Chapter Three

"You should watch your back, princess. It could have been anyone holding you" that familiar deep baritone said. She did not need to turn around to know it was Mr crazy and cute.

"Shhh They might hear us."

"They're gone, princess" he said as he pointed towards the windows

in the sitting room.

"What? I didn't even have the chance to confront them"

"That would have been stupid of you. Do you know who that fairy is? He's Sir Greenfield the best...."

"Sir Greenfield?" She asked, shocked. That name sounded familiar. Of course, it did. It was the name of the man she had always mentioned in her dreams. The man that had threatened her life in her dreams. He was the same man that stabbed her mother. And he's a fairy? She must be over thinking things, fairies didn't exist. It was just like saying Tinkerbell was real.

"What's it, princess?" Mr Crazy and cute asks as he noticed my shocked face. "Do you remember him? You should; he was James governor."

"I can remember saying his name in my dreams. Who's James? I remember Mom talking about him and June."

"Let me guess; in your dreams too."

"Yeah, but Mom said it was just a dream" She said as she realised that it had never been just a dream. Just like the other dream she had that came true, her dreams were not normal.

"I think it's your memory."

"Maybe. Maybe the dream about my younger self really happened" she said before she heard someone coming. What if it was Sir Greenfield? As much as she would love to avenge her parents, Mr C&C was right, she was not ready now. She needed to hide.

She ran to her room and hid under her bed but Mr C&C did not even move. Well, that was his problem. She just hoped Sir Greenfield didn't find her there. She knew she wanted to confront him but she was not ready yet.

I'm only one call away. I'll be there to...

Eve's phone picked the perfect time to ring. Of all times, someone decided to call her now? She quickly check her reading table, her bed, even her wardrobe but she couldn't find her phone. Where was the damn phone! She was so focused on finding it that she forgot that someone was coming inside.

She checked the window in her room to see if it was really Sir Greenfield, but it was not him. It was her Grandma Martha. What was she doing here? How had she found out what had happened. She lived in the neighbouring town and it had been three hours since all this mess erupted.

Something vibrated in the pocket of her shorts. Yeah, her shorts. She had been wearing a T-shirt and a knee length shorts when all that happened. She obviously did not have the time to get dressed up for the event.

It was her phone vibrating in her pocket. Silly right? She had scattered her room but had failed to notice it had been with her all along.

She checked her phone to see three messages from Kathy. Kathy was her best friend. She must have been worried. Eve was supposed to meet her at Vikki's (the only reasonable boutique in that small town.)

-Eve where are you? We're gonna be late. -

-Eve the store is closed, don't bother coming. I'm coming to your house-

Kathy sounded angry and disappointed in those text.

-Eve I saw the police in your house. What's going on? Where are you?

You're not even picking my calls. When you see this text, call me. I'm at home already.-

Eve was about to call her back but stopped when Grandma Martha came in.

"Oh dear. I came as soon as I heard"

Grandma Martha said as she ran to Eve and gave her that tight grandma hug. Those kinds of hug grandmas would give when you are little.

"Don't cry pumpkin. I'm here, dear. Everything will be alright." She said as she gave her a pat on the back. Eve hadn't even notice she had tears rolling down her cheeks.

After a few minutes of crying, Grandma Martha told told her to pack her things quickly. That they couldn't sleep there that night. That was the only thing she had said before going to the sitting room.

Grandma had a mansion in the neighbouring town, Melas. A weird name for a town, right? Rumour had it that it was a town full of witches because when you spell melas backwards, it would be Salem. And that was the popular name of the village that had witches in history.

Eve didn't believe in fairy tales and witches. So, she was it as just a rumour.

She had started packing her stuff. Grandma had said that she couldn't sleep there that night and she would not let her stay too. Packng up the most important things she had was hard especially when it came to clothes.

So, she decided to start from her jewelry. Her jewelry box was kind of big so she could not carry everything in it with the box. She opened her jewelry box and started selecting her favourite jewelry. Among them, she found the orange pendant mother gave her two years before, on her sixteenth birthday. It was so beautiful. That was definitely an important jewelry she would take along. But first, she wore it to see how it looked on her.

As she wore the pendant and she noticed that the pendant was glowing. Suddenly, it felt like cold water had been poured on her; but she was still dry.

Maybe it was the cool night breeze coming from the windows. She thought. She quickly went to close the windows and continued packing.

The door to Eve's room opened slightly and her grandma Martha peeped her head in to ask. " Are you done pumpkin? Do you need a hand with anything?"

"No grandma"

"Okay dear, I'll be waiting in the sitting room." She said before leaving.

After packing, she went to her parents' room. She could not believe she was almost an orphan, Her father was dead and she was not sure if her mother survived. All she could do was hope.

It will be nice to take something of hers with me. She said to herself as she looked around to see if there was anything simple to stuff in her bag. The only thing I she saw fitting was her mother's journal. Her mother loved writing; She would always write when she was not busy with anything else.

She grabbed the journal and went out. She met grandma Martha calling someone. She hanged up immediately she noticed her.

When Grandma Martha stood up, Eve noticed that she looked strange. She looked younger and had this dark aura around her. Eve was not sure if she was imagining things. She had to be. Because whatever she had seen was for a long little moment.

"Are you taking all that?" Grandma Martha asked when she noticed what Eve was carrying. She was carrying three bags. It was not big. It was the same kind of size of luggage she carried whenever she was going for a sleepover at Kathy's.

"Yeah. It'll be enough for now. Grandma?" For a moment, Eve wanted to tell her grandma what she had just seen.

"Yes pumpkin"

"Nothing...." No, she couldn't. Eve was scared her grandma would think she was crazy. "...I was just wondering if you saw a guy when you came." She decided to say something else.

"No, pumpkin. Were you expecting someone?"

"No o!" Eve exclaimed.

When Eve entered Grandma Martha's car, she looked back one last time hoping she would see him again.

She didn't see Mr C&C before leaving . Maybe he had disappeared the way he appeared out of nowhere. He was the most weird person she had ever met.

I mean who doesn't say goodbye before leaving? He just left. — Eve said to herself.
