Chapter 5: Detective.

She felt a strong force coming and she tried to avoid it. However, it was a dark and small place so she couldn't completely avoid it. She was hit with a heavy metal object on her shoulder. She felt pain but couldn't care less. She quickly dodged another attack and then swiftly grabbed it. That criminal tried to lay her off and when he couldn't, he let go of the rod. Eliza quickly took out her phone and switched on the torch. The moment she did, the first thing she saw was a dagger swinging at her. She was stunned and moved backwards to avoid it but there was a wall behind. She failed at avoiding it and got a flesh cut on the left side of her chest. Her jacket was torn off and her white shirt underneath quickly got tainted with red.Seeing the dagger coming at her again, her eyes darkened. And then, suddenly, in a matter of seconds, she bent down and avoided the dagger. Her hands smoothly but swiftly took out the dagger concealed on her ankle. Then before the killer could make another move, he froze." Tick, Tick, Tick." The sound of something trickling down was heard. He looked down and saw his waist getting wet. Pain suddenly hit him and he was shocked. However, it was an Italian gravity knife. It was sharp but thin. So the wound wasn't enough to render him useless. However, before he could react, she stabbed him again. This time in the shoulder. He staggered backwards and fell from the pain. His mind became messy as he knew he was in danger. In desperation, he grabbed his dagger and threw it at her. Eliza avoided it but it ended up searching her upper arm. Maybe it was because she didn't care much about injuries but she should have been careful as an experienced detective. After that, she slowly approached him not giving a damn about her wound. She picked up her fallen pistol in one hand and the gravity knife in the other. He staggered backward on the ground but before he could hurt her again, she used all her strength and kicked him. That knocked him off. Just as a precaution, she took out the handcuffs from behind her and locked his hands. Then with the help of a torch, she opened the lights. There were dim lights in this basement but they were enough for her to see clearly. There was a small one-person iron cage. Inside that was a man in his late teenage years. He was unconscious and probably hurt. Then another victim was hanging on the cross. It was a man in his early 30s. He was tied with ropes and had cuts and wounds on his body. But that wasn't all. There was another woman in her twenties tied on a chair with rough ropes. She was also quite injured. The man hanging on the cross was semi-conscious while the woman was conscious but she could barely speak. Eliza quickly took out her walkie-talkie and contacted her people. The connection wasn't good but she managed to give them important information. Then she hung up and freed them all. She first went to the woman as she was the easiest to free. However, as she was opening the ropes, that woman said in an almost inaudible voice." Him... Open him... First... " Eliza looked at where she was pointing and saw the teenage boy in the cage. He was the only unconscious one. However, he looked the least injured." Let me free you first."" ...No. He's... He's... In danger... "Hearing that, a deep look flashed in Eliza's eyes. She thought for a moment and decided. " Okay then wait here."She searched for the key to the cage and found it in the pocket of the killer. She quickly took it and opened the cage. As she dragged him out, she could feel his heavy breathing and high temperature. Open closure look, his skin was also a bit pale and pink.Eliza quickly put him aside and freed them all. It seemed like her colleagues were having a hard time finding them as they didn't arrive yet. She planned to go out to bring them as they needed help but she heard that woman saying in a low voice." Don't... Don't go... "Eliza looked at her with an inexplicable gaze and ended up staying but she knew they needed to go out quickly as it was not good to delay for any of them. She picked up the phone and tried contacting them. There was a bad connection. She tried texting them and saw that the message didn't reach them until a while. When she saw it, she put away the phone. Blood still trickled down her chest and arm. However, the others had more severe injuries. She wanted to do something but it looked like she should leave it to professionals as they are past the emergency state. Only the teenage boy seemed in serious condition. As she was checking over him, she heard the woman speak. " He... He has a cough... He has been cough cough cough... " Her voice was very hoarse and strained. It was so low and looked like she had to use all her energy to speak. It seemed she had something important to say. Eliza looked around and saw water. She gave it to her. After the woman drank a little, her voice got better as she said." He has been poisoned... It's been 3-4 hours. He could die if things go wrong. Please treat him... "" Police are on their way with an ambulance. I am not a doctor so I can't help much."" I cough... I am a doctor... Can you cough do as I say?"" I see. I'll try."" Wear... Wear gloves first. I cough don't know what poison it is. It... It could be... "She seemed to be having a hard time talking as she gasped. As she couldn't talk properly, she needed to do something about that first. She asked." Do you... Have a candy? Or... Something sweet?"
