Important Message

Yu Feng woke up early in the morning and laid down on her bed for a long time. There were sounds of movement coming from the outside. The rooster crowing was heard and then some footsteps. Even so, Yu Feng did not move at all and continued to stay on the hard bed for a long time in a daze. Her eyes were glued to the ceiling as various thought came to her mind all at once.

It has been two days since she was released by Officer Zhou Ming. According to that man, he was going to look for her again a day before the festival, but being in the dilapidated hut without Orange was… lonely.

The sound of a cat meowing outside the hut finally snapped Yu Feng out of her thought. She sat up immediately to listen to the sound again and Her expression changed upon hearing the second time the cat meowed.

This was not the sound of Orange.

A disappointed look crossed her face before she finally stood up and walked out of the small hut.

Small kids were seen running around the street, playing around while most of the adults has gone out to look for something to eat.

At her feet, a black cat tilted her head up to look at Yu Feng. She blinked her eyes with a pitiful look and Yu Feng squatted down to pat the black cat on the head.

"Are you looking for Orange?"

The black cat closed her eyes in bliss when Yu Feng scratched her on the neck.

"Orange will not be back until next week. If you want to meet him you should wait and come again after the lantern festival is over." A helpless smile curved on her lips. "What is it? Did you miss him?"

Meow.

"Well, I miss him too." Yu Feng let out a long sigh.

For most people, it might seem strange how Yu Feng was attached to Orange. After all, Orange was merely a cat, but Yu Feng had treated him like her own family.

Not too long ago, Yu Feng has saved Orange after he was bullied by those boys. He was taken back to the dilapidated hut and Yu Feng had nursed him back to health and since then, the cat has grown attached to Yu Feng. Being alone in this big city for too long, Yu Feng gradually grew accustomed to having the cat beside him. Soon, the orange cat grew important to her and he had become her only family.

To have him missing by her side for a few days felt very strange to Yu Feng.

Meow.

The black cat meowed again.

Yu Feng stood up, went inside the house, and took out a few pieces of small dried fishes. "You can have them for today since Orange is not at home," Yu Feng spoke to the black cat.

A gentle smile tilted on Yu Feng's lips as she watched the cat munched on the treat.

Suddenly, her ears caught the loud sound of the drum. Yu Feng stood up swiftly and tilted her head up towards the direction of the main tower. Although she could not see the tower from her location, Yu Feng was aware that this sound came from the main tower.

Her brow furrowed at the thought that something had happened in the city.

As the thought crossed her mind, Yu Feng caught a yellow flare on the corner of her eyes. Her mind quickly figured out the sign.

Yellow meant danger.

The frown on her face deepened.

"It seemed that something is happening in the city."

A voice came from behind her. Turning around, Yu Feng saw that it was the grandmother who lived next door. The frown on her face disappeared and Yu Feng flashed a smile at the old lady and did not comment.

The old lady's gaze fell on the black cat. "Xiao Feng, your cat Orange has not returned?" Her expression softened when she noticed the look on Yu Feng's face.

"Orange just went out to play." Yu Feng lowered her gaze. "He should return in a few days."

The clatter of the horse's hoof was heard coming from a distance away. Soon, a black horse came over to them and stopped just before they reached Yu Feng's hut.

"Young man," the elderly lady greeted. "Are you looking for someone?"

Yu Feng and the older grandmother lived in an impoverished area deep in the city. It was rare to see anyone riding a horse in this area.

A rider with his face half-covered with black clothes jumped off the horse. He walked over to the women and took off the clothes around his face, revealing his handsome face. This man was no other than Officer Zhou's guard, Wen Ping."

The man's gaze stayed on the old lady for a few seconds before it shifted to Yu Feng. "Are you Xiao Feng?"

Yu Feng stared at the man with wary. Her gaze moved from his head to toe, scrutinizing him. Then, she nodded. "I am Xiao Feng." A languid smile tilted up on her lips. "Who are you and why are you looking for me?"

Wen Ping's eyes turned serious. "Officer Zhou sent me here to look for you. He needs your help. Can you spare a while to talk?"

The old lady looked at the rider and Yu Feng alternately. "Then, this old lady will give the two of you some space." She nodded towards the rider before she retreated to her hut.

It doesn't matter if she was familiar with Yu Feng. Seeing the flicker in the man's eyes, the old lady thought that it would be best if she left. After living in the city for years, the old lady knew better that there are certain things that she should not get involved with.

Both Yu Feng and the man watched as the grandma left the scene. Then, Yu Feng turned her head back at the man.

"Officer Zhou said that he will come to look for me a day before the festival." Yu Feng crossed her arms on her chest. "Isn't today is too early for you to look for me?"

"Officer Zhou Ming needed you to send this letter to Lord Yi," Wen Ping said. He fished into his garment and pulled out a white envelope from his waist.

"Lord Yi?"

A strange look flickered on Wen Ping's face for a second before it disappeared. "It was the man who caught you a few days ago."

Yu Feng's expression changed at the mention of her cat abductor.

"This is not what we have agreed on."

"Officer Zhou had mentioned that you might say that. But, something is happening in the city," Wen Ping spoke. "According to Officer Zhou, at this time only you will be able to deliver this letter to Lord Yi. Moreover," he paused and a look of hesitation crossed his face. "Officer Zhou said that if you deliver this message successfully, you might be able to meet your cat."
