To no one's surprise, Gary gave a different excise and refused to acknowledge the bet. Then Ash and Gary got in a yelling contest over the colouring of a Shiny Charizard.

Then they started yelling about something else. Finally they were just yelling nonsense.

"Will you to put a lid on it? The whole of Pallet Town can hear you screaming!" said Alex.

They both stopped yelling, but still stared daggers at each other. Eventually, Ash said goodbye to Charmander, who now was wary of letting Ash get within a few steps of it, and went back home.

"So, how was the Indigo League?" asked Alex.

"It was fine. The guy who got the 1st place was a 30 year old dude with a full team from the Hoenn region. That fact that he had the cheek to complete among people averaging half his age and grin smugly every time he beat someone was irritating to watch. The League was not happy with a full team of Hoenn Pokemon winning the Kanto league, I can tell you that" said Gary.

"Which Hoenn Pokemon?" enquired Alex.

"Blaziken, Sharpedo, Mightyena, Hariyama, Aggaron and Manectric. Did you not watch the broadcast yesterday?" asked Gary.

"I was busy with some stuff. I was planning to watch it later, but I don't want to after what you just said" said Alex.

"What is happening in the laboratory? Gramps was excited about some new project and was distracted the whole week. And after he returned to Pallet Town, he called Alakazam over to teleport him without having a break even" enquired Gary.

"We have discovered a previously unregistered species of Pokemon," said Alex mysteriously.

"What? Really! Tell me about it! yelled Gary.

"Nope. No can do. It's a secret" said Alex.

"Oh come on! I will know soon anyway. Plus, I just answered all your questions didn't I? pleaded Gary.

" Alright. It's called Politoed. Possibly another evolution of Poliwhirl. Still need to be sure though. Here, this is a picture" said Alex, handing Gary his Pokedex.

"Wow!" said Gary dreamily, looking fascinated by the picture.

"What next?" he asked handing the Pokedex back after a while.

"We are going to find a place called 'Frog King's Village' somewhere near Vermillion City to check if we can find some details, as there are accounts of a Pokemon that fits its description there" said Alex.

"Frog King's Village? I heard of it before" said Gary contemplating. Then he snapped his fingers and ran upstairs.

He then ran back down with a book in his hands. It was a children's book called 'Adventures of Dargonite.'

"Why did you bring this book?" asked Alex.

Gary flipped to a particular page and said and handed the book to Alex.

Alex took the book and started browsing. A paragraph on the page immediately attracted his attention.

"And thus, Dragonite having failed to convince the Frog King to hand over the necklace, decided to call on the army of Royal Heirs to besiege the Frog King's Village, fighting the army of frogs that defended it"

Alex looked at it and stayed silent.

"Could this mean something?" asked Gary excitedly.

Alex checked the back of the book. 'Oroyon Bookstore' was the name written for publishers.

"Is Oroyon Bookstore popular?" asked Alex.

"No. This book sucks too. My brother bought it from some random sale when he was visiting me, as he didn't know what to buy. I read it out of idle curiosity" replied Gary.

"Well, let's go and show this to Professor Oak. Maybe he can find this Oroyon Bookstore" said Alex.

Then the both of them proceed to Professor Oak's office.

"I just heard back from the people I assigned to this. Oroyon bookstore was established by John Wikerbush. He died over 20 years ago. All the remaining books he owned were donated to a local library. I assigned a mission in Correlation for finding more about John Wikerbush and his journals. But for now, that seems a dead end" said Professor Oak

"So we am I going to search for the Frog King's Village Professor?" asked Alex excitedly.

"Yes, you are. I will have two decent trainers go with you by releasing a task on Correlation. After you reach there, plant a Psychic marker using the instructions and items I will give you. I will have Alakazam teleport me over" said Professor Oak.

"Gramps! Can I go with Alex too?" asked Gary hopefully.

"Absolutely not Gary. You are not 10 yet" said Professor Oak.

"But I already read everything worth reading and have nothing interesting left to do. Do I still have to wait four years to get out?" asked Gary pitifully.

"If I had the final say, you would have to wait eight years" said Professor Oak calmly.

Gary left sulking. The Professor turned to Alex and said, "Prepare yourself, Alex. You will set off next week"
