People all over the city were leaving, one after the other, families and friends together and even the strangers that haven't seen each other in L.A. And if it wouldn't be for the situation that they were in, it would have been a one in a million chance for them to meet.
As they just carried with them, their lives and dear one's. The others that were yet to marry helped those with kids so that they could move faster and get the hell out of there.
It was best for everyone to decide on fleeing the city. It was a tragedy that had befallen on them. And just like what Robert Kennedy once said, that tragedy is a tool for the living to gain wisdom, not a guide by which to live.
Just for the few that were injured in the attack, others were also helping them and it seems like they were one big family.
It was a sight to behold as it seemed that the tragedy has brought the people together. They were bonded with something that no one knew what it was but all the same they were happy for the outcome.
As all of these events happened one after another, I was casually walking in a certain direction while being cautious of my environment.
I was there, but at the same time it was like I wasn't. It was weird as I felt that my body was in some kind an automatic drive. A kind of motion that I had no control over whatsoever.
As time went by, I gave in to the force that was holding on to me and I accepted my fate while I enjoyed the ride.
My senses were there, just working in the background as I couldn't help in anything even if my sixth sense screamed at me that I was in danger.
I was thankful as the one who was inhibiting my body currently, was in all sense aware of my needs and wants and made sure that they satisfied them to a certain extent.
As I was still on the move, I came upon a building that just looked awkward with how it was. I knew what happened to it but what caught my attention was the sound of a wailing mother that was probably digging up trying to find something beneath the remains of the building.
Looking up to the remaining part of the building that was seen to be steady, an elderly woman holding a small boy in her hands was sobbing and it made my heart tighten as I clenched my fists in anger.
I stopped as I turned to look at the situation that left me with strange feelings. Considering that almost three quarters of the people in Los Angeles have already left, seeing the scene infront of me made my heart move and I couldn't help but try to fight the force that was holding me down that I couldn't even speak.
[What you feel is normal, but what has happened to them doesn't concern you in the slightest.]
'Finally.., you are in my body so for once just listen to me... and I wish to help them.'
[Okay... but don't regret it in the near future.]
'I swear... wholeheartedly that I won't.'
In the next instance, I gained control over my body. It felt awesome! I stood there to savour the feeling and it seemed like an eternity but in the real sense of things, it just took a few seconds.
I climbed up to meet the woman that was so desperately still consumed in digging with her hands.
Once I had a view at her visage, my heart clenched as a familiar feeling swept over me. It pained so much to see her in that state.
Her nails were broken and bleeding though it looked like she couldn't even feel anything as she so obsessed with one thing. Her fingers and palms on the other hand, they looked like they have been grazed as they were covered in blood.
Within the minute that I stood their, she didn't even realize that I was there.
I reached out my hand and cupped her face before lifting her up to look into mine. When she saw me, it was like she found a new strength as she used my hands for support to hold herself while mumbling something between sobs.
I embraced her as she continued to mumble that her daughter was still buried beneath us.
"It's okay... we'll get her out, but first we have to get the others down as I fear if we start digging the remaining building will crumble onto itself." I comforted her as I pointed to the other two people on the second floor of the house with no way of getting down.
The woman protested and I decided to let her be. I held out my hands to the elderly woman and she dropped the boy on my arms after some consideration. It was a fact to say that at this time, she trusted that I wouldn't drop the boy.
Once they were all down, I forcefully dragged the woman down as I thought of a way to help her so called daughter.
At that instance, there were so many possibilities that were depressing just to have them cross my mind. It was possible that her daughter was already in a minced state but the problem was how I was gonna convince the lady to leave and save the rest of her family.
The other thing was that even if she was somehow miraculously still alive, how was I gonna dig her out with my hands. It would take several hours in the least and given the fact that I was trying to get to a safer place too, I couldn't help but regret my decision to help them.
As I was still in deep thought, a voice resounded in my head.
[I can help you young simian... but I'll need something in return.] The voice said.
'What will you need from me?' I asked in my head though I felt like the price for helping me would be something much greater than anything. And also, I had to confirm what was happening in my own head as not all the people could hear voices in their heads unless they were insane.
It was simple, I accept to whatever demand the voice would ask for in return and observe if it'll even help out or it was just spouting nonsense.
[Cooperation.] The voice answered and it made me think that it was playing games with me again.
'Cooperation?.. Only that?' I asked in confusion as I thought that it would be something that would take me down to the underworld and back.
With that in the open, I left the lady and walked a few steps ahead before raising my hands.
It wasn't like I was the one raising my hands. It was the other way around. As soon as I accepted the demand, I was shoved into the back of whatever that was with no control whatsoever over my body.
I could swear that I made the wrong decision as I was so happy to be in control again, but it didn't last as the voice took over again.
As the seconds ticked by, the most unimaginable thing to ever be witnessed happened.
The rubble that had formed after the building was hit started to shake. It was first the low kind that made the people who were watching to how absurd and ridiculous I was acting out, to shake it off as the vibrations that were brought about by the disastrous consequences the city was going through.
But in the next moment, their mouths fell wide open as they couldn't fathom what was happening.
From the smallest specs of dust particles to the large rocks that were the size of a grown man. All seemed to be possessed by some kind of force that no naked eye could see.
The rubble started to accumulate at a noteworthy speed as if it were running from something wicked.
As the process continued, I walked through the gap that formed. I was headed towards a particular spot that was in its own, producing a similar energy.
A freezer came into view as the rubble continued to clear itself away from my path.
The freezer was buttered to resemble a shapeless object. With a wave of my hand, the upper side of it made a deafening sound as it gave in and floated away to where the the rubble was accumulating.
Inside the freezer on top of all those different beverages, a near lifeless body was crouched with ice particles covering her whole body.
Upon seeing her in that state, I cursed myself as the body rose slowly coming to my outstretched arms upon my command.
...
In an empty building near Max, a group of people were observing the situation down below from the third floor.
Among them was a beautiful formidable lady that was after him all day. Kai looked fit for anything to come even though she has been running from one place to another for several hours now. She looked like nothing has happened to her but the black eye bags betrayed her.
Upon seeing what Max was doing, her mind went blank as she searched for a reason as to why everything that she was witnessing were a thousand times off from what they had expected from a mortal civilization.
"I am afraid that we have a bigger problem than we thought. We need to find a way to leave this place as soon as possible." Kai said as she kept thinking of only one possibility which remained to confirm her suspicion.
'A different life form.' And with that, they turned the other way around and left.
