15: Ability Training

I look around. Nothings on fire. I look at my hands and scream. The fire goes out, and I'm soaking wet. I turn around. Jack holds a now empty bucket, and is staring at me. I shake off my wings, spreading water droplets everywhere.

"Great. Now I have to change my clothes again." I grumble. My mom steps in front of me, and Sasko is grinning like a lunatic.

"It's finally time for your Ability Training." He says, crossing his arms. My mom nods.

"It's around that time. Sasko go get me my glove. And the one I have for Tay."

Glove? Why a glove? Sasko returns with a black and red glove for me. My mom holds it out.

"What's the glove for?" I ask. She smirks.

"You're right handed, correct?"

"Yeah." I nod. She puts the glove on my right hand.

"That's the hand you're going to use in combat and Ability training, so that's the hand we put the glove on. The glove helps control any wild ability's you don't know, or have control of."

I blink. Okay...this is defiantly a new experience. I clench my gloved hand into a fist. My mom grins and holds out a metal bar.

"Melt it." She demands. That's metal, I'm not-

"You'd be surprised." Sasko says, as if he can read my mind. I wrap my fingers around the metal and warm the palm of my hand. Nothing.

"Try harder." My mom says. I narrow my eyes and will my hand to be hotter. Cmon...the metal sizzles and melts under my hand. I blink.

"Oh-"

"Okay, so heat. Including: fire, heat waves, anything hot is one of you're skills." Sasko notes. My mom laughs.

"She controls most elements, Sasko." She points out.

"That's amazing."

I spin around. It's Carson. He also has a glove on.

"Ah. Yes, I invited Carson to train with us. You two will be dueling." She says, stepping back. I stare at the grass.

"Flying included?" I ask.

"Yeah, sure." He smiles. I grin. He smirks at me, and takes off, faster than i can see. I spread my wings and bolt after him. Where is he...? Something flys by my head. Water. I spin around and kick Carson in the chest. He inhales quickly, recovering. He punches me in the jaw. Ouch! Mom wasn't lying. This is real combat. In that case...I grab Carson's arm and rest it my shoulder. Then, I flip him over my shoulder, sending my to the ground. He spreads his wings and zips towards me. My eyes widen, and bang. I cough, and my wings fold in. I start to drop like a stone.

"Tayler!" Jack shouts. I don't know what Carson did but I couldnt handle it. I land on the ground with enough force to break my back. I blink up at the sky. Woah. I cough again, finally inhaling.

"Ouch." I wheeze. Carson helps me up and I trip him. He chuckles, standing back up. Jack runs to me.

"Are you okay? You're not hurt, right?" He asks. Carson laughs.

"Nah, i wouldn't hurt her like that." He says.

"You don't look very friendly." Jack hisses. Carson's face turns serious.

"You think I'd hurt her?"

"I wouldn't put it past you!"

Carson glares at Jack and clenches his jaw. I step between Jack and Carson.

"I'm fine, Jack. Carson's a good guy." I whisper. I shake dirt off my wings.

"Ability trainings over for the day. I'll cya at school tomorrow, Carson." Sasko says. Carson nods, but keeps looking at me. He bends down and whispers,

"I'll see you in class."

Then, he walks away with a smirk, and a decent shove by Jack.
