Chapter 6

~26th February 2XXX~

"Izuku! It's already six, you need to wake up! Else you will be late for your entrance exam!"

The eyes of Izuku Midoriya snapped wide open at his mother's shout, then flitted over to the digital clock resting on his bed's headboard. Three minutes past six.

He sat up, rubbing his eyes tiredly. He'd had difficulty sleeping last night, his nerves kept him up. It became much better since the fateful day, but he still wasn't over his nervousness.

Today was the day. The day he would be taking the U.A. High School entrance exam. A day when he would finally show off the results of his hard work over the last few months.

Standing up, he grabbed his Aldera Junior High School Uniform and dressed, while his mind was busy thinking about the upcoming exam.

There was no doubt in his mind that he would succeed in the academic part of the exam, but he wasn't so sure about the practical one. Naturally, he scoured the internet for every bit of information about the practical part. But the previous contestants were very tightlipped since you had to sign a non-disclosure form with your U.A. Application.

The only thing he knew was, that it was some kind of combat scenario. Unsure whether his months of focused training would make up for the years of experience the other contestants had with their Quirk, made his nerves obviously act up.

Now fully dressed, he headed to the kitchen, where his mother had already prepared a bowl of Katsudon. His favorite dish. A bit heavy for a normal breakfast, but he had a long day ahead.

"Are you ready for today, Sweetie?" asked his Mother while looking nervous herself.

"Yeah, I prepared my bag already yesterday."

He finished his breakfast quickly, inhaling the Katsudon, then washing it all down with some green tea. His backpack waited for him by the corridor, packed with Notebooks, clothes for the physical part, and a bento.

At seven, he decided to depart. He grabbed a jacket from the Wardrobe against the February chill, then tugged on his shoes and made to leave.

"Good Luck, Izuku." Wished his mother as he was opening the door, she stood by the living room door and smiled at him. "I am so proud of you."

A smile appeared on his face, "Thanks, mom."

~U.A. Entrance~

Izuku arrived at the entrance of U.A. slightly out of breath, staring at the massive building and the proportional large gate. The place was packed with hopeful and excited high schoolers. After making sure he carried his Student ID in his pocket, he walked through the gates and towards the large doors with U.A. emblazoned on them.

Closing his eyes as he prepared himself of stepping into the large building, taking his first step toward being a Hero. Then he heard a familiar sharp voice.

"What the fuck are you doing here, Deku? Didn't I make myself clear when I told you to fuck off from the exam?"

For a moment he was about to fall into panic again, he was able to avoid Bakugo for the last 10 months mostly, but this confrontation was only a matter of time. Then he remembered that he wasn't useless anymore. He had his own power, no need to fear Bakugo anymore.

"Who are you that I have to listen to you?" asked Izuku, now full of courage that he built over the last months, "You are nothing here, just another applicant or Student with good potential."

"DEKU WHO THE FUCK YOU THINK YOU ARE?" shouted Bakugo now pissed off. How dare that quirkless extra talk back to him.

"Gonna try to set me on fire Kacchan?" grinned Izuku as he put extra emphasis on the last word, "This isn't Aldera High anymore with shitty teachers. They won't look away because you have a nice Quirk. Still want to try anything?" knowing fully that U.A. didn't allow any fighting and was ready to expel any Students that breach the rules.

For a moment it looked as if Bakugo was about to attack him before his rationality won over him. Bakugou simply gave him a sneer before walking past him and into U.A. high.

"Welcome to the real world!" said Izuku as he watched the back of the explosive teen.

"That was close. I thought he would attack you." Said a female voice from behind Izuku.

Behind him stood a short and slender brown-haired girl with a perpetual pink blush on her cheeks who smiled at him. "You all right?"

"Oh, yeah. That was nothing new. He is always that way." Replied Izuku as his thoughts returned after a moment. 'I am talking with a girl.' He realized, although possessing powers and his training made him more confident, he still had no experience with the other gender. Talking with her was a first for him.

"That's awful. Hopefully, I won't be in the same class as him. Well if I get in." She added with an embarrassed blush. "I'm so nervous. Bet you are too."

Izuku nodded as he replied. "Yes, this is U.A. after all, there is probably no one who isn't nervous. Eh, I am Midoriya Izuku by the way." He introduced himself remembering his manners.

"Ah, I am Uraraka Ochako. Nice to meet you." She replied with a bright smile, "You are probably right. Well, Good Luck! Later!"

"You too!" said Izuku with an excited smile, 'I had a real conversation with a cute girl!' he realized as he entered the building following the instruction to his written exam area.

"That jerk! He is already ahead." cried a Midget, with large purple balls on his scalp who watched the interaction between the two of them from a bit away.

~Later~

For the written portion of the exam, they were given assigned seating as well as writing utensils to prevent cheating. Izuku easily completed each assignment, being tied for number one for most of his middle school as well as studying hard for it, made it easy.

After a short lunch break which he consumed the bento he brought, he headed for the practical part of the exam. As the Students entered the huge auditorium, everyone had to look for their seat, since they were also assigned.

Izuku went towards his seat and found himself next to Bakugo once again, who stared balefully at him with red eyes before he tried his best to ignore him.

"Must be by school." Muttered Izuku as he sat down in his own seat, looking at the pamphlet all students got before they sat down.

It wasn't long before the lights dimmed a little and the spotlights all shone at one place, the center stage, revealing the Pro-Hero Present Mic.

"WELCOME TO MY LIVE SHOW! EVERYBODY SAY HEY!" shouted Present Mic before cupping his ear towards the crowd just to hear deathly silence all over the Auditorium.

"I'VE GOT THE SHIVERS DOWN TO MY SPINE TOO, LISTENERS!" shouted Present Mic as he just shook it off. "ALL RIGHT EXAMINEES. I'M GONNA GIVE YOU THE LOW-DOWN ON HOW THIS WILL GO DOWN! ARE YOU READY!?"

Present Mic then proceeded to explain how the exam would work, the television behind him playing to help illustrate his point. There were seven examination sites, meaning they would all be randomized into different sites.

"They don't intend on letting classmates or friends cooperate with each other, huh?" muttered Katsuki as he peeked over to Izuku's ticket number and frowned. He was in site A, as it should be as he was the number one and A was the first letter. Izuku, however, was at site B. As an extra, it suited him, but Katsuki wanted to directly crush Izuku and his newfound balls.

Present Mic continued his explanation, using Super Mario Bros villain to help illustrate the point system for the robots.

"YOUR GOAL IS TO RACK UP A HIGH SCORE! AND DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT ATTACKING OTHER COMPETITORS DIRECTLY OR ANY OTHER NASTY ANTI-HERO STUFF, BECAUSE THAT'S AGAINST THE RULE, CAPISCE!?"

Once Present Mic finished the explanation, he waited a few seconds to let it sink in. Then he noticed a student stand up and raise his hand.

"Excuse me, may I ask a question?" stated the student, standing tall with combed black hair and a rather rectangular figure, as his jaw, glasses, and eyes were all rectangular shaped.

Present Mic nodded, accepting the question, "On the handouts, there are clearly four types of villains listed! Such an Error would be the height of embarrassment for a Top Tier National Academy of U.A.'s caliber! The reason we are seated here today is that we seek guidance on the path of becoming model heroes!"

"OKAY, OKAY," waved Present Mic calming the overly excited student down, "THANKS FOR THE SPEECH, EXAMINEE 7111. FOR YOU SEE, THAT FOURTH VILLAIN IS WORTH 0 POINTS! HE'S MORE OF AN OBSTACLE, SO TO SPEAK. EVER PLAY SUPER MARIO BROS.? I DOUBT IT SINCE IT'S RATHER RETRO."

Most of the crowd doubted that there was anyone that had not played or at least heard of the famous game.

"YOU REMEMBER THOSE THINGS THAT WOULD GO THWOMP ON YOU? THERE'S A THING LIKE THAT IN EACH AREA! THEIR 'GIMMICK' IS THAT THEY'LL RAMPAGE WHEN IT GETS CROWDED! IT'S NOT IMPOSSIBLE TO DEFEAT, BUT THERE'S NO REASON TO DEFEAT IT, EITHER!"

"I see… They sound like one of those Stage Hazards you just have to slip through and avoid." Muttered someone as the glassed Student apologized for his interruption.

With a flourish, he decided to finish this up, "WELL THAT'S ENOUGH FROM ME! FINALLY, I'LL GIVE YOU LISTENERS A PRESENT – OUR SCHOOL MOTTO! THE HERO NAPOLEON BONAPARTE ONCE SAID: 'A TRUE HERO NEVER STOPS OVERCOMING THE MISFORTUNES IN LIFE!'

His sunglasses dipped down so he could leer at them for a second, "NOW LET'S MOVE TO THE MAIN EVENT, PLUS ULTRA!"

With a flourish, the screen behind him changed, and a small animation with the letters Plus Ultra appeared.

"AND MAY YOU ALL SUFFER GLADLY THE TRIALS TO COME!"
