Lilian was starting to come down with a cold. Allen noticed her hugging herself, with goosebumps on her upper arm, and directed the Chauffeur to adjust the air conditioner to a warmer setting. He took off his suit jacket and draped it over her bare shoulders. His eyes kept returning to her at regular intervals until he could no longer resist his concern.
He embraced her tightly, hoping to share his body heat with her. Lilian, unable to resist, was shivering with cold, her teeth chattering. When the Chauffeur reached her apartment, Lilian, her hand trembling, asked him to stop. She had reached her home and wanted to get out.
Despite her difficulties with the door, Allen got out, assisted her, pulling her into a gentle side hug, and hastened their steps towards her door.
She took out the key to unlock the door, but her hands were shaking uncontrollably.
