Chapter Twelve Meet The Little Thief Cat Again
"Oh? Going to Shieldstown?" Luffy asked with curiosity as the small sloop sailed towards their destination. Kirby, who had some knowledge of seamanship, was at the helm while Alan lay back, enjoying the pleasant sea breeze and feeling relaxed.
Luffy shared his plan of rescuing the "Pirate Hunter" Zoro, who had been captured by the Marines and now needed their help. Luffy waved at Alan and asked for his opinion on recruiting Zoro as their new crew member.
Alan nodded, acknowledging Zoro's reputation as a skilled swordsman. Meanwhile, Kirby expressed concern about Zoro being a dangerous bounty hunter, but he hesitated to voice his thoughts in front of Alan, who was known for his magic abilities.
Alan, understanding Kirby's reservations, assured him that he had no issue with Luffy's plan. However, he reminded them of his own personal vendetta against the 16th branch of the Marines and the village of Cocosia. Alan intended to seek revenge on the corrupt Colonel Mouse and Arlong, who had caused great harm. Luffy readily agreed and saw no problem with Alan's quest for justice.
Kirby, taken aback by Alan's plan, wondered if it was wise to challenge the notorious Dragon Pirates and the Marines. Despite his concerns, Kirby couldn't find the courage to dissuade Alan, feeling intimidated by the magician's powerful presence.
Luffy reassured Kirby, saying that Alan was easy to get along with and that there was no need to worry. Meanwhile, Alan focused on estimating their journey's duration using a chart in his hands. He informed them that it would take about two to three days to reach Shields Town.
During their voyage, they encountered a girl rowing a damaged boat. Luffy and Kirby were surprised when Alan recognized her as someone they had encountered on a previous cruise ship. Nami, the girl rowing the boat, expressed anger over her broken mast, which had been caused by Alan's playing cards.
Luffy playfully questioned Alan about his involvement, causing Nami's frustration to grow. However, Alan admitted that he was indeed responsible for the accident and apologized to Nami. He offered her a ride on their ship as a gesture of goodwill.
Kirby raised concerns about diverting from their original plan to accommodate Nami's presence, but she revealed that she was also headed to Shieldstown. Excited by the coincidence, Luffy happily agreed to have her join their journey.
As the sloop sailed onward, the crew looked forward to the adventures awaiting them in Shieldstown, with both Nami and Zoro soon to become valuable additions to the Straw Hat Pirates.
