House of the Rising Sun

You know, I was fascinated with vampires when I was a kid. The thought of power and good looks made me want to be one. That is, until I actually became one. Suddenly Lestat’s musings of an eternity being lonely became too real. Waking up in a forest who would have thought I’d run into ‘that’ family. I’d strangle the one that sent me here if she hadn’t trapped me in a world full of bullshit magic, doppelgängers, and broody vampires. *Status: Complete* *Sequel Pending*

The Noble & The Hybrid

Waking up the next morning with Katherine in my arms was almost surreal. I nearly forgot that we were both vampires and for a moment I felt like I was alive again.

Stepping out of the bed after carefully untangling myself from her side I washed up and got dressed. Stepping out of the hotel I bought flowers at a stall before returning to the room. Katherine was still asleep so I left her a note along with the flowers stating that I would be back in the afternoon. I stepped back out again and made my way to the Mikaelson compound.

Elijah and Klaus kept their distance, they told me that Rebekah had gone out with Marcel accompanying her. We went to Klaus' study to begin discussing our plans for luring their father to New Orleans.

We decided that it would be better if Rebekah was the one to do it as Mikael would be least likely to kill her. We made up a story about how Klaus had finally betrayed her one too many times and she wanted to be free of him. Klaus protested but Elijah pointed out that it was a perfectly plausible story. We took a break from the planning as Klaus had humans brought in for us to feed on. When we had our fill of blood and the humans were compelled and led away they began to ask me questions.

"So why did you disappear all those years ago? You could have helped us when we first turned."

"To be honest I wanted to avoid your mother."

I decided that a little truth would help me in the long run.

"But why?"

"Your mother was a witch was she not?"

"She was one of the more powerful witches," Klaus started.

"Only our aunt Dahlia was stronger."

"Did the two of you know that a witch is able to identify a vampire by touch? From your expressions I take it that you didn't, what do you think would have happened had I stayed?"

"You would have been found out, and hunted down."

"Exactly, powerful as I may be, I would not want to test a witch's ability to make our lives difficult. So I ran back into the woods."

"How are you stronger than us, we're the first vampires?"

"Klaus, you were the first vampires to your knowledge, I've been around longer than you have."

'By a few days.' I mentally added, but not that they'll ever know. I pulled out a few gold coins and set them on the table. Elijah picks up a coin and reads the letters stamped into the gold.

"But these coins are stamped with ancient greek letters. They are easily over a thousand years older than us."

"And I have plenty more in my vaults. I kept them as a keepsake."

I wasn't going to mention that the coins were Silas'. I mean I didn't like when I said I kept them as a keepsake. Klaus looked at one of the coins.

"You can keep that one."

He quickly pockets the coin as I levitate the rest back into my coat pocket. Elijah looks at the coins floating through the air.

"And that, how are you doing that?"

"The same way you can compel people. It's a power that I developed over time. Speaking of, I need to test a theory. Elijah try to compel me."

Elijah looks at me and nods, looking into my eyes his pupils dilate as he says,

"Tell us all your secrets."

I felt a strange sensation brush against my mind and I brushed it off. Smiling, I crossed my arms and grinned.

"No." Elijah frowns and I continue. "Good, I can't be compelled, that means your father is screwed."

Klaus stands up and walks over to a table pouring himself a glass of bourbon.

"All these plans are great and all but we're forgetting one thing. Mikael has the only weapon that can kill an original vampire."

I grinned as I blur over to him and snatched the drink from his hand before he could drink it.

"No he doesn't." I pull out the white oak stake from my coat pocket. "Elijah sit back down."

Slumping back into his chair, I toss the stake over to him and he catches it with one hand.

"It's white oak, I don't need it to kill him but if you two want to help then you need to be armed."

Pulling another stake from my other pocket I had it to Klaus. Who promptly slams it into my heart. Annoyed at his actions I played along for a moment. Clawing at the stake I fell over the floor and played dead. Elijah blurs over and pins Klaus to the wall.

"Brother! What have you done?!"

"'Lijah he threatened Rebekah and Marcel. I could not let that slight go unpunished."

Despite his actions I was proud of him for actually thinking of someone other than himself though it was still a selfish action. I continued to play dead as they continued to argue.

"But what of Katarina, she will no doubt seek retribution. I could smell them on each other. They are lovers."

"Then we will find her and kill her brother, before she can do anything to harm our family."

"What of father?"

"Yes Niklaus, what about your father?"

Having had enough of playing dead I jumped to my feet as Klaus and Elijah jump back in alarm. I yanked the stake out of my chest and the blood on the stake shot into my chest before the wound closed completely.

"Aw, this was my favorite shirt."

"How are you alive?"

I froze them in place and walked over to klaus. Elijah's eyes widened in fear, realizing that they were at my mercy.

"Because Klaus, I can not be killed." I stab the white oak stake into his stomach. "Not even with white oak."

Unfreezing them Klaus screamed in pain pulling at the white oak stake trying to take it out. I was using my power to keep it stuck in place slowly twisting. Using my power I drove the stake further into his belly and he let out another scream.

"Okay! You've made your point. Release my brother."

The stake he had left on the table shot towards him and pressed against his heart. I applied enough pressure to puncture through his suit and cut into his skin.

"You're in no position to negotiate Elijah. Your brother attacked me unprovoked. I have every right to kill him."

I twisted the stake in Klaus' stomach one more time to emphasize that I was not someone they wanted to make an enemy of.

"But fortunately for you, I am a rather forgiving man."

With a snap of my finger the white oak stake shot out of Klaus and landed back in my hand. I pocketed the stake and looked at Klaus who was nursing his bleeding stomach. The stake against Elijah's chest dropped to the floor.

"For betraying my trust I will only leave you one white oak stake. I hope you learn from your mistake."

With that I step out of their compound whistling a tune as I made my way back to the hotel.

'Had I gone a bit too far? Maybe. But one thing I knew that the Mikaelsons understood better than words was violence.'
