When Dreams Come True
Max and Felix reach the beach and crest a small hill, they see the beautiful sunset as the sun slowly starts disappearing under the horizon. Max and Felix are catching their breath after their little race.
Felix: Woo, here we are!
Max: Woah... What an awesome beach view! This is where you spent most of your life? Living so close to such a beautiful place…
Max sighs as he looks over the hill towards the sunset, catching his breath.
Max: Anyways, let's have some fun!
Felix: But first, we have to talk about something very serious… CATCH ME IF YOU CAN!
Max: Oh you gotta be kidding me! I'm still catching my breath!
Felix dashes off down the hill and onto the sandy beach. Max laughs and starts chasing Felix along the sandy coast. As Felix runs while laughing and looking back at Max, he trips and falls down into the sand. Max catches up and immediately pounces on him and pins him down, smiling at him.
Max: Gotcha!
Felix: Yeah, you got me!
Max: Only because you fell though, clumsy!
Max lays down next to Felix on the sand. A soft, heavenly breeze blows by, kicking up the sand around them and makes them feel in complete peace, without disturbance.
Max: I never thought I'd actually enjoy life, or that it'd be this beautiful…
Max and Felix sit up. Felix wraps his arm around each Max's back and rests his hands on one of his shoulders.
Felix: We've brought a new light unto each other's lives. It's like we were born to be together, even if it took some years to finally meet... But now is the time of our lives, and our turn to be deeply happy, together.
Max: Yeah, I reckon we were destined to meet. We're meant to explore this world together, create beautiful memories and have the best experiences of our lives. I'm still being haunted by my past, but like I've heard others say, learn from the past, prepare for the future, and the present is now, so enjoy it! I'll try to not let my past affect my future badly, we'll stay forever together until the very end.
Felix: I promise I will stay forever with you!
Max: You know, it's just very surprising that somebody really does care about me. No one ever wanted anything to do with me in my past, every kid back there had friends, but not me. I wanted to join a game they were playing together? Nope, they'd either ignore me or told me to just get lost. And now, I still haven't found out why I was always left out from everything. Is it because of how I look? Do I look strange to them? Ugly? Someone mean and unfriendly? I dunno. I can't find answers to these questions, even now. But you, Felix... you're completely different from everyone else I've known, you've an enormous heart… you care for me, and... I just can't thank you enough for it. I look up to you, and love you to the fullest! Just... thank you for changing my life, making everything so much better, and some of my dreams come true! I want to give back to you, so I'll do everything I can to make your own life with me as beautiful and amazing as well! I wish I could do more, but I'm just a freak, for now, at least. I'm not capable of much more. I mean, how could I ever repay you for what you've done for me? Your- No, our parents mean everything to me ever since... you adopted me…
Max tries to hold back tears while he expresses some of his deepest feelings. Felix hugs him tight and wraps his fluffy tail around him to comfort Max.
Felix: You're the cutest wolf I've ever met! You're the best brother that I could ever have. If those guys couldn't appreciate you, they don't know what they're missing out on! I just… I love you so much, Max, you mean the world to me and I'll always be with you, no matter what happens. You'll always have a helping paw here!
Max: Thank you so much! But on a different topic… could you… could you get me a pawdroid phone? I have a feeling I'll desperately need it at school on Monday…
Felix: Yeah! Of course, we can get you one tomorrow! Anything for my little brother, but hey, don't use it too much!
Max: I'll try not to, I'll just… I'll be listening to music since no one is probably going to make friends with me… I-is there anything I should be afraid of? I don't know how real schools work…
Felix: Just smile and chat to people, there'll be plenty of animals who'll be interested in you.
Max: I'll just be so shy when I enter my class, but I guess I'll try to be more social…
Felix: Look, even I was really shy the first time I entered my class, but I sat next to a boy and I talked to him for a while, then we became really good friends and then I slowly became good friends with the rest of the class!
Max: Well, I'll try my best… I want to be as good as you are.
Max stands up and walks closer to the sea. Felix follows him.
Felix: You're gonna do great, Max, don't worry about a thing!
Max: Hey, let's collect some shells!
Felix: Oh yeah! I loved doing that when I was small. I'd collect them up and make necklaces out of them!
Felix kneels down and collects some shells. He grabs a cord from his pocket and links the shells together, making a really cute necklace, Felix puts it around Max's neck.
Max: Aww… thank you so much! You're so awesome... Can I keep this? I think it'd really help me at school. If I happen to feel down, I'll just hold it in my paws so it will remind me of a fox named Felix who will cheer me up and encourage me…
Felix: Sure! It's all yours!
Max: It's so shiny…
Felix: Yeah, it fits you really well!
As Felix and Max talk to each other, time flies by, and by the time they realize the time, it's almost dark, and Max becomes nervous, thinking that they shouldn't be outside this late.
Max: How much longer do you want to stay here? The atmosphere is so awesome out here. But... it's getting dark, should we go home? I don't want to go home yet… could we stay for a bit longer?
Felix checks his watch.
Felix: We could stay outside for a bit longer then, but we gotta make sure to be home by dinner! Our parents have probably already returned from shopping…
Max: Oh, dinner… Right. What's for dinner though? I just realized how hungry I am… I still don't want to go home yet though, I like it out here...
Felix: For dinner… I think we're having fish, do you like it?
Max: Of course! It's tasty, healthy! I used to eat heaps of fish back in... You know where, in my prison…
They continue to talk to each other, a small crab appears next to Max, who jumps in panic and hides behind Felix.
Max: Argh! What IS that thing?!
Felix: What? Oh! It's just a crab Max, hehe, seems you haven't seen any yet…
Felix kneels down, lets the crab walk onto his paw and shows it to Max.
Felix: See? It's not dangerous if you're careful with it…
Max: Why does it look like an alien or something? Where did it come from? It scared the crap out of me!
Felix: Hey, they're totally passive. They just roam around the beach, it probably came out from under the sand.
Max: I'm such a stupid wolf…
Felix: Aww, c'mon, you're not dumb, cutie…
Felix kisses Max's cheek and puts the crab down back onto the sand.
Max: Aww… hey… let's play a game called hide and seek for a few minutes before we go back home, please! It's something that the kids used to play all the time in the adoption centre.
Max keeps begging Felix to play Hide and Seek.
Felix: Alright, if you insist! Anything for you. Who's hiding?
Max: I'll be hiding! Turn around and face the sea, start counting to… uh, twenty! Okay? That should be enough time for me to hide!
Felix: Okay Max!
Felix faces the sea and starts counting to twenty while Max begins to run towards the city, leaving tracks behind in the sand.
Felix:...eighteen, nineteen and twenty!
Felix turns around and scans the beach, searching for his little brother. There's no sign of Max, only the tracks of his feet he left behind. Felix walks around until he sees some of the tracks in the sand.
Felix: Are these… his tracks? They're… they're leading towards the city! Tracks even across the road! This, this isn't good…
Felix starts freaking out, afraid that Max could get lost and hurt, alone near the city. What's most worrying is that the foot tracks end right after the footwalk of the road, causing bigger troubles on finding Max, and even bigger fears to Felix.
