19: Another One

[Chapter 19: Another One]

Loki looked out of the window of his spaceship. Out in the darkness of space, a vast expense of stars shone with a myriad of colors, each bringing out an ethereal aura. "A new adventure," he murmured, looking at the round planet in his sight.

It was around the same size as Midgard but with a brown and red color palette. Just with the deformed appearance of the planet, one could imagine its state. Pure apocalypse. The Vorcillians before Asgard's arrival were in anarchy, but this, this was something completely different.

Unlike the green-skinned beings, the aliens living there were not something deserving of order. No, for the chaos they had made, only annihilation awaited them! And this was Loki's mission, creating a new Niflheim.

Niflheim is known as one of the nine/ten realms, but the name was actually just its state. Its name before turning into a Niflheim was Helheim. But all life had been lost during the long war waging the ten realms.

Nothing remained alive. No plants, no insects, no soldiers. Life was inexistent, and maybe because of the uniqueness of Yggdrasil, it had turned into a pit of death. The air reeked of coldness, laws twisted, dead, screaming in suffering. It is said that a portion of Ginnungagap descends every time a Niflheim is made.

Odin's order was for Loki to annihilate the apex race of monsters on that planet. Because yes, monsters was the only for them as they held low intelligence and relied only on their instinct of pure madness.

Having sawn an image of them, Loki wouldn't be surprised if someone told him they were distant relatives of an Outer God. They looked like wrong-birthed dogs, with almost no meat on them. They were skinny but with blood-red eyes. Their skin was of a pale pink color with stains of ugly brown. They have long teeth tainted by the red moon. They have an uncountable number of tails, each looking like the tentacles of Cthulhu but with many spiders' eyes on them. They also have black horns on their head, and the more one has, the stronger it is.

Loki has no idea why, but apparently, the Bifrost has no way to destroy that planet. Was it too far away? Was it an energy in the air blocking the Bifrost's energy? Loki shook his head. There must be a reason why Odin sent him, if there truly was something capable of blocking the Bifrost, then it must be much stronger than what Loki can handle, so Odin wouldn't have sent him.

He slowly made his way toward one of the training rooms on the spaceship. The room was all black with neon lights on the wall. On metal shelves were various boxes. Loki went to the shelf with the number one and took out his box.

In it sat, on a blue cushion, a metallic spear with crimson cracks. While not the spear that would become his symbol of power, like Odin's Gungnir, it was still a really good one. It did not have much enchantment except for one that made the spear always return to him when thrown. It also permits him to localize it.

He gripped it in his hand and walked toward one brown dummy with transparent strings moving it. Loki took a deep breath before slashing the air with a vertical movement. The air shrieked but it did nothing else.

He sighed, "Damn." Since he had figured out his divinities, Loki was trying to use them, but it didn't work. While he had gotten a bit better at using magic, this was all. He could not tap into his divine energies, not even a drop.

Telling himself that the time would soon come, and he wouldn't need it now anyway, Loki resumed his training. He used his illusions to create an avatar that would fight against him. In his long studies, he had become able to make his illusions somewhat tangible. He was just bombarding magic in it, making it so that the avatar's punch would create a friction of magic against him.

But it still did not make much difference to train new techniques, as Loki always knew what the avatar was going to do because he was the one manipulating it. Thus, he decided to train against his avatar without using most of the functions of his brain. He was manipulating the avatar with most of his concentration, while he purely relied on his instinct to dodge the blows. Because the blows would hurt, it made him train his instincts.

Hours passed, and he received the news that they had just arrived. Being worn up by the intense training in both magical and physical departments, Loki told the few sorcerers to scribe down recognition runes on the ground.

They would first inspect the terrain before going in. A bit later, he summoned his serpents, not the Jormungandr as it's always with him, and instructed them to find out about the fauna in the surroundings.

And again, hours later, as the night blocked the rays of the sun, they received signals from the runes telling them that they had been found out, even though the spaceship was invisible.

Without having time to think, his voice rang all over the spaceship. "Prepare all weapons, we have been found out! I want one battalion per door, except for the main one where battalions 1 and 6 will be! Osi will be coming with me to the main door!"

Hearing his order, the sound of metal steps walking all over the spaceship rang. With their weapons in their hands, they ran toward their battalions' doors. In total, there were 10 battalions, with each having twenty Asgardians. In each battalion, there was a minimum of one sorcerer, but for most, it was two. There were ten doors in the spaceship, named, A, B, C, … So, one stayed closed.

Three minutes passed before all the Soldiers were ready, but during that time, loud growls and banging were heard.

"Kill them all!"
