"Kowtow"

Lai Jiayi's right hand was trembling as she slowly took off her mask. 

The girl still had her head lowered but then when she abruptly raised her head– it caught Zhao Yang's eyes. 

The man suddenly snapped awake from his thought. When he realized that Lai Jiayi finally revealed her face, he was stunned for a moment. 

Zhao Yang's eyes were filled with the sight of a young woman who had a completely different vibe from his lover. 

Under the dim white light of the elevator, the girl's face shone. Her face was like that of an elegant goddess, looked slightly intimidating but also had an 'innocent, pure' feeling on it. 

Two almond-shaped amber eyes that looked like sweet honey on his lover's face looked like the eye of a tiger instead of this girl. 

Indeed she had a similarly 'weak' vibe due to her trembling body but…

That pair of eyes was something else. He could see a strange determination and a slight fear inside it.

"B-boss! P-please, FORGIVE ME!!!" Her voice was so loud that Zhao Yang flinched in shock. 

The man subconsciously covered his ears as his eyes landed on the girl kowtowing a few times in front of him. 

Her forehead already started to turn purple, seemingly bruised, yet the girl didn't have any intention to stop. 

Looking at the girl's trembling body with her false bravado to apologize, Zhao Yang felt a pang to his heart. 

"...stop it. Stand up." The man waved his hand carelessly as he spoke in a flat, cold tone. 

People would feel that the man was so heartless to speak like that to a girl who was kowtowing in front of him, begging for mercy, but if one looked closer, there's a hint of impatience in his eyes. 

He seemed to be urging the girl to stop hurting herself just to apologize to him. 

Hearing this, Lai Jiayi bit her lips and shook her head while still kept her face down. 

With a resolute tone of voice, she spoke again, "T-this lowly one will not s-stand up until b-boss forgives m-me!" 

'You! So stubborn!' 

Zhao Yang had the urge to grab the girl's back collar and made her stop doing this embarrassing thing. 

'If others saw this, they would think that I'm a mafia boss or something!' 

The word 'mafia' suddenly irked him as he recalled a certain thing. 

Thus the man impatiently said, 

"Yes, yes, I forgive you now, stand up!" His voice was a bit higher than before as he said the last sentence. 

He couldn't stand the treatment of a cold tyrant. 

'Does this girl think I'm that eager to get an apology?' 

The thought of someone with a similar eye to his lover had this kind of mindset once again irritated him. 

With a glare, the man looked down on Lai Jiayi with his towering figure. 

The difference in their height added more pressure to Lai Jiayi. The moment she lifted her face and saw Zhao Yang's utterly cold face, she almost fainted. 

'Why the hell does he look unhappy?? Ah ah, what if the barometer dropped?? I should just stop this act!' 

"Y-yes, yes, boss!" Lai Jiayi hurriedly stood up and moved backward for several steps. 

'But the barometer hasn't risen...I should keep doing this..and also make him nod! That's my mission!' 

"B-boss, do you really forgive me? I-I am sorry I drop you before...I-i was s-shocked…" Lai Jiayi spoke again as she looked up to the man. Her voice suddenly became soft and tender. 

Using a puppy-eyes begging technique, the girl slightly cast down her eyebrows as her eyelids trembled. 

Didn't stop at that, Lai Jiayi blinked her pair of honey-like eyes that slowly became teary. 

She was staring straight into Zhao Yang's eyes with that puppy-like eyes. 

The sight of a fierce, stubborn baby tiger suddenly became a meek lamb sent another pang to Zhao Yang's heart. 

'...damn it. That's not fair!'
