A middle-aged man was going through an old album. In the photo, there were four people Yang Biyu, Su Donghai, Su Guozhi and Tang Yuyan. In all the photos, Tang Yuyan was in Su Gouzhi arms and one could easily discern with a little attentiveness that the couple shared a more than friendly relation. The photos belonged to their teen years. They all had smiles on their faces. One could tell they were all close friends and having the best time of their lives. There were their photos from their trips to Japan, Hong Kong, Huwai and Switzerland. In fact, there wasn't a single place they left.
Su Donghai turned to the next section. In this section, the tragedy started. The looks Yang Biyu gave to Su Gouzhi changed. Longing and envy appeared in her eyes. The four of them were still smiling but now, only the two of them had real smiles. Neither Su Donghai nor Yang Biyu's smiles were genuine. Yang Biyu looked longingly at Su Guozhi while Su Donghai looked longingly at Yang Biyu.
Su Donghai was disturbed by a call from his personal secretary.
"What happened?"
His secretary explained everything about the recent activities of his daughter, Su Lanfen. He also informed him how she failed to get the media and how the chefs were found dead in the restaurant. Even the CCTV recordings were cleared by Su Lanfen and there was an obvious evidence of that.
In the end, Su Donghai was furious.
"Send for Su Lanfen. Tell her to come and meet me right now!" That stupid girl! How dare she make such a big move without even consulting her father!

Su Lanfen couldn't endure reading anymore. She quickly clicked the home page. And there it was, the trending post; the audio originally posted a famous celebrity on the app and then shared countless times. The attention the topic got, was gone overboard. Even the scandal she spread didn't get that attention. She looked through the app and found that Mo Liang had made an official response that woke up his thousand of fans and resulted in such a dramatic response.
"That bastard."
When she had called recklessly Jing Lihua, she was aware of the possibility that Jing Lihua could have recorded her call. But Su Lanfen's number was unknown. There was no way Jing Lihua could have already known that it was Su Lanfen call and started the audio record... unless... unless... she had the record function already activated for everyone. 
Su Lanfen felt like throwing her phone into the wall. "But still I'm not lost. We have paid the media a lot to exaggerate the scandal between her and Mo Liang. And the pictures are real. On the other hand, audio authenticity can be disputed. Still, she is one step behind me..." When she browsed through the latest news, Su Lanfen's heart dropped. Not a single reporter whispered about the Jing Lihua scandal. In fact, after typing her name, all that appeared was praises of her charity works and her recent success.
With cold hands, Su Lanfen gave a call to her manager.
"Why the media has not released the scandal yet? I emptied half oy bank accounts to fill their pockets! How could they do this to me!"
"Su Lanfen I'm trying to contact them. But no one from the media channels is picking my call. And also there is something impo..."

Mason entered the basement with all of the music equipments he bought and he noticed that his mother's shoes were gone.

"Forgot she has work."

Mason heard noises in the bathroom he saw Elizabeth entering the day before so he could assume that she was preparing to go somewhere.

He entered his bedroom and walked into shirt closet and touched some random spots on the wall before the wall opened up. It seemed like the spot on the wall he had to touch was the same as the one in the shoe closet.

He entered the secret room and began touching the wall on the other side before the wall closed.

In the secret room for shoes, there was outlets everywhere so the shirt's should be the same.

Mason looked for the best spot to set us his makeshift studio and luckily on the far left corner of the secret room was a spot where there wasn't any shirts hanged up. He first sat his laptop down and plugged it into the wall.

He began connecting everything together until the studio was ready. The reason making the studio in the secret shirt room was because it was the furthest away from his mother and Elizabeth's rooms.

He didn't want them to know about what he was doing yet. "Thank god that everything can be purchased with apps nowadays. My password for my bank account hasn't changed either. The meteor is a really generous heavenly being after all."

Mason opened up the MacBook and began setting it up. He made an account, logged in, and the first he did was connect to the WiFi. He wasn't worried about the WiFi password because he found it on his phone.

The WiFi was finally connected to his MacBook and Mason opened up safari. He searched up apps he could use to make music and he found one that costed 40 dollars.

Mason pressed download and it asked him for his name, credit card number and the sorts.

It began downloading and Mason had to decide which song he could use for his first song. He couldn't use the best songs because since he was just a new artist and that would just be a waste of a good song.

He decided to use the song, White Iverson as the first song he was going to release on SoundCloud. 

He knew that it wouldn't exactly have the same impact as the original song did for Post Malone but he wasn't afraid because if it didn't help him blow up, he still had many songs in his array. On the contrary it could go the opposite and be even more of an impact on Mason's music career than it did for Post's.

He had many reasons for choosing it. First, it made Post Malone blow up. Second, it was an amazing song that stuck to people's head. And lastly, it was 1 of the only songs that he memorized from heart.

Mason was glad that he didn't spend all of his money on his music equipments because the music video for this song was an amazing piece of art as well.

It was simple and yet it was so memorable.

Mason had some problems involving the lyrics to himself but changing it wouldn't have too much impact on the song itself, or at least that's what Mason convinced to himself.

Mason wrote the lyrics down onto a notebook that he grabbed from his room and after he finished, he edited some parts of the songs that he didn't think would fit him.

However most of the song was unedited and it still felt like a banger to Mason. He practiced singing this new versions for a while before taking a sip of water.

This bottle of water costed him 5 dollars. It was from a small store he entered while waiting for the Uber. Apparently it was good for his throat.

Although he didn't really believe, he still bought it just in case it was true.

He opened up the app that just finished downloading and because it was similar to the app his teacher had the students use in order to make a beat representing the country they choose for a project, he was able to easily navigate through the app.

Mason clicked on record and without stopping, Mason sang the whole song front to back without stopping.

After he finished I recording the song, he turned the recording off. He listened to the singing and already, he knew that it was going to be easier singing with the beat so Mason closed the vocal recording and opened up external audio.

It wasn't called the same as most apps but Mason could tell that the grid controller was accessed through there.

He clicked on each indivisual square on the grid controller and listened to what kind of sounds they made. He played around with it a bit and discovered that he could change the sounds, the pitch, and basically make the sound fit to what he needed.

There was also a piano on top so he wasn't worried about songs needing pianos.

He memorized the lyrics completely but the beat was a different situation. He could sort remember how the beat went but because he couldn't listen to the song itself, he could only guess.

After a while, he knew that he couldn't even remotely replicate the beat so he had no choice but to make his own.

He thanked his teacher for teaching the class how to make music so he had to take the hard route and make a beat around his singing.

He closed the external audio and reopened the vocal recorder. He recorded himself once again but it still didn't sound like it should have. Mason kept trying again and again until he was finally satisfied with the audio.

He listened to the audio and decided to clean it up. He wasn't improving his voice with autotune, he was just trying to further isolate his voice. Although it didn't change much, it still improved the audio. 

He changed some things here and there and finally he was completely satisfied. He listened to the song and played around some beats. He recorded them separately and duplicated his vocal audio and fit them all into each indivisual beats.

By the end, Mason had over 10 different versions of White Iverson and more than 6 hours past already. He listened to each and every single 1of them till the end of the song. 


He could immediately get rid of half of the songs. He used this process to get to his final 2. He listened to them both but he still couldn't decide so he listened once more.

Then Mason said, "Fuck it. Eeny, meeny, miny, moe, Catch a tiger by the toe. If he hollers, let him go, Eeny, meeny, miny, moe." Although it was childish, it worked.

He didn't delete any versions of the song, he saved them onto a file called, "White Iverson Fails 2 Hit A 3 Point Shot".

He was just having some fun with the file and didn't mean anything serious. He wanted to keep a file of his failed versions because although they weren't the best beats, they were still representations of how much hard work he had to put into stealing somebody's song.

Mason laughed at how funny it sounded in his head.

He actually wanted the file so he could turn them into beats. Although making beats wasn't all that hard, it would be easier to just take his old beat and change some things up.

There wasn't too much problems when switching up a song even if they were made to fit the song.

Mason edited the final song just a little bit and he was ready to put it onto SoundCloud. He was hoping that by releasing it onto SoundCloud first before releasing the music video, it wasn't going to influence the popularity of the song too much.

 But before he did, he needed to make a cover for this single. He actually took photoshop class in high school so it didn't take too long to make a cover.

The cover he created wasn't the same as the one Post Malone made. Mason always thought that the cover for the single could have been made better but he didn't really want to hate on it too badly because he made it before he became a professional artist after all.

Mason opened up SoundCloud and set the whole thing up before he began uploading the song.

"And there we go. Easy money. Only costed me around 5000 if I include the tax."

Mason Cohen, a regular boy with a regular name. He was a regular millennial that followed regular news about the media. Only thing different was that he was also a fan of light novels.

 only available for meeting/waiting rooms. with room design you can build your waiting room similar to the sims 4, but with realistic graphics (100% similar to real life) you can insert various images of rooms (eg. pinterest, weheartit) and choose which type of room they'd be (bedroom, bathroom, etc).lifa will automatically generate the room in 3d and you can adjust the position of each object and you can add more objects. you can insert pictures of items and furnitures to convert it to a 3d object in the app, so that you can add it to the room. lifa offers more than 50,000 objects and 1,000 houses for you to choose from 50% of them according to your aesthetic (lifa will automatically know what aesthetic you have), but similar to the sims, you can download custom objects and houses from the lifa wr/dr house store (free btw). you can make custom objects by visualizing them with the lifa crown on, or by describing them (color, aesthetic, etc), or by drawing them (no drawing skills needed as lifa is connected to your subconscious). you can simply describe the aesthetic of your waiting room and insert pictures with your desired theme (doesnt have to be house pictures) and lifa will generate your waiting room according to it. you can choose anything from lighting to wallpaper and flooring (its basically the sims 4's build mode but 1 trillion times better). when you click save, it will save your wr to your gallery, and then you can click "import" to transform your waiting room. you will go unconscious for 2 seconds

you can design a person's hair, body, face, etc. and you can script their personality and choose their traits. its basically CAS (create-a-sim) from the sims 4, but with realistic graphics (100% similar to real life). you can click and drag certain parts of the face and body to modify it. you can also use sliders if it makes it easier. you can change skin tone, skin type, undertone, hair color, hair texture, hair porosity, iris color, iris pattern (which you can draw) and etc. you can insert pictures of faces, hairs and bodies and lifa will generate it and convert it to a model in CAP (create-a-person). you can choose the person to be your dr self or anyone from your dr. the person will look 1 trillion times better. you insert a script of the person's personality and behaviour, lifa will recognize it. you can also script traits and the person's backstory. there are more than 500 positive, neutral, and negative traits each that you get to choose from. you can hover the mouse (pc) or press it for long (mobile) to see the meaning of each trait. you have to fill in each birth info (name, age, birthday, sign, blood type, etc) to your desire. you can also choose the relationship between the people when you're done with creating them (like the sims). then you can confirm and once you shift to your dr it will all be exactly like how you wanted and even 1 trillion times better. if you're lazy, you can select to let the universe fill in the gaps, and the universe will fill them like you wanted and even better.

The hall was filled to the brim with people; there were still people downstairs, and the elevator kept bringing new visitors. At 10 am, the proprietor for Tian Teng Medical School finally appeared. He was of average height, had a short haircut, and looked to be in his thirties. 

There were two models in revealing nurse costumes trailing behind them. Even though their make-up was startling white, their eyes never stopped releasing electricity. The man tried the loudspeaker and stood at the steps before the entrance of the Haunted House and said, "Everyone, thank you for your kind support. Tian Teng Medical School has always maintained…" 

Chen Ge's eyes scanned the two models. He was not going to pay attention to the man's introductory speech. He was thinking about designing a pretty and sexy costume for Xu Wan when his Haunted House had its next activity. 

The man talked for two to three minutes before finally getting to the point. 

"Our team optimizes the Haunted House every six months. With the aid of a professional foreign team, all the scares are updated, and as the proprietor, it is my responsibility to tell everyone that Tian Teng Medical School is scarier than all the other Haunted Houses available on the market! 

"We strive for the most realistic terror, unlike certain unethical Haunted Houses who rely on online water armies to brush up on their popularity. They think that this was clever, and some did fall for the dirty tricks, but to be honest, I find this behavior laughable!" 

Chen Ge was getting impatient from all the slander. He nudged forward through the crowd, but there were too many people. Finally, he reached the ticket seller. "One ticket please." 

"Did you book a ticket online?" 

"No." 

"I'm sorry, today's tickets have all been sold. How about you stay until afternoon? Perhaps there might be an opening then." 

"The tickets are all gone?" 

The proprietor continued to speak on stage. "If the Haunted Houses on the market are first generation, my Tian Teng Medical School is a fourth generation Haunted House that combines many high-end technology! 

"Today is the first day we're opening our doors for the citizens of Jiujiang. To let everyone have a clearer understanding of the situation, I'll randomly select four visitors to experience the Haunted House with an audio recorder and a portable electrocardiographic monitor! Through the speakers that are connected to the audio recorder and the cardiograph broadcasted on screen, you'll be able to see for yourself how scary our Haunted House is!" 


Before the proprietor finished talking, there was already cheer from the crowd. It was hard to tell whether this was a set-up or not. 

"There's a code behind every ticket, and we'll select the lucky ones with a randomized code generator." The man nodded to the sales counter, and the workers started to do their work. 

Chen Ge saw everything with his eyes. The man stepped on his Haunted House to bring himself up, and he could not take that lying down. 

"Wait!" Chen Ge raised his hand and walked onto the stage. "You said earlier that your Haunted House is scary but other Haunted Houses depend on online water army to brush up on their popularity. That, I don't agree with." 

The man frowned. If not for the crowd, he would have called for security to haul Chen Ge out. 

"I am the boss of Western Jiujiang's House of Horrors, the owner of the Haunted House that you're happily slandering online. The day before yesterday I just hosted a livestream that has more than 600,000 viewers." 

When Chen Ge walked to the stage, there was a familiar voice from the crowd that called out. "Boss‽" 

Chen Ge followed the voice and saw He San and Gao Ru Xue standing in the crowd. 

"Why are you here?" Chen Ge was baffled. He San was openly supporting his enemy. "If you want to experience a Haunted House, why didn't you come to me?" 

He San did not know how to explain himself. He could not openly admit before the proprietor of Tian Teng Medical School that Boss Chen's Haunted House was too scary. His class was still having nightmares from their previous experience and thus decided to come to another Haunted House to seek some relaxation. 

The man took this in as well. He had already recognized Chen Ge. "Looks like your Haunted House is not that popular; even your own friend won't support you. Fine, if you insist on learning some tricks from us, we're willing to provide you with this opportunity. Don't say that we're not generous people." 

The man was clever. Since they dared slander Chen Ge's Haunted House online, they obviously knew of Chen Ge. By letting Chen Ge into the Haunted House, his intention was clear. If Chen Ge was scared inside Teng Tian Medical School, he could use this as a point of promotion and forcefully yank the customers from Western Jiujiang's House of Horrors. Chen Ge had the same idea as he did; they both wanted to persuade the other's visitors to come to their own. 

Due to the recent livestream, Chen Ge's Haunted House had become a hot item online, but he knew that the popularity would not last for long. At most, it would last for a week. Even though Tian Teng Medical School was not as popular as Chen Ge's Haunted House within Jiujiang, they had a large national popularity and a number of loyal fans like Su Su. 

"Come, help him put on the audio recorder and heart monitor." The two models walked toward Chen Ge. "Now, we'll pick the remaining three lucky visitors." 

"I don't think that's necessary." Chen Ge shrugged. "Challenging a Haunted House alone is more fun. If you can manage to scare me, I will admit that my Haunted House is not as scary as yours on my website and promote your Haunted House for a whole month." 

The man was intrigued by what Chen Ge said, but he was cautious as well. He was sure Chen Ge was up to something. "How are we going to gauge that we've managed to scare you?" 

"You've installed the heartrate monitor, right? The normal heartrate when a person is walking is between 60 to 100. When they're scared, the oxygen in their blood will drastically decrease, and the heart will pump faster." Chen Ge looked at the man and calmly said, "If my heartrate ever rises over 100, I'll lose." 

"You have a deal." The man did not give Chen Ge any chance to change his mind. Even a small jog would bring a man's heartrate over 100, much less being scared. From how he saw it, Chen Ge was bound to lose. 

"Don't be so hasty. If I lose, I will admit your Haunted House is scarier than mine online, but what if you lose?" 

"Don't worry, if we lose, we'll also admit that our Haunted House is not as scary as yours online." The man pointed at the crowd. "Everyone here can be your witness." 

"Actually, I still have one small request." Chen Ge smiled innocently. "I think that you still have some misunderstandings about my Haunted House. I hope that your team will be willing to come visit my Haunted House. I've added a new scenario, and it hasn't been opened to the public yet." 

"Okay, no problem," the man promised easily and earned affection from the crowd. Only He San and Gao Ru Xue had a curious expression on their faces. Looking at the man, they saw themselves in the past overlapping with him.

This was my evaluation as a filmmaker? I expected something better...There was one thing I wasn't familiar about in that list though: Production Design. I think I may have missed some classes in film school. I clicked on it to see its description. 

Production Design: Designing the overall look of the film. This includes set design, props, costume design, makeup, etcetera. 

Ah, I see. I don't really specialize in that area. In fact, I don't specialize in a lot of the things mentioned in the status. For cinematography, I have my Director of Photography. For Editing, I have my team of editors. A director does not really need to be good at everything. But I guess now that I am alone in this world, I'll have to get better at those things as well. 

I went back to the main menu and tried pressing filmography this time.

So this is a list of every film I've done. But I was sure I made more films than this...but those were short films I made in film school. I guess the app only takes into account full-feature films rather than short films. However, I didn't expect "Why?" to be my best film yet. I did put my heart and soul into that project but that was the film that tanked the hardest financially.  And yikes...my first film received quite a harsh evaluation. That film was made in the period of my life when I was too arrogant and thought I could become a master director from the get-go. 

I noticed that other than evaluation, there's also something called 'heart points'. What is that? I also noticed that I had a total of 1000 of them, presumably from my previous films.  Right as I was thinking about that, my phone received a message notification again.

Holy shit! But I guess that's a given. Even on earth, you can't buy an Imax camera as there were only a few of them available worldwide. You'll have to rent them. And even then, if you're not some bigtime studios, they wouldn't let you rent one. And even if you got one in your hand, you'll have to also purchase specialized audio equipment, projectors, and the silver screen itself to play an Imax film. But the notion that I could own my personal Imax camera is certainly VERY enticing. The RED camera I'm working with right now already has quite a great quality though so I'm content with it for now.

Suddenly, all of the previous messages were deleted instantly from my phone. I guess this is it...

The world outside of my van has already turned dark. The streets were empty but some lights can be seen from inside some of the buildings. The dragon skull looked even more ominous under the night sky. I pulled the recliner of my seat so I can lay down. My mind started to wander off into the distance....what kind of film should I make?

An aspiring indie filmmaker was suddenly transported to a fantasy world while shooting a scene in a remote tropical jungle. Having no fighting experience or any other experience, he was only left with his film-directing skills and the shooting equipment that was also transported along with him. 

He finally decided to be the first film director of this strange new world. He will introduce the craft of filmmaking to that world and move the hearts of its inhabitants with his films.

After my failures in astral travel, I decided to go back to the basics. I needed to go back to the basics. I needed to learn how to meditate. Something which I have never done before in my life. I've always looked down on meditation. I saw it as something only monks do in the mounts and strange people who worship crystals and do yoga. Now here I was turning to meditation. I had to swallow my pride and just do it.

I found it extremely difficult at the start. Everything was itchy. The sounds were overwhelmingly bothersome and my thoughts just. Would. Not. SHUT. UP! This just wasn't working for me. It was the first time that I couldn't teach myself just simply my reading and trying. I turned to an app called headspace for help. The app allowed you to stream guided meditation soundtracks. The only issue was that the app seemed very buggy and the download speed wasn't very fast. It didn't help that it also didn't tell you the download progress.

After getting frustrated with the app I went hunting on the internet and managed to get my hands on guided meditation soundtracks that were made by the guy from headspace back when he was just starting out in the cyber world of guided meditation. This was better. The audio quality was good and I could save it on my phone and listen to it whenever I wanted. Now that I had a teacher I started doing 5 min sessions in the morning before I start my day and in the evening before I went to bed. The guided meditation was easy to follow and was exactly what I needed.

But just focusing on meditation wasn't quite enough for me. I need to also practice what I had read. I started with "The Psychonaut Field Manual", more specifically the part on gnosis. It had an exercise where it taught the reader to enter gnosis. The long and short of it was that you needed to stare into a candle for a given period of time. (I don't want to spoil too much of the book). So overachieving me decided to go big on my first go. I, as usual, waited until my family was asleep to start my exercise. I used my desk chair to put the candle on. I sat on the ground, arm length away and started. I forced myself to stare into that sucker for about forty minutes. To make it even worst I also held my blinking back. Let's just say it was like going on a psychedelic trip. I started seeing wavy lines that looked like sin graphs and the colors of the candle moved between blue and yellow. At least that night I had a good sleep.

I redid the exercise a few times, but I went softer on myself each time. Eventually, I decided that having a random candle burning in my room in the middle of the night was just too great of a risk, so I decided to scrap the idea and move on to the next exercise. At least now I had a basis that I could start building on. I had the ability to meditate, but not very well just yet and I had good concentration. But what to try next?
