Air Foray

Thousands of miles away from Los Angeles, Ailah was giving out orders while checking the large screen infront of her.

It was at this time that Ailah was a bit fearful. Her visage was filled with terror as she watched the first batch of missiles detach from the drones.

It was the first time that they would be using that kind of power and technology since they set foot on earth. Their gnome engineers have been working in mass production of different kinds of weapons that could at least resemble the ones from the blueprints that they had obtained.

The gnomes had faith in their creation but just like every piece of machinery to be produced, one had to take it into a taste drive so as to confirm their potential and limits. But due to staying low key and praying that they aren't discovered by the world, every piece of machinery and weapon that they made had to be kept locked up in vaults and wait for the day that they would be needed.

That day was today but Ailah seemed to be sweating profusely due to that fact.

Yes, the missiles were already on their way to the target areas but will they be intercepted or will they unleash their might and destroy their enemies.

On her right side, a gorgeous lady was also watching the screen as the battle continued.

She was giving orders and marking out the places that were a priority to be hit so as to increase their potential in completing their objective and also deal a devastating blow to the soldiers.

But nothing looks as it seems as the missiles that were still in mid air started to explode and creating explosions in the dark night.

As Ailah saw that even if they couldn't win in destroying the temporary coastal encampment that the soldiers were using, they would have kept them busy enough to execute their rescue mission for Director Kai and the others.

She looked back after someone called her. Just behind her, another team of warriors from her world were neatly standing in two rows with their weapons strapped on their bodies.

"This is a low key mission. You have one objective in this mission. Find the Guardian and our brothers, then come back." Ailah said as she looked at the warriors infront of her.

All the people stopped and turned to see what was happening. Nobody knew anything about this and they were shocked but couldn't voice out their worries out loud.

After she finished talking with them, she opened a wormhole just infront of them with a small hand gesture and her warriors crossed through to the other side.

Everyone else was left speechless and a new kind of fear for their boss arose in them making all of them tremble to the core.

...

On the coast of California where a fleet of ships was roaming the near deep sea, was almost immediately covered with all kinds of defensive weapons as they were unleashed in time to tackle the missiles heading straight for the TOC.

Swoosh!

Swoosh!

Every kind of a bullets from 20mm to 30mm were fired by the automatic turrets leaving behind a dotted yellow line of burning bullets in the dark night.

Though it was cold in the ocean given that the wind waves that passed through were cold enough to make someone shiver. The situation turned grave as the petrified soldiers awoke from their slumber to reload the turrets.

Soon enough defeaning sounds of different kinds of infra-red homing surface-to-air missiles such as the stinger and flare missiles that detonated at a certain height burning with intense heat causing so many enemy missiles to explode upon being exposed to them.

Although not all of the drone missiles were intercepted, many still reached their destination. The others that were still on their trajectory, burned everything to crisps upon contact as they exploded outwards.

And this was enough to turn the TOC upside down in a matter of seconds.

Large amount of smoke and debris erupted as if fanned from the centre. The soldiers that were caught up in the middle, well... May their souls rest in peace. As there was no coming back from that.

In the minute since the start, there was no telling who will emerge victorious in the end. Given that the US military was caught off guard, still they coordinated with vigor and precision as the threat was still there.

The drones were still reloading so as to start their second attack, but that time was enough to allow the amphibious assault ships and carriers to get all the remaining fighter jets and helicopters in the air for a battle to claim air superiority.

Everyone else in L.A was shocked by what just happened. They have been terrified a long time ago by what was happening until they took out their weapons and started to fight for what they believed in.

But after this incident, the civilians started to ask themselves questions that made their hearts tremble by the thought of it.

Dread clouded their judgements as they opted for the blockades indicating that they weren't ready to die for something they didn't believe in.

The soldiers after seeing this, didn't do anything to stop them from leaving the city as they themselves were in utter disbelief. How could they fight such a monster.

Their higher ups were not answering their calls and the highest ranking remaining official took over the command channel and ordered all forces to cease fire and concentrate it to the skies where the real enemy was.

The Admiral was heart broken for what happened to the TOC. And he promised to do whatever it took to bring the drones down for he feared that they won't stop just there. Their second objective would be the fleet as it was the last fort remaining that could organize the ground and air forces for an attack.

With that he ordered all channels be opened but static interferance be maintained in the channels from the ones from Washington DC. As he was the sole highest ranking official in the scene, the others just followed his orders even so thinking that they were the right ones considering the situation that they were in.

After a round of immediate planning and organizing, the air forces together with the ground forces started a new wave of attacks all directed on the cluster of drones.

A series of attacks followed by and were threatening enough but what happened next was so mind blowing that left all those that were witnessing the scene to curse loudly.

Just like how the drones appeared out of the blue, that no one could process how they came to be where they were. And making everyone concentrate on the first wave of attack pulling their focus out of the real problem.

And at the time when the US forces unleashed their counterattack, the targets were nowhere to be seen or detected. They just vanished in mid air making the Admiral tense from the occurrences.

...

On the other side of the city, a cluster of heavy helos was roaming on a certain part totally unconcerned with the battle that was still ongoing.

On the ground below, the soldiers from the Tower were walking on the demolished buildings headed to a certain direction. They were guided through by a satellite footage that was recorded awhile ago.

They stopped when their Commander received news of a greater electromagnetic disturbance. Upon seeing the location on the gadget, she couldn't help it and commanded her people to keep a close watch on the heat signatures that were emerging from the distorted electromagnetic waves.

"A wormhole!?" The lady exclaimed and started seeing the world from a different view.

They continued with their search and soon their search bore some fruits as they did found traces of what looked like their target passed through there at a certain time. They saw some packed food containers that were left open after someone who seemed hungry enough to only eat a few spoons from each container and leave the rest on the tiles.

Upon looking through the scattered containers in order to understand more of what could help them, they found a melting ice cream that seemed to be left open for less than twenty minutes as it had not melted completely.

"We are close. Move ahead with caution... Target is well trained and can read people out in a second and conclude what you are there for in the blink of an eye. That's why he's been slipping through the hands of the government since they found him." The commander told her men and warned them to be extra careful.

She added that Max had unconcluded business in L.A and they had to act fast so that they could get to him before he vanishes. Or the next possible thing was to find out what was still keeping him in the city.

With that, the Tyrannical Tower increased their efforts and as well as their proficiency and vigilance in the search.
