jeremy Price didn't just chuck it away, because there was no more space for that piece of machinery, and the reason it was locked is because it was a Sunday morning, and Jeremy Price, a good man of Lord as he is, was here, sat in the fifth row, following my readings from Exodus 20:15, which, by the way, is a sermon about theft! Now, I'm looking at Barney Dingles here and I see he's not following, at all. Good to see ya', Barney! How long has it been? Now, that's the image of a man who respects himself. He comes to church only when meteorites fall out of the sky!', and the priest chuckled. 'And Barney is not the only one, am I right?' And the priest took a deep look around the room. 'I am right. Of course I'm right. Well, Barney, you should know better than that! Now, don't lower your head young man, for my words are nothing compared to the wrath of God, or of that Jeremy Price, for that matter. I look at you and I have looked at you all these years, while you were mucking about, wasting your time, and I see a man who is lost and cannot find faith anymore. And I don't care what your mama thinks! I've known your mama for thirty-five years, and if she had any love for God, she would stay away from this conversation between a pastor and his devotee, for all the love I have for her, this is not about her and she should stay away and not intervene. You hear that, mama? I don't care about you now. I don't care about any of you, for that matter. I told Priscilla the other day: Priscilla, we'll sell the house; we sell everything and we go preach to the bunch of lepers that we read about in the paper, the other day, who are waiting... who are waiting to die, out there in the valleys of Eastern Kentucky. And I betya I would go and find more love for Jesus there than I would ever find in this town, for all the money in the world, that is. Because it's not worth it here. Now, let me tell everyone to make it clear. I love Barney and I love his family, but he's a grown man and he should know better...we don't go about stealing things from other people. You hear me, Barney? I love ya. More than you will ever know. I know your mama loves you but I love you, too. In a different way. Now, what Barney did here is a product of misjudgment. And misjudgment is something that we all experience at certain moments of our lives. Now, I don't want you to go to Barney and reprimand him for what he's done. This is my job and the job of God, to mess with him. It is my job to make Barney feel shame in public and that is his punishment for stealing a piece of property which is not his. And, after I have finished with him, that would have been all, and I don't wanna hear anymore about this, or about any repercussions against Barney Dingles. Is that clear? Good. Amen to that. Let's get to the matters at hand, now. 

I glanced at Audrey and she passed her fingers through my fingers. And my heart trembled.

'It so happens that at times of trouble, when the world is divided and we cannot get adjusted one with another, that God Almighty sends us a reminder of His strength and power and the things that matter and of those that don't. He did so when he sent the great Deluge over Noah's Ark and when he split the oceans for Moses and his people. And now, He's doing it again, sending a rock from outer space to remind us that there are greater, more important things in life than the small speckles of arguments and fights we take so much joy from in our petty lives. It also happens that at night, when the moon finally wins the battle over the mighty Sun, it's the time when the greatest adjustments in the history of mankind take place; the time when we get closer to God through our evening prayer; the time Jesus was born in a shed, in Bethlehem; or the time when He had His last supper with his disciples. It is a moment of introversion and pondering, which is why I thought this is a better time for this sermon than our usual morning time. And while I do not think meteorites are a sign of the end of times, like I heard some of our members yelling these past few days, I do think they are a reminder that we need to get closer to God and His truth before the end of times really loom upon us, and that this quest is at its most urgent, more than going about and prolonging a life of sin and self-indulgence. I look around and I see that we need to adjust a few things fast and quickly. Well, for one thing, I don't how many of the noble gathering tonight know the word of Jesus and the Bible. Not many, based on the amount of idiocies I hear around me when I go about my things in town. Speaking of the birth of Jesus, I was asked by Jim Coleridge the other day what the names of the Three Kings in the Bible were. If good ole' Jim had bothered to honor us with his presence more often he would have known that the three kings are Caspar, Balthazar and Melchior. But he did something good Jim Coleridge, I tell ya. He did dare ask if there was something he didn't know the answer to, which is more I can say about the amount of silent sheep who come to church to nod off, because, "why not"? They might as well do that here than in the comfort of their beds. It's as good a place as any. Well, coming all the way down here to nod off doesn't count as coming to church.'

I was surprised Father Mitchell didn't stop and look up when he said this, because somebody in the congregation shouted something, which to me resembled something like Hail! or Heil!. I turned to Audrey and she was startled as well. 'I don't know who it was,' she told me, and we both looked around and, with us, several other heads. It'd came from the upper level of the nave and was distinctively perky and acute, while being frail at the same time, almost like the cry of a child or a young woman. It was brief, happened only once and no harm had been done, but I would have wanted Mitchell to react it to it, if only for the sake of him throwing a fit again.

Mitchell went and babbled on for another few more minutes, but he was starting to lose his touch because I can't think of anything of note to write down here, after his opening words. The whole thing felt like going to watch a much-anticipated blockbuster at a movie theatre, which had a great opening but then lost steam half-way through and nothing else interesting took place or led to anything, for that matter.  He opened the Bible and read passages from The Book of Revelations, which he thought was fitting for recognizing signs of the apocalypse, and reinstated, one more time, that we were not going to die because the meteors had hit Northern California, but we would be finding ourselves in Hell if we didn't start bringing the church closer to our hearts. One hour later, I could get why people dozed off during his sermons. He was so deeply preoccupied with his tone of voice and diction that he didn't once look up in all the time he read from the book. My mind was starting to veer towards Audrey again and what had happened earlier and I looked at her and asked her if she was okay. 

'I'm sorry, I know it's boring for you. You don't have to listen to the priest. I don't. I just like to be here and listen to myself for a while.', she said to me. I winked and assured her it was ok. But wondered why she was so disconnected to everything that was happening in front of her eyes.


In addition to writing books, Sebastian Badarau also acts and directs for stage and film. Most recently he has worked with film director Graham Baker (Alien Nation) adapting the novel A State of Denmark for a 2021 release.
His latest project is radio-drama ¨The Uncertainty Principle¨ which he wrote and directed himself and was broadcast by Radio Iasi, last year. It tells the story of three scientists who are on the verge of a major breakthrough in quantum mechanics but find themselves in conflict over what the discovery actually is.

¨TONGUES OF FIRE¨ is about this extraordinary take on the theme of alien body invasion that I hadn't seen before in books nor movies. It is also the one that resonates with me the most, on a more personal level. Not that I, personally, have been invaded by aliens but I find it empowering and also deeply humane. It is also quite simple and logical if you spend a bit of time meditating on the world, Space and our role in the Universe.

I think there is good literature out there, but you got to know where to find it. We may also have very different definitions of what a good book really is. My definition is somewhere in the essence of writing, which is tone and style, and not necessarily story. It is the art of story-telling more than the art of owning a good narrative. 'Brothers Karamazov' by Dostoyevski is a pretty mundane book, in terms of narrative, but the style is spectacular. Same for Hemingway, Dickens, Camus or Boris Vian. If it were simply for the story, Boris Vian would not pass the test.

I also love science, particularly physics and mathematics. And also love art about science. You may wonder what theatre or performance has in common with science. But I think the answer is quite obvious. Both physics and art are direct pathways to investigating phenomena, whether it's the natural world or human behavior. Science asks the biggest questions: ¨who are we?¨, ¨where do we come from?¨ ¨what's the final goal?¨ Anyone who has worked in arts, know that artists are preoccupied by the exact same questions. I believe anyone who will delve a little bit deeper into both worlds may come to a comforting answer sooner than those who like to keep the two separated at arm's length.¨

Rick Sarpaulis is a young mathematician who returns to the fictional town of Fayhill, after a very long absence, and takes up a job as a substitute teacher at the local school. Both his previous relationship and his job as an assistant researcher at the Department of Non-Euclidean Geometry at Courant have ended in failure. He's dreading the prospect of facing the locals, who've known him since he was a kid and whom he views as racists, non-inclusive and ready only to spread gossip about the return of the prodigal son. He attributes the failure to sustain any relationship and build a career on his chronic depression and inability to function properly in society. In Fayhill, he falls in love with Audrey, a young woman he describes as having a ¨downcast glow to her face, immobile; like that of a wild child being raised by wolves, while her eyes perpetually strip any potential partner for signs of passion and vulnerability. 








Danny came downstairs silent as usual. Every morning since his father left was the same: I would wake up early, make us breakfast and call him exactly once. We would eat together and, despite my efforts to make a conversation, my son would just shake his head yes or no. Then I would kiss his head goodbye and he would leave to take the bus to school.

"I was thinking of getting another hamster" I said, munching on my toast. "To keep Barney company".

Barney was our tuxie hamster. Ever since Danny was little he wanted a hamster, but his father liked cats better, and I wasn't much into pets. We knew we would have to take care of the pet for him. However, after seeing my boy down and awfully quiet for a few weeks, I decided to adopt a hamster to make our home joyous again.

Barney was actually a girl, but the vet just found it out after me and the hamster were used to the name, so I didn't change it.

I easily learned to love my hamster, and Danny seemed at least a little excited about having a pet of his own, but Barney systematically ignored him. I heard of pets ignoring people but this was insane. It was like he wasn't even there.

So I decided to adopt a second kitten mostly to give Danny a pet who gives a fuck.

He agreed with his head and a half-smile that made my day. Then he finished his pancakes, got up and sheepishly leaned in my direction so I would kiss his forehead.

13 is usually a terrible age, but my Danny is such a good boy. If keeping to himself is his way of coping with a broken family, so be it. I had a happy adolescence and by the same age I was already looting my parents and older brother beer; my boy deserved some peace and quiet.

After Danny left to school, I quickly cleaned up and went to my small office. Barney followed me, like she always did when we were home alone.

We live a pretty average life. My house is not small or old, but it's not beautiful either. It's a boring house for a boring untalkative family. I'm doing fine and making decent money as a ghost-writer, but I usually write about the most tedious topics.

I spent all the morning writing without interruptions, made myself a sandwich, made another for Danny and put it in the fridge, then wrote some more. Around 2:30 pm I decided to take a break for grocery shopping.

I'm not a people person but, when you work home alone every day and the only one living with you hasn't spoken a word in eight months, you feel relieved when a familiar face comes your way.

The face belonged to Gloria, the grocery shop manager. She was a motherly older Latina lady, and found me in the snacks corridor.

"Hi, Diana my honeypie", her voice always sounded like singing, and she was always gleeful.

"Hello, Gloria", I smiled back, holding a pack of cookies, "those are Danny's favorite".

"Diana, sweetie", her smile faltered and her chubby face showed genuine concern. "I want you to know that, if you're not holding on, it's ok. You can seek help. Family therapists are great and I happen to know--"

"I appreciate your concern, Gloria. I really do. I will think about it, okay?"

She smiled again and left to talk to another customer.

I knew Gloria meant well, but I couldn't help but feel invaded. I probably mentioned in the grocery store that my husband moved away back when I was a mess about it, although I don't remember.

Going back home, a street I usually take was closed, so I had to turn in the next one possible. I slowed down to turn on my GPS and then I saw it.

It was a huge variety store, announcing big discounts on camping supplies.

I remembered that teenage boys usually love camping, and figured it could be a nice way to reconnect with my son. Hey, mom can be cool and do boys stuff too.

With the help of a very freckled and gentle salesman, I bought all the basics and went home humming happily. I unloaded the car, took the second sandwich from the fridge and went upstairs. By that time, Danny should already be home.

He was in his room, quietly playing videogames. Gloria was right. Maybe we both should go to a therapist. It's not normal to never speak at his age. Maybe I should ask people if he is like that at school. He never had any friends over, so I'll talk to a teacher next week.

Dammit, this is so obvious. It should have occurred to me sooner. But, honestly, I never was the most attentive mother. His father used to take care of this stuff. I miss him sometimes. They were closer than I'll ever be to Danny.

"Hey, baby, I brought you a sandwich", Danny nodded and I kept on talking "You know, I was thinking we could go to a camping trip this weekend. Then the next week we'll adopt our second hamster".

Danny agreed. His face was indecipherable. I wish I could say he was happy, but I didn't know. I never pressured him to talk, but I couldn't help but sigh and say "I wish you would talk to me again someday".

Little did I know that he would, but I wouldn't like it.

I learned from Google what I should do to set up the tent and make a fire, and then discovered there was a small forest nearby where we could go. It had security cabins in three points so, if someone needed help, they wouldn't be on their own.

I didn't buy a lantern because I knew we had at least three at home. It should be in the unused room, with all the stuff my ex-husband owned but didn't take. I opened the door and found something I didn't expect.

It wasn't any unused room. It was a nursery, all decorated for a baby girl. The crib, the toys, everything was new, but covered in a thick layer of dust.

Am I forgetting something important?

As the sun rose in the sky, Selena opened her eyes. Her feeling was not as heavy as yesterday and she refused to think of the reason why she was upset. 
She promised not to be harsh to herself. That she would spend more time enjoying her life peacefully and stress-free from people that hurt her. 
She got up from the hospital bed. The doctor came in for rounds with two nurses behind her. 
"How are you, Ms Su?" The doctor greeted cheerfully. 
Selena smiled at the old woman. After she requested another doctor than Alejandro, the woman took over and attended her injury. 
"I am fine actually. I think I can be discharged today," she said with a lively voice. She needed to at least try to be ok, nothing will change if she remained in the bed crying over the loss of her baby. 
The doctor was seemed stunned by the positive energy surrounding Selena. 
"That's great. Your friend Barney will also be discharged today but he will need to rest in his house for some time." 
Selena was shocked to hear the news. She really thought his spine was badly injured. Alejandro even told her father that it would take weeks before he can fully recover. 
"I thought he was not fit to be discharged yet." 
The doctor laughed and nodded, "yes but the Chu Pharmaceutical company sent pills for Barney. After taking it, we took some test and we found out that his spine was no longer fractured. Maybe we mixed up the lab result and gave the wrong information. Anyway, we are currently investigating it." 
Selena fell into silence. She knew very well what kind of pill did her family give to Barney and it must have contained tissues from the Chen. 
She was just glad that he was alright. 
"So, can I be released too? I have cousins that can look after me at my house." 
"alright. Your father also instructed us that if you wish to leave, we should let you leave. Anyway, Barney will leave the hospital at noon.��� 
Selena decided to visit Barney's room. As she entered, she realized that he was already packed up. A small bag on the bed while Barney was standing and looking down at his phone. 
" Barney." 
She wanted to speak more but Barney looked at her with wide eyes and parted lips looking as if he had just seen a ghost. 
"You wouldn't believe it, Selena," Barney said in an almost whisper while walking towards her like a robot. 
Selena pursed her lips together, "what is it?" 
When Barney finally reached her, he placed both hands on her shoulders, still looking stunned. 
"I got a promotion! They said my heroic acts of saving you and good record earned me that promotion." 
Selena's eyes swelled as well. Happiness rushed over her upon hearing the news. 
"Omg. This is so great! What positions are you going to fill-in?" 
Barney bit his lips and looked down to his phone to read the rest of the message. 
"Wait. Alejandro's father is going to be transferred to the south so I am going to fill in his position," Barney gasped so loudly, "wait. I am going to be the chief of police of this island." 
With shock on his face, Barney walked backwards until he reached the bed. Then he sat down and looked at Selena dumbstruck. 
"This is such a huge promotion, Selena." 
Selena followed him with a smile on her lips. She knew that her family has done something to get Barney that position and she was glad that they did. 
She knew and witnessed how much Barney loved his job. He has a passion for it so she was certain that he will be a good chief of police. She sat next to him and held his hands. 
"Congratulations Barney," she said genuinely. 
Barney pulled her closer to embrace. She could feel his excitement, by the way, he wrapped his arms around her, it was so tight but Selena didn't mind it. 
He was embracing her for a long time. When Selena felt her shoulder wet, she pulled away and stared at his face. 
There were tears in his eyes. Her heart gripped by seeing it. 
"Hey, what's wrong?" she said as she wiped his tears. 
Barney chuckled and seized her hands 
"I am sorry. I just wish my parents and sister are here to hear the news. I just realized that I am alone." 
Selena's eyes gloom. Barney was always so cheerful and it was so strange to see him in this state right now. 
"I am with you Barney. You can share all your achievements with me. You can tell me all your failures. You promised you are going to stay with me so I will do the same." 
Barney sniffed and wiped his tears laughing. 
"I don't usually cry I mean I shouldn't have cried. I am sorry if I wet your shirt." 
Selena giggled as she watched his face flushing with embarrassment. 
"I am pretty sure your shirt experienced worse with all the crying I did." 
Barney lowered his sight to his lap and took out a sigh. It has been a crazy week for him that he didn't even know how to digest the news about his promotion. 
Upon seeing the worry look on his face, Selena pinched both of his cheeks, cheering him up. 
"I know that you are going to do great. And also, you are going to treat me on your first salary of being the Chief." 
She got up to leave. She was so happy for him, at least he can have something to be busy with. 
After closing the door behind her, Selena bit her lips. Her eyes gloom, there was an indescribable void inside of her. 
Standing at the same place, Selena looked up when a person approached her. 
She raised her chin and her smile widened upon seeing her uncle Matthew. 
"Uncle Matt." 
He was the same as before, still looking so young with the sweet smile on his lips. Though his body was fatter than the last time she saw him. 
"What are you doing here?" 
Her uncle wrapped a hand around her shoulder and they both walked towards her room. 
"I just think you should be around with the people that have the same situation as you," Matthew closed the door and locked it while watching Selena as she sat down on the single sofa in the room. 
"Situation?" Selena's eyebrows creased, "you mean can't have a baby? Lost a baby? Lied too? Or have been used for someone's selfish reasons." 
The smile on Matthew's lips disappeared, "the first one. You see Peyton and I travelled around to look for ways we can have babies." 
He dragged a single chair next to the toilet door and sat opposite of Selena. 
"How is that supposed to help me?" she said with one brow arched. 
"After spending most of our money going around travelling. Climbing mountains, sailing the oceans and fighting with thugs in India, we finally found a man that could help us." 
By the serious expression on her uncle's face, Selena concentrated on him. She leaned closer placing both arms on her laps. 
So then, her uncle continued. He got up and paced around. "We found him in the cave somewhere in the mountain Kangchenjunga. Oh! You have no idea what we went through to get past all the danger in that mountain." 
Selena held her breathe. She found herself draw to his story. She wanted to know more; mostly what kind of cure was he talking about. 
"So there we were. I was walking in front of Peyton carrying a big bag pack with our necessities inside and her behind eating sweet potato and sweating. We walked up to that stiff narrow road, the sun was burning our skin, blinding our sight but we proceed because we need it." 
Selena's lips parted by how her uncle said those words with full emotion. It was not a surprise since everyone knew that Matthew liked exaggerating his story. 
But she decided to listen. He was already here so she might as well spend time with him. 
"We were about to give up when the rain poured heavily from the sky," Matthew settled down on the chair and rested his back against it while crossing his legs and arms. 
"We ran and ran until Peyton lost her balance and fell. Before she could fall, I grabbed her wrist and held her tightly." 
Selena's eyes swelled. Her uncle even reenacted the scene and it was like watching a live show. 
"I said. Honey don't let go. I can't leave without you." 
Selena's heart gripped upon seeing the tears forming in her uncle's eyes. She could imagine his situation; it must be exhausting. 
"but she said. Matthew, my dear. You have to continue living, enjoy your life and be happy." 
Matthew lowered his face and shook it slowly. 
"I said no... Don't do this." 
When her uncle's voice broke down. Selena got up to console him. 
"but she said. Let me go – and pulled her wrists from my hand." 
"Oh my God!" Selena gasped loudly. "Is she dead?"

The Su Family is one of the affluent family in the country. 

Evan Su is the current head of Su Corporation and married to a genius and extraordinary woman Daniella Chen.

Their love and trust for each other make everyone in their inner circle to feel jealous. Having tremendous wealth, admiration from their circle and, intelligent children. A lot of people wished to have their life.

But their children's way of living is way too much to handle.

Ethan, Leo, and Alexandria are triplets. Since they were kids, they were taught to love and protect each other. But, the triplets seem to have misunderstood their mother's words since they have done nothing but trouble. And the youngest member of Su, Louisa. A girl who doesn't want to speak and interact with people. She hides her face with her long bangs, plays with human's skeleton and has organs as her toy, Louisa is a weird kid. No one wants to be her friend, and she doesn't mind it. 

On the triplet's 16th birthday, a day which they supposed to celebrate with their family and friends was interrupted when Ethan gave his siblings explosives gift.

Standing by the end of the stairs, Alexa and Leo stared at each other. Their hands slowly moved to open the gift Ethan gave. In the background, they could hear Ethan's voice shouting, 'Not Now idiots!'

A loud explosion, blue smoke, guest screaming and panicking. The triplet's party has turned into a disaster.

Their parents had no other option than to cancel the party. Hours after the explosion, their mother announced that they will be moving.

Living on a budget, having to work in the coffee shop their parents started, transferring to a mid-class school. The triplets realized the weight of their action.

"None of us will have access to your father's money until I say so. No one will ask for your uncle's help. We will live a simple life where you need to clean, and cook for yourself, which means there will be no maids."

Everyone in the basement was shocked except Evan. The triplets looked at each other while Louisa started writing on her tablet.

"Mom, what do you mean by no maid? Who will cook my bacon?" Alexa spoke in horror after hearing the news.

The triplets, Louisa and their parents will move to a province and start a new simple life.

But not only that, their cousin Selena Su, will also be living with them.

As Barney was about to dodge, he got tripped on his own foot allowing Cob to hit him in the stomach. After he fell, the other boys ganged up on him and started kicking him for several minutes until they all left laughing. Soon, Barney started to get up and saw the thin kid put his hand out asking.

"Need any help?"
"No you dried up slice of meat."
"Hey! I'm just trying to help..."
"Where are the supervisors or something?!"

The thin kid was interrupted by Barney from the sudden yell. He then said, "Nova workers won't help us unless it's serious."

"Wow, bunch of jerks.."
"Um, whats your name."
"Willy Wonka, yours?"
"Your real name."
"Purple T-rex."
"...Names Charlie, Charlie Woodlin,"

As Barney and Charlie were having a conversation, Charlie noticed something wrong about Barney. He didn't have a single scratch or any injury from the beating! After pondering over it for a moment, he then just ignored it as there were other people who can handle that beating.

"Who were they?"
"Bunch of guys from Z-1, like me."
"Oh, a student, well I'm a teacher!"
"..."
"I'm a teacher!"
"I know dammit! Why didn't you say that in the beginning so they wouldn't hurt you?!"

After having a long conversation, he realized it was nighttime due to his watch that he bought. He then said goodbye and went to his dorm. Barney also went to his dorm to sleep as he was very tired.

The second day started and it was morning. People started waking up and many went to the cafeteria. There was a long line and people showing off their abilities. People started finishing their breakfast and soon left to go talk to their friends they made yesterday or do something else. Barney who also just finished eating, ran around the ship getting weird looks from other people. He was trying to find the bullies, but was unable to find them so he stopped as it was night.

It was then the third day. It was the same thing except he went to the workout area and lifted 5 pounds for 2 minutes. He also had a conversation with Charlie about where to hide a body which freaked Charlie out. Charlie also found out Barney's real name. Barney then went on a spree looking for Cob and gang but was unable to find them.

As he was looking, the speaker said

[We have reached Nova, please go to the entrance and receive all your luggage]

Barney then went to the gate or entrance and saw a lot of many people near it. He couldn't count all of them as there were too many. As everybody reached the entrance, the strict man from before yelled out to everybody, "Today, Nova will be the place you eat, sleep, and live!"

"From now on, Nova is your home so be happy!"

The crowd were excited as the ship landed and the entrance soon opened. Everybody suddenly heard the speaker saying

[Please go to your dorms to rest and at 4:00, please attend to your class that you have received  3 days ago]

Right now, it was 3:38, giving everybody a lot of time to put their stuff in order. Barney didn't have any luggage so he went to his dorm to check it out. He soon followed the crowd who was following another man. Nova was huge holding more shops than a city. It had everything like the strict man said. It looked more like a city but 20x bigger. After following the man, they reached the dorms. One for boys which was on the right side and one for girls on the left side. The employees instead, had apartments everywhere so they know where to be if there was any trouble. The superheroes lived here too, but they had houses instead that could go up to 50 stories high. There also many buildings for classes.

The crowd soon parted ways into the dorms and apartments. Barney went into his apartment which looked nice but couldn't even compare to other dorms. This apartment was like the worst apartments out there. The place Barney lived was clean and nice. He was happy about this place and as he was going to lay down, it was 3:53. That was about seven minutes to get to class, but he didn't have any nice clothes as he was only wearing a plain clothes. He left his apartment and went to his class.

He reached his class, Z-1,  after asking some people out who were giggling and laughing. He went inside and saw 13 students sitting down talking to each other. He then greeted them.

"Hello, my name is Barney Sevs but you may call me Mr. Sevs!"
"It's you!"

It was sudden that all the people looked at the person who yelled it. It was Cob with his friends sitting down. They did not know that the person they beat up was actually their teacher for their class so they were surprised.

"I know we had a dark history many years ago, but rest assured, I won't kill you...yet."
"What the..."
"Well, I can see all the students are here..."

He was interrupted by another person that he knew. It was Charlie!

"There are at least 200 students in here and thats the smallest number of students!"
"Well, they must have a dark history too."
"We don't have a dark history!"

It was Cob yelling out and his gang too nodding in agreement. Charlie and Cob and gang were all arguing with Barney about the stuff he said earlier that the other students joined in too! Finally, it started to get quiet and Barney started saying talking.

"Well, everything is behind the present which is now the past. I want everybody to introduce themselves and their ability."

Soon, a kid who was short for his age and looked skinny came up.

"My name is Billy Ritchhold, I'm 13 years old and my ability is being able to sleep automatically," said by the anxious kid.

"Next!"
"Wait, I haven't..."
"Next, you trash ability!"

After Billy sat down sadly, another kid who had the style of a rebel came up.

"Name is Alexander Somd and my age is 17. My ability is 10th grade telekinesis."
"Ooooh, telekinesis, show us what you can do!"
"I just said I had 10th grade telekinesis.."
"So?"
"Thats the worst grade there is!"
"Oh, sit down you hitting-puberty man!"

10th grade was part of a grade of 1st grade as the strongest and 10th grade was the weakest. It took a long time to reach another grade. Alexander then sat down of how depressing it was to be so weak. After him were the rest of the remaining 13 students. It was Cob's gang who went up. There were a triplet who looked really identical. There names were Abe, Bee, and Ceed Grolisink and they were all 13. There abilities were to communicate with each other. The next was a tall guy name Cole Jesd who's ability was being tall. He was 6ft and his age is 15. It was then Cob which his ability was critical hit which allowed him to get a critical hit on anybody. Unfortunately, he wasn't smart and he had to hit somebody 100 times to get a critical hit in the same spot!

As Barney was about to call somebody he realized it was time for class to finish. He then walked out of the classroom without saying another word. As he left, Alexander suddenly realized.

"Did he just forget about us?"

In a world, nearly the whole population has abilities that are used for daily lives or fighting. Abilities helped people’s dream and one of those dreams are being superheroes. At least half of the population dreams to become superheroes. This opened up a school known as Nova thats teaches middle school to college. Nova is a school that nutures students into becoming superheroes and it also has class ranks for competition that goes to Z-1 to A-5.

As school starts, a new teacher joins and has to teach a class that hasn’t been doing well which made the former teacher leave. That class is Z-1, a class full of failures who either don’t have the potential, too lazy, or something that they have done bad. This also force the teacher in charge to make them into well known superheroes, but as they are trying to be successful in order for them to not flunk, many problems occur.

A few days later... Our friends went back to school (unfortunately...)
Vanessa: *sigh* I must be the only one, but I'm soooooo happy to be back to school after weeks!!
Michael: It was like, 2 weeks, Vanny.
Vanessa: Yeah, but I didn't come to school to have the boring classes and tests, and stuff... I came to be with my friends, and you of course.
Michael: (smiles & blushes)
???: What's up, Mike!!
Michael: 'Sup, Andy!! How's it going?
Andy: Doing well. And you?
Michael: Oh, you know... Like always.
Andy: Hehehe! Hey, Nessa.
Vanessa: Hey, Andy.
Eleanor: Vanny!!
Vanessa: El!! (hugs Eleanor)
Eleanor: It's been so long!!
Michael: IT WAS 2 WEEKS ONLY!!!
(silence)
Michael: *sigh* Sorry...
Vanessa: It's ok, Mikey, it happens.
Michael: Hehe, glad you understand...
Vanessa: (smiles)
???: Hey, Vanny.
Vanessa: Joanne!
Michael: Joanne...
Joanne: Oh, look who he is... It's been a while, Michael.
Michael: Why don't you just disappear from my face, Joanne?
Joanne: But I just arrived, Michael, and you what me to leave so soon? *pops fingers*
Vanessa: Joanne, what did we talked about?
Joanne: Oh c'mon, Vanny. I mean... W-W-What do you see in this guy? He's short, he's an asshole-
Michael/Vanessa: Hey!!!
Vanessa: Don't say that about Michael, say that about Roderick!!
Eleanor: Woah there!!

Joanne: Huh, doesn't make that much a difference, but anyway...
(bell rings)
Joanne: Well, we should probably get in into the classroom.
Vanessa: Yeah, let's go.

Barney: They were kinda boring.
Vanessa: Understandable.
???: Hey, Vanessa dear.

Carneiro: What? You're not happy to see me?
Vanessa: Not even a little...
Carneiro: Oh, you're going to make me sad, you know?
Vanessa: Who cares?
Carneiro: "Who cares"? How rude to treat a friend like that.
Vanessa: You're not even on my friends list, Carneiro. Sorry to dissapoint you that way.

Vanessa: Nope... Sorry, Fonseca.
Fonseca: Yeah, ok, whatever. Nobody really cares your opinion, so... Why should I care too?
Carneiro: Oh, good one, Fonseca.

Carneiro/Fonseca: (toxic girl laugh)
Vanessa: (whisppering) Ugh, I hate them SOOOO much...
Barney: (whisppering) Come on, Vanny, I know you can handle a few more months until the end of the year.
Vanessa: (keeps whisppering) On the one hand, yes, but on the other, no. I can no longer bear to keep talking about me and Michael.
Barney: (keeps whispperig) So, is true that you and Mike-
Vanessa: (keeps whisppering) NO! We're not dating!! But... We like each other, we just... Didn't confess for each other yet. We're just giving clues for each other. You know?
Barney: (keeps whisppering) Oh, yeah, I understand. It's just... you two are a little bit too noticeable.
Vanessa: (keeps whisppering) *sigh* I know, but it's hard to not be. Or isn't?
Barney: (smiles) (keeps whisppering) Look, the important thing is... just be yourself. Don't listen to Carneiro 'bout Mike, 'kay? If you know that he loves you back, why listen to her?
Vanessa: Wow, you're actually right. Thanks, Barney!!
Barney: (smiles) Glad I helped. But know you should pick up your things, (points) teacher has arrived.
Vanessa: Oh, right, I forgot about that.
