The unbearable sounds finally got to Daisy, causing her to bend over and retch. The two boys beside her were trembling, unsure of what to say or do.
More retching sounds echoed in the theater.
In Long Island, the retching seemed contagious. Many around Louis Gonzalez were experiencing discomfort but couldn't tear their eyes away from the screen, where they witnessed the doctor sawing off his own leg!
The doctor crawled to the corpse, picked up a pistol, checked the bullets, and then aimed at the cameraman.
Following the orders of the real mastermind behind the scenes, he shot the cameraman, experiencing the agony of taking a life once again...
At a theater near Columbia University, the screening was slightly delayed. Kara Farris closed her eyes, unable to bear watching such scenes anymore. She admitted to being scared too. She pondered how to settle the score with Murphy, that bastard, once her over half-year-long training ended.
"Help! Help! Help..."
A woman's cry for help suddenly rang out, not from the movie, but from the front row. Kara Farris opened her eyes and saw a young black girl, about twenty years old, loudly calling for help from the middle-aged man sitting next to her.
Only the two of them occupied the front row. The middle-aged man slouched in his seat, eyes rolled back, showing only the whites, with drool dribbling from his mouth.
"What's wrong with him?"
Some concerned people jumped to their row. "What's going on?"
The black girl struggled to speak, "He was scared when he saw the leg being sawed off just now."
The focus quickly shifted to their row. Others forgot about the struggles of the characters in the movie and turned to look. Some even approached.
One middle-aged woman, likely knowledgeable in nursing, went over to check the man and reassured, "It's okay, it's okay, just a fright."
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief.
However, Kara Farris felt somewhat regretful. She hadn't brought her camera and missed such a good piece of news.
Glancing again, she suddenly realized that the frightened man seemed to be a professor from Columbia University.
Several people surrounded the professor, following the instructions of the middle-aged woman. Some lifted his legs, some fanned him, and others attended to him. The unconscious professor made a strange noise, his eyes no longer completely white, and his initially twisted face gradually returned to normal.
"Damn!"
Several people around the professor occasionally glanced at the screen. One of them suddenly said, "The killer isn't the nurse."
Others immediately forgot about the professor and turned to the screen. Due to the earlier misdirection, they all thought the nurse was the real killer, but the ending was different...
The cameraman found a video camera on the dead nurse. Pressing play, "Hello, Mr. Hinde, also known as Sap in the hospital, I have a choice for you."
This voice had appeared several times before, and everyone knew it was the voice of Jigsaw, which meant the nurse wasn't Jigsaw!
He wasn't the mastermind behind the scenes.
Everyone stared at the screen, watching flashback after flashback, trying to find answers.
"You have *** in your body, and only I have the antidote. Are you willing to kill a mother and daughter to save yourself? If so, the rules of the game are as follows..."
He was also Jigsaw's subject!
Who could it be? Who could it be? Daisy anxiously scratched her head.
Not him? Louis Gonzalez hastily recalled each major character. The doctor sawed off his leg, the nurse died, the police officer died, who else?
Could it really be Amanda, the girl? But it didn't seem like her...
Just as everyone was speculating about the true mastermind, a person slowly crawled up from behind the cameraman. He tore off the disguise covering his head, awakening like a god from slumber, opening his eyes!
The corpse in the middle was Jigsaw! Louis Gonzalez sat on the chair in shock, almost forgetting to breathe!
The corpse in the middle was Jigsaw! The skinny black man and the chubby white man clenched their fists tightly, blurting out words!
The corpse in the middle was Jigsaw! Daisy unconsciously hugged herself, suddenly feeling very cold!
The corpse in the middle was Jigsaw! Kara Farris looked at the screen, unable to hide her astonishment!
The corpse in the middle was Jigsaw! All the audience members were stunned by this ending!
How could this be possible? This was their reaction!
Scenes from the movie began to flash back, leaving enough clues. How could this not be possible? Clearly, they hadn't thought of it!
"He enjoys watching his twisted games up close!"
Someone suddenly exclaimed loudly, "The movie actually told us the answer long ago!"
"Get out of the way!" Another voice behind him said, "Move aside quickly, you're blocking me."
A large hand reached out, disregarding the person who had just helped him, and pushed him aside. Eyes fixed on the screen, seeing Jigsaw walking towards the door, he couldn't care less about his recent fainting, and loudly exclaimed, "So he's Jigsaw!"
The unconscious professor slapped his own leg hard. "Damn, I missed such an exciting scene!"
He didn't care about fainting at all but complained about missing Jigsaw's big performance.
The people around laughed. They weren't much better than the professor. This ending was indeed shocking, completely beyond everyone's expectations.
It was seamless!
"The game is over!"
Jigsaw closed the iron door, the screen went black, and credits appeared: Directed by Murphy Stanton, Written by Murphy Stanton, Produced by Murphy Stanton...
The movie ended, and Kara Farris picked up her handbag, ready to leave the theater. She noticed that everyone was still staring at the credits on the screen, showing no signs of leaving. Some were even daydreaming.
Louis Gonzalez was also lost in thought, recalling the final flashback scenes. He slapped his forehead, wondering why he hadn't thought the middle corpse could be Jigsaw.
There must have been many details he overlooked. It seemed like he needed to find time to watch it again.
He was the first to stand up, pulling the skinny guy on one side and the chubby guy on the other, reminding them, "It's over, let's go."
"It's over..." The chubby guy grumbled as he stood up.
The skinny guy seemed reluctant to leave. "Why was it so short?"
Their little group reluctantly got up. Some glanced back at the screen, some lost in thought, and some took three times longer than usual to leave the theater.
"!"
As they exited the theater, someone said, "The director is amazing, he fooled all of us."
The chubby guy chimed in, "But he did it brilliantly! I'd rather be fooled by such a brilliant film than watch a bad one."
"What's the director's name?" The skinny guy stood at the theater door, awkwardly scratching his head. "I was stunned by the ending and forgot to look at the director's name."
Louis Gonzalez stepped aside from the theater steps. "Murphy Stanton, he's also the screenwriter!"
"I don't remember a director like this in the horror genre." Another person joined in. "He must be a newcomer, a newcomer..."
He didn't say much,
just raised his right thumb.
Checking the time, Louis Gonzalez reminded, "It's getting late, let's all go back."
For those already working, movies were for relaxation, entertainment, not life. They waved goodbye and headed to their cars.
The black skinny guy was the last to leave. Before leaving, he told Louis Gonzalez, "I won't be going to tomorrow's gathering. Don't forget to recommend this movie at the gathering."
"For sure." Louis Gonzalez patted his back, "With such a great film, I can't wait to share it with others."
As he started his car, he thought, was Murphy Stanton really a newcomer director? Could a newcomer director achieve this level? When did such a stunning newcomer appear in the film industry? Why hadn't he heard of it before?
Daisy arrived at the theater with a stern face and left with the same expression. Initially exhausted from finding the theater, she was now stunned by the movie.
That director, Murphy Stanton, was really unpredictable! After neutering the Big Bad Wolf with Little Red Riding Hood in his first film, this one had a psychopath lying in the middle, enjoying his killing game...
Was he also a psychopath? Daisy shook off the thought but then shook her head. Even if the director was a psychopath, he was a remarkably talented one.
Though slightly nauseated by the bloody scenes, she left the theater feeling satisfied.
"What an awesome director, what an awesome screenwriter, that twist was absolutely mind-blowing..."
Listening to the discussions as people left the theater together, Kara Farris took out her phone. She had also seen "Hard Candy." Besides Little Red Riding Hood killing the Big Bad Wolf, it was quite ordinary. She even thought about persuading Murphy to switch to the news industry, believing he wasn't suitable for movies. But now? She smiled. It seemed she was wrong. This horror film was truly unexpectedly brilliant, and she could tell from the expressions of those leaving.
Kara Farris walked to her car, leaned against the door, and dialed Murphy's number. After several rings, he picked up.
"Why are you calling me all of a sudden?"
Hearing that familiar voice, Kara Farris didn't beat around the bush and said directly, "I just watched your new movie."
Murphy, standing at the studio door, walked into the courtyard. "How did you feel? Was it exciting? By the way, was the attendance high?"
"I watched a screening with nearly twenty people."
Hearing this, Murphy nodded. After all, it was Friday morning. Kara Farris continued, "It was terrifying. A professor from Columbia University fainted!"
"Fainted?" Murphy raised an eyebrow.
