Sports Festival Final: The Winner.

[Third person POV]

The semifinals began and Bakugo advanced easily against Tokoyami, meaning that Kaito and Todoroki will fight next.

"The semifinals are fire baby!" Present-Mic.

"After the crushing win from Bakugo, two of UA most promising students will engage in combat!"

"From this side, half-cold, half-hot, will he freeze or burn you?! From class 1-A! Todoroki Shoto!"

"Versus! The one who can't be predicted, a powerhouse whose limits are unknown! From class 1-A! Kobayashi Kaito!"

The crowd cheers and starts to theorize on who would win.

"I know you probably won't do it but, please use your fire." Kaito.

"I'm sorry. I still have things to work out in order to use it properly." Shoto.

"I see…then, I'm sorry, but this is going to hurt." Kaito had a cold look on his face.

'I honestly thought that almost losing would make him use his left, guess I was wrong.' Kaito thought.

"The second round of the semifinals…BEGINS!" Midnight.

Todoroki makes a huge ice wall to encapsule Kaito. Kaito gets captured and the arena goes silent for a moment.

"W-w-what! Todoroki just froze Kobayashi alive! Somebody, help him!" Present-Mic panicked.

"Don't be a fool, he is not the type to lose this easily." Aizawa comments.

The arena starts filling with the sound of tremors, the sound was coming from the ice wall that encapsule Kaito. Kaito burst out of the structure using his fists and had a grin in his face.

"So, that's how you are playing. Time to show you what a real hunt is!" Kaito unsheathes one of his swords and gets in a stance.

"Hunter Breathing Second Form: Sanjuroku Pound Ho!"

Kaito unleashes an air shockwave directed at Todoroki.

"Kobayashi does it again! Just like Midoriya he is keeping his distance using an air attack!" Present-Mic.

Todoroki blocks the attack with an ice wall but, the next second Kaito appears behind him and attacks.

"Hunter Breathing First Form Version 0: Oni Giri!"

Unleashing three simultaneous cuts at Todoroki's Back, making him bleed a little.

"Do you understand, Todoroki? Power saves lives, if you can't save someone, it's because of your own weakness as a person, I hone my skills each day so that I can keep up with guys that have powerful quirks like yours, and even then, it might not be enough." Kaito.

"Do you get it? Holding back now is a testament that you'll never improve, give it your all or give up on being a hero!"

Kaito had a cold glare and his killing intent was suffocating, Todoroki knew that he couldn't hold back here, his problems are for another time, right now, he would surpass the one at the top of the class.

Todoroki creates a giant ice structure and looks at Kaito from the top. He raises his left hand and starts bombarding the stage with fire blasts.

Kaito dodges and cuts one after another but the blasts have and AOE effect that injures him. Kaito decides to cut the whole structure down the structure.

'Hunter Breathing Fifth Form: Tatsu Maki!'

Kaito creates a tornado by rotating his body, the tornado not only cuts the structure but also negates the incoming fire attacks.

Todoroki jumps and tries to evade the attack, but the tornado drags him and crashes into the floor.

[In the stands.]

"I never knew that he could be that powerful!" Kaminari.

"And all of that without having a quirk." Sero.

"Midoriya-chan, do you have any idea of how hard has Kaito-chan trained?" Tsuyu.

"Yes, yes, I do. One time when I went to his house to play, he had equipment for exercises, even his exercise routine was so hardcore that it could be considered self-destructive. From punching and kicking poles made from steel, to smashing his body from high altitudes, he literally broke his body and healed it over and over again."

The class was in awe, they couldn't believe what Midoriya said.

"Why does he pushes himself so hard." Mina.

"He once told me: 'I have to be strong to protect others, the dream to protect is meaningless unless you have the strength to back it up.' This is the result he has achieved after years of honing himself." Midoriya remembers the USJ incident and how Kaito held the Nomu back.

"Guess we have a long way until we reach his level." Yaoyorozu.

"Yeah! That's the manly thing to do!" Kirishima.

[Back at the stage.]

"Thunder Breathing Eighth Form: Thunderous Air Spin!"

Kaito jumps and does a 360° fast slash to attack Todoroki in the air.

Todoroki receives the hit and falls inside the stage, Kaito doesn't stop and keeps attacking.

"Thunder Breathing Second Form: Rice Spirit!"

Five arced slashes are directed towards Todoroki and he burns them with his fire and then freezes the whole area. Unfortunately for him, Kaito was prepared and starts skiing around, despite his lack of movement Kaito evaded Todoroki's attacks and waited for him to over-freeze so that he would use his left again.

The barrage of attacks continues and Todoroki reaches his limit and uses his left side, the terrain starts to defrost and Kaito dashes towards Todoroki for the final attack.

Todoroki charges a fire blast in his left and Kaito prepares for an Oni Giri. Kaito's attack connects but Todoroki grabs his hand and starts to freeze his body.

"Todoroki's counter has immobilized Kobayashi! Despite being at the loser's end, he has made a comeback, could this be the end for our wild card?!"

Todoroki attacks Kaito in the face with multiple punches and kicks, Kaito receives them, the ice around him was more compact, making it harder for him to use shivering.

Todoroki notices Kaito's movements and decides to finish this with a huge blast. Todoroki steps back and aims his hand at Kaito gathering the fire into his palm in the process.

Todoroki looked at Kaito and said: "I…win!" blasting the fire in the process.

Kaito finally frees himself but it was too late, he didn't have a single way to escape, so he did the only thing he could do...break through.

"Flame Breathing Sixth Form: Homura Saki/Flame Split!"

Kaito cuts in half the fire blast from Todoroki, the blast divides into two and hits the walls of the arena Kaito passes through and reaches Todoroki. Todoroki is in disbelieve and charges another one but he overheats, allowing Kaito to have a free attack.

Kaito sheathes on of his swords and gets in a stance.

"Hunter Breathing Sixth Form: Ittoryu Iai: Shishi Sonson!"

Kaito disappears and appears behind Todoroki sheathing his sword after appearing behind. Once the sword is fully sheathed, a slash mark appears on Todoroki's chest and he gets knocked out.

"Todoroki is knocked out! The winner is Kobayashi!" Midnight.

"THERE YOU HAVE IT FOLKS! Strike after strike, this battle has claimed its winner! Kobayashi Kaito will fight the finals against Katsuki Bakugo!" Present-Mic.

The crowd cheers and Kaito gives Todoroki some makeshift aid to prevent his injuries from worsening.

'I know it's useless when we have recovery girl but, I have to help my friend. I went a little too far, but that was my way of showing respect.' Kaito thought as he was exiting the stage and look for a new set of clothes.

"Wah! That battle exhausted me!" Kaito took a bottle of water from Nezuko and drank it.

"Here." Someone passes Kaito a towel.

"Ah, thanks…" Kaito takes the towel but realizes that the one that gave it to him was Endeavor.

Kaito pretends that nothing happened and kept drying the sweat from his face.

"You are a very interesting kid, normally someone would try to act respectful towards me."

"You are a great hero, but a terrible father, I have made research about you." Kaito glares coldly at Endeavor.

"What do you want #2?" Kaito asks.

"I just wanted to thank you for pushing Shoto to that edge."

"No need, I did it for my own reasons, if that's all then I'll be going, I seriously don't want to be near you." Kaito starts to leave but then stops.

"One piece of advice: If you don't try to fix things now, you'll be too late to save your family." Kaito spoke and then left.

'The Todoroki family is a shithole with the level of a supernova, and Touya is the most miserable of them all, hope things are less painful this time.' Kaito thought.

Endeavor on the other hand wonders why Kaito gave him that warning but discarded the thought after a few seconds.

After a 30-minute break, everything was ready for the match, Kaito and Bakugo were in the same waiting room, neither of them made a noise. Suddenly Bakugo gets up and speaks to Kaito.

"I know that you've been pulling your punches so I'll get to the point, battle me with all your power!"

"I've known you for what? 11 years? Of course, I will go all out against you, douchebag!"

Bakugo smirks angrily and gets out of the room.

"I'll kill you!" He said before leaving.

"Just try it!" Kaito yelled.

After Bakugo left, Kaito reflected upon everything that he knew about Bakugo and the way he is, Kaito hated the character of Bakugo in his previous world, but now, he somewhat respects him.

'At first, I disliked him, I hated everything he did, his actions towards Midoriya, his sense of superiority just for having a powerful quirk, but, after all this time, I've come to understand you, Bakugo.'

'You are prideful and you never acknowledge anyone besides All Might to be better than you, today I will show you your limits, we have battled since we were 4 and despite me winning almost all the time, you defeated me in more than one occasion.'

'After entering 2nd year of middle school, we stopped fighting, and we agreed that if we meet at UA, we will resume the encounters.'

'What I'm trying to say is…Bakugo, you are a rival for the #1 spot, so I'll give you the fight you deserve.' Kaito concluded his inner monologue and went towards the stage.

"LADIES AND GENTELMEN! UA high present to you…the finals of the sports festival!" Present-Mic.

"On one side! The guy whose explosions have blasted away the competition! Katsuki Bakugo!"

"On the other side! The one that has been dominant the whole competition! Getting 1st place in the previous rounds! Kobayashi Kaito!"

Kaito and Bakugo stared at each other. Kaito has 2 normal katanas.

"Begin!" Midnight.

In the very moment that Midnight said those words, Kaito and Bakugo dashed towards each other. Kaito's katanas clashed against Bakugo's palms that were generating explosions.

Kaito slashed through but Bakugo dodge before making impact with an explosion, Kaito received the explosion but slashed forwards cutting Bakugo.

The exchanges were fierce and fast, neither Kaito nor Bakugo were backing down, each of them went full on offensive. Kaito sheathes his sword and gets in a stance.

"Moon Breathing First Form: Dark Moon, Evening Palace."

The crescent shaped slash manages to cut Bakugo's chest, Bakugo uses his explosions and goes airborne.

'Dammit! With so many techniques I can't simply predict them, moreover, I have shown almost all of my cards so he has an idea of how counter me. No choice, I'll try this then!' Bakugo thought before aiming his hands downwards to the arena.

"If I blow the arena, you will lose SHITHEAD!" Bakugo sends a big explosion towards the arena.

"That wont work and you know it." Kaito prepares a stance with his two katanas.

"Hunter Breathing Fifth Form Enhanced: Kokujo: O Tatsu maki!"

Kaito generates a stronger tornado that was aimed towards Bakugo, but he was no longer in the air.

Bakugo appeared from the side and blasted Kaito with a huge explosion. Kaito couldn't defend so he stabbed the floor with both of his katanas and withstood the explosion behind it.

'Crap! The plan telling was so that I would only focus on him in the air, he figured out the problem with most of my techniques.' Kaito thought.

To be precise, those forms that don't have 100% proficiency have somewhat of end-lag like in the games, to be more specific, after performing a technique, Kaito remains open for attacks in a fraction of 1.5 seconds the moment the technique finishes.

Bakugo deduced after seeing Kaito's swordsmanship over the years and noticed the small gap, he doesn't know how long he has until the end-lag finishes, so he tries to be as fast as he could.

Kaito withstood the explosion thanks to the remaining effect of the fifth form enhanced, which gave him somewhat of protection.

After panting for a few seconds, both of them went again. Kaito slashed Bakugo un the arm and he received an explosion head-on to the face.

[In the stands.]

"Look at that! So powerful!" Kirishima.

"I-I'm really glad that I didn't pass the 2nd round." Mineta.

"True. I feel that I wouldn't last even a few seconds." Said Mina with sweat in her cheek.

"Look at that! Kobayashi-san is moving so fast!" Sero.

"Bakugo went bonkers with his explosions! Kobayashi's footing is being destroyed." Kaminari.

"He's flying as well! Man! That technique is crazy!" Hagakure.

"It seems that we never truly grasped the power of the rep." Yaoyorozu.

"Yes, ribbit." Tsuyu.

'Kobayashi, I guess it will take some time for me to reach your level.' Todoroki said and tightened his fists.

'Kaito-san, all my life I saw my dream of being a hero impossible for being quirkless, but in reality it was always how I did nothing what held me back, still, I will surpass you, one step at a time!' Midoriya thought.

"Looks like the battle is going to prolong." Sato.

"I don't think so." Midoriya.

Class 1-A and B looked at him wondering why he said that.

"Despite being almost equally injured, I know for a fact that Kaito-san is not nearly as tired as Kacchan is right now."

"They look about the same." Shoji.

"True, but Kaito-san is not panting like Kacchan over there."

[Back at the fight.]

Kaito and Bakugo had bruises all over their bodies, Bakugo has cuts from superficial to deep and Kaito has burn marks mostly in his face and chest, both of them were in bad states, but Kaito was clearly the one in best shape.

Despite the burnings, Kaito was less exhausted than Bakugo. Kaito send a wind slash towards Bakugo but he was so tired that couldn't keep up and received the direct hit and falls.

"Oh!? Is this it?! will contestant Bakugo finally be defeated after this heck of a battle!?" Present-Mic.

"Mummy-man give a personal!"

"Kobayashi doesn't look that tired, Bakugo on the other hand is losing focus due to exhaustion, even his palms are starting to get affected because of the prolonged use of his quirk."

"Dammit!" Bakugo yells and it resonates with the whole arena.

"You keep underestimating me!" Bakugo yelled.

"No, I'm not idiot!" Kaito replied.

"If you were truly serious! You would use a technique like the ones you used against that monster at the USJ!"

"I just don't see the necessity to show trump cards to anyone else. You are aware that villains also watch this event, right?" Kaito whispers loud enough for Bakugo to hear.

Bakugo realizes that and knows that what Kaito says makes sense, but, a part of him really wants to have a complete victory.

"I don't care! Fight me with your best techniques or die!"

'This is by far the dumbest thing I'll do (choosing to be quirkless doesn't count readers.) you want the best? I'll show you the best.' Kaito sheathes one of his katanas.

"Bakugo! Don't you dare to regret your actions later! Let's end this fight with the next attack!" Kaito got into a stance and his fighting spirit flooded the arena.

Bakugo felt the pressure, he felt the enormous power that Kaito had within himself, he couldn't help but to feel.......excited.

'I´ll defeat you! Right here and now!' Bakugo.

Bakugo got airborne again, he started to go higher and higher and then using the explosions he started to rotate his whole-body clock-wise to gain momentum. At difference from the canon his attack is almost two times bigger than the original.

'I'll reciprocate your fighting spirit! Bakugo!' Kaito.

Kaito gathered all his strength into his arms and hands to literally cut through Bakugo's attack.

The clash was getting each time closer and closer, Cementoss created somewhat of a barrier around the spectators, the only ones that could see anything were the ones that were watching the transmission and the UA staff.

Bakugo descends low enough to connect his attack and Kaito jumps raising his sword diagonally.

"HOWITZER IMPACT!!!" Bakugo reaches Kaito and delivers a gigantic explosion.

"SUN BREATHING: RAGING SUN!!!" Kaito unleashes two arced slashes with all his strength against Bakugo.

*BOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!*

The explosion generated a giant light pilar from the center of the stadium. The walls that Cementoss provided almost broke but fortunately it protected the civilians.

"WHAT WAS THAT! The explosion was devastating! The whole stage is destroyed!" Present-Mic panicked.

"OI! Midnight! Are you and the students all right!?" Aizawa.

"*COUGH*…*COUGH*…I'm all right but, I don't know about the students."

"Cementoss! Why didn't you intervene?" Midnight.

"Sorry! I thought that protecting the civilians was the priority, I know we have a duty as a teacher but also as heroes. Still, I'm sorry for my incompetence!" Cementoss apologized.

"Regardless of that, what about Kobayashi and Bakugo?" Aizawa was worried.

The smoke started to clear out and two silhouettes were standing.

Kaito has his sword was a little chipped from that attack and was stabbing something, Kaito was full of burning marks all over his body. Bakugo on the other hand had two huge semi-deep wounds that covered his abdominal region and extended to his upper back, he was bleeding but it was not life threatening, he also has Kaito's sword stabbed through his arm.

"Looks like...I won." Kaito said as he retracted his sword.

"I'll…win…next...time..." Bakugo spoke while losing consciousness and falling.

Kaito called Nezuko and took out a first aid kit and started to stop the Bakugo's bleeding.

"K-Katsuki Bakugo can no longer fight, the winner of this first-year sport festival is…Kobayashi Kaito!" Midnight.

"AMAZING! THE WINNER OF THIS FIRST-YEAR SPORTS FESTIVAL IS NONE OTHER THAN THE WILDEST CARD OF THEM ALL, KOBAYASHI KAITO IS THE WINNER!"

The crowd was speechless, their brains couldn't compute what just had happened. Suddenly Yagi starts clapping.

'Young Kobayashi, Young Bakugo, you two had done great.' Yagi keeps the applause.

Soon the whole crowd starts to cheer for Bakugo and Kaito. Kaito finishes with Bakugo's injuries and starts taking care of his own, soon some health robots appear and both of them are taken to recovery girl.

'This feels so nice, I wonder if you can see me…dad. I will pay tenfold for what you put mom through.' Kaito thought before falling asleep.

[After 20 minutes of healing.]

"It's the award ceremony! We will hand over the medals to these students that have reached this far!" Midnight announces and a platform opens form below showing 4 figures.

Kaito of course in the tallest pilar, Bakugo in the second place with an annoyed expression and lastly Todoroki and Tokoyami in the third place.

"And now to deliver the medals…"

"HAHAHAHA!" A voice sound from the top of the arena.

"I have come with the medals!" All Might appears with four medals.

"All Might will be the one to handle the medals." Midnight.

Kaito gave them a heads up in advance so that they could time right their lines. He did the same with the public and All Might so that he doesn't go through that shame.

"Now then, young Todoroki, Young Tokoyami, you've done well to reach this far, congratulations!" All Might puts the medals to Todoroki and Tokoyami.

"Young Todoroki, your performance was at the level of a pro, however, you need to come to terms with your fire or you won't be able to progress correctly." All Might hugs Todoroki.

"Yes."

"Young Tokoyami, you had a good control over your quirk, but, when facing your weakness you lose the edge, you should find a way to counter that or a fighting style for cases like that one."

"I'll do my best."

All Might went towards Bakugo.

"Young Bakugo, you were…" All Might was cut off.

"All Might! I will surpass you! And that's all that matters!" Bakugo stated.

"He-he, that's nice and all but you should focus on surpassing your classmates first."

Bakugo popped a vein after looking the smirk in Kaito's face.

"You should be less impulsive and treat your surroundings with more care, otherwise your opponent may take advantage from that." All Might tried to hug Bakugo but he kept growling.

All Might goes towards Kaito.

"Young Kaito, you have exceeded the expectations you were given when you entered UA. You have trained for so long and this is the result of your efforts, congratulations."

"But keep in mind the strength of your opponent, I fear that you'll never back down from a fight that you won't win."

'I'm sorry All Might, but even in an impossible fight I will never give up and if I have to sacrifice myself for others to live, then I wouldn't think twice.' Kaito whispers to All Might when he hugs him.

All Might is worried but he knows that UA will protect Kaito until he is strong enough to protect himself and the civilians.

"Here they are! The winners of this year's sports festival! But listen closely. Any of you first years could have ended up standing on these podiums. Think about what you've done today. You've challenged each other, learned, and climbed even closer toward your goals of being pros."

"I think the next generation of heroes is proving to be our most promising one yet! So, I have one more thing to say. I want to hear everyone yell it with me. You know what it is."

"PLUS ULTRA!!!" All Might.

"PLUS ULTRA!!!" Audience.

With that the sports festival was over, the smile of Kaito was seen in every television across the country, reaching the TV of a little white-haired girl with a horn in her forehead.

'What a kind smile.' The girl looked at Kaito's smile.

'I wish I could smile like him. If someone with a smile like him is becoming a hero, could he be the one to save me?' Thought the girl before turning the TV off and reaching her bed to sleep.
