Requested by .chr and something I had to quickly study up on to realise how ironic it is for this to be requested after my 'Time Travel' analysis. He also wanted me to cover Cessation of Existence but that is more of the 'feeling' of not existing rather than the results that happen from not existing. Since I have never 'not existed' before, I can't detail it well.

Now onto to the trope itself. There are many ways to suddenly 'not exist'. Maybe no one remembers you or is actively wiping any traces of you. This is quite different from ACTUALLY not existing since the almighty author can wipe out any characters without anyone other than the readers being the wiser.

Usually there's at least one other person who knows someone has been 'erased from existence' somehow and it normally not a delusion they created because they're a lonely NEET with no life.

Ahem, getting back on topic. As long as no one else remembers your character, then this trope has been implemented. If done to the protagonist, you can either put him in a state where he absolutely needs help to come back like that one in Rascal Does Not Dream Of Bunny Girl Senpai or continues to exist but have their entire previous history wiped away.

The former is pretty straightforward where you can only make everyone remember through some specific task, but the 'crisis' part of not being remembered is not what this trope is used for.

After all, avoiding death is a way more simple crisis than being erased from existence. So why is this trope even used? The answer to that is the actual results of 'not being remembered' and if getting everyone's memory back is even worth the effort.

The changes that happen when a person is Ret Gone'd is scaled from good, bad, big, or small.

If the person is the 'world saviour' or someone very important in human history, then expect a bad change on a world scale. However, if it's a random citizen who had no real affect on the people around them, then expect nothing to happen and the things they did being done by someone else instead.

Normally, being 'erased' would create a present where everyone is sadder without you, and the only way to make them happier is to come back, but this is usually character driven rather than 'epic'.

If the Ret Gone is permanent, then the story can be about making new memories, but if it can be reversed, you'd best make sure that key events in their life actually matter to the reader.

Now this, like I said in my previous analysis, only applies to the main character unless you want to add a mystery element by making the Ret Gone'd character someone else. The first Anime example I gave even made entire point on how heartbreaking it was for the main character to have the relationship they built up through heartfelt interaction, severed.

But let's not make it all about that story and expand the benefits of this trope a little. I mean, besides making a story about 'fighting to exist' there are many darker takes that can be written just by not assuming 'everything' about the characters existence was good. Even good people make mistakes sometimes and it would be hard for everyone to want this person to be 'un-erased'.

And if your character still exists beyond his erased past, then the decisions he makes and the 'bonds' he relies on will be what gets everyone to remember his existence again. There were several times a character was Ret Gone'd in Yamada and the Seven Witches, and the main character always had to reform his relationship with them again before he could get them to remember they were his friends.

And that's all I got to say about it, the shock of someone suddenly 'not existing' plus the emotional and status quo changes is what makes this trope so likeable. It IS NOT to be used if death or literally something else could be a crisis instead.

This is a story I worked on ages ago that has been refined and edited by adding foreshadowing to events while also simplifying the power system better than before. This story can be considered a prequel to An Adventure Beyond Greatness as it takes place years prior to the events of that story.

Short Synopsis:
After retiring from the battlefield, my life became empty and lifeless. The regrets of my past haunt me in my sleep. Then a change occurred, a King from another world summoned me to fight for his kingdom, but I died even before I could give him my answer. Now, after a fake God allowed me to reincarnate (albeit imperfectly) with my memories intact, into a world filled with magic and swords.

Long Synopsis:
This is about a flawed protagonist who only knew to rely on others and not socialise who gets a second chance to change himself in order to live the life he aimed for in his past life. The narrator isn’t exactly trustworthy since it is purely in his bias perspective while other perspectives given by others fill in the blanks that he either leaves out or twists to suit the situation.

The story itself can be considered a parody of Isekai’s classic tropes which are given a sense of reality as time goes by. As there exists no ‘Demon Lord’, there is also no black and white, only characters opinions and counter-opinions throughout the story.

Marcus's words were full of righteousness and justice. He had turned into a messenger of righteousness and was condemning Steve.
Most of the audience present was immediately riled up, as they regarded Steve as an absolute villain.
In fact, most of the soldiers were filled with such disgust for Steve, they even began to insult him...
"Da*n it! We were all deceived!"
"The evidence is right in front of you, yet you still try to deny it!"
"Better to cancel the bet than to let such a cheater succeed!"
"Bah! Son of a bi*ch!"
"Sh*tty thing! Cheating by setting up the bet!"
Many of the people were shouting, showing how furious they were. If not for their adherence to the conditions of proper etiquette, several people would have rushed to the stage to assault Steve!
After all, Steve had worked with Lawrence to extort money from the Black Tiger Combat Unit. But, they had lost miserably. Hence, Steve could never be forgiven for hurting their interests!
Steve smiled calmly and said, "You've investigated me well. Unfortunately, your so-called evidence is full of loopholes. These people have deceived themselves into believing your so-called evidence because they are desperate."
Although these kinds of slanderous words would hurt other soldiers, Steve didn't care.
"Firstly, Lawrence lost because he failed to morph, and this let me take advantage of him. Everyone could see that I was not far from being defeated," Steve explained calmly.
After he said this, the abuse stopped. After all, the people weren't complete idiots, so they naturally were all able to see how dangerous the battle was. Both sides showed no mercy, and Steve had indeed almost been defeated.
"Secondly, if I'm not wrong, it's because you've lost the game and you can't afford to pay. So, you are acting shamelessly and wanting to cancel it." Steve sneered. "I just checked the odds, and as long as I win 1-10, that means 15,000 contribution points. But, you have to compensate me 15,000 million contribution points!"
Steve took a breath, then continued. "You can't come up with such a huge amount of contribution points, so you deliberately slander me by saying that Lawrence and I worked together to fake the battle! As for where Lawrence's contribution went, it's simple. As long as you transfer his contribution points first before creating fake evidence, it'll make sense without proof."
This second analysis caused Marcus' expression to change, while panic spread in his heart. This was because Steve's analysis was exactly what they'd done! But, Marcus could not admit that it was true, even if it killed him!
"Everything you've just said was merely your own speculation. There is no evidence at all. As for me, I have photos to prove it. Moreover, everyone already knows that you have a bad character!" Marcus said coldly.
Many people heard Marcus and jumped on the bandwagon...
"Yes! Everything you've said was just your speculation."
"At least Marcus has proof! What evidence do you have?"
"Hmph! Everyone sees how bad your character is. There are also videos of you circulating on the internet, so your words are not credible at all!"
Although Steve's analysis was well-founded and everyone felt that he made sense, they had to admit that it was still just Steve's speculation. As such, there was no evidence to prove any of it.
"You want evidence? Simply go to the bank! As long as the Black Tiger Combat Unit can take out 150,000 contribution points to prove that they have the ability to compensate, my second analysis will naturally fail," Steve said calmly.
In fact, Steve knew that they couldn't afford to pay. However, if the other party did not disclose the news regarding the one billion in original gold, Steve would talk about the one billion in original gold too. This was because the one billion in original gold would become his bet due to his disguise!
As to the reason why they kept quiet about the one billion in original gold, it was simple. If Marcus were to announce the one billion in original gold bet, it was tantamount to acknowledging that they canceled the bet because they couldn't afford the huge prizes!
Marcus' face changed dramatically, as he didn't expect Steve to do that. Steve was right, as they indeed couldn't take out 150,000 contribution points in such a short time!
"This is a joke! As it is among the top 50 battle teams, how can the Black Tiger Combat Unit not even have 150,000 contribution points?" Marcus sneered.
"Then, take it out and show everyone!" Steve said calmly.
Marcus' forehead was dripping with sweat. "Due to a miscalculation of gambling money, the team's contribution points account has been temporarily frozen. So, at least at the moment, we cannot fulfil your request."
"Is that really the reason?" Steve sneered, clearly doubtful.
Marcus was so angry,he wanted to slap Steve right there. But, in this moment, he could only bite his tongue and endure.
The soldiers present also showed doubts and looked at Marcus suspiciously. In this way, Steve's analysis was quickly becoming more believable in their minds.
"Haha, So, say that your account has really been frozen, do you think there's nothing else I can do?" Steve sneered, his face full of anger. "You guys were spreading rumors about me on the internet, slandering my character, and even erasing the surveillance records. Did you really think that you didn't leave any crumbs behind?"
Marcus' expression changed, as he thought that they had eliminated all of the evidence! Surely Steve wouldn't be able to find any evidence to overthrow my claim that he was an absolute villain!
"Everyone has seen the video and the pictures on the Internet, so don't you think they'll know if it's true or not?" Marcus asked sarcastically. "You said that the Black Tiger Combat Unit had spread the rumors and slandered you. Do you have any proof that it was us?"
Until now, it had been widely believed that Steve was the kind of villain who bullies the weak and was unreasonable and rude.
"I have the evidence." Steve laughed. "This is the moment I've been waiting for. Mr. George, Mr. Belak, if I may trouble you for a moment..."
Whoosh...
Whoosh...
A data transport matrix appeared again in the sky, while two men in police uniforms came down. When they saw those two men, the soldiers all felt that they looked familiar. They were sure that they had never seen them before, but they felt an indescribable sense of familiarity.
"I'm sure that you all think that these men look familiar. That's right, Mr. George and Mr. Belak were the members of the security team who detained Wally, Eric, and Oliver last night. They also helped Mr. Ron of the Consumer Association to sort out the lawsuit yesterday." Steve stepped up and introduced George and Belak.
Marcus' face turned pale in an instant. When they were doctoring the evidence and felt confident that they had covered their tracks, they had apparently forgotten all about the members of the security team!
Who would have thought that Steve would invited them here?

Hi guys! 

If you haven't noticed, for the past 2-3 days I've been editing the previous chapters. A few days ago after posting the first update, I began planning out the novel again, and this time I made sure to exactly plan out what type of characters and world-building I wanted.

I created a whole bunch of docs for character analysis and world-building, and I think I finally know what type of characters I want to create. 

The biggest problem I had with the characters of my story was the male lead. I felt like I made him to much of cliche male lead. He was too quick in his affection for the main character in chapter 6, and he didn't really have much of a personality either. So I went back and I fixed up his character. I hope to make him a more fleshed-out character and someone that differs from other male leads.

Somehow after dying an unfortunate death, she transmigrated into the body of a villainess. 

Stupidly in love with the male lead, she ignored the one who truly loved her. In the end, she schemed against the female lead, only to die a gruesome death.

Yet, just when she thought she should have had the upper hand due to her future knowledge, she finds out that the characters are much different than what they seem.

About This Story: I wanted to make a more realistic transmigrated female lead novel since all the ones I’ve read are filled with one cliche after another. When I say realistic I mean 100% I will try to be as realistic as possible. There will be no “MC is overpowered and good at everything”. The MC will act in a way that I interpret someone in her situation would also act, and one thing for sure she will not be using the ML as a shield in any way.

"Great! This is really him!" Chen Feng's hand made a fist, he jumped excitedly.

Beside Uzumaki Naruto, the character who made Chen Feng had a deep impression was this man, Namikaze Minato.

Minato was the father of the main character in anime "Naruto". He was known as the Fourth Hokage of Konoha, his name was renowned all over the ninja world for his speed. This recognition was due to his Space-Time Ninjutsu that was called "Flying Thunder God Jutsu". He could engage the enemy, retrieve the ally or block the enemy's technique before anyone realized it.

Minato could instantly move to the location of anything that was marked by his special seal. He could even bring others with him, though he needed to provide the chakra and made contact with them before he could activate his technique. What makes it special was that he didn't need to accompany with the target to the teleport place.

Sadly, he died during the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox's Attack, he sacrificed his life to seal a part of the Nine-Tails into his newborn son, Uzumaki Naruto, the main character of the story.

"System, can I extract the Nine-Tails that was sealed in his body?" Chen Feng asked curiously.

>[Not Available]< System replied.

"Okay, I'm just curious. Now I only have 350 Achievement Points. Which one should I extract first?" Chen Feng pondered for a moment.

In fact, he was interested in "Flying Thunder God Jutsu". If he wanted, he could wait for a few days until he had enough Achievement Points to extract it.

Regardless, Chen Feng also tempted to extract the "Shadow Clone Jutsu". This technique was the signature of Naruto. Not only he used it to confuse and attacked the enemy, it also could help him to speed up his training or did a lot of things for him. 

It was also special for Chen Feng, especially since he just became the cultivator, he didn't want to sit cultivating all day in his room.

"Yosh! I decide to extract this technique first." Chen Feng finally made up his mind.

Just as he about to command the system, Chen Feng remembered something crucial. It was the source of power, the "Chakra". He didn't know whether in his world had "Chakra" or not. Then, he asked to the system.

Soon, all the information about this technique was printed in his brain. Chen Feng closed his eyes, he tried to make the hand sign according to the method, then he infused the Inner Energy and shouted.

Suddenly, Four identical "Chen Feng" was showed up in the room.

"Great! Success!" Chen Feng clapped his hand happily.

However, he soon noticed something weird happened. He saw that each one of his clones was acting unusual.

"Aww...I'm sleepy. Wake me up when the time for dinner, good night." Clone 1 yawned and quickly slept on the bed.

"Yosh! Come! Let's exercise together!" Clone 2 began to push up on the floor.

"Ah~ Why am I so handsome? This skin, this muscle, my body is so perfect~" Clone 3 was combing his hair while posing in front of the mirror.

"This room is so dirty. Go go away. I need to clean up. How am I supposed to live in this room until now, I wonder?" Clone 4 wore the face mask, he went to take the broom and began to tidy up the room.

Chen Feng stunned by his sight, he even forgot closing his mouth. Is this really my shadow clone? Why is this so different from the anime?

"WHAT'S GOING ON HERE? WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?" Chen Feng couldn't help crying out loud while pointing his shaking finger to them.

There were some that were combat related, but there were also some that focused on other aspects as well. For example the [Engineer] and [Scientist] Classes, these two made Danny think about his childhood, how he dreamed of being both an engineer and a scientist, because he simply felt unsatisfied with only being one of them. But then he felt a little dumb after realizing that there is not much difference between an engineer and a scientist, even though they sound completely different.  An engineer can make scientific discoveries, and a scientist can as well build devices, what is different about them is what they focus on. Scientists observe the world, while engineers focus on creating. While both fields do involve observation and analysis, engineering mainly deals with creating and working on already existing creations, while scientists work with things in nature.

The engineer does not have much of a combat advantage when facing against fighter classes, on the other hand, the role does serve as an excellent support class for maintenance and fortification. 'Alright then, I think these two should suffice, though I didn't pick a combat related class, like the [Marine] for example, or even the [Agent], [Gunner], [Sharpshooter], [Officer] or [Pugilist]. I don't think I'll need it, I'll just make my own weapons for self defense when it comes to it though.' A seemingly optimistic thought was inside Danny's mind.

After finally picking his two classes, he decided that it was time to press the 'Finish' button that was at the bottom left of the list...

But then the familiar female voice blessfully said:
"Since you have not picked a combat class, you will be granted a free weapon crate to keep yourself safe from your enemies..."

"Oh, um... Thanks I guess?" There was a metallic crate shown on the screen, that is the weapon crate. 'Honestly, I didn't expect to pick up a secret bonus just for not picking any combat orientated class for protection...' He honestly thought to himself.

He wondered about what everyone else would have chosen as their two starter classes, he wouldn't imagine of the others choosing two non combat related classes, at most he could only think of them only having one class that isn't combat related, which they would likely accompany with a combat related class. But he believed that the average player would have chosen two classes for combat, just for extra firepower and strength, unlike Danny who enjoys building and making things in games the most of a time.

After a few seconds of thought, he decided to continue by pressing the 'Continue' button.
Which was followed by the same voice: "Would you like to open your character sheet before you enter officially enter Cosmos?"

"Hmm... Sure, I don't see a reason not to, go ahead, show me."

'My my, that is what I like to see!' He thought in his head, though it said that his [Psionic aptitude] was absolute zero, that was something he could get in the future... 

'Alright, it's about time for me that I were to set off!'

As he pressed 'Continue' a white light covered his entire vision.

Before diving into a VR-MMO game 'Cosmos' that every gamer was looking forward to, Danny -an adolescent living in the 22nd century of the 'Interplanetary era'- was just like any average gamer within the era.

 When he was logging in, he was given a class sheet containing a list of various starter classes, however when he saw the 'Engineer' and 'Scientist' classes, it reminded himself of his childhood dreams of how he wanted to become both of them in the future. Since the game starts the players with two starter classes, he decided to pick both.

But when he finished logging on, he did not expect to spawn on a world where he wasn't supposed to be in.

When I began writing the biography of Death, I was not sure where it would lead me. Real life inspiration and the darkest recesses of my mind competed to see which could be the more sinister. To a large extent I blindly followed them, and merely wrote down whatever sweet songs of madness they crooned to me along the trail. 

Like most writers I wrangled friends and relatives into giving me feedback. One, a millennial snowflake, was invaluable. They seemed to consider this fantasy nightmare I had created, to be some sort of manifesto. For the record this book is pure fiction. Fiction inspired by real world events in a few cases, but fiction nonetheless. Like all works of supernatural horror, this book is meant to be entertainment. It is perhaps a meditation on the zeitgeist of the modern west, but it is still as fictional as 1984 or A Christmas Carol. 

Another person seemed bothered by the apparent moral contradictions in my lead character. To this I can only say that a man is the sum of his contradictions. People love to apply the rules to others, but find reasons to grant themselves exceptions to their own rules. I did not want an incorruptible white knight monster. Being scientifically minded, Nom proceeds to experiment searching out the scopes of his new found powers. He begins in Texas, a state he despises. As he moves on from each experiment, he picks his prey to match some facet of modern western life that he hates. Each receive a fate customized to match what Nom feels they did wrong. Nom then travels home to Michigan after initially defining his new role in life. In Michigan he uses his powers to settle a few old scores and family business. A run-in with an old friend convinces him that he is being selfish for not using his god like powers to better mold humanity. The end of the book sees him taking on the leader of the free world. Nom now personifying Death, learns that he has a true foe, Life.Nom will return.
