Chapter 77 Avery

The library in Heccarte is not that big however no one can't deny that the establishment itself looks too luxurious for a mere library. Its made of cobblestone and some reddish gems are symmetrically place in each of the columns that support the whole building. These gems serves as a conduit for magic that are being use to power the entire facility.

"Hurry up Avery, were not here for sight seeing, if not for Alger I won't even bother bringing you here." An armless blond elf said while gesturing to his companion.

"Why are you always so uptight Clyde, relax a little will you?" Avery retorted.

"Yeah, yeah, just hurry up and go find the books in the list that I gave you." Clyde ordered.

"Why do you even need all of these books for? There's almost two dozens in the list." Avery complained. "W-wait, where are you going?" she added when she see that Clyde is heading towards another room, meaning she need to find all these books by herself.

"Stop asking too many questions if you want me to help you train later. Find the books before I go back." Clyde said, after saying his piece he hurriedly goes to another room.

"That bastard..." Avery muttered.

Avery can't help but to take a glance at the room where Clyde went. The moment the door gives a little opening, she saw a human and an elf sitting inside the room however Clyde quickly closed the door behind him.

'Who are those people?' Avery wondered. Without wasting her time too much she just shrugged and reluctantly find the books one by one in the list that Clyde gave her.

Since Clyde owes Alger a huge favor that time he helped them against Camilla, he was forced to take Avery under his wings in order to train her and teach her about the different monsters in Zirracania. Since Avery is the only grand daughter of Alger, he's doing all his best to prepare the girl when the time comes that she need to step up and take the mantle of being a Guild Leader of Hallows Guild.

Avery accepted her grand father's request however she did not expects to be an errand girl in her first day of training. She prefer to learn more through combat experience than to read boring books all day.

"Hah... I'm bored..." Avery complained while she melts on the comfy chair in the library.

Its not even that long before she started reading the first batch of books she got. Instead of studying, she started examining all the people that are reading in the library.

"85%..." Avery muttered when she looks at an orc whose guarding the entrance.

"25%..." She muttered when she looks at a frail elf with spectacle whose reading a book.

"60%... no, maybe 70%?" She muttered when she looks at the dwarf whose talking to the librarian.

"80%... no, 90%? No, more like close to 100%!" She exclaimed when she looks at a red headed girl that's trying to reach a book in one of the library shelf. 'Is that a human, here in Heccarte in all of places?' she added inwardly.

"Ssshhhhh!" The librarian hushed the excited azure haired girl.

Avery gave the librarian an acknowledging nod before turning her gaze away due to embarrassment.

'Will she accepts if I challenge her to a friendly duel? She looks strong and she looks like a swordsman as well.' Avery said inwardly while assessing the red haired girl whose also carrying a sword around her waist.

After a few minutes of deliberation, Avery stands up and steel her resolve. She decides to introduce herself and if possible to challenge the red haired girl. Of course if the girl declines she won't push the matter but she hopes she accepts the challenge since she feel that she might die from boredom when she return to reading books again.

Avery follows the red headed girl back to her table.

"C-Cleo! What are you doing here?" Avery asked when she saw the red headed girl's company.

"Ssshhhhh!" The librarian hushed the flustered azure haired girl once again.

"What are you doing here?" Avery whispered this time.

'Shit! I even purposely chose this side of the library to hide from them.' Cleo cursed inwardly.

"Who are you?" Leah intervened while raising one of her eyebrow. "Darling, care to explain and why she's acting too familiar with you?" she added, her eyebrow started twitching.

"Calm down Leah, we're inside the library. Let's go out for now." Cleo said while trying his best to defuse the situation.

Leah and Avery agree with Cleo's proposal and besides they don't want to attract more unnecessary attention, especially the strict librarian.

The three heads outside and proceed to find an open area. After a few minutes of strolling they chose to talk at the park near the library.
