Introspection

Isaac calmed down and tried to enter a state of meditation again; when he focused, he could see the blurry figure once more. After he confirms that he is not hallucinating, he tries to change his posture and observe the blurry figure.

The figure's posture was changing the same as his, cementing that what he is seeing is a visualization of his body. After some trials, he discovered that there are two modes in which this visualization can manifest. The first is that when he focuses his concentration on the moving lights circulating in the figure's body, the figure becomes more illusory and the circulating lights become clearer.

He could ascertain about a dozen dull spots of light in the head area, and he could also see bundles of gray spots all over the human figure, concluding that these spots may be referring to his genetic base points since the points on the head are lit.

The second way is that when he focuses on the body of the figure, the illusory body parts become more realistic and provide a real overview of his body's structure. In such a state, Isaac could clearly see everything that was happening within his body. Observing his muscles, joints, and inguinal lymph nodes was a trivial task that included his capillaries and the movement of his blood.

He decided to call this new ability "introspection," with the first being "illusory introspection" and the second being "realistic introspection.".

'Exploring this realistic introspection will advance my knowledge of the human body by leaps,' thought Isaac as he was evaluating this new ability.

He shifts his attention to illusory introspection. When he was in a state of high concentration during his illusory introspection, the hazy flashes of light that made up the human figure gradually became clearer.

Most of the flashes of light were standard gray. However, the lights in the two areas were different.

One was the dozen spots of light that he assumed represented the genetic base points he activated. They were a dull white.

The second area was the midsection of the human figure. It would flicker with pale white light at an unstable frequency.

The direction of this white light was unpredictable. However, more than a third of it would flow toward the head. The rest of the light would be split into a dozen groups and flow toward his chest and abdomen, then toward his limbs.

'Maybe this flickering light is the way energy is circulating in my body' thought Isaac as he continued his observation. This conjecture came about as he saw that the light originates from the area where the intestines are located. The food is digested in the stomach and absorbed by the body in the small intestines, explaining the origin of the flashing lights.

The flickering white light that was being released flowed into his head, then split into three. The largest bundle of white light flowed throughout every inch of his head before disappearing.

A smaller portion of energy flowed into the genetic base points that he activated. The white light that emanated from the genetic base point seemed to become ever so slightly brighter. He counted them to be 14 points.

The smallest portion of energy flowed into the gray spots around the activated genetic base points, then vanished without a trace. The gray spots trembled slightly before becoming still again.

During this observation process, Isaac made another discovery.

His consciousness, or perhaps his concentration, could influence the direction of the white light supply pulsing out of his abdomen, making it travel toward a desired part to a certain extent. 

'If that is the case...' Isaac suddenly had an extremely bold thought; however, he stopped himself before doing anything reckless. After dying due to an experiment in his previous life, he became more cautious. He may have appeared reckless when he administered the elixirs; however, that was done after numerous experiments, and while he may have appeared hasty in taking those elixirs, he was under pressure from the knowledge of the future he possessed.

Knowing he was in the dangerous world of Marvel, he was slightly hasty. Now that there are some results, his cautious nature has surfaced again.

'I will just increase the rate of the light going around the 14 genetic bases slightly' deciding on the course of action, he concentrated on the flowing lights going to the head and focused them on the gray spots in the immediate surroundings of the other activated point.

These gray spots absorbed the lights flowing into them and became a little brighter, with one in particular having the most change. While observing and slowing down the flow of light, Isaac suddenly felt a slight weakness in his body and a light headache. As soon as he noticed this development, he stopped what he was doing and exited his meditation state.

After regaining his bearings, he felt an intense hunger, as if he hadn't eaten for days.

'Fortunately, I was cautious enough. If I had recklessly controlled all the flow of light in my body, I would have starved myself to death.' Isaac thought. This also confirmed his conjecture that the flowing light is the energy circulation of his body.

'I have to find a way to increase the amount of energy intake and do some more tests' thought Isaac as he went to the kitchen to get some food. After eating, he thought to hurry to the lab and continue his tests; however, he decided to give his body some rest first as he has gone through a lot of changes today.

The next day, he woke up slightly late in the afternoon feeling refreshed, affirming that he was really in need of rest yesterday. After having a sumptuous breakfast and eating a lot more than he usually does, he hurried to his lab.

Along the way, his heightened senses pick up numerous sensory inputs, making him uncomfortable as he is not yet used to them being so keen, and today they are enhanced more than yesterday. He can also feel the number of people around him, even if he is not looking in their direction, if they come close.

After reaching his laboratory and closing the door, he sighs in relief, as he is still not used to the heightened sensory perception.

Today he decided to overhaul an elixir that was invented in his previous life. Its use was to give patients in a coma enough nutrients and energy instead of using IV drips because they couldn't eat. Although he didn't focus on studying it in the past, he knows the formula as it was not too complicated, and with some trial and error, he could recreate it perfectly.

He sent some people to collect some medicines and herbs and stayed till sunset until he produced the elixir, deciding to call it the Energy Restoration Elixir.

After synthesizing some energy restoration lixirs and doing a quick check-up on himself, he returns home with the elixirs to do more tests with his new ability.

After taking an elixir, he sits cross-legged, inhaling through his nose and exhaling through his mouth. The long breaths allowed Isaac to completely relax his mind and body and enter a meditative state within a few seconds.

In his illusory introspective state, he observes the circulating lights moving on the illusory figure, confirming that it represents the circulating energy in his body.

He shifts his focus to the activated genetic base points in the head, and after observing them, he concentrates on the nearest gray spot that was slightly brighter after the previous night's actions.

'This point has the most noticeable change; let's focus on it today' after deciding in his heart. He focuses on the gray spot, and the energy circulating in his body begins to move towards it. After a while, he began to feel hungry again, so he stopped and woke up to take another elixir, then continued his actions.

As the gray spot flickered and lit up, Isaac's heart raced. The sudden headache was a sharp reminder of the risks involved, but the exhilaration of unlocking a new ability overshadowed his fear. For the first time since his reincarnation, he felt a surge of hope and empowerment.

He felt as though his surroundings had become more vibrant and lifelike. Isaac suddenly realized the source of this strange sensation when the scene in the room appeared vaguely within his mind. even the scenery behind him where he is not looking in that direction.

He closed his eyes in excitement to test his theory, and as he suspected he could still see the surroundings, he did some measuring and concluded that the area 3 meters around him could be clearly sensed by him.

'Felt would be a more apt description, as I am just having a vague feeling outlining the existence of the objects in the surroundings. Now that's a useful ability to have' thought Isaac, marveling at the new sensations he is feeling.

Isaac started to believe that this ability of "Introspection" is more significant than he was previously giving it credit for.
