Chapter 14: Predators And Prey
Narration through Melvin's point of view:
""Predators... refer to animals that naturally prey on other animals for sustenance. They develop deadly adaptations, such as claws and jaws, to subdue their prey. However, there are moments when the prey fights back, resulting in injuries or even death for the predators. It's a survival law in nature; if you're disabled, you can't survive. To avoid such consequences, predators instill fear in their prey, rendering them too paralyzed to fight back. Tiger for instance... its roar is so much intimidating it sends spines down chills to its enemy, causes it to paralyze on its spot. Tigers, lions, bears... these three were the ones I believed capable of such power. But the thing i wasn't aware of, werewolves have developed such skills too and they're excelling at it. And guess what? Currently am experiencing that right now yeyyy.... ya ya not funny.
Hii there, I'm Melvin Krelin, 16 years old. It's been two weeks since I arrived at this academy, which is NOT an ordinary academy at all. Making enemies with werewolves is the last thing you'd want in an academy like this. Yet, thanks to my luck, that's precisely what happened. Ha ha ha... I find myself in a critical situation, and I'm still laughing? Well.. am an idiot anyways.....
Currently ethan and Lui are literally like predators now, and I'm the prey? But...but.....but....""
"When the prey decides to fight back... it doesn't take long for the predators to become the prey themselve."
*Back to the present situation:

Ethan (confident): "Hahaha, it's all over for you, Melvin. You've lost."
--
*Melvin remains paralyzed, kneeling on the ground.*
Melvin: "Hehehh... so you just proved that, huh..."
--
Ethan: "Proved what?"
--
Melvin (smiles): "That you're so cowardly that you werewolves need more than one person to defeat a human. What a cowardly move, isn't it?"
--
Ethan: "That's not entirely untrue. We werewolves do tend to hunt in packs, after all. That's why we're considered the most successful predators in the wild. And now, you're nothing more than prey to us, heheheh."

Melvin: "Oh really....and what if... the prey turns into the main threat for you?"
--
Ethan (confused): "What do you mean? There's nothing you can do now; it's all over for you."
--
Melvin (smiles): "Are you absolutely certain?"
--
*Ethan suddenly feels a sharp pain in his back and tries to reach it.*
--
Ethan(worried): "Huh!"
--
Melvin: Well, take a look behind you.
--
*Ethan looks back and finds a sharp knife hovering just behind his back.* (Melvin is using his telekinesis on the knife through his eyes.)
--
Ethan(Shocked): "What the-"
--
Melvin: "Remember that knife? The one you hurled at me in the library, heheh."
--
Lui (shocked): "What! I don't understand! Your body is paralyzed! How are you using telekinesis?"
--
Melvin: "Fool... I only use my hands for better coordination and movement... otherwise, I only need to focus on an object to employ telekinesis. With my body paralyzed, I can concentrate better on telekinesis. Now, don't move a muscle... I can move the knife swiftly enough to pierce right through you."
--
Ethan: "Tch! So what's the plan now? You're not planning to kill a student from the academy, are you? The security will apprehend you immediately. I know you wouldn't do that." (Ethan starts moving forward)
"Khaching"
"(The knife moves swiftly, slightly cutting Ethan's hand)"

Melvin: "Didn't I tell you not to move! I won't need to end your life, but I can certainly keep giving you paper cuts until you surrender."
--
*Ethan's cut begins to bleed slightly, and he exclaims in pain: "Aghhh- you bastard!"
--
Melvin(warns): "Lui, you better not move either, or the knife will reach you in no time!"
--
Lui: "Grrr, fine am not planning to move anyways!"
--
*Melvin realizes that the paralyzing effect is slowly fading away.*
--
Melvin: "Ah! So I was right; the effect of the howl stops working if the one who got paralyzed no longer sees the howler as a significant threat. Nice nice."
"Melvin struggles to his feet."
Melvin: "Feels good to be free again, no lie. Your paralyzing technique is truly dangerous. Now then, Ethan... I don't enjoy hurting anyone like this. How many cuts will it take for you to agree to cooperate?"

*Ethan and Lui don't answer but suddenly burst into laughter.*
Ethan: "Heheh, haha!"
Lui: "Gahaha, haha!"
Melvin (confused): Hmm? What's so funny now?

Ethan: "Well, well... we really didn't think you would be such a trouble. Anyways..."
*Saying silently* "Ryuza! Do it!!"
--
Melvin (shocked): What?!!
--
*As soon as Ethan says that, a shadowy figure appears behind Melvin.*
--
[In that critical moment, Melvin wonders (in his mind): Who... is this now!? I... didn't even hear him approaching from anywhere!]
*Before Melvin can make any moves to defend himself, the shadowy figure pierces two nails into Melvin's back.*
--
Ryuza: "Vampire technique: Complete blindness."
*As soon as Ryuza pierces his nails, Melvin's vision is completely consumed by darkness, leaving him in total blackness.*
--
Melvin (panicking): "Huhh!! Aghhggg what- the hell happened to my eyes! I can't- see anything!!"
--
Ethan: "Hahah, now, for more safety!"
"Redmane Alpha howl"!!!
--
""Melvin screams out in pain, "Aaaaahhhh!!!!"
--
*Ethan releases another howl towards Melvin, leaving him paralyzed again, this time with blindness, causing him to fall to his knees once more.*

Melvin (on the ground): "Yet another cowardly move, damn you all!
Ryuza, is it? You're a vampire? Why are you helping him?"
--
Ryuza(Cold eyes): "Sorry, I have nothing personal against you. It's just that I need money right now".
--
Melvin: "I see, so he just bought you. What the hell did you do to my eyes?"
--
Ryuza (calmly):" Don't worry, I just blocked the blood vessels toward your retina. It's just temporary blindness."
--
[Melvin thinks: "So that's it, huh? There's nothing I can do right now. I guess I just... lost."]

Ethan: Enough chit-chat now!
*Ethan moves toward Melvin.*
Ethan: "Now, Melvin, you can't see, nor can you move. You see....to win in this world, you always need backup plans for everything, but here, you barged in without a single plan, thinking you could take us down."

**"BAM"**

*Ethan punches Melvin in the face, causing him to fall a little farther.*
Ethan:" Now I will just have to beat you until you accept your defeat and promise you wouldn't act all flashy in academy again."
*Even after the punch, a weird smile remains on Melvin's face.*

Melvin: "Ah! First Kris, and now you. It's been years since I got punched by anyone. This academy is really amazing, huh! Haha."
--
Ethan: "What? Are you happy with getting punched or what?"
**"Bam"** *another punch.*
Ethan: "You will keep getting punched if you don't accept defeat, idiot!"
Melvin: "Hahaha, you are holding back? Your punch doesn't have the "Werewolf super strength" power I heard of haha"
Ethan rages: "Idiot!! Be happy am not using that strength, it would crush your skull immediately otherwise"
*Ethan grabs Melvin's collar.*
Ethan: "Say it! Say you accept defeat and won't interfere in my class reputation again!! Say!!"

Melvin (still with a psycho smile): "What? Defeat? I've never heard of this word... Hehe, you will need to kill me to prove my defeat, idiot."
--
Ethan: "Grrr!! Fine then!"
*Ethan starts throwing punch after punch at him.*
**Bam**
**Bam**
**BAM**
"Yet still his smile doesn't seem to fade away in the slightest "
Ethan (frustrated in his mind): "What's happening? Why does he keep smiling? Why won't he accept defeat!?"
*In the midst of Ethan's punches, Melvin becomes lost in his past thoughts.*

[Melvin (in his thoughts): Nice... reminds me of the old days, huh. Nothing's changed. The same scenario as my school days... Before my powers came... high-class students used to do the same to us. Hitting us whenever they wanted, taking our stuff forcefully... I couldn't do anything but endure...because i knew if I fought, I could cause serious injuries... one time I decided to fight back, and what happened? I broke his eyes, resulting in complaints to the school and my parents, which led to my expulsion from school... that's why I never fought back anyone after that, just endured... and other students? They just watched, no one came to help... nor anyone will help now.]

"While Ethan is busy throwing punches, he suddenly hears Lui calling his name."
Lui (shouting):" ETHAAAAN, WATCH OUT!!!"
*One devastating kick came from a mysterious man on Ethan's left side, sending him flying.*
*It was a big humanoid creature with the face, hands, and legs of a tiger.*
??? : "So this is what your "little" walk is, Melvin?!"

*Melvin hears one familiar voice from him*
Melvin (surprised): "Huh!? That voice... Leo?"
--
Leo: "Of course, it's me, you idiot! Look at your face, all beaten up!"
--
Lui (frustrated): "AGH, damn it! Leo again!"
--
Melvin: "Haha, it is you! How did you find me!?"
--
Leo: "Thank Aria for that! She called me and warned me about the letter. I came looking for you. I used bat's hearing ears and heard sounds coming from this place."

Melvin: "Ah, genius, huh! And your attack was so strong, dude. Even I felt the force of that!"
--
Leo (scolding): "AND YOU IDIOT! I'M GONNA KICK YOU EVEN HARDER LATER! WHAT WERE YOU THINKING FIGHTING THEM ALONE??"
--
Melvin: "Ehehe... sorry. I just came to talk, but the situation got out of control."
--
Leo: "Ugh, fine. And why aren't you standing up?"
--
Melvin: "Well... actually, I'm paralyzed... plus blind too... lol."
--
Leo: "What!? How!? And what's even "lol" in this??"
--
*While that, Ethan stands up on his feet.*
Ethan: "Grrr! Yet another idiot! Guess I have to defeat you again, Dawson!"
**Ethan takes his wolf form, transforming into a large, black wolf and bright white eyes, and charges towards Leo.**

Leo(Confident): "Well... talking of paralysis, Melvin, see this..."
*Takes deep breath inside*
*"TIGER DOMINANT ALPHA ROAR"*
"Leo releases a body-shaking roar, a frequency entirely different from a wolf's howl. Ethan freezes in his tracks, his entire body quaking from the overwhelming roar."

Ethan(terrified): "Wh-what w-as that s-sound! It's freezing my whole b-body!!"
--
"Lui(worried): "E-Ethaaaan noooo!!"
--
Melvin(proud): Hahahah! That's pretty cool! Beware, wolf predators... cause the "Apex predator" has arrived.
