14: Confusing Dinner

I walk down the hall and into the kitchen where both Jack and Sasko look disturbed.

"Hello. What's for dinner?"

My mom smiles.

"I figured since you were raised human I'd make a human dinner. Chicken!" She says, clapping her hands together. Sasko takes a bite, and wrinkles his nose.

"It has a very strange taste to it." He says, chewing slowly. I tilt my head.

"Well what do demons usually eat?" I ask. My mom smiles and hands me a small red bag. I open it, Jack peeking over my shoulder. He nearly chokes on his chicken, and coughs into the trash bin. I blink and take out a-

"Dead rabbit." I say, pursing my lips. "Hm."

Sasko seems to find this hilarious.

"You don't eat the rabbit, kid. You drink the blood." He says, grabbing it from me. I blink.

"I am NOT a vampire last time I checked!!"

Sasko blinks.

"What's a vampire?"

"It's a legend they have on earth, honey." My mom explains. "Just try it, Tay." She says, softly. I scowl and grab the rabbit before Sasko eats it. I look down at it, and bite it. It doesn't taste bad-

I realize what I'm doing, and drop the rabbit. I wipe my mouth, and stare at the floor. I can feel the disgusted look from Jack.

"I-I'm gonna go take a shower." I stutter, rushing to the bathroom. This world is so confusing. Do I really belong here? I feel more like me, and I don't wanna leave my family. Or...Carson. But...my human family. And Jack. Drake? I groan and flap my wings, irritated. Suddenly, the water turns off and the lights go out. I get dressed and flick on the light switch. Nothing. The water in the sink turns on. What the hell? I turn it off. Then the shower starts. What's going on?! Both of them start again. I tap the shower head. It keeps running.

"Stop it!" I demand. The lights turn on and the water stops. I storm outside, where my mom is staring at me. I shove passed everyone and go outside. I flap my wings. What's going on here? Why is this happening?! I feel heat everywhere. Suddenly-

"Fire!!"
