Chapter 23 - Exploring A New Home (2)

Stepping into the library she was instantly surprised by how massive it was— but even above that— she was surprised by the design of the room.

The library, unlike the other rooms so far, had a more grandiose design to it.

With large dark wooden bookshelves meant to give off an overwhelming feeling to someone of her size, along with a wide ceiling that was seemingly enchanted to look like a night sky filled with stars to light up the room.

And much more.

It really suited the word, Grand Library, which could be used to describe it.

But it still had that hint of old antique style to it— something she assumed the old man couldn't help but do— maybe it was his entire style.

She glanced around further and noticed small couches littered around the sides of the room for someone to sit on and read the books if they were so pleased.

And while she would have loved to read through some of the books the place had to offer, she decided to just skim it somewhat before heading off.

Walking forward she ran her hand along the sides of the books as she walked.

The place had all sorts of books to offer, from theories to history— to even autobiographies and encyclopedias— all sorts of books were stored on the vast shelves.

She skimmed through the entire first floor when she came to the understanding that— there weren't any magic books there. While disappointed at first, she decided to hold off on any final mood decisions until she checked out the second floor.

Which she decided to head up to now.

The stairway to the second floor was rather small— only big enough for one person to go up at a time— which goes to show that this place wasn't made for a lot of people.

It was specifically made for herself and Albus, maybe a few others he would invite from time to time to aid in 'training' her.

She said training because she knew for a fact that the man would attempt to use his manipulative plans to try and get her along his ideals, his, 'Greater Good' ideas.

But she didn't care about that, so she ignored the thoughts.

Walking up the dark wood stairway, she came up to the second layer of bookshelves— shelves that were made into the walls of the room— resulting in it having a lot less than the floor below.

But as soon as she started skimming through the books, she found that it was definitely more rich with magical knowledge than the first floor had.

Spellbooks, charms, alchemy, item crafting, and much more.

The second floor had books on all types of spells, from basic spell books that Hogwarts thought, to more in-depth explanations about certain types of spells or certain spells.

She was sure that it had nothing too powerful or dangerous, she knew that Albus wouldn't be that foolish to do so— this was just to tease her— to offer her a carrot on a stick.

And she was going to use that carrot and stick however she wanted.

So with a smile, she placed the book she took back on the shelf and turned around.

While she would have loved to instantly dive into these books and just digest all the spell information they had in them. She couldn't just yet because she still had to explore the house.

Grumbling to herself at her own convictions, she decided to head back down the stairs and out of the room.

The last door on the right side was all that was left, so she decided to get it over with quickly.

Opening it she stepped in.

She was quite disappointed that it wasn't as outstanding as the other rooms, bringing what seemed like a simple office for Albus.

It was surprisingly neat for an old man's office, with a simple wooden desk to the side of the room overlooking a window that peered outside, and a chair behind the desk.

A table with another couch that was for resting or guests, along with a small bookshelf and cabinet to the side.

There were other minor decorations but she decided not to spend too much time exploring the office since there wasn't much to do.

Plus it was Albus's office and she doubt that he would want her to be going through his stuff. Though she was certain it was mostly just minor Hogwarts stuff.

So after glancing around for a bit, she decided to leave the office and explore elsewhere, and maybe she would sneak back in her at a later date to explore around.

So, she left the room.

'I wonder where the old man is.'

She thought to herself as she looked around for Albus who she hadn't seen since they came here. Only to find him resting in the living room with a cup of tea in hand, enjoying himself.

"So how is it— finish exploring?"

He asked her once he noticed her at the door, only for her to shake her head no.

"No this place is just so big compared to how it looks, how is that possible?"

She asked with faked ignorance, pretending to be mesmerized by the existence of magic she already knew about.

"Well, that is simply some extension charm my dear— I'm sure you'll learn about it when you start going to Hogwarts."

He said with a friendly smile, causing her to nod her head in reply. Still keeping up the act.

"I am going to keep exploring the place, bye-bye ~"

She said to him as she turned to run off, but before she did she heard him interject something quickly.

"While you're exploring you should check out your room— it's the last door to the right on the second floor. Tell me if you like it or want anything changed— anything at all— and I'll get it done."

Her interest was peaked when he mentioned her room. She was quite excited to finally have a room for herself— one that she could decorate and use however she wanted since she had never had that before in this life or the last.

And no, the room she was kept in before doesn't count since she couldn't decorate it or use it however she wanted. It was less of a room and more like a prison.

So with an excited nod, she left the room in order to keep on exploring, heading towards the first door on the left.
