Chapter 1Partners in Crime

Author's note: I'm so glad you stopped by to check out my story! I truly hope you enjoy the fan fiction I've poured my heart and soul into. This is my very first story, and I couldn't be prouder of what I've created. I would love to hear your honest opinions and any detailed reviews you might have, so please don't hesitate to share constructive feedback or point out any errors, whether they're grammatical or related to the plot. As I mentioned, this is my debut story, inspired by a Disney movie that many of us adore. :D It may have its imperfections, but it would mean a lot to me if you could leave a rating or a review. I'm committed to improving, and I feel my writing gets stronger with each chapter, just like the story itself. I have more exciting content coming your way, including a sequel titled "Zootopia: Beyond the Horizon," which you can now find on my profile. Additionally, I'm working on two spin-offs that will delve deeper into specific characters and expand the universe. Thank you so much for your support! Now, relax and enjoy the read!

The evening is stunning, with the sun gradually descending beyond the horizon. Our focus shifts to two brothers, Max and Felix Ridgewood. Max, a young wolf, and Felix, a teenage fox, have recently become siblings after Felix's parents adopted Max. The brothers are relishing their time together, fully immersed in their playful adventures—until an unexpected and troubling event occurs. They are on the verge of starting a game of Hide and Seek at one of Zootopia's largest beaches, a place typically bustling with various animals, but as night falls, it begins to empty out.

Max: Hey, Felix! Let's play a game called hide and seek for a few minutes before we go back home, please! It's something that the kids used to play all the time in the adoption center.

Max keeps begging Felix to play Hide and Seek.

Felix: Alright, if you insist! Anything for you, even though I don't think this is the best place to play Hide and Seek. Who's hiding?

Max: I'll be hiding! Turn around and face the sea; start counting to... uh, twenty! Okay? That should be enough time for me to hide!

Felix: Okay, Max!

Felix turns to the ocean and begins counting to twenty, while Max dashes toward the city, crossing the road and leaving footprints in the sand.

Felix: eighteen, nineteen, and twenty!

Felix turns around and surveys the surroundings, looking for his younger brother. He finds no trace of Max, just the footprints he has left in his wake. Felix continues to move about until he spots some of the imprints in the sand.

Felix: Are these his tracks? They're... they're leading towards the city! Tracks even across the road! This isn't good...

Felix is becoming increasingly anxious, fearing that Max might be lost and in danger alone near the city. The most concerning aspect is that the footprints abruptly stop at the edge of the road, complicating the search for Max and amplifying Felix's fears. What initially seemed like a fun game of hide & seek has quickly turned into a distressing situation for Felix. Max has vanished across the street, and Felix is frantically looking for his younger brother, pleading for him to come out of his hiding place. The streets are deserted, shrouded in darkness, with a chilly breeze sweeping through the air. Max has disappeared into the night, and Felix's worry has intensified. He is no longer playing. He simply wants to ensure Max's safety. If Max does not return soon, the consequences could be dire. Felix races along the sidewalk, moving deeper into the city while calling out Max's name intermittently.

Felix: Max! MAX! Where are you?! PLEASE COME HERE!

The road is nearly deserted, with only a handful of cars passing, making it highly unlikely for Max to have been struck by a vehicle. Felix approaches an alley situated between two sizable buildings. Peering into the alley, he notices some tracks that he believes might belong to Max. Consequently, Felix resolves to search for Max in the alley. Following the tracks, he discovers they lead to a dead end and an open sewer hatch in the ground.

Felix: Oh... Oh no, no no... He couldn't have ventured down into the sewer... He couldn't have...

Felix calls out for Max, his voice echoing around him, but instead of a response, he is met with silence until he finally breaks down in tears. With each passing moment, Felix's hope of locating his brother begins to fade.

Felix: M-Max...

After hearing him cry, Max finally appears around the corner of the building. He runs towards Felix, shouting.

Max: Felix! Over here! I'm here!

Felix raises his head from the ground and turns to see the source of the shouting. He notices Max approaching him at a run. Max kneels beside him and opens his arms for an embrace. Felix returns the hug, burying his face in Max's fur as he begins to cry.

Felix: I thought you ran off to escape from me...

Max: W-what?! I was just hidden behind the bins in that opposite alley! I would never abandon you. Why would I even do that?!

Max pets his brother's back to calm him down.

Felix: Max, I really thought you were hit by a car, or something worse...

Max: It's my fault. Felix, I'm so sorry for making you worried... I didn't want this at all.

Felix: No, it's okay. You don't have to apologize. I understand that you just wanted to have some fun. I just got a little scared for you because you went further than I told you to. I honestly thought you wanted to just run away and go down into the sewer, but obviously I was wrong there. Speaking of which, why is the sewer open?

Max: How about we take a closer look and peek down?

Felix: Well, I don't think that's the best idea, but I am really curious about what's down there myself and why it's open...

Max and Felix carefully make their way toward the hole that descends into the sewer. Felix crouches to peer into the darkness below, where the sound of footsteps reverberates from the depths.

Max: Do you see anything?

Felix: Nope. But I can hear footsteps... Someone is coming!

Max and Felix begin to retreat as they hear the sound of someone ascending the ladder from the manhole. Felix starts to feel anxious.

Felix: Max, we should go.

Max: No, I wonder what or who it is...

Felix: Max, it's time to go! Seriously, c'mon!

Felix, filled with apprehension, seizes Max's paw and drags him several meters away, concerned for their safety. Out of nowhere, a tall, muscular fox with a menacing appearance and sunglasses emerges from the manhole. He casts a fierce glare at Felix and Max, who stand paralyzed with fear, uncertain of how to respond.

Blake: What the hell are these two kids doing here... I thought we had the perimeter secure... Wonderful. Well, hold on a second there.

The fox in suit approaches Max and Felix. In a state of fear, Max retreats behind Felix and murmurs softly.

Max: Felix, I'm scared...

Felix: I am too, but it'll be alright, Max.

The enigmatic fox halts before them, rising to an imposing height. He removes his sunglasses, exposing his almost luminescent red eyes. Lighting a cigarette, he inhales deeply and addresses them with a menacing voice.

Blake: So, what in the hell are you two doing here at this time of the night? Snooping around like you're some "super secret spies" or something. I'm trying to get a job done here, and you two decide to get in my way, interrupting me and catching me in the act. Are you two aware of the perilous, unpleasant consequences that may follow?

The suited fox takes another drag from his cigarette and exhales deeply.

Blake: I'm surprised you didn't run for your lives as soon as I popped up. I gotta say, you two kids have some guts. If we meet again, chances are, you won't have those guts anymore. Better pray that we never meet again. But if you two were to even attempt to expose me... let's just say that I'll show up again. But you two are smart enough to keep your muzzles shut about this, right? So what are you doing here anyway?

Felix: S-sir, we were just playing, and then we stumbled across the open manhole and found you. We didn't know anything about you or that you'd be here.

Blake: Really now? Well, you're only kids. But still, you better identify yourselves.

Felix: But can't you see how young we are? Do you think we could do much? That I would purposely risk our lives like this?!

Blake: Your names, this instant, or I'm going to force them out of you.

Felix: Uh, we're Felix and Max from the Ridgewood family...

Blake: Felix... and Max. You two are lousy vermin, you know that. Trembling in fear. It's cute to me, really.

Felix feels irritated by being referred to as Vermin, yet he restrains his anger to prevent further complications.

Blake: So, Felix and Max Ridgewood... I'll keep these names in mind. Remember, if I find out that you two are up to something like trying to expose me, I'll track you two down. No matter how far you go or how far you hide,.

Felix: I swear we have nothing to do with the police! We're just kids who strayed too far from the beach and stumbled across you just before we were going to go back home...

The menacing fox kneels down and stares into Felix's eyes with an ominous facial expression.

Blake: I can sense your fear, kid. You've got the same fear as the other kids that came face to face with me, just before their lives, let's say, faded. They were on my target list, and I gotta say, you two are lucky to still be alive. Now, do you have any idea who I am?

Felix is extremely stressed out, cold sweating while trying to communicate with the mysterious fox, thinking about hardly anything but keeping his brother behind his back. Felix quietens his breathing after hearing what the suspicious fox had said about his encounters with other children.

Felix: No, sir... We've never heard of you before...

The mysterious fox whispers something to Felix that no child would ever want to hear.

Blake: Felix. I am one of the most notorious and most fearsome hitmen in this accursed city. Do you understand why you're so lucky to be alive? I need you two to get out of my sight. Before I change my mind and obliterate you two! If you want to live, you'll want to back up and get as far from here as you possibly can. Just a little warning...

Felix begins to retreat alongside Max as the mysterious fox rises to its full height, seizing his suitcase and discarding his cigarette into the sewer, which is soon followed by a powerful explosion erupting from below.

Blake: RUN YOU PETTY FORLORN BRATS!

Max yells in terror as Felix clutches his paw firmly, and they flee together from the alley. The hitman cackles maniacally while climbing the fire escape of a nearby building, watching the two escape for their lives. Twenty minutes later, Max and Felix arrive home breathless and hurriedly rush to the porch, knocking frantically on the door. Moments later, their mother, Mrs. Ridgewood, swings the door open, visibly anxious about the safety of Felix and Max.

Mrs. Ridgewood: Felix! Max! Where have you two been?! I was so worried about you two...

She hugs them both, relieved.

Felix: Mom? Can we get through the door, please?

Mrs. Ridgewood: Of course. It's better off if we talk inside. Did you two see that enormous explosion?

The family enters the house, and Mr. Ridgewood rushes toward them, visibly relieved to see his sons unharmed and together.

Mr. Ridgewood: Are you guys alright? We heard a huge explosion near the city just a couple minutes ago. Mom was freaking out and really worried about you two. So was I. What took you two so long to get back?!

Mrs. Ridgewood: You even left a note on the kitchen counter saying that you two would be back before dark...

Felix: Sorry, mom and dad, we were playing at the beach and we didn't realize the time... We heard the explosion when we were heading back home, and we got really scared, so we ran back. Luckily, it wasn't near here. But, erm, excuse us, I think we'd need a quick shower upstairs to wash off the sand and calm down...

The ZPD has been notified of the explosion, and their sirens can be heard echoing through the city. Max ascends the stairs in silence and makes his way into the bathroom. A moment later, Felix rushes up and follows him into the bathroom.

Felix: Uh... Max, I'm so sorry that happened and ruined our day...

Max: I am never going to stay outside that late ever again. We could have been killed! Who the hell was that weirdo anyway??

Felix: I have no idea, Max, but get in the shower. We can't keep mom and dad waiting again, and we gotta have dinner soon...

Max lets out a sigh as he steps into the shower, gently ushering Felix out of the bathroom.

Max: I will. I can take care of myself in a shower at least... close the door behind you, please. I think I need a bit of alone time...

Felix exits the bathroom, closes the door firmly, and sinks down onto the floor, his expression troubled as he quietly murmurs to himself.

Felix: I've failed them. Mum, Dad... Max got in danger. We both were in danger... It's his first day with me, and we both could have been killed... It's all my fault...

Felix starts crying and leans his head against the wall.

Felix: It's... It's all my fault.

After a few minutes, the sound of the shower ceases. Max gets dressed and exits the bathroom, noticing Felix weeping against the wall. He approaches Felix and gently taps him on the shoulder.

Max: Hey, Felix... It's okay, Felix... We didn't get injured, did we? No! You see, that's like, the most important thing. We're alive, not even hurt! ...c'mon Felix, let's go have dinner...

Felix: Max, it's all my fault... I put you in danger... I should've protected you like I swore I would, but I let you get in danger instead. Not even a day has passed since we first met, and I've failed you! I've failed you, Max!

Max: Please stop with the crying Felix... It really hurts me to see you like this...

Max sits down next to Felix, snuggling and comforting him.

Max: Look... If anything, I'm the one who failed you. I wondered further than you told me to, and all I did back then was put both our lives in danger. I broke my promise to make your life even better, and look what I've done...

Max gently brushes Felix's fur with his paw.

Max: I've broken my own promise to you. But... let's try to shrug off today's events.

Felix hugs Max tightly and rests his chin on Max's shoulder.

Felix: I am so sorry. I love you, Max. I hope we will never have to experience anything like this anymore.

Max: Well, I'm still afraid of that weirdo who called me vermin... Look, I'm worried that he'll find and harm us. Do you think we should let our mom and dad and the police know about him?

Felix: He won't harm us. The city is big, and I doubt he'll ever find us again anyway. But yeah, we should definitely tell them...

Max: Why did you lie in the first place, though? Were you not ready to tell them? Because I hate when someone lies for no reason... Anyway, we need to go eat dinner.

Max descends directly to the kitchen, while Felix lets out a frustrated sigh before rising to join his brother. Before long, the entire family gathers around the dinner table, and everyone takes their seats.

Felix: Mom, dad, we have something else to tell you. We were heading home when a weird-looking fox came out of the sewer, and we almost got in danger.

Mr. Ridgewood: Oh dear...did he do anything to you?

Max: He called me a vermin...

Max responded with a cute frown.

Felix: Well, he asked us several questions, threatened, and insulted us! Then he threw a cigarette into the sewer, which resulted in a massive explosion. We were witnesses to everything...

Mrs. Ridgewood: We should contact the police as soon as possible!

Felix: Yeah, mom, dad, sorry for not telling you the complete truth before...

Mr. Ridgewood: Sometimes, telling the truth will make things much better than telling a lie. Thanks for letting us know. Do you guys remember his appearance? I hope you didn't think I would whoop your butts because of telling us the truth...

Felix: Nope, dad. And I think Max does remember...

Max: Well, uh... yeah. He wore a completely black suit, had gloves, and I think he had sunglasses. But the only thing I remember the most is that he looked so creepy and sinister, dad. I will never stay out this late ever again. I have even failed my brother completely...

Felix cuts him off...

Felix: Max! It's ME who failed you! I swore to always protect you, but I didn't protect you when you needed me the most...

Max: Bro! Please....stop... I should have been more careful... I am the one to blame here...

Felix: NO! Bro! Alright, we'll just leave it there. The past is past. We just have to tell the police about that suspicious guy, and it'll be alright. Uncle Nick will take care of him.

Max: Uncle Nick?

Mrs. Ridgewood: Yep, my brother, cutie. He is a high-ranking police officer at the ZPD. He will do everything in his power to detain criminals and make the world a better place for everyone.

Mr. Ridgewood: Yep, see guys? There's nothing to worry about. Everything will be resolved. Don't worry. Don't let the past destroy your future, kids. Keep living on and be happy. I am so relieved that you've come back in one piece. Please don't stay outside this late next time.

Felix: Yeah. Dad. We promise we won't stay out that late ever again.

The family starts their meal, engaging in a warm and meaningful conversation.

A few hours later...

The night is calm under a clear sky. The streets of Zootopia have quieted down, enveloped in tranquility following the explosion of the sewer orchestrated by Blake Thunder, a notorious and merciless hitman, for reasons that will be revealed later. Blake resides in a spacious cabin with his accomplice, Jack Savage, nestled near a mountain range and surrounded by dense forest, providing a secure and concealed hideout. This is where the duo strategizes and executes the orders of the local mafia known as The Golden Fang Clan, led by the nefarious Raphael Roarlington, a criminal mastermind obsessed with wealth. He is responsible for the deaths of countless animals who dared to oppose him, owed him debts, or refused to comply. Many of these victims met their end at the hands of Blake Thunder and Jack Savage, two of his most skilled assassins, who receive the highest pay for their services. Anyone who attempted to assassinate Raphael or betray him, including some of his own associates, faced immediate execution without mercy or negotiation. The mafia's location is shrouded in secrecy, with rumors suggesting they operate underground, somewhere beneath Savannah Central. Recently, Blake was nearly compelled to eliminate two innocent children to secure his position during a mission. Ultimately, he managed to intimidate them into submission, which was successful. However, Raphael would not be pleased with Blake's decision to spare Felix and Max, as this could lead to severe repercussions if he were discovered. Blake is determined to keep this incident under wraps, pretending he did not encounter any children or people. The mafia's primary objective is to maintain the utmost security and confidentiality of their operations.

The hour is late as Blake returns home in his Hummer, having completed a successful mission. He parks beside his cabin, exits the vehicle, and opens the trunk to retrieve the sizable briefcase he has earned. After closing the trunk and securing the car, he ascends the porch of the cabin and unlocks the door.

Blake: Bloody hell... Where are you, Snowflake?!

He enters the room and observes Jack meticulously cleaning his weapons on an expansive, elongated table.

Jack: Who are you calling Snowflake, mate?

Blake walks over to him, chuckling softly...

Blake: Guess who's back with some green sheets of paper! What a tiresome day. Another clan terminated, another payment received.

Blake places the briefcase on the table, unzips it, and exposes a substantial sum of money. He then starts to remove his suit.

Jack: Nice work, mate! It's a big sum of money worth spending on more arms and supplies needed to keep up the good work we're doing!

Blake: Jack, don't make me buy you a heap of carrots like last time...

Jack: Very funny, dude. I am not one of those carrot-digger rabbits from farms, you know?

Blake: I know, but admit it, you consumed every single carrot, and even rotten ones back then.

Jack sighs fiercely...

Jack: Back to the point, pal. How was your mission?

Blake: It was pretty satisfying and rewarding, and it was going pretty well until I stumbled across two little insects on my way out from the Zakota Clan's hideout.

Jack: Two insects on your way? Kids? What did they do?

Blake: They kept staring at me like idiots until I started questioning them about what the hell they were doing there. Why do kids nowadays have such irresponsible parents? They were so damn fortunate that I only kill victims, not innocents. They weren't on my "to kill" list, so I let them go, which was probably a huge mistake, plus, they were just children, and I can't stand killing kids, and I know if you were there with me you would've already killed them.

Jack is taken aback by what Blake has just revealed to him.

Jack: Look, it is better off to just scare them so that they run away quickly and don't remember much. Either way, they could give the cops real info about us, Blake. We have been in public undercover for years now just to get exposed by two kids. I hope you didn't reveal more info when you talked to them, especially stuff about yourself...

Blake unlocks his personal locker, which is stocked with ammunition and gear, and proceeds to place his suppressed Five-Seven pistols and his suit inside.

Blake: I know. Raphael mustn't know about this! Even if they told the cops some sensitive info about us, which I highly doubt they did because they have absolutely no evidence of us. I doubt they will track down our hideout because they know absolutely nothing about it or me... I mean, those immature brats didn't have any idea who I was. So we should be perfectly alright without worrying. But it's a shame that the cops have been alerted. This wasn't supposed to be a completely stealthy mission since Raphael ordered me to ambush the Zakota Clan and terminate them with a few of his men. Guess what? I was the only one to survive the shootout. Raphael's men need some serious training. So yeah, I placed gas cylinders all around the sewer in a straight line and blew them up to trigger a chain reaction. The Zakota Clan is gone! Their hideout is destroyed!

Jack: You really nailed this mission, even if it nearly got us into hot water! I can only imagine how Raphael would react if he found out you were spotted by two kids, so let's just hope you kept that little detail to yourself when you talked to him. Sometimes, lying to someone will more likely save you from dealing with a problem or something unpleasant.

Blake: No worries, partner. Raphael knows nothing about what happened apart from the clan being no longer in existence!

Blake takes a seat on a chair beside the table filled with weapons, observing Jack as he meticulously polishes each one.

Blake: Anyway, I asked them about their names. Do you know, Felix & Max Ridgewood? Do these names sound familiar to you?

Jack feels a surge of anxiety upon hearing the name of one of them.

Jack: Max...doesn't but FELIX?! I know him! He is a relative of Nick Wilde, you know, the police officer.

Blake rises from his seat and begins to pace the room anxiously, deeply contemplating his next course of action.

Blake: Snowflake, this gotta be a stupid joke...

Jack: Dude, trust me. Nick is the uncle of Felix Ridgewood, and that other guy whom I still don't know, I assume they must've recently adopted him... I am very serious, mate...

Blake: Adopted? Poor bastard. He must've had a miserable life until the Ridgewood family adopted him. Well, I think we'll be screwed in the end. Those kids are the relatives of our biggest adversary, Nick Wilde, the redoubtable police officer whom I need to exterminate as soon as possible!

Blake approaches the table and strikes it forcefully with his fist, expressing his frustration. Jack halts his weapon cleaning and turns his attention to Blake, watching him with concern.

Jack: God, Blake, calm down. Just what could go wrong, tell me?

Blake: I am quite frustrated that Raphael has yet to designate this individual for assassination. That fox has caused us so much inconvenience and trouble in the past...

Jack: Maybe he doesn't consider him a real threat...

Blake: Maybe! BUT! Do you know what the worst thing of all is? He was my classmate back in the days in school, which means no matter how much Felix has witnessed, he will let Nick know that he saw a strange-looking red fox carrying out an illegal job. Nick is not stupid. He will know what Felix is talking about. ME! Plus, if he tells him the fact that I threatened him and his little miserable brother, he will be right behind my ass in no time! He will do anything in his power to seize me and possibly kill me for his family's safety. Nick knows pretty well who I am.

Jack: You got plenty of news for me, mate. News I don't really love hearing about. We have to come up with a plan...

Blake: I'll think about it, Jack.

Blake begins to walk around the room again, being extremely nervous.

Blake: He knows my weak spots. He knows everything about me. He may not be a big threat to Raphael and his clan, but he is a major danger for us both! If I were to fight him, I am not very sure whether I would kill him. I would probably just survive with severe injuries and end up isolated in jail.

Jack: C'mon Blake, you are the most dexterous fox I know. You're excellent at hand-to-hand combat, and no one can intimidate you. You fear no one! You are the fear itself! Remember! I'll always stand by your side, partner. I'll be there for you to help you if anything goes wrong.

Blake: Thanks, pal! I appreciate it! So, what are you planning to do next?

Jack: Well, I don't clearly know where this is going, but we are going to get in serious trouble just because someone couldn't manage not to be seen by two kids. We must act quickly before it's too late!

Blake halts his steps, shuts his eyes, and embraces a profound silence.

Jack: So, what? Blake?

He clenches his fists and opens his eyes...

Blake: I WILL TAKE CARE OF THEM! PERSONALLY!

He said while growling ferociously...

Blake: So here's a summary of what we know about these rats. Their names are Felix & Max Ridgewood. They are the nephews of our biggest rival, Nicholas Wilde...and that's pretty much all we know, goddammit...we have no idea where these kids reside...

Jack: Well, Nick used to live in Sahara Square, but I got no idea where his family resides nowadays...

Blake rips a sheet from his notebook, inscribes the names Felix and Max, and labels it "to kill" before affixing it to a board cluttered with various plans and pictures of other people.

Blake: I'm planning to take care of those two troublemakers; regardless of what Raphael believes, I'm taking full responsibility for this. I will kill them both! We're in serious trouble right now. If they tell Nick Wilde about me, it could spell disaster for our criminal activities... It's incredibly embarrassing that I was seen by two kids at NIGHT. I really want to fix my mistakes. The older I get, the worse I seem to be at handling this job properly.

Jack: Blake, what the hell? They're just a pair of children! Killing them will only make things worse! They will know it was us. There's nothing we can do now. All thanks to you.

Jack settles onto the couch, his paws obscuring his face as he expresses his dissatisfaction with Blake's latest plan.

Blake: Don't be so hopeless, Jack. I know what I am doing! I am personally putting an end to these children. What if they have already told everything to the police about what they saw back on the streets?

Jack: THEY ARE CHILDREN! The only thing they're able to say is that they saw some creepy guy who threatened them!

Blake's perspective undergoes a significant transformation as the conversation about this issue progresses, leading to a decline in his mental state.

Blake: JACK SAVAGE! I WON'T SIT ON MY ASS AND WAIT TILL THE POLICE RAIDS US! And I don't care about children. I hate killing them, but since I lost my family ten years ago, I am nothing but a vengeful, ruthless, pathetic fox making a living by taking out people for money while doing the bidding of a power-hungry crime lord.

Blake sighs in anger and sits on a chair in front of Jack.

Jack: What's wrong with you? You are going to screw this up even more! You have no idea what you're doing! You're utterly losing your mind, Blake! This is not the solution... Your family would be extremely disappointed in you if they were alive...

Blake becomes completely agitated and begins to raise his voice at his partner.

Blake: WHO ARE YOU TO TELL ME WHAT TO DO AND HOW DO YOU DARE BRING UP MY DECEASED FAMILY AND SAY SUCH A THING, RABBIT?!

Jack: Jesus Christ, Blake! Calm down! Please! You are going to make this even worse if you kill them! That's what I am trying to say the entire time! I didn't mean to offend you by bringing up your family...

Blake calms down a bit...

Blake: Look, I might reconsider myself. But you better watch out for what you say. Do you know what it felt like to see my children die in my own paws?

Blake stares deeply into Jack's eyes from the chair.

Jack: Look, I've told you this numerous times. I am sorry about that. I wish it never happened to you, and, yeah, I fortunately don't know that feeling of losing your loved ones. I never EVER want to experience such a thing...

Blake: Because you got nobody except me, and it's not just that. Ever since my family died due to some thugs, I've lost my true purpose in life... I show no pity to others... Compassion has become my enemy. That's the problem. I am a merciless killer living for absolutely nothing but killing. You can't persuade me. No one can, even when you are one of my best friends. It doesn't work anymore. No one can influence my mind any more. All I want is to find out who did that and tear them apart with my bare hands! This is also why I joined this clan! So I can be strong enough, supported by someone who has a wide arsenal of weapons at disposal to help me find and exterminate the people responsible for the deaths of my family!

Jack: Look, I totally understand your point. But listen, you are Blake Thunder. You kill victims, not innocents, unlike other hitmen...remember? You promised to never touch any innocent people who aren't on your target list. This one doesn't count. You can't just pick and write down the names of innocent people all by yourself. We've both broken the regulations of the clan already. I am aware of the fact that you were supposed to wipe them out right at the time you encountered them. But you didn't do it. Why? Because there's still good in you, Blake, in your heart. The good side of Blake from 10 years ago still lives within you! So, please, don't do anything stupid and unnecessary. Just let it go...

Blake: Nice trying, pal. I don't listen to any nonsense anymore. You can't convince me. I'll just...go and sleep. I have a day off tomorrow, which means I will most likely spend the entire day searching for your acquaintances. But as I said, I might reconsider myself...

Jack: I hope you finally do reconsider yourself. Kill them, and Officer Wilde will dearly avenge them. You don't want to confront him, do you?

Blake growls in anger, standing up...

Blake: Then I shall finally eradicate that troublesome fox once and for all! I don't care how skilled he is; I WILL LITERALLY MASSACRE HIM AND HIS NEPHEWS! Only then will we be able to continue carrying out our jobs without any problems...

Jack rises from the couch, visibly distressed.

Jack: NO WAY! We are all going to end up dead for your mistakes! Come to your damn senses already! This is not the right thing to do, Blake!

Blake: I do not like the way you act, Jack. I want you to be supportive and, most importantly, act like a friend! Just get over it! We'll do this together! This is the best thing we can do to keep everything secured!

Jack: No! Can't you see that taking out those kids will only lead the police right to us? If you go after Felix, Nick will make sure to make an example of you! You claim you don't harm innocent children, yet here you are wanting to do just that! If your goal is to spill innocent blood, maybe you should have enlisted in the military instead! That would be a much more suitable role for you—eliminating those who truly deserve it! Terrorists! Do you understand?! We can't just go around killing people, no matter the situation!

Blake approaches Jack closely, fixing him with an intense and fierce gaze.

Blake: YOU MORON! I was in the army ten years ago, but I retired after they killed my wife and kids! I would gladly avenge my family by killing terrorists instead of wasting my meaningless life by killing people for money! One more thing. By killing Felix and Max, I take responsibility for the consequences, and who cares if I die? I have no reason to live anyway, and you? That's your problem! If you really want, go, resign, abandon me, and die! There's no way to escape! Destiny still arrives!!! And this just proves you know shit about me! How pathetic! Now get the hell outta here!

Blake points at the entrance door...

Blake: The door is open for you. Leave!

Jack: I'm not going anywhere just because some confused fool has lost their sanity!

Jack tries to throw a punch at Blake, but Blake swiftly avoids it and counters with a kick to Jack's stomach, causing him to stumble back onto the couch.

Blake: What do you think you're up to? Are you really going to turn your back on me? How could you betray me like this?

Jack groans in discomfort, clutching his stomach on the couch, as Blake takes hold of his ears, lifting him off the ground and shaking him vigorously.

Blake: I truly regret the moment I let you move into this cabin after your family turned you away! You've shown such a lack of honor and gratitude! Please don't even think about asking for forgiveness! You seem to overlook everything I've done for you! Without my help, you would have been lost and homeless on the streets. I gave you a chance to work as a hitman, brought you into the clan, and yet you treat me like I'm some kind of fool! Why is that? I believed in you! I thought we could build something together without it coming to this!

Jack: Please stop Blake. You are overreacting.

Blake seizes Jack by the neck and begins to strangle him.

Jack: Please! G-give.... m-me.....o-one....m-more....c-chance.....I....still.....care.....a-about.....y-you…

Blake hurls Jack across the room, and he crashes to the floor near the entrance door, struggling to breathe, coughing, and groaning in discomfort.

Blake: Get.....out.....of.....my....sight...

Jack: I'm really disappointed in you.

Blake throws him a gun...

Blake: There is something to protect yourself in the outer world. You're done living with me inside this cabin!

Jack struggles to his feet and quickly grabs the gun.

Jack: Blake, what were you thinking? This is just unbelievable! How could you treat your best friend like this?

Blake: I just taught you a damn lesson. This is what you get for turning against me! Get out of here! You are seemingly allied with Nick Wilde, trying to protect those pesky kids. Leave!

Jack: BLAKE! For the love of God! I am not trying to defend Nick Wilde or his nephews... I just wanted to keep us both safe by persuading you to not kill any of them! They are innocents! REMEMBER?! You are a liar! You are not the Blake I knew before. You are a monster killing innocents for pleasure and money!

Blake gradually moves closer to Jack, his breathing heavy and deliberate. Without a moment's pause, Jack points the gun at his "friend."

Jack: Please! Blake! Back off! Don't make me shoot you! You have become a threat! You lost it! You lost your true self!

Blake: I did not lose anything. C'mon shoot me and be free doing whatever the heck you want! Save yourself from this misery!

Jack continues to point his gun at Blake, his hands trembling and beads of sweat forming from the pressure of the moment.

Jack: Please! Don't make me do this! Bro.....

Blake moves in closer to Jack, who is visibly shaken and contemplating whether to pull the trigger. With deliberate care, Blake places his paw on the gun to steady its tremors.

Jack: B-B-Blake.....

Blake puts the gun against his head.

Blake: Pull...the....trigger....

Jack:.....I....can't....

Blake gazes at Jack, his eyes filled with tears. Overwhelmed, Jack relinquishes the gun, dropping it before collapsing to Blake's knees.

Jack: What did I do wrong?

Blake: You're weak. You shouldn't have treated me with compassion. You're not a true hitman, unlike me. You can still walk on the good path and become a loving bunny, among others. You have what it takes to change! Change starts with you...

Jack: Blake, what about you? Let's start living a completely new life. It's not late. You can still change. I have a strong faith in your future...

Blake: I've died ten years ago already...

Jack: What do you mean?

Blake: I am not the Blake I used to be. The good side of me, my soul, has vanished along with my family. All that's left of me is my physical side, which is in tremendous pain, suffering from the past, from my mistakes, from my loss. The past cannot be undone. I am nothing but a ruthless killing machine with the intention to inflict harm on others and to seek those murderers. You see, I have some serious mental issues. You almost ended up dead... I've lost it...

Blake gives Jack his paw and pulls him up...

Jack: Thanks, Blake. Please don't do anything stupid anymore. Am I kicked out or... not?

Blake: You may stay. This wasn't your fault after all. I couldn't control my behavior. I just need space for now...

Jack: You... you aren't going to kill me either?

Blake exhales deeply, turns around, and begins to make his way to his bedroom.

Blake: Why should I? I don't kill innocents, only victims, right?!

He arrives at the bedroom door, opens it, steps inside, and is once more interrupted by Jack from behind.

Jack: If you don't mind me asking you, how about Felix and Max?

Blake holds the door with one paw while staring at Jack.

Blake: I don't care about them anymore...

Jack: Okay, see, there's nothing to worry about. The police have no info about our whereabouts. You won't need to confront your nemesis, after all.

Blake casts an unimpressed glance at Jack before closing the door firmly.

Jack: Okay, then.....phew.....that...was.....intense.....

Jack resumes his routine by settling onto the couch and organizing the weapons laid out on the table. Following a heated discussion with Blake, the atmosphere has returned to a semblance of normalcy, but the question remains: for how long will this last?
