Alex was waiting in the Pokemon Center in Vermillion City. 2 hours ago, Alakazam had teleported him to the Pokemon Center and vanished, not giving him a second glance.
It had been 5 days since Professor Oak started researching Politoed. Using microscopic comparison methods, he had determined that Politoed was the evolution of Poliwhirl. But the method of evolution was something he didn't have an idea how to find.
After waiting for 5 days, more details about John Wickerbush and the Frog Emperor's village came to light. Apparently, John got lost in the forest until he stumbled upon the Frog Emperor's Village. He stayed there for a while and left, not exploring the legends of the place thoroughly. He mentioned the legends of the Frog Emperor Village in his journal, and used its namesake when writing a book due to lack of other ideas. This was what the trainers who took up the mission of investigating John Wikerbush through Correlation concluded.
Having no other leads and being stuck in his research, Professor Oak decided to send a team to search for the Frog Emperor's Village. Alex was leading this team, not only because he was the finder of this clue, but also because he memorized the entire adventure journal of John Wikerbush, and even the Adventures of Dragonite for good measure.
Two trainers were issued a mission to assist him in his search for the Frog King's Village, and they would be arriving shortly.
Soon, his Pokedex vibrated. He opened it to see a message from one of his escorts, Luna Cross.
"I have arrived, and so has Hugh. Where are you?"
Alex closed the Pokedex and got up to meet with them.
5 minutes later, Alex was sitting in front of a 16 year old cheerful blonde girl and a 17 year old cold blue haired guy.
"I guess introductions are in order. My name is Alex, and I work for Professor Oak" said Alex.
"I am Luna. Pleased to meet you" said Luna.
"Hugh" printed Hugh.
"Alright then, I will explain what our mission is. From the journal of an old adventurer, we have information that there is a hidden village called the Frog King's Village somewhere in the forests northeast of Vermillion City. Our objective is to find that village. Then, I will deploy a Psychic ward that will allow the Professor to teleport himself over, and our mission will be done" said Alex.
"What is the village we are searching for?" asked Luna.
"Unfortunately, other than its name, the fact that it has numerous members of the Poliwag line nearby, and its idol of worship, we have no other clue" said Alex.
"Why are you here?" asked Hugh.
"I have read the journal and another work by the author. I believe I can find the village using some stated landmarks. Besides, I know how to deploy a complicated Psychic ward" said Alex.
"So, I will leave the planning and execution of our combing through the forests to you, though I ask you to heed the landmarks I may recognise" said Alex after a moment. "After the Psychic ward is deployed, your mission is completed and you will be free to go" he concluded.
"Tomorrow morning. Luna, prepare" said Hugh and went upstairs to the room he had booked.
"What Hugh means is that we set off tomorrow morning. I will have to shop for some wilderness supplies," said Luna.
"Can you tell me what and all I need? Like tents, sleeping bags, and other things. I do not have them" asked Alex.
"Sure, you can join me while shopping" said Luna.
The next day, the three of them got up early and packed their bags. They then went towards the north of Vermillion City and entered the forests to the east.
"How deep do you think the village will be in the forest?" asked Luna while they were walking.
"Not clear. The journal said 'a three day journey', but who knows if that John Wikerbush has a Dragonite with him and it took 3 days for the Dragonite?" said Alex.
As they neared the forest, Luna released a Butterfree, while Hugh released a Pidgeot.
A brief scan by Alex revealed that they were level 42 and 44 respectively, with Green potential.
"Do you have any Pokemon?" asked Luna.
"Only my starter. But the Professor gave me one of his Pokemon for my safety" revealed Alex, patting the grey coloured Pokeball he had attached to his belt.
The three of them then walked into the forest. Lina asked Buterfree to stay high and sent out a Budew, which she said she intended to train.
Hugh also released a Tyrouge.
"So what is your starter?" asked Luna.
"You would be surprised" said Alex proudly, as he threw out his Pokeball at the lone Beedrill that happened to cross his path.
"Go Charmander" he yelled, as the golden bipedal lizard came out of the Pokeball, much to the astonishment of the other two.
"Yup" muttered Alex, patting the grey Pokeball on his waist.
