Chapter 18: hidden trouble.

All the immortal devil pond energy was gushing inside the whirlpool above Kai's head. He tried to stand up, but he had no control over his body. The disturbance became bigger and bigger until it disturbed the ten core disciples. They realized that they were not able to draw in any energy inside their bodies; all the energy was escaping their control and running in another direction.

They all opened their eyes and stood up to see Kai absorbing a huge amount of energy. They all became angry, and some of them started growing hatred toward Kai, while others were curious about the secret Kai used to control such a huge amount of energy.

"You bastard, you better stop the technique you are using now". Someone among the disciples shouted at Kai. He was the strongest among the whole group; he had a chiseled face with a slight body figure; he was tall, with dark short hair and light brown narrow eyes; and he looked vicious with his demonic appearance.

Kai didn't know how to explain to his seniors that he doesn't have control over his techniques, so he ended up ignoring their angry expressions by closing his eyes and focusing on finding a way to stop the situation.

However, his actions angered the core disciples, and some of them already marked Kai as prey in their minds for ignoring them. They will have rushed towards Kai at first, but they realize that they couldn't get close to him because of the chaotic flow of energy.

So they all returned to their positions to keep doing their best to absorb the energy. Except the demonic girl with a petite appearance who had a smile on her face, all the remaining core members were filled with anger towards Kai.

They started forcing the energies into their bodies, doing their best to absorb as much as they could before time ran out.

However, they could only do so much since all the energy was given to Kai willingly. This goes on for another day, and finally Kai's absorption slows down.

Realizing that everything was calm and Kai was not disturbing the energy anymore, they all started absorbing faster, but time was up, and they were all transported out of the pool before they knew it.

Immediately they came out of the pool, everybody had a depressing expression on their face; they all looked at Kai with hatred, except for the petite demonic girl who had curiosity written all over her face.

The core elder was curious about why everybody has such depressed expressions on their faces, so one of them asked. "What happened to all of you in there? Why do you all have such expressions on you".

"Elder Yun, it was this young man who used a secret technique to cause a great disturbance in the pool, and this disturbance slowed down our absorbing process while he took the whole energy for himself". One of the core members replied:

"Huh?" The elders couldn't believe what they were hearing: "Gu Yan, did you hit your head with something so hard that you don't know what you are thinking? Someone with a peak stage in the mortal realm absorbed energy faster than all of you who were in the immortal realm?"Elder Yun asked with a cold tone that sent shivers down the spine of the young man named Gu Yan.

"My apology, Elder Yun, I must be wrong". I must be wrong. He quickly apologized with a shivering tone, but he gnashed his teeth together in anger, and more hatred was directed at Kai.

Kai could feel the sharp gaze of all the members on him, and he knew he had found himself in more trouble. He sighed helplessly in his mind because he had enough trouble on him already and now more trouble is here.

Elder Yun and the second core elder recalled the golden token back, and immediately the portal leading inside the pool closed up.

Then elder Liu informed Kai that it was time to leave before bowing to the core elder and turning to leave. Kai also bowed to the core elder and followed behind elder Liu, but he knew things would not just end here.

However, before Kai could walk further away, he saw someone calling out for him from behind, so he halted his footstep and turned back. He saw the petite girl running towards him, and he became curious.

Upon arriving in front of Kai, the petite girl pouted at him before she threw a simple punch at Kai's shoulder. Her fist was small but strong. Kai did not feel any strength or malice from this fist, so he did not bother dodging it.

"Bad boy, look at how much trouble you've caused yourself; others won't let you off easily, especially Gu Chen." I just want to warn you to be Careful out there because Gu Chen had a lot of inner disciples working for him, so they might find trouble with you". She spoke to Kai in a worried tone.

Hearing the worried tone, Kai felt warmth in his heart, even though he had no idea what this cunning devilish girl was up to, but he could feel ill intention from her.

"I don't know that big sister will be worried for me, hehe, but you don't have to worry. I don't think there is anyone who can beat me in the inner sect. But thank you". Kai replied with a calm tone, which made the girl blush a little, but then she pouted and stamped her leg on the ground before walking away from Kai without saying anything further.

Kai became confused again upon seeing her reaction; he couldn't help but wonder if this girl had a mental illness. Sometimes she will be kind; other times she will be angry and stomp off. He shook his head helplessly; however, before he could turn back to walk away, he heard her voice again.

"Bad boy, my name is Xin Yi, so don't call me big sister again, or else I will have to beat all your teeth out of your mouth". She said this before she ran off.

Kai didn't know if he should laugh or cry after hearing this from the demonic girl, so he shook his head again with a helpless sigh before walking off.

Kai and elder Liu climb on the back of the demonic vulture that brought them to the core zone before heading back to the direction they came from.

It only took them twenty minutes to return to the inner courtyard; once they arrived, Kai separated from elder Liu, heading directly to Xieling courtyard.

When he got back to the courtyard, he couldn't find Xieling, so Kai proceeded to his own room. Upon getting inside, he found food prepared for him, and he devoured the food without thinking much.

Kai then went to the training ground and started practicing his saber art. He spent five hours practicing his saber art. He was so lost in the practice that he did not know when Xieling arrived behind him.

After Kai was done, he decided to go clean himself in the room, but when he turned back, he saw Elder Xieling sitting on the stone bench close to the ponds.

Kai immediately got close to her. "Hello, elder Xieling, when I got back, I checked on you, but you were not around". He said this when he got closer to her.

"Yes, I went to get something done, and I can see you've benefited a lot from the immortal devil ponds", Xieling said to Kai with an expressionless tone.

"Elder Xieling must be joking; my improvement is nothing compared to the monsters in the core zone of the sect". he said

"You don't have to be worried about them; you are you, and they are who they are. As long as you keep walking your path, you will one day achieve greater feats than them". Elder Xieling replied.

Suddenly Xieling looked at Kai with a mysterious gaze and said, Kai, I want you to prepare yourself; tomorrow I will be taking you on a training trip so that you can refine your battle experience and saber art better". She said.

Kai nodded his head in approval, but then he was curious about something, so he decided to ask. "Elder Xieling, if you don't mind, I have two things to ask you." He said it in a very calm and respectful tone.

Xieling looked at Kai for a while, saying, "Go ahead". She said it with a smile, like she had predicted what Kai was going to ask.

"Elder Xieling, you are a core elder, right?"

"Yes, I already told you that before, so why bother asking again".

"Nothing; I'm just wondering why you never live in the core zone courtyards, since that place had much more cultivation resources than the inner zone". Kai said while massaging his temple.

"Sigh. That's a long story, but I prefer it here in the inner zone. Kai, the core zone is much more complicated than you think. I won't say much to you about it, but I'm sure you will get to know it much better when the time comes. Xieling explained in a depressing tone.
