This book is made to help people find a certain novel. If anyone has a book that they need to find, comment a summary and I'll post it.

I can’t start novels for my life so I am posting ideas for other people to make stories. You don’t have to quote me just let me know what novel it is so I can read it for fun because I’m bored.

A Fantasy story of Dake Barns who transmigrate to higher realm where he will conquer beauties across the  nine realms

His name is Adam Barns, He was a Reincarnated that had the Luxury Escort System & Companion Generation System and Gained The Virtuous System.

But he suddenly was Transmigrated to the Marmur World and assimilated the mercenary Grentyr Moolner.

Urik woke the up with a roaring headache, the strange fluffy birds that seem to drop fruit provisions for his group were always chirping and singing to one another. His brow was sweating from the humid air that he would wake up to for the last several days. It had almost been a month and a half in the Rift when he guessed only a week passed on Earth. They had been fighting off strange dinosaur looking creatures, hunting very large elk, and staying hidden and protected from the loud roars coming from the south of their camp. No soldier or scout wanted to go out to investigate the sounds alone for its echo was possibly causing a sense of primal fear in them.
Urik rubbed his head and took a two pills, something to help with his headache. Though he was running out, he didn't expect it to take so long to find the Chaos Beast responsible for the Rift to appear. All he knew was that it was strong enough to make such a large expanse without turning it into a Chaos Tear. Having sent out scouts in the areas nearby led to them able to collect Beast Crystals that were much better quality than some he has seen. The Beta and Alpha tier crystals had more energy coming off of them than normal, like the place was enhancing the creatures.
Putting on his armor then grabbing his shield and warhammer Urik stepped out of his tent to be greeted with a morning commotion.
With a sigh, Urik went to ask, "What is going on, speak up or I'll make you all do training reps for the next two hours." The group of men and women turned and saluted to Urik.
"Sir," a woman responded, "we have yet to hear back from the last scout deployed, Sir!" Urik let them rest at ease, they all went into a resting position behind their backs. Urik looked around the base and then back to the group.
"Who did we lose?" Urik placed his hand on his forehead.
"Lieutenant Barns, Sir!" The man next to the woman responded sharply. Urik squinted as he eyed the soldier.
"How do you know he is lost and not just scouting?" The group stepped aside and found his gear all broken and torn apart. As Urik saw the devastation on the gear, he walked over and picked up a few pieces.
"We believe he was attacked by some vicious creature sir, it isn't like Lieutenant Barns to be caught by surprise." Urik thoroughly checked every piece he picked up. Luckily, he didn't discover any blood. With a sigh of relieve but quickly turned to worry. 
Urik looked at the man, "Where did you find these?"
"Two clicks South West sir. We also found a battle site that had taken place, but as you probably saw yourself, no blood." The soldiers all stood at attention waiting for his order.
Which Urik gave, "Alright, assemble 4 others that will accompany us and leave the other 14 to guard the base. Stay in radio frequency at all times, go dark if necessary. Be back here in 10 minutes!" They all nodded and were dismissed, leaving Urik to examine the scraps for himself.
'What kind of creature could do something like this and not leave a speck of blood on the gear?' He thought to himself. Urik wasn't one to shy from a fight, but he didn't know what his adversary was, or how it worked. He spent a lot of time as a strategic specialist in the United Armed Forces before having gotten his powers as a Tank. He built battle plans, estimated the power and number of enemy soldiers and armor the enemy side had. But this, ever since the Rifts opened more frequently, he has yet to get a grasp of what enemy he would face. He didn't have back up plans, no strategy, or even a guess on what could have done something like this.
Setting the scraps back down he sighed and cracked his neck letting out a sigh of relief. He needed it for the moment, it was a thing he would do in order to straighten himself out when he was nervous or scrambled. Allowed him to focus on what he can see, which he did take another look at the clothing and gear.
'Looks like the force to break an Delta tier weapon like this was definitely strong. The clothing is torn and shredded as if cut by a blade of some sort.' He ran his hand across the edges, 'Though the cuts were messed with somewhat as to possibly throw off anyone guess as to if it was a weapon or a natural attack.' He brought it to his face and took a whiff of the cloth. When he did, his eyes opened and he pulled it away.
'There is no smell?' He sniffed again and still nothing. He knew Lieutenant Barns wore a type of cologne that smelt like a skunks butt and tangerines, but he would always say his wife loved it. It's like it was washed away by a stream. He would smell again and find that it was maybe somewhere wet and with a lot of water. Though he had to count for the rain that falls every so often in the day.
Urik set the items down and nodded, "Someone had tampered with these and made it look like a creature or he barely escaped. He is a wily one, but not that wily to escape with no injury." Urik turned to find that the two had returned with the group of other soldiers. A healer, two Evokers, one summoner, and 3 warriors. This would make him the tank of the group making a total of seven units.
He nodded, "Good, made it here quickly and without much alarm either, impressive." Urik smiled then reported to his soldiers that he had discovered that Barns was likely attacked then found out that his gear had been cleaned. No blood smell or even his perfume. Which many shivered by the thought of his smell choice of cologne. He also told them that it is likely a creature or even a humanoid creature with enough intelligence for something like this.
"We must be aware at all times, no mistakes, no one gets left behind." Urik hefted his hammer into the air. "We travel South West!" The others hollered and followed Urik to the gate. He pounded his shield as the Evoker in charge of the door lowered it back into the earth. The group of 7 headed out and the door closed behind them. Urik had the man known as Jack lead him to where they found Lieutenant Barns' gear.
Jack was a scout like Barns, but Jack had the ability of communing with animals and nature itself. For he was the one to discover some unique things about the world as he found out from the birds that they could eat anything but preferred fruit. If angered or threatened, they gather in a large swarm and pick the meat off the attacker's bones. Jack was useful for his ability when animals were around.
Being that his ability allowed him to commune with nature, meant he could use it to track people, creatures, even manipulate plants to his will. He couldn't summon them, they had to exist beforehand. Right now, Jack was taking the lead as he was following the tracks left behind as they had finally came upon the clearing of fallen trees, slashed ground, and tossed stones. Whatever attacked Barns wasn't there to play with him. It was intent to kill him. But the question remained, what did it?
Urik ordered a clean sweep of the area, soldiers from his group scattered from Urik as they all started searching the area for clues. For roughly 10 minutes, nothing was found other than churned dirt, presumably claw marks, and spatters of some odd liquid. When someone poked the liquid with a stick it began to dissolve and melt away. Urik didn't like the idea of Barns being melted away. But that wouldn't have explained why his gear was broken and cut up.
Urik decided to step forward and place his hand on the ground whispering words to himself, "Hand of the Almighty, guide my path to the one who is lost, I ask for clairvoyance." With finishing his sentence, Urik felt his body become lighter briefly as he saw a path of blue light leading him into the forest further south. Urik stood and closed his fist, "Form up!" His soldiers regrouped with him as he lead them away from the scene.
Getting to see the blue energy meant that Barns was alive. Though if it showed up but not gone anywhere, it would have told him Barns was dead. With the hope that Barns was alive, meant he was more determined to find him. Though he was going to get an earful from Urik as it was his job to report back often. As well as for getting caught.
Urik marched his forces south, heading for a dense part of the forest as the ground became soft and muddy. He was close to Barns' location as the blue energy had gotten brighter. Though the problem was that it had led up into a tree, very high up and unable to be clearly seen. Urik placed his hand on the tree and then felt something nearby.
Activating his detection ability, he counted 6 Chaos Beasts were closing in on their location. He called out to his men to make a protective formation of the healer and the casters. While he and the Warriors would protect them while having their back to the tree. The beasts leapt from the water as 6 legged reptilian creatures sprang at them. The warriors held spears and swords, though using each one with a shield. The two spearmen had raised up their weapons to catch the beast landing on them. While the one swordsmen prepared a counter attack.
Urik slammed his shield into the ground and submerging some of it into the water. His hammer raised high as it glowed with yellow and sparked flames to life. His activated his taunting ability which compelled the beasts to attack him. Each of the reptilian creatures looked at Urik as they shot out their tongues and ran at him.
One of the Evokers had cast an ice wall which caused the beast's tongue to get trapped in the ice. While the other sent up earthen spikes to pierce another one. Two had reached Urik, but the spearmen managed to stab one while Urik himself brought his hammer down on the creature's head. The impact sent a sound wave rippling the water around them. As it suddenly caught fire even while standing in the water the beast couldn't put it out.
Each of the creatures weren't easy to put down as each one took multiple hits from his warriors and Evokers. The reptile's hide was incredibly strong and their 6 legs helped in mobility. With sticky tongues and sharp claws, these beasts weren't easy to fell. Urik even felt that his hammer was hitting stone as if it was a normal sledgehammer. But luckily if one was frozen in ice it made attacking its body much easier. So having Hilda, the ice Evoker, with them really was a stroke of luck.
Having fought off the beasts for only a few moments, it looked like Urik and his men had the situation under control. But something bothered Urik as his detection aura had managed to locate another 30 creatures. All converging on their location. Preparing for the worst, for each of the reptiles were close to Alpha tier by themselves. Which didn't make their chances of survival very good as 3 warriors, 2 Evokers, a healer, and himself. He could take a lot of hits before he needed to heal, but 30 more of them was going to be the death of the group. 
He watched as they climbed down from the trees, from under the water, and all he could think was how they could get out of it. As he braced himself for the assault, suddenly several spears of ice rained down on the creatures. Skewering one after another as they approached the group. Some stuck to trees, other impaled into the water, while one had its head pierced in front of Urik.
From up above, Urik looked to see a black figure falling from the tree. When it had landed, it did so on the large ice shard in front of Urik. The figure had a black cowl on obscuring his face, a long black coat, and a book floating next to him. The book's cover had a glowing blue gem that blinked at Urik. In front of him, was the Renegade.

The world of Earth and the world of Chaos has collided. Tearing rifts that connects both worlds. People of the known world gained powers upon defeating a Chaos Beast. Or having gone into a rift for the first time. However, Cyrus Reinhard had only the powers of a Standard, someone with only the power to double their body's natural strengths. However, after going on his first mission with the Fenrir Operations Group, he encountered an Aberrant Beast.

This Chaos Beast is more unique and rare to come across than any of the other lower classed beasts known to the human race. After just barely managing to defeat it, he had unlocked a power all his own, the powers of the great devourer and destroyer of worlds, Fenrir, the god of Ragnarok. He had acquired the "Chaos System."

I wake up by my alarm going off loudly in my room. I had a headache that hurted so badly like I had drink last night. Wait last night that room what was that, and who was that. I don't really remember anything except that rule. I just need to sleep it off and I'll be fine. Wait my court case I can't be late. I got up and took and shower and put on my clothes. I made some coffee grab by car keys and jotted to the court place. I parked my car and when I went into the building I was met with Mr. Barns. " Good your not late your client is here and it's your time to go" Mr. Barns said. Okay this is my shot to prove that I can do this. I walk into the court and what I see is someone I didn't want to see here. Crystal, why does she have a case for unpaid parking tickets. Great just great.

Well last night was amazing I just got laid but now I have to go to court for unpaid parking tickets. Like I can't believe that's a law, I wonder who's my lawyer. I get up and go to the court place where I see Moonlight. I didn't know she was representing me and I didn't know she was a lawyer nice Dumbo.
Moonlight P.O.V
I won that case because it seems like she paid the tickets. That was weird, she comes up to me to hug me. I hug her to, she say's to me "wanna go get coffee right now". "Sorry I can't got to go to the office and talk to my boss" I say. She walks away without saying anything which was weird I hope she's not mad. I walk out the room I don't see Mr. Barns where is he? Maybe he went back to the office. I should go.

Listen I know Moonlight might be mad at me for walking away but I had no choice you know. Listen I wanted to have a a cup of coffee with her so I can warn her. She's not safe and plus the reason I walked away is because someone was watching me. I didn't know who but I can't cause any harm to her. I get my mission is to find out who that person is. What I love mission they make me feel important.

I go back to the building and find Mr. Barns and Mr. Crinkle yelling at each other. I couldn't hear that much but all I heard was. Mr. Crinkle yelling "I LET HER WORK HEAR BECAUSE SHE'S GOOD LUCK WHY DO YOU THINK WE HAVE BEEN WINNING ALL OF OUR CASES". Mr. Barns said quietly "first of all lower your tone and second of all, the reason why I let Moonlight in hear is because she was in the top of her class not because of what the higher said". The higher, what's the higher? Who is the higher?. I need answer's, and as soon as I said that here comes some dude say " well I can help you who you the higher is". I look up and I see the guy that I saw at the club. Does he work here or is he following me?

Your a new lawyer fresh out of law school. You work at a firm where they work you to death. You need a break from all, when you hear about a club. As soon as you walk in your life changes.

Atrocities at Oradour-Sur-Glane
On June 10 a group of about 180 strong soldiers mostly from the 3rd Company of the 1st Battalion of the 4th Regiment of the 2nd SS Panzer Division began to enter and search the isolated farms and house south of small village of Oradour-sur-Glane. They dragged all the inhabitants that they found as they walked through their way to the north. They searched the farms, buildings and barns, probing straw with their bayonets to make sure that everyone was accounted for and no one was to be left behind.  But to the dismay of the travelling settlers, the soldiers set the buildings on fire as they left. 
 
The Mayor of the Oradour was summoned by Adolf Diekman, the commander of the detachment when he stopped at Champ de Foire ( Fairground or Agora). Speaking through an interpreter, he told to the Mayor that there was to be an identity check and all inhabitants were to assemble on the fairground. Immediately, the Mayor asked the Village Crier to announce the order. The inhabitants for the most part must cooperate quietly with the SS, a few were to flee, others to hide, but no one was to attack the SS soldiers no offer any armed resistance.  
 
The village crier now doubled set off round the streets beating his drum and accompanied by an SS soldier calling the inhabitants to come out and assemble to the fairground with their identity papers to check.  Everyone had to comply with the summon from the youngest baby to the oldest citizen and no one was to be excused not even the sick. A teacher for the girls' school who had a high temperature was not spared and given time to fix herself for an appropriate clothing but made her way to the assembly on a dressing gown over her night-clothes. 
 
To suppress any thoughts of a mass attack upon themselves the SS set up machine guns on tripod mounts in the fairground.  They wanted to carry out the normal process of handling  people of large numbers in an open area. The inhabitants were scared and panicky when the heard shots from time to time coming from different parts of the village. It was the gunfire heard for  those people being shot and killed for trying to escape and hide their true identity. In spite the ploy of identity check it was said that no one was ever actually asked to produce his or her identity papers.  Later, it was claimed that the SS main objective in going to Oradour was to search for weapons which if found to have concealed any weapons would imply the presence of the Resistance and precisely the next step would be to investigate and examine every one's identity papers.
 
According to a claimed story, the action of SS soldiers was a reprisal for resistance attacks in which around 200 SS soldiers stormed the village square allegedly in search for hidden explosives and ammunitions. All 652 settlers of the village were searched of their identity herding off men into barns, and the women and children into the church. The soldiers shut the door of the church and began igniting the dynamite and incendiary devices including the entire village.
Apparently set on fire and burned to death and those who survived were  killed by machine gun fire and grenades, except for 10 people who were able to escape the fire when they feigned without being noticed by the SS who later left the scene.  The death toll was 245  women, 207 children in the church and 190 men in the barns making a total of 642.  After the war, the trial of murderers were hampered by the difficulty of locating and identifying the alleged SS soldiers as some of them were already killed in subsequent actions In 1953, only 21 of the 200 SS involved in the brutal murder were convicted in which 5 were imprisoned and 2 were executed.

The search continued and intensified for any fugitives with all their earthly belongings being sacked and entered for any who had avoided the call to the Fairground. The bulk of killings was over but it was gruesome to reveal that the aid workers who entered the village over the next few days claimed that they had found cadavers in many locations.  An instance was the charred body of an elderly bedridden man who seemed to have been burned to death as it was not possible to identify the remains in the gutted house.
Likewise, a group of cyclists on that day out from Limoges were apprehended when they arrived at the village after the victims were sent to church and barns. They were all shot in front of Beaulieu forge before the church and barns were burned. Hence, a group of dead bodies were discovered down the well on the road to St. Junien. People who heard the shots outside the village came to look at what was happening, and began searching their children.  If they came too closely and seen by troops, they too would be shot.
 
Roaming SS all over the village were split into small groups to hunt down the remaining inhabitants. All ingresses and egresses of the village were sealed and guarded; nevertheless a few people did manage to sneak in for a quick look.  Mostly were parents who were anxious or worried for their children's safety.  One Madame Demery was able to sneak in and reached the Boys School and was able to escape again without being detected by SS. Increasingly desperate people had begun to gather on the outskirts of the village, mostly parents whose children had not returned from school.  Others were village residents who wished to return home and as a result of hopeful thinking and rumor, the grown story overnight appeared that the children were safe in the woods.  Many French people made their way into the village and finally found the true extent of the tragedy. Apparently shocked they realized the full scale of the killings and the remains of the church. This is according to a certain Hubert Desourteaux, who made his way to safety and witnessed the destruction himself.
 
The commanding officer in charge of the Oradour massacre, Adolf Diekman was killed by a shell splinter on June 29,1944 and left his command post shelter to the north of Noyers.  Thus, the death of the commander who had been the soul of the resistance ended in a crisis.  With his death the entire affair of Oradour could be abandoned from the attention of the German Army. If he were alive on that day, Rommel could have had him court martialled or compelled to commit the dignity of suicide as what Rommel did in his involvement in the assassination attempt of Hitler.
By any standards, the massacre at Oradour was apparently a war crime and over the following years many attempts have been made to bring justice to all the victims of this brutal massacre. By any standards, what took place in Oradour-sur-Glane on Saturday 10th June 1944 was a war crime and over the following years many attempts have been made to bring justice to all the victims of this gruesome crime. No one was ever tried nor punished within the German Wehrmacht for the massacre of the citizens of Oradour.

The Sons Of Skanderbeg is an epic-drama, espionage, suspense, and historically accounted for  where significant events, places and names in world history are involved. The story narrates and describes the stunning and horrendous war crimes committed during World War II. Although fiction, the story may be one aspect of war survival that involves the scenes of espionage and daring escapes portrayed by the main character of the story.  It tells about an organized  resistance movement  of German officers with Jewish roots from Albania  who are deployed to different Nazi-occupied  European countries  to assassinate key Nazi officers including Hitler  and  neutralize German military offensive in strategic areas of occupied  territories. The leading surviving characters  Jora, her husband and Qamil, an army make their daring escape from Czechoslovakia to Italy by train to reach Albania.   In the end, Jora’s husband in his struggle against the German Gestapo in the train is killed. Jora is left pregnant and is cradled by Qamil to the end. Exploring and struggling each intrepid circumstance around the enemy lines, the option is to escape or die upon fulfilling their mission after which they have to get to Albania to live a lesser Jewish persecution  and fight with the mother movement based on the land for an absolute freedom.

Faced with tears mixed with Meg's anger, who doesn't seem to want to calm down, Adam feels terribly helpless and now regrets his past behaviour.  Locked in their hotel room, Meg, who refuses any contact with him, has been yelling at him for almost 20 minutes and Adam is silent and accepts silently her accusations, knowing full well that 90% of them are legitimate.

"Aren't you ashamed of yourself? Raise your head and look me in the eye, Adam. A huge opportunity has been offered to you, I'm fighting to get you as many interviews and TV appearances as possible and what do you find to do? You're having such a good time. You humiliate people who are fighting for their dreams in front of hundreds of thousands of spectators. You make us look like fools and at the same time, you will further reinforce the opinion that many people have of Americans. Namely that they are pretentious and self-centered. Do you want to break up your budding career so badly? Don't touch me, don't touch me. I'm far too angry with you to support your hands on my body without slapping you. What will the agency think of your miserable performance? What will your mother say when she hears all the media in the country laughing at her son, who didn't think for a moment that by showing up on French television like that, the whole world would know his escapades five minutes later? You never think about your actions, Adam, or how they might affect your loved ones and those who love you. Shit, you have to grow up and fast, for you, for them, or this environment will crush you in less than a month. You have to think about what you do, the image you convey, the behaviour to adopt depending on where you find it. For all this, I can help you but you have to trust me and listen to me and not act like an idiot who has just found a new toy and is having fun with it. This afternoon, in addition to embarrassing yourself, you burned yourself on all the serious TV channels. Oh, some of them will absolutely want to have you. Some TV programs are always looking for jesters, public entertainers whose audiences like to laugh. You know, sometimes I get tired of you, Adam. When you behave like a child, as you did today, it hurts me and I question myself everything. Come and see, let's light the laptop and measure your popularity today due to your thoughtless behavior."

Meg is surprised, she has to type several different keywords to find only a few articles about Adam in this TV show and the pages she finds, leaves her speechless. She keeps searching, opens page after page but the redirections drive her crazy.

Meg clicks, clicks and clicks frantically to break the keyboard of her professional laptop, but after a while, she has to face the facts: Someone manipulates the information, deletes every article about Adam that bothers him and even censors the general content of some sites. Who has the power and technological means, the team capable of achieving such a result in such a short time and the support to achieve it. When she asks herself this question, an error message comes to mind. The Benson family, this gang of thugs, who feed politicians with hundreds of millions of dollars and together claim to hold the world in their hands. 

"Adam, do you still have Jessica Benson's phone number?"

Adam who didn't follow Meg is sitting on the bed, meditating on all his mistakes, his stupid actions that as Meg says don't just hurt his little person. Having not seen the error messages and redirections, he is very surprised by this question Meg asks him. Stunned but knowing that he is already at fault, he opens his smartphone and scrolled through his list of contacts. Luckily, too lazy to update it, Jessica's issue still appears in the friends category. When he hands Meg his smatphone, with a raging expression on her face, she literally rips it out of his hands, before moving very quickly to the bathroom. Remembering a detail that is important, Adam intervenes.

"Meg, this issue is over two years old. So I doubt it's still valid."

After a look that means "shut up," Adam makes himself very small and doesn't say another word when Meg slams the bathroom door. Sitting on the big bathtub in which last night together, they had sex, Meg who feels guilty for her attitude, sighs. This is not a good time to do this and she does her best to chase away her thoughts of guilt when she presses the call. One ring, two rings, three rings and Meg is already sweating. Four rings, Meg who knows Jessica Benson's reputation swallows her saliva. Five rings: "This is Jessica Benson, who am I speaking to?"

Meg straightens up and although this pretentious little lady is not in front of her, this simple sentence makes her understand who she is dealing with. Meg, who knows she's superior on one thing, comes out her chest triumphantly, inspires and now feels ready to fight this 17-year-old monster. "Hello Miss Benson, I introduce myself; Meg Barns I am..."

On the other side of the Atlantic, Jessica, whom Mary does her hair, smiles brightly when she hears the name of her interlocutor. Nevertheless, how did this woman with the big chest get her personal number? Not many people have access to this privilege. Jessica, who still doesn't look at the name of the caller who appears on her smartphone, only sees a plausible answer: Adam. Not wanting to let the woman with the big chest continue her presentation, because having already investigated this person in depth, Jessica interrupts her."  

"No need to say more, Miss Barns, because I'm not interested in hearing your presentation. Meg Barns, born in New York to a low-income family. Electrician father arrested twice in a state of intoxication for fighting in bars, suicidal nanny mother, dreamed of becoming a model but her dwarf size prevented her from doing so. This inaccessible dream, she tried to become a fashion designer, but again, she failed. Schooling without stories, average student, too poor to choose a school in the United States, she left for a third-rate sub-school in France and graduated after catching up. First job, failure, the rest is no more glorious, then she met my boyfriend and finally her career took off. Miss Barns, you are the very example of the failure that clings like a tic-tac-toe and fails all the time. Like the tic-tac-toe, you are a pathetic being who is too mediocre to succeed on your own and must therefore live on the backs of others to feed yourself. Thank you Mary. Well Miss Barns, if you wanted to ask me something, do it quickly because unlike you, I only rely on myself to earn a living and just now, I'm going soon to Los Angeles to participate in a movie shoot."

This disgusted and disinterested tone, these cruel and contemptuous words, this comparison, which put her down to earth, just broke Meg's heart and courage she thought she had before making that phone call to the little American star. The smartphone falls from her trembling hand, she bursts into tears when on the other side, Jessica who hears enough, laughs and hangs up before leaving her room with Mary, who shakes her head with a smile.


"The smell!" I exclaim, covering my nose and mouth.
Diogo chuckles and places his broad hand on my back, guiding me out of the barn and back into the fresh air. I'd known livestock would have a smell, but I wasn't expecting it to be so horrendous. I suck in mouthfuls of fresh air and wave a hand in front of my face.
"This is why we keep the stables to this side of the city where there are fewer residents. But honestly baby, it's really not that bad. They're much worse in the summer."
"How long have you had these barns?" I wave toward the four rows of buildings housing Sanctuary's livestock.
"I organized the farm and food supplies when I became Warlord. We've been expanding slowly over the past two decades."
I frown toward the barns my mind racing at the possibilities. "If you've been doing this for so long, I don't understand why you haven't expanded faster. Created a more plentiful food source for all the sectors."
"It doesn't work that way." Diogo takes my hand and leads me toward another barn. I cringe in his grip, not wanting to be treated to more of the awful manure smell. "Livestock can't be our main food source. We can't keep up with supply and demand on the scale it would require to feed this entire city. These barns can only take up a small portion of Sanctuary or they become a health hazard. The animals themselves have to eat too and grass and feed are scarce in this part of the world."
"Can you feed them something else?" I reluctantly follow him into the next barn. This one stinks but not nearly as bad as the cow barn. But the noise in this barn is something I wasn't expecting. I stare open-mouthed at the sea of chickens clucking their way around, pecking at bits of seed on the floor.
Diogo leads me down the rows, past the chickens who are studiously ignoring our arrival. Row after row of hen houses line the side walls where the chickens can lay their eggs. Two people are going down the rows, pulling eggs from the houses and putting them into baskets. The chickens go about their business, completely ignoring the humans. I'd had no idea chickens would allow us to get so close. 
"We tried feeding the cows ground up corn to supplement their grass diet but many of them got sick. We don't have enough antibiotics in this city to cover the civilian population. I can't spare any for the animals. As a result, we've had to keep about half the population and half of those again are strictly used for milk, which is a far more renewable resource."
I'd never really thought of the mass production of meat before. This experience has been eye-opening, as I'm sure Diogo is aware. He's showing me these barns for a reason. In fact, I'm beginning to think our entire meal was planned for a reason, to get me thinking about food resources for our city. Especially since food shortages is the biggest issue facing the slums. 
"Why are we here?" I ask him.
"To see this." He guides me through the next door and a blast of heat hits me. 
Tiny little cheeps sound all around us, though they're mostly drowned out by the overwhelming clucks from next door. I drop to my knees next to a big wooden box with a heat lamp placed over top. Tiny fluffy little chicks lurch around the box and huddle together in groups. 
"Can I touch them?" I ask eagerly, reaching into the box without waiting for an answer. I stroke my finger down the silky fluff and sigh happily. "They're so beautiful."
He chuckles and drops to his knees beside me. His big hand brushes mine as he reaches into the box and scoops up a chick. "Here," he says, dropping it into my outstretched hands. I laugh as it pecks at my fingers and tries to leap out of my hand. I bring it up to my face and rub it against my cheek.
"He's so soft," I whisper.
Diogo watches indulgently as I spend the next twenty minutes petting baby chickens and going around to each box, scooping them up and cuddling them. Finally, he announces his need to get back to work. I sigh my disappointment and gently drop my baby chick back in its box. As I stand Diogo brushes bits of straw from my clothes and hair. 
"You enjoyed yourself?"
"I did." I smile, feeling utterly content as we walk away from the barns. "I don't think I'm going to be able to eat chicken again though."
"You'll get over it. You need a variety of food to keep healthy, and meat is your main source of protein here. There's a period of adjustment once you get a closer acquaintance with your food. But I think it's important to know where our meals are coming from."
He has a point. Beyond accepting my food rations, I hadn't thought of where the food was coming from or why we couldn't produce more. This experience has been eye-opening. "I'd like to see the greenhouses too."
His eyes sparkle with pleasure when he glances down at me. He holds the door to his car open for me. As I slide in, he says, "I'll have Grayson take you tomorrow."
"Thank you," I tell him, meaning it.
He climbs into the other side of the car and turns the engine over, revving it, before leaving the farm community. I glance around as we drive taking in the tidy little community surrounding the farm. There are several houses within walking distance, each one with a private garden. They don't look like the same type of housing in the rest of the city, they look newer, as though they were created specifically for the farm.
"Who lives there?"
"The farm workers and their families. This is an industrial sector, there were no living spaces when we installed the farm. It's much easier for them to live in close proximity than to try to commute in every day from residential sectors." 
I think about this concept as we drive. Though the work looks hard, the idea of this type of living is very appealing. They get up in the morning and go to work creating food for themselves and the rest of us. The ability to produce must be very satisfying. 
"Why isn't this part of the city, the animals and food production widely known?" I look around as we pass through the sector gates. Security is definitely heavier here than at most of the other gates.
"I can't take the risk that our food production resources become a target. It took years to set this up and it's delicate at best, too easy to destroy through carelessness. Disease could wipe out the animals. If anything were to happen to the pipes bringing in water from the dam, our food supply would take a serious hit."
"Why are you showing me, then?" I turn in my seat to watch him as he drives. He's concentrating on the road, avoiding the roots and debris littering our path. "I'm part of the rebellion. I could easily tell my compatriots about this hidden sector."
"You aren't stupid, Taran, so let's not pretend you would do something that stupid." His voice is harsh with scorn, not the same as he'd used when he was showing me the area. "You aren't a rebel anymore. You're my wife and your loyalty is with me."
His answer stings, even if he's right. I wouldn't do something so stupid as set the farm up as a target. He's wrong about one thing, my loyalty is torn. Not so long ago I wouldn't have hesitated in telling my fellow rebels all about what I'd seen and trusted them to make the appropriate decision on what to do with that information. I would've trusted Xavier. But he's gone now, and I don't have access to the rebellion. Without knowing who, if anyone, is making the big decisions, I can't trust this information to get out.
